>> ♪♪ >> developing now on "action news," gunfire erupts on a philadelphia street. three people are shot and stray bullets strike a home with children inside. >> a sexting problem plagues two schools in cape may county. male students are accused of swapping photos of girls like they were trading cards. >> storm tracker six double scan radar is tracking the chance for drenching downpours coming in later this afternoon. >> good morning everyone, its 5:30 on this wednesday. david is off. we have karen and matt with weather and traffic. >> good morning. already feeling muggy out there as you step outside. let's look at the temperatures. it's now 72 degrees in the city 72 degrees, 19 allentown, 71 wilmington. holding in the upper 60's in millville, new jersey and the low 60's right along the coastline. storm tracker six live double scan showing nothing happening just yet. you could see we have dry conditions but i want to show you storm tracker six live 3-d. looking unimpressive. you see showers starting to develop near pittsburgh and south of that area but what's going to happen with the igniting of the day is we'll see how these storms develop

and enhance through the region and give us the potential for some downpour pours. let's look right now at what you can expect. it is a warm one. by 8:00 a.m., 76 degrees with a good amount of sunshine mixing with clouds. we're at 84 by noon, by 3:00 p.m., 86 and i think up until that point we stay dry. it's later in the afternoon and the evening we get those thunderstorms. by 6:00 p.m., some storms around and 82 degrees. we're going to show you where future tracker six takes these storms. when they hit your house and when, all the details coming up in just a few minutes matt. >> then we'll see how long it takes you to get home in the midst of the storms. yeah going to be a fun afternoon commute that's for sure karen but this morning roads are nice and dry and looking good here along the schuylkill expressway. overnight construction here in the westbound lanes by 30th street is out of the way. traffic moving smoothly in each direction. not quite as smooth on the pennsylvania turnpike. had a crash overnight involving a tanker truck that's still out there approaching bensalem. that's the interchange for route one.

the right lane remains blocked. the bottom line is you can get through. but budget a few extra minutes because speeds are in the 30's as you come west away from new jersey and head toward willow grove all because of that tanker truck accident. little bit farther west on the turnpike approaching fort washington there's some debris in the roadway but speeds there are in the mid 60's. that's not as much of an issue. crash in mansfield township burlington county along 68 at mount pleasant road by new testament baptist church cleared out. everything reopened there. still working on that sinkhole yesterday in berlin closing the ramp from the white horse pike westbound to 561 haddon avenue. what you can do is go north on 73 to walker avenue and from there you can get to haddon avenue if that's your destination on this wednesday morning. tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. we're starting with a developing story. stray bullets from a triple shooting shot into a home where a woman and two children were asleep. let's go right over to john rawlins. he's live on that scene in west oak lane. good morning john. >> reporter: good morning tam. this is 16th and kings dale in

west oak lane. police say about 11:30 they started getting multiple phone calls along the 911 system of much gunfire here. actually you can look around here, there are places where you can see where there was brass all over the place here. somebody fired many, many shots. police arrived and found multiple gun shot victims as well. three men from the scene were taken to einstein, one in critical condition shot in the back. police say the evidence is at least 12 shots were fired several of those bullets slammed into a house on the south side of kings dale occupied by a mom and her two children. >> four stray bullets went through the first floor living room windows of the property. inside the property at the time were a 32-year-old female with her two children ages 10 and 12, both boys. fortunately very lucky for all three of them they were upstairs on the second floor asleep when these four stray

bullets came through the window. >> reporter: okay, a chalk mark again on the street here of one of the 12 bullet -- one of the 12 shell casings discovered by police. the mom and the boys were not hit despite bullets going through the house there at the point in time police say the shooter fled the scene in a white vehicle. that's all the description we have is no description on the shooter and only a white vehicle as far as the get awaregetawaycar. john rawlins channel6 "action news. >> a man was murdered in camden overnight. the metro force is on the case. throughout-year-old victim was slot in the back at eighth and jefferson streets just after midnight and later died at the hospital. police are talking to potential witnesses to help determine who shot the man and why. surveillance video here shows two men wanted for a robbery spree near temple university. many of the victims are students. investigators believe the men have carried out at least six

