5:31 am
the next half hour or even in some spots beyond the 6 o'clock expiration and you run into flooded conditions turn around be go around that stuff, don't drive through it or walk through it. we have area flood advisories still down in south jersey and dover. this is where some of the heaviest rain fell and again roads and streams may be running high there still as well. as we look out to their west a lot of cloud cover in store today. cooler air in place an few more sprinkles and showers as we roll through the day but nothing that is going to impact additional flooding. 54 degrees in philadelphia right now, 56 in wilmington, just 52 in allentown, 60 in sea isle city. more tests likely today as you head back to school, kids. i know my son had a slew of them yesterday. 54 degrees right now. your storm tracker six app. your high did is going to be on the cool side, 63 degrees. at least it's not as humid and rainy as yesterday. your seven-day forecast with more changes and a warmup coming eventually karen. that's ahead. >> all right dave as we look at the schuylkill expressway you can see we're starting to dry out on some of the

roadways. just some light showers that have been affecting the area here on montgomery drive so roads looking pretty good. a couple of trucks off to the side on the off ramp there but not causing too much of a problem. on the big picture in west philadelphia a fire location, although under control you want to watch for a crew that at 54th and -- walnut street between 54th and 55th. stick to locust to avoid any problems there. the phils play tonight at 7:05 so yes there will be congestion in south philadelphia. i want to give you the latest on this accident that took down a polely in marlton and 70 westbound between 73 and cropwell road currently blocked. watch for that with route 70 being blocked through this area, a vehicle now loaded onto the flatbed tow truck so they're trying to get ready to clear this accident scene but in the meantime just stick to marlton pike or greentree road instead. david talked about the flood advisories still in south jersey and delaware areas where we had five to 6-inches of rain. you're still dealing with flooding like here in chesilhurst on the white horse pike flooding blocking the right lane. flooding blocking the left

"action news" reporter katherine scott is lie live in pennsauken. >> reporter: three car fires within blocks each other all within an hour. two in pennsauken, one in camden. two of the cars have been towed but we're standing by a mercedes that remains parked here on woodland in pennsauken and you can see that the tires are flat on this vehicle. the fire department and police were called out to all of these scenes overnight. in pennsauken the calls came in around 1:15 this morning. they both came in within minutes. one was on woodland avenue by garden and the mercedes was cordoned off. you can see investigators collecting evidence.

