program. with matt o'donnell, tamala edwards, karen rogers and meteorologist, david murphy. >> ♪♪ >> good morning. it's 6:00 a.m. on this tuesday may 26th and we're following breaking news. >> heavy smoke and flames pour from a series of philadelphia row homes overnight. >> a woman says a masked man broke into her south philadelphia home and sexually assaulted her and police believe the attacker may have struck before. >> a bounce house full of children flies away as a water spout comes ashore and the frightening moment was caught on video. >> let's turn now to david to give you the latest from accuweather. matt pelman is in for karen looking at track. good morning. >> lots of sunshine early this morning with very little cloud cover in sight very reminiscent of yesterday morning and as you take a look at satellite yes, there are some additional clouds out in pittsburgh and out to the north and west of us but it doesn't look like much of that is going to be able to make it in today. a sunburn alert then. the peak time forgetting a burn is between 10:00 in the morning and 4:00 in the

afternoon. even if it does cloud up temporarily you can still get a burn through the clouds when the sun angle is high. u.v. index running high today. prepare for that. 66 degrees in philadelphia currently, 65 in millville. still just 60 in allentown. very comfortable with winds definitely on the light side this morning. and as we roll through the day, it is going to get warm. by noon, 81. by 3 o'clock 87. and a high today of 88 around 3:45 or 4 o'clock before dipping back to 85 degrees by 6 o'clock. you will feel the humidity go up slightly as we go through the afternoon. it will be a little stickier today than it was yesterday and your pollen count is in the medium high range the next several days i will point out that we have now added grasses to the mix of irritants and that's new and that might mean a few more of you who weren't so bothered by the tree spores earlier are now going to start to get those itchy eyes. we have a chance of some strong or at least drenching thunderstorms tomorrow evening. i'll have more on that coming up in that that seven day. matt. >> david speaking of irritants we know that a lot of people are pulling themselves kicking

and screaming away from the shore points this morning needing to head back to work and we've already had some complications for people that need to make the drive back including a crash on the garden state parkway northbound side just past stone harbor boulevard. the good news is that crash right there in the work zone is now gone. so the lanes are back opened but you do want to expect heavier than normal traffic on the parkway, on the a.c. expressway and here on 42 northbound this morning traveling through camden county, we see some traffic headed up towards 295. but at this point luckily we're not jammed yet. i do expect the jams to form a little bit earlier than normal and i expect them to be heavier than normal this morning. once you get across the walt whitman bridge, this is the schuylkill expressway by university avenue and grays ferry avenue. this is 34th street right here at grays ferry and the traffic light at this normally busy intersection here by the hess station and the car wash are out this morning meaning you should treat that intersection like a four-way stop. this could cause congestion that could spill back onto the schuylkill so we're keeping a close eye on it but something to watch out for there in

grays ferry. also still have that fire location in strawberry mansion at diamond and 29th. stick to cecil b. and 33rd instead and delays just starting to form on 95 southbound. tam. >> thank you matt. we're going stay with that fire in strawberry mansion. this is breaking this morning. live here on the scene the action cam fire has damaged three homes here in this section of the city. again, live at diamond and north 29th street and you can see the burned out windows there and the fire crews there on the scene. now, let's show you what they were dealing with. some heavy flames tour through two homes and spread to the roof of a third. the back part of one of these homes collapsed. two of the homes were vacant. fire crews say and as you just saw in that live picture that the fire has been placed under control. they're staying on the scene to make sure no more hot spots flare up. the search is on for the man wanted for a violent attack in south philadelphia. and police believe this is not his only assault. "action news" reporter vernon odom is lie at the philadelphia police special victims unit. good morning vernon.

>> reporter: good morning. this morning police detectives are asking for the public's help to try to nail a sexual predator who has been terrorizing they believe striking twice in the south philadelphia section known as point breeze. one of the victims spoke exclusively with dann cuellar. [speaking foreign language] >> the interpreter: he grabbed me by the hair and throat. i thought he was going to kill me. >> reporter: police believe this 30-year-old woman was a victim of the same man about two weeks ago when the assailant broke into her home through a window in the 1700 block of chadwick. she says the assailant resembles the man in this composite sketch. after telling him she didn't have any money to give him she was shocked by his next move. [speaking foreign language] >> the interpreter: he dropped his pants and motioned that he wanted to have sex with me. i got really scared. >> reporter: she decided to try to fight him off. during the struggle the tv set in her bedroom fell to the floor making a lot of noise. the attacker fled. police believe it may be the same man who broke into

another woman's home a few blocks away in the 1800 block of rose wood. the woman awoke to find a man standing over her bed. he demanded money then sexually assaulted her before fleeing in her 2007 silver toyota which was recovered a few blocks away. >> for this to happen on this block it's ridiculous. it's crazy. it's outrageous. it shouldn't go on like this. >> reporter: yesterday there was anger and unease in there neighborhood with the assailant still on the loose. police describe him as a black male about 5-foot nine, medium build. in both cases sources say he was wearing red or orange gloves. for her part, the victim in the first assault police he lives somewhere in the neighborhood and worries he's still out there. [speaking foreign language] >> the interpreter: i don't want this to happen to any other woman. i am still very much in fear of this man and i hope they catch him soon. >> reporter: if that sketch rings a bell or if you have any other information that might be key to this case, please get in touch with philadelphia police right away.