armed holdups in north philadelphia over the past two weeks. the robbers are stealing wallets and cell phones. no one has been hurt. >> ♪♪ >> and happening today former pa senator rick santorum is expected to say he's getting into the already crowded field for the republican presidential nomination. he's scheduled to make an announcement later today in his hometown of butler pa near pittsburgh. santorum was the republican runner up to mitt romney in 2012. happening today testimony is scheduled to begin in the trial of a bucks county man. he's accused of killing a pregnant woman and her four-year-old daughter. prosecutors say marcel johnson stabbed ebony bailey and rahman knee rankins in november of 2013. he allegedly set their levittown apartment on fire after those killings trying to cover up the murder. johnson could get the death penalty. >> developing this morning search efforts are under way for more victims of the deadly storms and flooding in texas. severe weather has killed more than a dozen people and more are still missing.

flood waters deepened across much of the state yesterday as storms dumped almost a foot more of rain on the houston area. the blanco river crested three times above flood stage. 5:36 and this is also developing. six fifa officials were arrested overnight in a corruption scandal there has shaken the world sport. an indictment in new york is expected to name up to 14 officials with the international soccer governing body. swiss agents conducted raids in zurich where members of fifa were gathered for an election. the corruption is related to the selection of qatar for the 2020 world cup in which philadelphia was in the running. more on this story at 6:00 a.m. >> going to be big around the world, that one. let's take a look at accuweather and what we can expect today. >> yeah, they say some like it hot and those people will be happy this week. it's warm and sticky out there. all right too. let's take a look at storm tracker six live double scan around the region and we're dry. starting out the day dry. much of the daytime today dry

but storms coming in later dan they could be pretty strong. let's go on outside. i want to show you what it looks like. looking pretty good here as we look live at the ben franklin bridge on sky six. we do see lots of clouds up above but dry conditions. staying sticky for your highlights this week and tracking some downpour pours later on this afternoon. looking at that current temperature, 72 degrees already this morning. the dewpoint way up there, 66. you're feeling the humidity. the winds are pretty light 8 miles an hour out of the south and the barometric pressure is holding steady. satellite6 and action radar showing that we do have a fair amount of clouds. we'll see some sunshine mixing with the clouds and you can start to see these storms just beginning to take shape, really just some showers that are out there to the west. when that ignites with the heating of the day that's when you get the storms that come through the area and we could show you what that looks like on future tracker six. this is a look at 5 o'clock this evening drive time for so many people and we see the storms developing well out to the north and west at this point hitting the lehigh valley and some of the darker shades of red and purple showing some really good downpours coming with these

storms. kind of breaks apart a little bit as it starts to move through the city. this is a look at 8:30 in the evening. looks like we could be dry in the city until later on this evening. and then we watch these storms try to make it through to south jersey, so some people getting some strong downpours with this and that's one of the greatest threats. the severe probability the storm prediction center has us at a low risk for gusts up to 60 miles an hour with any one of these storms and certainly some downpours with the humidity that we have through the area. so here's how your day is going to play out. by 8:00 a.m. it's 76 degrees, lots of clouds and some sun. by 11:00 a.m., 82, warming up and feeling humid. 86 degrees by 2:00 p.m. by 5:00 p.m., 87 degrees. that's when we'll start to see those storms move through from west to east. even though our high is 87, it's going the feel like it's at least 90 when you factor in the humidity through the afternoon. here's a look at your exclusive accuweather 7-day feeling humid today with some scattered storms especially in the northwest. 87 degrees for your high and

in the day. good idea if you have an afternoon flight coming in or going out to check with flight tracker. >> it's going to be 87 degrees, matt. that pavement is going to be cooking. >> you know what, though, i am not complaining about the warm weather at all this year, i promise because i complained so much over the winter about the cold weather, i'm loving the warmth. going to try and keep loving the warmth. we're not living this situation this morning, matt and tam. it's this truck accident on the pennsylvania turnpike westbound side approaching bensalem. that's route one and the update is now we're hearing they think it's going to be another hour until they can get everything cleaned up here and all lanes reopened. at this point the right lane is still blocked. that means you're already seeing slowing with speeds in the 30's as you come west from new jersey into pennsylvania and pass that accident scene approaching bensalem. better news westbound approaching fort washington. the debris that we told you about is being cleaned up so everything is reopened there and looking good. but today during the midday once again byberry road will not be opened. lower moreland, that's construction going each day this week from 9:00 until

