traffic already building up. 37 million americans on the road. breaking news overnight. the suspect in that brutal murder of a washington d.c. mansion arrested. he was on the run. taken into custody. five others arrested with him. abc's ryan smith has all of the latest from washington. good morning, ryan. >> reporter: just over a week after a family and their house keeper was killed, daron dillon wint the suspect finally caught. last night taking dramatic steps to get their man. a week-long manhunt that captured the country. authorities arresting daron dylon wint and taking into custody several others. >> we're able to take him down and arrested. >> reporter: police release this

surveillance video of a man believed to be wint last week running in the area where the family's blue porsche was sent ablaze. after chasing leads from d.c. to new york city authorities apprehended wint. according to the washington post accompanying wint in that car, two women, one of them driver. behind one believed to be wint's relative. wint charged with first-degree felony murder. his dna was found on a domino's pizza crust, has a long history of alleged assaults and threatening behavior. >> we believe there's a connection between this suspect in this case through the business. >> reporter: the motive for the killing is still unbleer, but wint whose court records describe him as a welder was a former employee of savvas

savopoulos. authorities believe the victims were taken captive may 13th and killed the next day before the home was set ablaze. and in the hours before the fire according to documents obtained by the washington post there were a series of call from savvas' phone to a bank and an accountant accountant. his assistant dropped off an envelope containing $40,000. it's still unclear what role if any the others in custody might have played. the surviving savvas savopoulos' teen daughters now having to focus on a june 1st funeral for their parents and their little brother. george. we're joined by the commander of the u.s. marshals task force, robert fernandez.

this has been a round the clock manhunt. >> it's been a busy 48 hours. >> you tracked the suspect to brooklyn back down to the d.c. area? >> yes, wednesday, we did our investigations and we were able to determine at night he was in the brooklyn area and then along with the new york police department task force officers so he just fled. >> yesterday, you track him down to college park maryland and at that point, you basically have him surrounded and 20 vehicles ready to take him on. >> we continued our investigations down here and we were able to marry up the information from both locations and determine he was en route back to the d.c. area we had to figure out where he was heading. once he was in college park at that hotel, we made a plan to figure out which hotel room he was in and take him down. but things are always fluid when

you're trying to find a human body when they're mobile and before we could get to the hotel, two vehicles left and he was in one of the vehicles. >> any idea where he was headed? >> heading northbound on route 1. we with we had a good feeling he was in one of the vehicles. they did a whacky u-turn we thought maybe they were aware they were being tailed. you never know how a fugitive like this is going to be react. >> amazingly no shots fired and no one was hurt. >> we continued to follow them into northeast d.c. until we could tactically take them down safely. we were able to stop them and arrest everybody without a shot fired. very little damage to any vehicle. >> did he say anything?

>> no everybody was just placed into custody. d.c. police were there immediately. homicide detectives were there. >> and he was in a car with two other women and there were two men in the car in front? >> there was another man and two women in the car with him, four individuals, and two meals driving the moving truck. >> are you tracking any other accomplice right now? >> right now, no. >> commander fernandez, thanks very much for your time this morning. >> thank you very much. robin, we got a statement from the saveopoulos family. we got a statement, we hope it restores a sense of calmness in our neighborhood. >> we're continuing to think of them and lift them up in prayer. now to the big holiday weekend, millions of americans ready to head out on the roads

worst traffic expressway. good morning, linsey. >> reporter: good morning, george. it's not disappointing, living up to its expectation. we're at a complete stand still at this point. believe it or not, it's expected to get worse than this. the worst time for traffics the same hours apply as prime-time beach time 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. their advice if you want to avoid traffic leave at 4:00 a.m. memorial day weekend is one of the busiest times to travel and this year a aaa estimates that 33 million people will be on the road. all this while prices at the pump are climbing to around $2.70 per gallon almost a dollar cheaper than the same time last year. with more people on the road that means one thing is guaranteed -- traffic. but waze could have a solution it gives you the fastest travel

route based on realtime travel data from other users warning you of obstructions that may slow you down. not as simple knowing the quickest routes you also need to know when to hit the road. >> the worst time to leave is between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. if you don't want to see traffic, leave at 4:00 a.m. >> on monday rush hour is in the middle of day. >> people are on the road the most on memorial day, during 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. if you're about to return home it's best to wait until after 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. >> reporter: don't think tuesday is any better for beating traffic. >> leave for work about one to two hours early. >> reporter: the top destinations for drivers this memorial day weekend, san francisco, philadelphia miami

and portland. george? >> okay thanks very much linsey. also a record number of americans expected to fly this morning and some new technology could help eliminate one of the worst parts about flying those lengthy delays. abc's david kerley is at reagan national with that story. good morning david. >> reporter: good morning, robin. texts is quicker than calling someone on the phone and the same is true for airplanes. . the faa has been testing a new system texting information between the tower and the aircraft. it's basically the same thing you do with your phones flight changes all texting. trying this in memphis and new york. they're going to roll it out to 50 different airports. united airlines is part of this program. it's saying it's saving six to eight minutes per flight. >> part of a plan to move planes

top stories. the latest outbreak of salmonella is being blamed on suchi, being traced to raw tuna. more than 50 people including a baby have been sickened so far, most of them in california, but nine other states have reported poisoning a well. scientists are trying to find the source. another new revelation from the clinton foundation this time acknowledging that it received up to $26 million in undisclosed payments coming from corporations and other sources, collected as fees from speeches given by bill, hillary and chelsea clinton. a grand jury has indicted all six baltimore police officers charged in freddie gray's death. second-degree murder manslaughter and assault. gray's neck was broken in police

but right now, that shocking report from josh duggar from 19 kids and counting confessing to molesting young kids as a teenager. he says the behavior ended after counseling. abc's ron claiborne has the story. >> josh is our oldest. >> reporter: this morning, bombshell sex abuse allegations against josh duggar. >> my life as i had known it had been changing. >> reporter: the star of "19 kids and counting." the shocking allegations of inappropriate contact with several underaged girls. reported in intouch magazine. he responded to the allegations on facebook. 12 years ago, as a young teenager i acted inexcusebly. i confessed this to my parents. we spoke with the authorities and my parents arranged for me and those affected by actions to

from the step into the spa. >> reporter: the spa jets forced rowan under water for at least 20 seconds before his mom was able to pull him out. >> he's okay. he's not blue. he's choking up the water. he seems fine. >> reporter: an hour later, rowan wasn't himself, he was lee that are jack. >> i called the doctor and he said to go to the e.r. >> reporter: he was experiencing secondary drowning a condition that doctors say uncommon but say it can be fatal. >> 24 hours to develop symptoms. most people if they have a significant event develop symptoms in 24 to 48 hours. >> reporter: the fluid that remains in the lung prevents the tiny air sacs moving out to the lung. decreased oxygen can cause the heart to stop. >> it takes a surprising small

amount of fluid to actually cause damage to the lungs. in a child it can be a quarter of a can of a soda. >> reporter: rowan survived after a frightening stay in the hospital. she updated her blog delighted momma, she's warning parents about the dangers of secondary drowning. doctors say parents should keep an eye on their kids for up to 24 hours. if they have difficulty breathing, coughing take them to the emergency room. >> at least a four-feet fence around your pool so they can't climb over. >> reporter: know what to do if your child goes under water. >> if they're unconscious, you need to immediately start cpr, have someone call the emergency