live in hunting park, vernon odom, channel6 "action news." >> vernon thank you. developing overnight a 19-year-old was shot and killed in southwest philadelphia. he was hit twice in the chest. police found his body on the grounds of the connell recreation center at 65th and elmwood streets just after 10:00 last night. police say they also found a revolver nearby along with cash and a cell phone. the search is on for the killer this morning. family fun turned dangerous in florida when twisting winds lifted a bounce house off the ground with three children stuck inside. "action news" reporter erin o'hearn is live at the big board with that story. erin. >> matt, this is unbelievable video. you hear a lot about some of the injuries these bounce houses can cause. in fact, some companies who rent these for children's parties have very strict rules as to when these can be used. because they can flip so easily in strong winds. now, let's take a look at this cell phone video because you can see the moment where this bounce house actually lifts off the ground and it flies up

into the air and then flips before landing. now, parents believe their children were ejected about 20 feet and you can see that, 20 feet up in the air. that's incredible and then the bounce house landed on a tennis court. the bounce house was part of a city sponsored memorial day event which certainly found in a bizarre and frightening ordeal for both the children and parents. this happened after a water spout touched land lifting the bounce house airborne. three children inside the house were injured. they had bruises and cuts and two of them suffered broken arms. >> i thought i was about to die. i was in the bounce house and then the bounce house flew out of there. then i fell in the dirt. >> i didn't panic at first 'cause i wasn't for sure whether my child was in there but i was kind of scared. >> reporter: poor children. injuries from bounce houses are not uncommon. from 2008 to 2010 t-the rate of injuries more than doubled according to a study in the

journal of pediatrics. in 2010, 31 children were treater in emergency departments each day on average according to the report and that's about one child every 45 minutes. disturbing statistics, matt. >> thank you erin. ranks high on the list of the best states to raise children. the garden state fourth in the rankings. states were graded on the level of support working parents receive when it comes to paid leave and childcare. new york was ranked number one indiana was last and pennsylvania ranked somewhere in the middle with a grade of c plus. turning to the markets stocks ended a choppy trading session on friday with modest losses. federal came after janet yellen said she still expected the feds would raise interest rates this year. right now futures pointing to a lower open. and it could soon become easier to get picked up at the airport by an uber driver. the head of the airport ground transportation association expects the ride sharing service to be widely permitted at airports within the next two years. right now uber is still banned at many big city airports. san francisco became the first airport to allow uber pickups late last year. matt and tam stay tuned for when it will become legal at

all airports. >> thanks stacy. >> times are changing there. we have another warm one today. slightly more humid but not terrible. storm tracker six live double scan shows us we are once again dry. as we take a look outside sky six images at the airport looking very images looking very similar to memorial day. lots of sun coming in over the air field and comfortable conditions for now. 66 degrees in philadelphia. your temperature in allentown is at 60. 65 in millville. humidity still comfortable at this point and the winds fairly light, single digits across most of the region. as we go through the day we are going to maintain fairly sunny conditions, just an occasional sweep of clouds especially in the afternoon. the flow will be from the south so we'll get a little bit more humid so that by 6 o'clock you'll probably feel that but we're still mainly dry, just a slight chance of a pop-up shower or maybe a quick pop upthunderstorm in the northern and western suburbs. most of this will be towards the poconos. most of us are dry today. up in allentown and the rest of the lehigh valley going for a high on or about 88 degrees.