3:00. head for county line or maybe tomlinson as some alternates. last night big new paving project got under way on 11 miles of 611 in montgomery county. they started southbound at edge hill road. should be wrapping up in the next few minutes. it's an overnight project but they'll continue week nights through the end of july so watch out for the rough road surface there this morning in the southbound lanes. it's camera time near chester county, 30 bypass approaching route 100. we expect more midday construction here in the eastbound lanes from 9:00 until 3:00. could slow you down then. and we're still watching that crash this morning in vineland involving the vehicle that ran off the roadway into the woods along orchard road at elm road. i think i would use 47 delsea drive and walnut road instead. let's grab the ipad do the commuter report on this early hump day morning. we're getting reports of a pothole in stan done delaware along telegraph road i think that was out there yesterday morning, too much hopefully they get out there and patch it before too long. matt. >> thanks matt. authorities in cape may county busted a widespread student sexting ring and one

school official believes investigators have only cracked the surface of a much deeper problem. erin o'hearn is live at the big board with that story. erin inch it's a troubling story. this was a big bust matt. it involved 20 students altogether, 19 juveniles and one 18-year-old. all charged with invasion of privacy were from cape may regional high and teitelman middle school which is all a part of lower cape may regional school district. now, investigators say last month a female student told school officials boys were passing around naked pictures of her friend via text which led to police seizing 30 cell phones which had images of partially nude or nude girls. what may be more troubling is the superintendent says this may not be the end of it and believes there are more students involved and more nude pictures. according to parents this was all a part of some game in which the girls were actually aware the boys were trading those pictures and several girls actually shared the

photos. so far no female students have been charged. something that is not settling well with one parent who did not want to be identified. >> we need to step back and really take a full look at this. i mean, the girls are just as responsible as the boys. >> reporter: many of the students who are charged have retained attorneys and "action news" is told they're cooperating with police but invasion of privacy is third degree crime and could come with jail time for that 18-year-old student who has been charged. tam. >> okay, thank you erin. the penn state fraternity linked to a nude photo scandal has been suspended for three years. school officials say some kappa delta rho members ran a secret facebook page full of photos. the investigation revealed some members engaged in sexual harassment and hazing. >> police identified the attackerrer in a stabbing and suicide near yale university. the man was tyler carlisle. the recent grad had returned

to an off campus apartment and stabbed 21-year-old student alexander mushar. he's in stable condition. then police believe carlisle jumped to his death. police say the men were acquaintances but declined to elaborate. >> 5:47 now. police in montgomery county didn't have to go far to arrest two suspected drunk drivers. >> we know who will be partying on the parkway for this year's wawa welcome america celebration. karen. >> love that. let's take a look now. if you're dressing the kids the shorts and t's will do it. we've got a warm one today and it's sticky, too. details in that accuweather forecast coming up.

>> ♪♪ >> 5:55. good morning everyone, it is wednesday, live look at center city philadelphia, 71 degrees right now getting up to 87. look out for thundershowers and heavy rain. a gps device led a man and woman straight to a dui arrest in montgomery county. police say richard schnee of bensalem was following ardean smith of north jersey to a motel in fort washington. she was leading the way with the help of her gps which somehow put them at the upper dublin police station instead. officers asked them why they were there and smelled alcohol. they ordered field sobriety tests for the pair and then booked them under suspicion of driving drunk. >> a russian waitress is getting a lot of attention on social media for what looks like standing up to a customer. video was posted to youtube. the waitress shoves the man when he tried to stuff money down her shirt.
