live, welcome to the poconos jim thorpe seeing a few passing showers. it may be a brief downpour and that is bit. most of the viewing areas dry. main event is new to the west. we have a line broken line of showers and thunderstorms beginning to develop out ahead of the cold front you can see to the top of the screen there. those storms are severe as they, move toward the east at about 20 to 25 miles per hour, we're getting tons of lightening strikes with these. we're also seeing a very wrapped intensification with these storms. as they move east, i want to say these could be on the stronger side possibly severe and abrupt in the delaware valley as well. day planner looks like this 87 by 3:00. by 6:00 85. western suburbs at that point probably seeing hit or miss thunderstorms and mess of us at least west of the delaware river seeing thunderstorms by 9:00 this evening. cooling down a bit with temperatures dropping back down in the 70's. most of today is dry. we have outdoor plans but later this afternoon and into the evening hours keep an eye to the sky things could get active.

including a 12 year-old boy are recovering today after a two reek will crash in philadelphia's park side section. action cam on the scene last night near 40th street and girard avenue. impact of the crash caused one of the vehicles to roll roll over briefly trapping the the two people inside. the boy and the 50 year-old woman were taken to the hospital in stable condition. in word yet if either driver faces charges. philadelphia police are investigating an overnight shooting that left a man fighting for his life. it happened near intersection of north seventh and green streets in the city's northern liberties section around 2:00 this morning. twenty-eight year-old man was hit and rush to hahnemann hospital in critical condition, so far police have no suspects or motive, in this shooting. police are also investigating a shooting that sent two men to the hospital, nearly a dozen shell casings were found at the scene on the 1900 block of north 28th street in strawberry mansion. one bullet hit the front window of the truck police say one man was taken to temple university hospital in critical condition another

next leg of the solar plane journey has begun. it took off from china for a five day five night flight to hawaii across the pacific ocean. the plane is powered only by the sun. the goal, to fly around the world without using a drop of oil, the the journey started in march in ab id abi, to promote energy use. plane is expected to live there back in july. a nine two-year old cancer survivor is trying to break the record for the oldest woman to complete a marathon. harriet comp ton of charlotte north caroline ace running rock and roll marathon in in san diego this morning. this is her 16th time running the race and he has already broken one record. the last year she finished the race in seven hours, seven minutes and 42 seconds beating the previous record for a woman 90 or older by more than an hour and a half.

after 6:00 is when this activity flares up, western suburbs first. advancing east during the overnight hours. by 11:30 this evening it looks like everybody north and west of the delaware river is fair game for heavier showers and then are storms. we will catch a break tonight. things are quiet. first thing tomorrow morning. then by afternoon is there the front sitting overtop of us. numerous showers thunderstorms developing. drenching downpours a good possibility. later this afternoon storm prediction center has placed part of our area under a slight risk for severe weather. this area in yellow. what we're on the look out for is strong gusty wind. some wind could exceed 60 miles an hour if we get good thunderstorms holding together and marching east throughout the evening hours. then we will get into later tonight, monday morning and then monday afternoon. we will take rainfall totals and it looks like they will range from one and three-quarters of an inch in allentown to 3 inches in millville. whole area looks to be a good soaking out of this system over the next 24 to 48 hours. if you are down the the shore

bernhisel was killed by blunt force trauma and stabbed in the neck. the his body was discovered thursday on second street by a man who was walking his dog. the death has been ruled a homicide. anyone with any information about this case is asked to call 911. family and friends are preparing to say good bye to three members of the washington d.c. family, who are held captive in their home and killed. funerals services will be held tomorrow for s a v as, his wife, and his young son. they along with their housekeeper were killed on may 14th. their mansion torched. police have arrested one suspect so far and they believe others were involved. authorities in alabama say a man man has confessed to killing his own mother, after a fight over bad grades. the boy is accused of beating his mom to death with the baseball bat in dekalb county on friday. the the 22-year old is a student at university of alabama, birmingham. he and his mother argued over their grade before things turned violent.

bobcat is on the mend after a large brush tire if southwest florida. the rescuers found the little guy hiding in a burned bush. he is only two weeks old. he has a few bumps and bruises and blistering on his paws but he is expect to be just fine. wild life officials say it is possible that the fire just burn over him. they believe his mother will come back and find him but they put him in the safe area but they will go back to make sure he is okay. a long island couple used a popular live streaming app to broadcast their wedding kyle and briana lewis tied the k not and 50 loved ones in the new york city church. hundreds more watched the marriage in a little camera on perries cope. it would be a great way even those who could not make the big way told celebrate right along with them. >> they have a lot of friend and family in other countries. she has family in costa rica
