a cold front a squall line, most of the region does not see severe weather and there is one cell over chester county that has the potential for damaging winds a severe thunderstorm warning for this region from kennett square west of royersford and westchester until 5:15 this evening, this cell is moving in the northeast at 35 miles per hour, so double scan live showing the red that is rain falling at the rate of up to 2 inches per hour, it's torrential rain and lightning and gusty winds frazier and malvern and devon all in the path of the storm. get inside when you hear the thunder get inside. when we extend to the north this is not where it's quite as strong we have gusty winds with this. i do want to show you this. you see the line of green that is actually known as an outflow

unexpected problems southwest houston, a casket with a body inside was unearthed and floated on to a roadway, they called police and they transported it to a medical examiner and noeshlg picture, residents are on the washing to be on the lookout for displaced wildlife an alligator found its way to an office building off the freeway, an expert was called in and they brought the alligator to the farm. these are images we expect to get throughout the week. world news will have more after "action news." in the lehigh valley the son of allentown's police chief is on trial for allegedly pointing a gun at two undercover police officers. walter perez is live in allentown with the full story.

>> reporter: rick, opening statements were made this afternoon in the case involving 23-year-old christopher fitzgerald the son of allentown police chief joel fitzgerald. they are presenting what they see as an open and closed case of road rage but the defense says he feared for his life. >> christopher fitz verld was giving a ride to his girlfriend to the mall with his son in the backseat, it ended with this captured on cell phone video. >> lay down! >> it all started when fitz girard was traveling down and he was brake checking a vehicle that he believed was tailgating, two in athat vehicle were two lehigh county undercovering detectives, he pulled over and

opened the door and allegedly pointed a gun at the officers who quickly started to back up their vehicles after fitzgerald drove away the plain clothes detectives called police and followed at a distance they made the arrest with the baby still in the car, but fitzgerald's defense attorney paints a different picture, his client feared for his life because at the time fitzgerald was a lehigh county corrections officer and the two men that were tailgating him could have been anyone with a beef against his family. >> a few final notes fitzgerald had a permit for the gun and was fired from his job after the allegations were made and nobody was injured. the charges again him include aggravated assault, excuse me simple assault and reckless endangerment. walter perez channel 6 "action

news." >> thank you. >> police in atlantic city are piecing together what happened at an atlantic city hotel room after a baby was rushed to the hospital police got a call that a 2-month-old was in distress at a hotel room in bally. police in camden is are searching for the man that killed -- at 37th and 8 streets the victim was shot in the back and the 32-year-old man was rushed to cooper hospital and he was pronounced dead. no suspects or motives in this case. scooters are an easy economical way to get around any city but now a group of thieves discovered how popular that mode of transportation is and they are going around at night scooping up scooters in philadelphia. >> reporter: it's a crime that rises as the temperature rises but this spring brought a

particularly bad string of motorcycle and scooter thefts to south philadelphia and center city and in almost every case the scooters are locked up but these thieves are bold and resourceful, as you are about to see in this surveillance video released by philadelphia police. >> may 25th a white econo line van pulled up to a garage at 13th and locust. one man behind the wheel and two others got out. they wheeled out two motorcycles loading them into the back of the van motorcycles and scooters are disappearing off the streets of philadelphia at an alarming rate over the past to months this map shows exactly where it happened. >> since april 1st we have 19 scooters or motorcycles stolen in primarily south philadelphia. two have been stolen in center city. >> they are cheap you know, the

bike is almost $4000 that is gone. >> sean is a manager of south philadelphia scooters. he hearing from his customers that had their scooters stolen in recent weeks, most of the bikes that are stolen are locked but they lift them off a pole if it's low. that is what happened to this scooter that was found in camden. >> they throw it in a big van and off they go. >> he recommends buying a heavy duty lock that comes with a price tag of more than $100. >> make it harder and easier to go to the next person that probably won't be locked. >> bring your scooter or motorcycle inside and keep an eye out for suspicious vans in the area. >> if the bikes are out there

health check tonight something pairly talked about in the open, now social media sites are making it easier for abuse victims to find support. ali gorman joins us with more. >> this is one of those sites a facebook page called abuse no more, a therapist and survivor i spoke to says putting this issue out in the open could be life saving, as a licensed social worker, sherry helps victims of abuse, without help studies show people that endure emotional or physical abuse are more likely to have problems with drugs

alcohol and depression, as a survivor of child abuse herself, sherry faced her own issues. >> it led to problems, i didn't trust people and i didn't like to be alive sometimes. it was not until she started to talk about the abuse until the healing began. the sooner a victim speaks about the abuse the better off they will be in the future. on sites like abuse no more on facebook making it easier to speak up and find support. once you find people that say that shouldn't have happened to you, or it wasn't your fault and with more than 138 thousand likes victims realize they are not alone there are private discussions and many post comments and encouraging words. >> images and words and figure that is hopeful could be

we go from steamy to stormy, a broken line moving into buck county and the leading part of the storm is crossing 202 into norristown and moving east at 35 miles per hour, and we have 22 lightning strikes associated in

>> meteorologist adam joseph is here. >> as we take a live look now back at the camera from philadelphia international airport ominous clouds and you can see the clouds trying to sink they look like they are bubbling downward and that is part of the strong winds coming out of the storms as they approach philadelphia international airport in fact as we look at the severe thunderstorm warning it includes the airport and all of montgomery county and north eastern county and buck county as well as north western parts of burlington county near mount holly, this is the zone where we see strong winds lightning as well as torrential rain, there is the airport there on double scan live radar about to

approach the airport and causing delays and at least a ground halt temporarily call the airline if you head there in the next hour or so. this particular storm is heading towards landsdowne in southwest philadelphia before 6:00 and south philadelphia just before the 6:00 hour and balkan cynwyd be this particular storm not so much on the severe side we are tracking it to the north and east tracking over parts of north and east near flower town and another area that is seeing a downpour with some lightning with it. some gusty winds near princeton moving away, with lightning strikes in the last 15 minutes, they are not in a solid line and they are on their own hitting particular counties within that zone of a severe thunderstorm warning. also double scan live radar we

can slice the storm in the vertical because we have the two beams and they are reaching heights of over 30000 feet in the atmosphere that is where the commercial airlines will fly and that is why it could disrupt some of the flights here this evening. where the rain has passed through muggy and high dew points, it fells luke a steam bath out there once the storms pass through, and the winds coming off the water and the winds off the water will stabilize the atmosphere in southern new jersey and tell wear, as this line passes through philadelphia it should fall apart and future tracker confirming that as it bumps no the marine air they start to fizzle out east of the philadelphia and after that not a drop of rain in southern new jersey through the midnight hour with must be a lingering downpour or thunderstorm near philadelphia. the early storms passing through philadelphia to the west and
