combat veteran and some of the vice-president lost his battle with brain cancer yesterday at the age of 46. sunday night, and the big story on "action news" is the death of joe biden's eldest son. >> beau biden passed away at walter reed medical center surrounded by his extend family and a short while ago the president and mrs. obama stopped by to offer their condolences. >> we begin our team coverage with "action news" reporter nora muchanic from the delaware church where the biden family worships. >> at the biden family church. st. joseph by brandywine prayers for beau biden one of the first state's most popular politician who's died saturday of brain cancer. >> incredibly sad. he was the nicest person, just again un and truly cared about everybody. >> he was a great bern a great father and politician.

and i think delaware needed him right now. it's a loss. >> the two term attorney general suffered a minor stroke in 2010 and then battled brain cancer. patrick leonard was playing golf with biden's father in law friday. >> it was fifth hole and he gets a phone call and he said he was told, get the grandchildren. go to washington. >> i mean you knew it was not good. >> he was just a guy very understanding and he took the time to listen and then he accounted on what he truly believed in. >> qulos his father, vice-president joe biden delivering nominating speeches at two democratic conventions he leaves behind his wife hallie and two children hunter and natalie, considered a rising political star when he left office in january he made it clear he hoped to run for governor but his brain cancer returned putting an end to political career and claiming his life. >> i'm very sorry to hear about.

was recovering from his injuries and the ceremony took place at his bedside. this is the first time a sitting president or vice-president lost a child in office. the last was in 1963 when john f. kennedy prematurely son died two days after birth. >> as we said, beau biden was considered a rising political star. the decorated iraq war veteran served two terms at delaware attorney general. last year he said he would not seek a third term so he could plan a run for governor in 20 16. vernon odom has reaction now from dell telling's close knit community. >> family connections gave him obvious less up in politics he was deeply respected in government circles known as hardworking, hard-charging attorney general for two terms and decorated combat veteran in iraq and devoted father and family man. many saw him as delaware's next

in some spotty storms are expected in our region in coming hours with strong areer storms later tonight. meteorologist melissa magee was at the "action news" big board with our first check on the forecast. melissa. >> sarah, it's all because of this stubborn frontal boundary that dips south and east. until the moisture arrives we have a lot of warmth and lot of humidity overhead. currently in philadelphia, coming in at 86 degrees. reading, 86. upper 80s as well in dover. cooler along the coast. beach haven 70 and 69 degrees in sea isle city. we'll talk about the humidity because that's a level of moisture in the atmosphere and any time you have dew point between 65 and 70 you know the atmosphere is loaded with a lot of moisture. we'll show what you is going on in the big picture. stormtracker 6 double scan radar we're tracking showers and storms all around the delaware and lehigh valleys. there's a frontal boundary that is not making much progress south and east. the best dynamics currently to

find strong showers and storms are north and west of that 95 corridor. but as we go through the rest of tonight and into the overnight hours the pattern looks to be more active across the region and in fact the storm prediction center placed our area in low probability of finding some severe weather especially as the frontal boundary continues to dip to the south. the only exception will be extreme coastal sections of south jersey and to the south of dover. so we look at the storms and risk assessment with the storms, moderate concern tonight for lightning heavy downpours is a big concern especially as we go tloout through the overnight hours and strong wind as well. low concern for large hail and isolated tornadoes. pattern looks unsettled still for start of our workweek the details in the full and exclusive accuweather forecast, sarah. >> thank you, those impending storms are causing delays at philadelphia international airport tonight. taking a live look from sky6 at the airport, we're learning that there are 50 minute delays on arrivals and we'll keep you posted if that changes. and u. of course, our "action

the ballpark with exclusive visito and to explain this story. any. annie. >> eagles security confiscated the drone and they do plan to trurn to the operator tonight. so far police say no charges were filed but they need to confer with faa to see if there will be any penalties against this man. there are faa restrictions about flying over large stadiums, large gatherings and within the airport flying space. also phillies and eagles have their own rules and restrictions about drones flying over their private property and taking images. >> philadelphia police, philadelphia philly's security and eagles security stopped speak to this man after he allegedly flew this drone off a parked citizens bank park spotted somewhere over third base but not clear how high the drone made it. phillies staff saw it from inside the ballpark and it handed outside of the ballparkch

the man flying the drone cooperated with police and security involved. eagles security confiscated drone and according to police they will return it. they need to investigation where the man was stand when he controlled the drone and it has to stay with a controller's line of sight and also it's not clear if he was on eagles or phillies property. eagles have a posted sign about restrictions and the man also had a gun but according to police, he had a license to carry. and according to police from both stadiums the security rather from both stadiums are allowed to detain somebody flying a drone to see if they're doing something criminal in this case they believe this man was just doing it as aa hobby and police say they plan to con ferp with faa tomorrow to see if he will face any penalties. now reporting live in south philadelphia, annie mccormick, "channel 6 action news." >> all right. thank you, annie. it was a very special graduation ceremony at swathmore college today there a young man received
