good morning. >> it will be warmer this afternoon that's for sure and maybe a little more humid. still looking at a fair amount of sunshine, though. you can see very little cloud cover in place right now. as the day goes on perhaps a little bit of pop-up cloud cover and there's the possibility of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm as well but that's probably mainly up in the poconos maybe something close to the lehigh valley. enough sun today that another sunburn alert is in effect. u.v. index is high. make sure you use the sunscreen. 66 degrees in philadelphia. you can still see that breeze coming from the south and that is going to draw higher humidity into the region today. not oppressive but a bit more sticky. getting out the door this morning, not feeling too bad. 65 degrees by 6 o'clock but warming up a bit to 70 degrees by 8 o'clock. mainly clear skies. a fair amount of early sunshine. on your storm tracker six app we are looking at 66 degrees right now and then 70 by 8 o'clock. by noon, 81 and your high today is actually going to be a little late in the day. we're expecting a high of about 88 degrees, there it goes, and that's going to be

right in there at about 4 o'clock. again, a bit more humid and like yesterday a bit breezy during the afternoon. we have the chance of some drenching thunderstorms and maybe even a couple of gusty thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon and evening. i'll have more on that coming up with future tracker six. matt. >> all right, david, got to get out the door this morning and get back to work after that long holiday weekend for many people. and a lot of people are going to be coming up the 42 freeway this morning back from the beach. traditionally on this tuesday morning after memorial day especially when it's a nice memorial day weather-wise, people wait through the overnight hours and then take the trek back from the beach early on tuesday morning. so, we do expect extra traffic on the garden state parkway the a.c. expressway and right here on the northbound side of 42. we'll be watching it throughout the morning. we're also watching a crash early this morning here in lower gwynedd. it's along 309 bethlehem pike northbound side at welsh road. traffic can get by. there's no traffic really out here right now. at least not a whole lot. police are on the scene of what appears to be the one vehicle accident.

again, 309 northbound welsh road. otherwise on the big picture there's a fire location, a row home fire in strawberry mansion blocking off diamond street between 29th nd 30th. maybe stick with cecil b. moore instead. things look good so far on the schuylkill nice light volume. same on the roosevelt boulevard and this is 95 southbound taillights entering the work zone at cottman. again light volume for now but people will be back on the roads this morning so we expect those normal morning volume delays to resurface even though we had the day off yesterday. and yesterday we were on irregular schedules on mass transit. everything is back to normal and on time as we kick things off on this tuesday morning. matt. >> thank you matt. developing this morning detectives are trying to figure out if a stray bullet killed a young man in north philadelphia. officers on patrol heard gunfire just before 11:00 last night on the 2100 block of north 30th street and there they found a 19-year-old man shot once in the head. the victim was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

investigators say they found seven spent shell casings about 100 feet from where the victim was found. >> the fact that the shell casings were so far from where the victim was found and the victim was only shot one time, we're not sure at this time whether this victim was an intended target or whether or not he was hit way stray bullet. >> police are also reviewing surveillance video that captured two men running from the scene. ly. >> police are looking for a man wanted for app sexual assault yesterday in south philadelphia. and they think this is not his first attack. the victim of what they think was a prior assault is talking to "action news." vernon odom is lie at the special victims unit. good morning vernon. >> reporter: good morning special victims detectives are hunting for a home invasion suspect and sexual assault suspect who has been terrorizing the point breeze section of south philadelphia. his latest attack before sunup on memorial day and an earlier victim spoke with our own dann

cuellar. >> he told me to give him the money and i told him i didn't have any money. >> reporter: the 30-year-old victim says it was about two in the morning when the assailant broke into her home through a window in the 1700 block of chadwick. she says he resembles the man in this composite sketch. after telling him she did not have any money she was shocked by his next move. >> the interpreter:. >> he dropped his pants and motioned that he wanted to have sex with me. i got really scared. he grabbed me by the hair and throat i'm thought he was going to kill me. >> reporter: she decided to try and fight him off. during the struggle the tv set in her bedroom fell to the floor making a lost noise. the attacker fled. police believe it may be the same man who broke into another woman's home a few blocks away in the 1800 block of rose wood. in this case, took the woman awoke to find a man standing over her bed. he demanded money then sexually assaulted her before fleeing in her 2007 silver toyota which was recovered a few blocks away.

