now on this wednesday june 3rd. karen rogers is off. dave murphy has your accuweather and matt pelman has traffic. good morning. >> and it's another cloudy cool start across the region matt and tam. we have some sprinkles and showers especially south of philadelphia moving through wilmington into parts of south jersey. this is light nuisance stuff. by cape may another line of shower activity. everybody else beneath the clouds for the most part. you can see that on satellite now and there is the chance of a spotty sprinkle or shower today but i think most of the daewoo just dealing with clouds and then maybe this afternoon some sunny breaks especially across the northern half of the region. 55 degrees in philadelphia. 53 in trenton, 55 in dover 55 -- or 54 i should say in sea isle city. pretty even numbers from north to south. as we head out the door expecting to stay in the 50's between six and 8 o'clock. most of you looking at a cloudy and cool bus stop this morning. we are halfway there kids through finals week for a lot of your schools. 55 degrees for your storm

tracker six app right now. probably about the same by 8 o'clock with a couple more sprinkles and showers around. by noon 63 and we are going for a high of 67 this afternoon probably around 3 o'clock and again hoping for some sunny breaks in some neighborhoods later on. quickly i want to show you the pollen count. it is low thanks to all the rain we've had the last couple days. getting even lower as we head into the weekend so a little break in that regard. we are getting warmer in the accuweather 7-day forecast. i'll let you know when coming up in a couple of seconds there -- maybe it's a couple of minutes, ma it's. >> who's counting. all right, good morning david. good morning, everybody. we are watching the travel times counting those this morning and so far they look pretty good. right on time here along 95 in the great northeast by cottman avenue. headlights coming southbound. we're seeing a few of them but of course no delays just yet and the roadway here is drying out. also drying out along the vine street expressway in center city, everything is reopened on the eastbound side. it was closed overnight for construction. not closed anymore but it will be closed again tonight starting at 11:00 in both

directions along the vine. we had a downed tree early this morning along the kelly drive near fountain green by the grant statue. that got that cleared out of the way. kelly drive reopened. there's still downed liars in wynnewood blocking off wynnewood road at lancaster avenue by the shopping center. stick with remmington or church road as some alternates. in warrington a big tree branch in the roadway along limekiln pike between upper state and the 202 parkway. might want to use an alternate like picker town road through that neck of the woods. the ben franklin bridge still a little bit wet this morning but overall traffic is moving fine. had the construction on the westbound side but that's not slowing us down. matt. >> thanks matt. new information on a breaking story you first saw on "action news" at 4:30. two people were injured in a two alarm fire in pleasantville atlantic county. the fire broke out on the 100 block of charles avenue just before 3 a.m. one person is being treated for burns and is in serious condition. it's not clear how the second

person was hurt but we now know that person is in stable condition. firefighters worked for 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control. and developing fire strikes the same chester street for the third time in less than a week and officials are working to see if they are more than just a strange series of coincidences. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live along bickley place with the full story. katherine reporter: matt, no injuries were reported but there is a lot of damage here especially after all three of these fires. this fire from last night started in that end row home right here but there have been two other fires reported in recent days in some of the neighboring homes. six homes are damaged and authorities are trying to figure out why. >> my mother is 76 years old. she has woke me up saying it's a fire. i couldn't believe it. again? >> reporter: a third fire in a matter of days on this chester block. now six row homes all next to each other on the 400 block of bickley place have been

damaged or destroyed. more than 20 people have been displaced. >> i believe that it's some crooked -- something cooked going on. >> reporter: the first in a series of fires started saturday in four went to bickley an unoccupied house. then early monday morning firefighters were back battling a blaze that began in 418 also vacant. that one spread to several more homes. last night around 10:00 crews arrived to heavy flames in 410 bickley. >> these are at the end of the row. the fire a couple days ago was further down the road. a couple days before that it was even further down the row. >> reporter: the crime scene unit carried evidence from last night's fire scene. neighbors are worried they haven't seen the last of the fires here. >> three fires it's crazy its dangerous. people live here. >> reporter: some of these row homes were unoccupied or under renovations. authorities haven't officially connected these fires together. they are holding a press conference later on today where we expect to learn more. we are live in chester katherine scott, channel6 "action news."