5:38 am
in the region. cars were creeping along a drenched route 322 in sicklerville road in williamstown gloucester county. in thornbury pennsylvania the downpours called poor visibility. in newark delaware the underpass looked more like a stream when the waters suddenly flooded that road. >> dave murphy is here to tell us the worst is over. >> yeah, the worst is over. i would still be careful driving around particularly in parts of south jersey and anywhere where the storm drains tend to back up because we're in the process of trying to get that water that came in last night to drain but in terms of active precipitation not a whole lot going on right now. in fact, this is just really becoming less and less every time we look at it. there are some very light sprinkles and showers a lot in new castle county delaware, some extending into south jersey, a little bit in southeastern pennsylvania but it's all highlighted in that bright shade of green which tends to be the light precipitation that really isn't having all that much of an impact. careful of the storm drains. they're still draining and don't drive or walk through any flooded areas please p as we look outside, cloudy skies
5:39 am
at the all right. it looks like the air field is beginning to dry out quite nicely though, and you'll notice as you step outside how cool and comparatively accidentcomparativelycomfortable it is assuming don't have an umbrella up for a shower. 54 degrees is all we've got in philadelphia right now. the dewpoint low so doesn't feel as humid and winds out of the northeast kind of refreshing at 16 miles per hour. maybe a light jacket as you head out this morning. does look like it's going to stay kind of and cloudy today. there's the chance of an additional sprinkle or shower popping through at times. of course the big problem has been the rain that we already had overnight. in philadelphia we actually set a record for rainfall on monday with 1.96-inches for that date. wilmington 3.80-inches for june 1st, a new record and 2.22-inches in atlantic city, also a record and storm tracker six live double scan technology showing you the heavy hit of five to 6-inches that we got right along route 322 near hammonton and then over toward buena and malaga,
5:40 am
route 55 also picking up quite a bit of this. so, it's these areas of south jersey in particular that really got hammered and might still have some of that water trying to drain. in terms of active rain today, it doesn't look bad. between now and noon, just some light sprinkles and showers. the afternoon mostly dry and by 6 o'clock maybe a couple of sprinkles here or there. later tonight at 11 o'clock there's the chance of another shower building in but again none of this particularly looks all that bad or the sort of thing that will exacerbate flooding. 53 by 8 o'clock. the other part of the story how cloudy and cool it will be, 56 by 11:00 and 62 by 2 o'clock. expecting a high of only 63 degrees today. breezy cloudy for the most part and cool with that occasional passing sprinkle or shower. high temperatures across the region only about 60 in allentown, low 60's down the shore and more of the same in the i-95 corridor. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, it does look like it warms up a little bit tomorrow. we get damp but still cool high of 68 degrees, clouds maybe some sunny breaks and occasionally a spotty shower.
5:41 am
i think there's a pretty good chance you're dry for the union contest at ppl park at night, though and then clouds to sun on thursday, 69. that's going to be a really pleasant afternoon. warmer then on friday, a high of 79. perhaps a bit more humid with a late day thunderstorm and for the coming weekend more noticeable humidity on saturday, a high of 80, clouds and sun and a spotty thunderstorm but by no means a washout. on sunday we're back to the 70's, a spotty shower here or there but partly sunny overall and 77 with more clouds and a shower building in on monday. i think you said it, it's kind of a springy seven day a-lot of off and on precip, right. >> all right, well, looking forward to all of the new flowers, all those daffodils. five:41. some nerve a burglar uses a sports car to smash his way out of a california bmw dealership but he didn't get very far. >> undercover agents put t.s.a. screeners to the test at the nation's busiest airports and they failed miserably. karen. >> it's damp here on the roosevelt boulevard and you can see the low clouds here.
5:42 am
reduced visibility causing just a bit of an issue. that's southbound traffic moving okay right there. we'll check 422 and have an update on that accident that smacked into a pole when we come back. >> a pennsylvania man is accused of posing as a police officer to try and pick up drunk drivers but it was he, police say who had too much to drink. that's later. >> ♪♪

experiencing due to these heavy rains. a little sinkhole opened up along a street in hammonton atlantic county, new jersey, not enormous but enough to cause problems for motorists. police have north third street near pratt street blocked off because of this two by 3-foot sinkhole. >> little is relative karen if your front wheel was in that you wouldn't think it was so little. >> you're not kidding. isn't that the truth. you have to be careful of anything like that obviously and we always talk about not to drive through flooded roadways. that's something you may encounter as you're headed out. be aware that it might take you a little longer to head to work today. let's check the suburban traffic report for you right now. looking at 422 at 29. we can see the fog that's in the area. that's your eastbound traffic. already traveling just a little slowly as you head towards oaks so expect that wet roads in many areas drying out and reduced visibility in some spots as well right now. and we also have other issues around the region. marlton 70 westbound between 73 and cropwell road we had an accident where somebody
5:46 am
smashed right into a pole and brought it down so for awhile it was completely blocking the road. they have now pushed it off to the shoulder here so a vehicle is already on the flatbed tow truck. they're getting ready to clear it and now traffic can get by in this area. you might want to stick to marlton pike or greentree road to avoid crews but they're allowing traffic through. in chesilhurst camden county route 30 white horse pike westbound approaching hendrix street flooding blocking the right lane and also in gloucester county in franklin township flooding blocking the left lane and it's no wonder why when we take the look at the reports of how much rain we got. yesterday estimated rainfall totals up to 6-inchs in some spots right near 322 not far from hammonton 5-inches of rainier egg harbor, about 4-inches near buena about 5-inches right near route 55. so areas that are very well traveled you may still see some of that flooding that we're dealing with out there this morning. currently though we're just looking at some clouds in the region and some lighter showers through the region so not causing too many problems
