memorial day is a day to remember those who sacrificed their own lives so we can have our freedoms. ralph galatti will rededicate the memorial at penns landing. many will start their careers after graduation. three of the students have sworn their oath all graduate on june 19 and begin their respective boot camp in august. for some of them it's a call for new adventure. >> travel is a big part of it for me, my dad was in the navy, grew up on stories about his times in the navy. it always seemed exciting to me. >> a family history weighed heavily for some. many were on hand to join teachers and fell students in wishing them well. we hope you join the action

this memorial day send us photos of the military members in your life join the "action news" at 6abc.com or #6abc action on social media. a motorcycle and taxi slammed into each other around 3:00 a.m., the wreck happened on the westbound vine on the schuylkill on-ramp. one person was pronounced dead at hanheman university hospital. nobody in the cab was injured. fire crews were called to south philadelphia refinery after a blaze was sparked last night. thick, black smoke bellowed into the skies at girard point refinery. it is now owned by incomer solutions. it's the large -- by incomer solutions. it's the largest oil refinery on the east coast. it was extinguished 40 minutes after it started nobody was

hurt. a dangerous incident at another refinery was quickly resolved, a gas tank overflowed at the eagle point plant in west deptford. the haz/mat incident was brought under control in a half-hour residence complained of a gas odor. a woman has been charged with two counts of child endangerment. the children were found alone at home with no food in the house. they were left alone for a long time and hadn't eaten in more than a day. >> we are following the van on i-95 and approximately at exit 48. that's a washington state mom helping police track down a kidnapper. she heard the amber alert. she called 911 and followed him

until they pulled the van over. the children's mother is grateful. >> it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulder. i can breathe. >> i'm just happy i could help. >> the children are safe. their father was upset that their mom wants a divorce. >> darin dylan wint had his first appearance in court after being arrested for the murder of four people in washington d.c. he is charges with the death of savopoulos and his wife and child and housekeeper. the family was held hostage inside the home and savopoulos' assistant delivered $40,000, the victims were killed and the home was set on fire. authorities identified darin dylan wint from dna left on a pizza.