>> just makes my stomach turn. it's sad. horrific just hearing about it. really grosses me out. it's disgusting. >> reporter: yesterday there was anger and unease in the neighborhood with the assailant still on the loose. police describe him as a black male about 5-foot nine, medium build inform both cases sources say he was wearing red or orange gloves. for her part the victim in the first assault believes he lives somewhere in the neighborhood and worries he's still out there. >> the interpreter: i don't want this to happen to any other woman. i am still very much in fear of this man and i hope they catch him soon. >> reporter: if you somehow recognize the person in that sketch or have any other information that might help police call the special victims unit right here or dial 911 and they'll put you through. live in hunting park, vernon odom, channel6 "action news." >> thank you. flash flooding swamped a houston area overnight. some people scrambled out of

cars as water un91 dated roads. 5-inches of rain came down and more heavy rain has been moving through this part of texas this morning. 12 people are missing from flash flooding along the blanco river in san marcos, texas. that destroyed or damaged more than 1,000 homes. and the people who are missing were in a vacation home. that flood waters ripped from the foundation "action news" reporter erin o'hearn is at the big board with more on those missing people. >> reporter: yeah, matt, the holiday weekend turned tragic for two families who were in the area vacationing. this is laura mccomb and her two children six-year-old andrew and four-year-old leighton. they are among the missing. laura's husband jonathan who you see here was rescued from the river and is in a hospital recovering from some serious injuries. now mccomb's sister says the family held hands as their vacation home floated down the river and when it hit a bridge and broke in half, they got separated. >> 1 o'clock in the morning she called me, she said i'm in

a house i'm floating down the river. tell mom and dad i love you and pray. i think recognizing with what's happening with the weather, we all know and we have accepted that they're gone. >> reporter: so sad. recovery teams are set to resume looking for the 12 members of the two families that officials noted. the search component is over meaning no more survivors are expected to be found in the flood debris. governor greg abbott of texas was pleading with residents to obey evacuation orders as he added 24 counties to his disaster declarations. comparing these flood waters to a tsunami. authorities were also searching for victims iny anding ay assessing damage across the texas-mexico border where a tornado killed 13 people and left five unaccounted for. matt. >> thank you erin. good morning america will have more on the flooding in text at 7:00 a.m. >> new this morning a rutgers football player has been arrested for robbery in florida. 19-year-old darien daily and

another man are accused of holding up a bicyclist at gunpoint on sunday. rutgers is aware of the situation and in a statement the football coach said the team will take appropriate actions once they review all the facts in the case. new information this morning on a crash that damaged a west philadelphia school. a car slams into an office in blank ken burg elementary right off the 4600 block of west girard avenue. police say a 32-year-old woman ran onto the curb as she tried to make a turn. she broke her ankles her wrist and a leg. thankfully that school was closed for the holiday. >> 4:39 now. we have more news you didn't see last night including new video of a tanker truck fire that shut down part of an interstate in michigan. >> and two malaysia airlines plane crashed last year. now there's more trouble for that airline. david. >> it's going to be warm out there, a little more humid. we'll have pollen in the picture, medium high range probably staying that way through thursday. we'll remind you we have added

>> ♪♪ >> 4:42. good morning everyone, it is tuesday, time to go back to work and school for lots of folks out there the unofficial start of summer was yesterday and it's going to feel like it today. >> let's find out more about that with dave murphy. good morning. >> yeah, it will get warm, well into the 80's today. looks like we might miss that 90-degree high but it will be a bit more humid than yesterday. storm tracker six life double scan though shows you we're back to work under dry conditions and back to school as well. as we take a look outside we have a little bit of bump in the camera down in atlantic city as we're off to a bit of a breezy start there. and we are expecting a 10 to 20 miles per hour breeze throughout most of the afternoon. now, in philadelphia 66 degrees, still fairly comfortable. your dewpoint down below that 60-degree threshold for humid air. winds are out of the south at 8 miles per hour. but they'll get a little bit more breezy as the day goes on. future tracker six showing that you we are going to see plenty of sunshine during the day going all the way up to 6 o'clock, maybe every now and then a sweep of clouds but basically dry and then later

on in the evening hours there is the chance of just a slight pop-up shower or maybe a rumble of thunder someplace but that's mainly up in the poconos today. so, we're expecting mainly dry conditions. a fair amount of sunshine overall today. 70 degrees by 8 o'clock, 79 by 11 o'clock. like yesterday we'll zoom up in a hurry. 86 by 2 o'clock an late day high probably around 3:45, 4 o'clock of 86 degrees. even though humidity did behave itself today it will feel a bit more humid with dewpoints getting up into the low 60's later this afternoon so not horrendous humidity but a little sticky in the afternoon. 86 in wilmington, 88 in allentown, reading might get a little closer to 90 and down the shore similar to yesterday with highs getting close to the 80-degree mark. a bit breezy a bit humid later on. there is a severe probability tomorrow, it's low but it's up in the poconos and areas fairly close to allentown and reading and this means that there's a slight chance of any