>> okay, thank you, katherine. this is new this morning. a 16-year-old is recovering from a shooting during an armed robbery in reading. this happened at west green and wiser streets late yesterday. the teen told police three men approached him. he he says one robber shot him in the stomach when the teen tried to reach for the gun. the victim suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. reading police say they're following up on leads but so far no one is in custody. and a busy night in boston. an antiterrorism task force arrested one man just hours after shooting and killing another man. sources tell abc news usaama rahim the man killed had been under 24 hour scrutiny for making threats against the police. members of the task force approached rahim yesterday. they wanted to question him but the encounter turned deadly after rahim lumped them with a large military style knife. officers shot him. he died at the hospital. >> 5:35 now. president obama will deliver the eulogy for former delaware attorney general beau biden

during the funeral on saturday. the body of the vice president's son will lie in honor at legislative haul in dover tomorrow afternoon from 1 o'clock to 5 o'clock. there are two viewings scheduled for friday at saint anthony of padua church in wilmington. friends family and the public are invited from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. a funeral mass will be held at the church on saturday morning. that begins at 10:30 a.m. >> questions still remain even after congressional hearing on that deadly train derailment in philadelphia. amtrak ceo joseph boardman apologized to lawmakers yesterday. speed controls that could have been prevented the crash excuse me, were not in place at the time of the accident. a temporary system is now up. amtrak also promises a more modern speed control system will be in place by the end of the year. federal investigators say they still don't know if the engineer brandon bostian was on his cell phone before the speeding train derailed last month. congressman ryan costello from

chester, a member of the transportation and infrastructure -- excuse me -- committee wants more info. >> when you have a hearing and you hear that they don't know whether the cell phone was turned on or if the gentleman was texting or talking on the phone between 9:10 and 9:21, it's just a little hard to accept. >> bostian was also tested for drugs but the results of those tests are still not back. >> let's turn to accuweather and dave murphy. little bit of rain still out there, right. >> little bit, yeah. storm tracker six live double scan shows it to you. keep in mind where you don't see the green there is the the possibility of some drizzle but taking a look at that birds eye view the stuff in south jersey especially close to philadelphia and gloucester and chester county is really beginning to break apart and this is really not much more than nuisance rain at this point. i'll go ahead and move it for you. you can see how it's drifting off to the east and also beginning to fall off the map and farther south in cape may

county there's also a little bit of shower activity here. some slightly steadier stuff highlighted in yellow is moving through wildwood and cape may. it does look like you got a little training going on here where you're going to get one hit after another. maybe not actually. that one is going up towards read's beach. not too much longer for you in cape may. that little cell in wildwood may be clipping stone harbor over the next 15 minutes or so and i'll leave you with that wide view. the rest of you looking at drying roads and cloudy skies. as we look outside we have sky six and there are some of those low lying cloud cover. once again those clouds obscuring the tops of some of the tallest buildings in center city. 55 degrees in philadelphia, your dewpoint at 51. doesn't feel all that humid out there but it is a bit on the damp seemed winds east-northeast at 8 miles per hour, very similar to what we experienced yesterday morning. and future tracker six showing you that as we go through the day there's not a lot of rain and late in the days, maybe as soon as noon in some spots but especially later in the afternoon there is the possibility of some of these clouds breaking up especially

in the northern half of the region so we may see the return of some sunshine later on and in some spots it might be a nice little hit of it. we're going to assume that we stay somewhat cloudy through the first part of the day in philadelphia and if that does turn out to be the case we'll keep our temperatures down a bit. 55 by 8 o'clock, 61 by 11 o'clock. we're going for a high of 67 by about 3 o'clock. now, if we can break some sun out by 2 o'clock we might even add a degree to that temperature and in fact i think it will be a little bit milder up north in places like allentown and in fact allentown we're going for a high of 68 and almost 70 in reading. down the shore mid 60's to low 60. 64 in cape may. a touch of rain possible at times today but basically clouds in the morning and some sunny breaks later. for the phillies tonight trying to make it two in a row against the reds, cloudy and cool, 65 for the first pitch 61 in the ninth. it's still going to be cool at the ballpark tonight but not as chilly as it was last night when we held in the 50's. tomorrow more clouds around, maybe a couple of sprinkles and showers and that is about it. your exclusive accuweather