again, a bit humid as the day goes on but not terrible. a fair amount of sunshine overall. down the shore for the second straight day we'll get up to about 80 on the beach. we'll go 82 in atlantic city, some spots maybe stopping at 79. mostly sunny and warm, a little bit breezy at times this afternoon. but pretty comfortable on the water. and in philadelphia, a high this afternoon of 88 degrees, mostly sunny skies, a bit on the humid side. we'll still abbit breezy in the afternoon with those winds running southwest at 10 to 20 miles per hour. and as we roll through the day, we warm up quickly. 70 degrees by 8 o'clock. by 11 o'clock, 79. and in through the afternoon in the mid 80's most of the way, upper 80's with that high of 88 by about 3:45 this afternoon. and again slightly humid but not oppressive in terms of that humidity. tomorrow we do have a slight risk, pretty much a low risk, that would be about a 15 percent chance or less of any thunderstorm forming in the poconos into areas of northern northampton lehigh and berks county producing strong gusty winds and maybe

some hail. there's always the chance that the storm prediction center will lower this a little closer to philadelphia by the time we get into tomorrow afternoon or tomorrow evening but for now the big issue is up north. as we take a look at future tracker six tomorrow, more clouds around overall. by noon, not a whole lot going on maybe a quick shower in the poconos. but it's later in the afternoon where we have that chance of the strong thunderstorms between four, six, seven and 8 o'clock they start to drop down towards philadelphia. so, the gusty wind chance for now is mainly up in the poconos. but we could also get some blustery winds out ahead of some downpours as this stuff comes into philadelphia. after about eight or 9 o'clock, the sun goes down, the convect tiff support for this goes away and the thunderstorms go away as well. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, warm, more humid today not oppressive but a bit stickier later in the afternoon and a high of 88. tomorrow definitely more humid, a high of 87 and as you just saw late in the day or evening we have that chance of a drenching thunderstorm and in some cases some blustery gusty winds out ahead of them. and then more clouds on

thursday. that will such suppress our high to 83 degrees and a front will trigger a couple more showers and thunderstorms but probably not as many as wednesday evening the way things are looking now. front's gone on friday, so friday and saturday we have partly sunny skies. highs in the 80's. no problems. and by sunday afternoon a spotty shower or a thunderstorm but not a washout. >> okay, we'll look for. that thanks, david. 6:13 now. and scare in the air details on why a commercial flight had to land with a military escort. >> breaking overnight iraq is on a new mission to push isis out of the anbar province. matt. >> getting busier tam. no big delco delays along the blue route 476 by the route one media bypass. traffic still moving okay in each direction but delays are starting to form on 95 and a closure is coming to the schuylkill. we'll talk about that and much more when "action news" continues on this tuesday morning. >> ♪♪

what, to work and this poor guy rolled to a stop i'm not sure what the problem is but that's going to cause big delays. we're already slow southbound from academy into cottman and then again if the betsy ross bridge through that disabled vehicle scene by allegheny on into girard. there's also a broken down work van on the northbound side of 95 at girard point bridge. but luckily he's mostly off to the side. we still have those traffic light troubles in grays ferry at 34th and grays ferry avenue by the hess station. they're dark which means you have to treat the intersection like a four-way stop sign and i think it's possible that that problem causes congestion that could spill back onto the schuylkill expressway. speaking of which, i wanted to let you know 76 westbound is closing overnight tonight just a short stretch between 30th street and the vine but that's going to cause big delays starting at 9 o'clock. you might want to head for 95 northbound and the vine westbound to get around that overnight blockage for construction. and there's a new work zone starting today in salford montgomery county. 9:00 until 3:00 the rest of the days this week they're

closing cowpath road between county line and forest. you can use those two county line road and forest road to get around that new work zone. matt. >> thank you, matt. firefighters say they have mainly contained a brush fire in ocean county, new jersey. it has burned at least 25 acres in jackson township so far. crews used a bulldozer so establish control lines. the plan is to let the fire burn out on its own. >> flight scare on a busy travel holiday. the fbi is investigating anonymous threats against several commercial planes flying into the u.s. officials say the threats have not been credible. the scare involved at least six international flights at j.f.k., newark and logan airports and one instance military jets escorted an air france flight into new york city after someone claimed that a chemical weapon was aboard. nothing dangerous was found during a search. >> ♪♪

>> breaking news out of iraq where government forces launched a new effort against isis. let's go to erin o'hearn she's got the list for you. >> good morning, tam. iraq is renewing its effort to drive islamic state extremists out of the western anbar province. isis seized large parts of the area starting in early 2014 and captured ramadi early this movement the fall of the city

marks a major defeat for iraqi forces. meanwhile a war of words erupted between u.s. and iraqi officials. defense secretary ash carter recently said in an interview that the iraqi military showed "no will to fight" and that forces bailed on ramadi last week leaving behind weapons tanks and humvees which were then claimed by extremists. iraq has responded by saying the u.s. did not give its troops adequate support. two of b.b. king's daughters say their father was murdered. back on may 14th while in hospice care in his las vegas home. they claim he was killed by two aides. it will be weeks before the autopsy results are back. police say a decision to investigate the claims will be based on those results. police looking to educate the public about ways to prevent break-ins turned to the experts. a trio of convicted burglars. the columbus police department recruited the inmates and produced a youtube video in which the offenders shared their how to tips so residents would know how to best protect