thunderstorm forming north and west of philadelphia tomorrow afternoon or evening becoming severe with gusty winds and hail and so it's also a a possibility that this low chance will slide a little closer to philadelphia as we head into tomorrow. given that future tracker six shows that you during the day we've got a lot more clouds around maybe by noon something popping through. it looks like most of this stuff though is going to hold off north and west of the area up through 4, 5 o'clock and then tomorrow evening the latest model run has some of this making it all the way into philadelphia and then by 11 o'clock, it is gone. so, a slight chance of a drenching thunderstorm certainly and maybe a couple gusty storms especially north and west. that would be mainly tomorrow evening. your exclusive accuweather seven days, warm and a bit more humid today with a high of 88 degrees, mainly dry. tomorrow humid. we do have that chance of some thunderstorms especially north and west and maybe making it down into philadelphia. drenching downpours would be the main threat there and maybe some gusty winds with a couple isolated storms. 87 is your high. clouds on thursday, 83 degrees.

another shower or thunderstorm around but probably not as big of an issue on thursday the way things are looking now. as the front gets out of here friday and saturday we're looking at partly sunny skies then pretty nice days, 83 friday and getting up closer to 90 on saturday, probably stopping in the upper 80's. on sunday 81 degrees. maybe a pop-up shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. monday rain is possible and we are back into the 70's for the first time in a long time. >> my goodness. thank. we have breaking news coming in right now. police are on the hunt for three suspects wanted in an overnight home invasion in northeast philadelphia. this all happened about two hours ago on the 2100 block of tyson avenue. police respond to do a call of three men breaking in and beating someone up on the second floor. officers arrived just as those men were trying to head out the front door. police say they instead turned and fled out of the back door. canine units are helping in this search. there were no serious injuries reported. >> oh, my god. do you feel the heat?

>> yeah. >> can you imagine seeing that? that's new video of a driver passing a massive tappinger fire on i75 in detroit. the tanker overturned spilling 9,000 gallons of gas. the wreck set off a fire ball on the i75 northbound ramp to i375. repairs to the ramp start today. it will be closed a you will week. the truck driver is fine. investigators are looking into what caused the trash and the crash and the company's previous safety regulations. >> malaysia airlines planning to lay off a third of its workforce at least 6,000 employees will lose their jobs. two malaysia airlines plane crashed last year and the airline was already struggling before those twin tragedies. a workshop planned for tonight could offer residents in new castle delaware advice on conserving energy. it starts at 7:00 p.m. at the brandywine library on falk

real unfortunately here in lower gwynedd with a crash to start off the morning. in the northbound lanes of 309, that's bethlehem pike right here at welsh road we have police on the scene. appears to just be one vehicle involved. traffic can get by as you come north from ambler up toward montgomeryville but watch out for the police activity associated with the crash. word of a ladder on the ramp from sanatoga to the westbound lanes of 422. hopefully they're taking steps to remove the ladder but for now as you use that ramp watch out for the ladder this morning. if you're coming southbound on the northeast extension speeds in the mid 60's, looking good. we do expect some extra volume on the southbound northeast extension this morning as people make the late trek back from the holiday weekend in the poconos but no overnight construction to contend with. the crews were still off because of the holiday but construction will return tonight here to the schuylkill expressway and in fact, they're scheduled to close the westbound lanes starting at 9 o'clock. just a short chunk between 30th street and the vine

street expressway. they're going to force you off, let you get back on or you could stay on 95 as your alternate again starting tonight at 9 o'clock. matt. >> all right, matt, thanks. happening today the trial scheduled to begin for a philadelphia police officer who was charged with prodding her own children to get involved in fights. prosecutors say tamika gross a veteran of the 16th district encouraged her teenaged children to fight other youngsters and even took part in one of the confrontations herself. gross is being tried on multiple counts of corruption of a minor and simple assault. cleveland has reportedly reached a deal with the u.s. justice department over a pattern of excessive force by its city police force. details of the settlement are expected to be released this week. protesters erupted yesterday when a white police officer was cleared in the fatal shooting of two unarmed black suspects. the officer insisted he feared for his life and the judge believed him. >> the owner of that pipeline that burst along the california coast has revealed results of a preliminary report.

house with children inside. hear from one of the victims. >> philadelphia police are investigating a murder that happened near a rec center. overnight developments are next on "action news." new jersey's pension system is a mess but don't blame teachers and other school employees. over 20 years, teachers have paid more than 10 billion dollars into their pensions, but new jersey politicians have paid just three underfunding teacher pensions by billions. unless the state makes its pension payments the entire fund could disappear in twelve years- threatening over 200 thousand teachers with poverty in retirement. school employees have done their part. now, politicians need to do theirs. it's only fair.
