cover around this morning, but we're looking at breaks in the clouds overnight this afternoon we're expecting to dry out and see sunny breaks returning. 57 degrees in philadelphia. notice how once again we have the northeast gentle breeze coming down. that's cooling us down. 57 in allentown, 57 in sea isle city, similar to where we started out the last several mornings. on the backup one of the last mornings for school bus pick up. 56 by 6:00, 57 by 8:00. a spotty shower in some neighborhoods. looks like it will be 57 by 8:00 a.m. when you get off the bus. noon 67 degrees, we're expecting the return of sunshine and high of 74 degrees, that would be an improvement by a few degrees over the past couple of days. the pollen count is low with the showers around and in the medium range saturday and sunday. matt pellman roads are wet in

spots, that may be slowing folks down. >> reporter: we're seeing the spray coming off the vehicles in chester county in the frazier area along 202. come the headlights toward 401. no delays in this typically busy spot. roads are wet so expect slower than normal conditions this morning. pottstown, 100 southbound side at state street an accident involving an deer. without for emergency crews 100 southbound. on the big picture, damp but not too bad on the schuylkill expressway and boulevard. overnight construction on the vine street expressway by the schuylkill expressway has cleared out. everything reopened. conditions not too wet. construction crews return tonight and starting at 11:00 and close the vine once again in both directions. in delran, we have down pole and wires, 130 southbound at bridge borough street, the right and center lanes are closed.

expect delays there as we start things off on this friday morning. >> developing now an armed robbery attempt turned into a shootout at a philadelphia restaurant. the robbers discovered the man they ambushed was an off-duty police officer. katherine scott is live at the scene in the lawndale section. >> reporter: matt, this detective who was off duty was the only customer inside the store, he had just ordered food when all this happened. you can see at this hour, this street risen -- rising sun avenue by tyson remains closed off. the front window from the shop is shattered from the shootout. two men went into rising sun pizza, at least one of them had a gun they put the gun to the detective's head and took $20 out of his had hand. the two robbers turned and pointed the gun at the counter

where the owner and employee were standing. the detective identified himself and pulled out his gun one of the suspects fired two shots at pointblank range and missed. the detective fired back, the suspects dropped the loaded handgun as they fled. two suspects took off running one collapsed in the parking lot and died. the other got away, the search is on. >> we're looking for a male wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt and possibly in his 20s he possibly ran north on the 6000 block of rising sun avenue or east or west in the 500 block of tyson. it is unclear if he was injured in all of this. there are cameras inside and outside the store police have reviewed that. as for the detective he has been taken to internal affairs for an interview which is protocol in

any in a case like this, he is assigned to the northwest division. >> two men face a judge after months on a run. they kidnapped and brutally beat a woman who worked on jewelers row. police arrested the two men who are said to be accomplices of gray who was taken into custody after the april 4th attack. police say the men kidnapped and beat the woman as she was leaving her job as the national watch and diamond exchange. the victim was dumped at a cemetary in darby and able to get help. >> mayor nutter will deliver a keynote address at a ceremony marking the deadly anniversary of a deadly center city collapse. 6 people were killed in the salvation army collapse. a memorial park is being built

showers, but every now and then you get a bright shade of yellow that's a shower that's popping through for five or ten minutes. as we go in close on some of this stuff doesn't look like it's everywhere all at once. the we have cells coming through delaware county. some of the roads are wet. we have new rain on the way. the movement is from the south up to the north. and in in most cases the stuff bothers you from 145 to 30 minutes and -- 15 to 30 minutes and then it goes away and then you have one after that. you can see the tops of the sky scrapers in quld we're looking at -- if philadelphia. we're looking at light showers popping through. winds out of the northeast at 10 miles per hour. similar conditions to with a we had in the last couple of mornings. lunchtime, sprinkles and showers are possible. mainly cloudy skies.

i wouldn't be surprised to see the sunshine return in the afternoon and into the evening hours and up to midnight we're transitioning to partly cloudy skies. the temperatures today start out cool, 57 degrees by 8:00. 63 by 11:00 a.m. we'll get into the mid 70s later, 72 by 2:00 p.m. high of 74 probably around 3:00 p.m. this afternoon again a pretty decent chance of sun returning across the a good portion of the region. won't be bright blue cloudless skies, but we'll have sunny breaks. 75 in reading. if you're heading to the phillies partly cloudy and mild, 71 for the first pitch and 67 at the tail end of the game. tomorrow, 82 in the afternoon. there might be a morning shower around particularly in south jersey and delaware, maybe a rumble of thunder.