mentioned -- very official -- one we mentioned going into the break. the downed railroad crossing gates here. high to think for a second matt and tam. you threw me off with your very official question. mark lee street at main street so coming off the danne hower bridge you'll see the police officer here in the intersection directing traffic because, yes the railroad crossing gate is still in the down position. traffic will get by once the police officer let's the traffic get by. not too far away a vehicle broke down the in east norriton this morning. trooper road at germantown pike. no issues at this point along 422 or the northeast extension. a lot of our overnight construction was rained out. had a big tree branch in the roadway in warrington bucks county along limekiln pike between upper state road and the 202 parkway. stick with picker town road or even county line instead of limekiln pike early this morning. we still have those downed wires in wynnewood right by the shopping center blocking wynnewood road. remmington road or church road gets you around that. we have been having a lot of

milling and paving work going along 611. an 11-mile stretch in fact in montgomery county. tonight they're going to start closing edge hill road by 611 in conjunction with the project 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the next few nights so easton road or highland avenue gets you around there work zone. let's do the commuter report early on this had you ever been day morning. one of our friends using the waze app talking about another work zone, this one on the a.c. expressway remembered many westbound as you head towards 42 there in turnersville. you can get by but watch out for that construction right now. matt and tam. >> thank you matt. a bus crash in chicago's famed michigan avenue killed one woman and injured at least eight others. the bus made a turn and collided with several cars before stopping at a pedestrian plaza. a woman became trapped under the bus and later died at the hospital. the driver was the only one on board the bus. witnesses claim the driver swerved to avoid hitting a car that had run a red light. >> a teach interflorida is under fire for using a jammer to stop his students from using their cell phones in class.

erin o'hearn has all the details. she's live at the big board. good morning erin. >> reporter: good morning. that teacher told the school administrator that is students using cell phones during class [inaudible] fight fire with fire by using technology to prevent his students from using it on his watch. so he purchased this jammer thinking if he could interfere with their signaling that students would be more focused. the jammers, of course are illegal. using them can bring thousands of dollars in fines from the ftc and even jail time. in this particular case the jammer may have affected cell phones all around the area because right outside the school is a cell phone tower. the teacher seen there dean liptak received a five day suspension without pay. he told the school he thought it was perfectly fine for him to use the jammer as long as it wasn't for malicious purposes. students and parents admit cell phone use is a big problem in class but say this was not the solution and the

jammer could have impacted the students' safety. >> students have them often in their back packs but the majority of the students at my school have them out during the whole class. >> i'm a parent and i'm over the phones, too, but we got to come to a happy medium. protection and teacher sanity as well. but i think protection outweighs the teach's sanity. >> reporter: liptak has been in trouble before. in 2013 he was reprimanded for using violent test questions. guys back to you. >> thank you, erin. fyi philly went to visit a farm in gloucester county, new jersey, that offers customers a unique way to dine. the food is grown right in their own backyard. here's karen rogers. >> ♪♪ >> this is right behind the market and these are our egg laying chickens. >> reporter: megan bought the 42-acre cecil creek farm a year ago with her husband

especially over the northern half of the region. we'll see if that happens matt and tam. >> thank you david. this is new. a south carolina man is behind bars for taping a dog's mouth shut. caitlyn a 15 month oldtory earlier mix was found in critical condition on a doorstep in north charleston last week. the electrical tape was wound so tight the dog's tongue was caught between its teeth cutting off blood flow. an affidavit claims a man taped the dog's mouth because he was tired of it barking. vets say caitlyn should make a full recovery. >> new this morning a man claims he was harassed for legally carrying a loaded weapon through one of the world's busiest airports. this is jim coolly with an assault rifle strapped to his chest at hartsfield-jackson atlanta international. under a new georgia law gun owners can carry in unsecured areas of the airport. cooley says he was exercising his rights. he complained that police officers as you might imagine were following him. officials say they wanted to ensure the safety of other people there in the airport.

walking along the 1900 block of carpenter street in south philadelphia back on may sixth. they walked past a scooter but then you see them turn around come back pick it up and walk off with it. in each case the locks and chains used to secure the scooter were cut. >> bill cosby wants to keep the lid on a 2006 court settlement involving a philadelphia sex assault lawsuit. three women who are suing cosby in massachusetts cents the lawyer of the philadelphia accuse area former temple university employee a subpoena. cosby's lawyers filed a motion to block it yesterday. the three women who claim they were molested by cosby in the 1970's believe documents from the philadelphia lawsuit will help their cause. cosby has denied wrongdoing and has not been charged with a crime. >> it is 5:57. we're on a developing story. chester officials update their investigation into suspicious fires after more homes go up in flames. >> deal to resurrect a lehigh valley soda company fizzles
