section. police say the man was stabbed in the chest and back backside they are looking for an unidentified woman who ran from the scene. the search is on for a gunman in a deadly shooting in south philadelphia. the action cam along 1600 block of south 18th street. someone opened fire striking a 47-year-old man in the chest. police rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. a sexual assault suspect was on the run. he is under serious pressure to surrender from police and his own mother. "action news" reporter, david henry is live at police headquarters with the latest developments. >> reporter: good morning, tam he has good reason to run, he has done 1 years in jail, but -- 12 years in jail, but philadelphia police and u.s. marshals are hot on his tail. there's no sign of him yet that has caused a desperate plea from his mother to turn himself in.

>> i need you to come home, son. turn yourself in. get this over with. >> reporter: police are looking for her 32-year-old son after the public identified him from surveillance photos we've been airing on 6abc. we're withholding his name until police identify him as the man who robbed and sexually assaulted a woman in south philadelphia. he was recently let out of prison for attempted murder. he stole the victim's car and returned and sexually assaulted her. >> goes to the boldness of this particular individual that he could feel he could enter the property not once, but twice and getaway with that. >> reporter: police believe he committed a similar crime 6 blocks away in march. police hit three locations looking for the suspect. they were close but he gave them the slip every time. they searched his mother's house, they recovered the

distinctive orange gloves and the hoodie and sneakers he was seen wearing in surveillance videos. his mother want him safe. he could be killed. >> reporter: obviously the suspect doesn't want to go back to jail he already did 12 years and looking at another long stretch and if convicted on the assault charges he could be facing more. toms river, new jersey, is cleaning up the mess this morning after all the flash flooding. last night's storm dumped 3 inches on the town. police say several people had to be rescued. residents were warned torched higher ground. dozens of cars were stranded needing a tow. we were going over the seaside bridge and a wave of water went right over. i never saw anything this bad ever. >> storm drains couldn't keep up with the deluge from the sky.
