honestly we were so far behind in the rain department. we needed this to catch up. the front lawn is green unless we're north and west of the city where you're dealing with low rainfall totals over the last couple of months. we needed the rain and now things will clear out. it's a peaceful morning up and down the jersey shore. holding on to clouds and patchy fog and cooler temperatures and again, late this afternoon you'll see the sunshine. 60 degrees in quakertown. pottstown, 63. coatsville 62. bridge town, glassboro buena 61. woodbine 60. hammonton, 62 and smyrna, 62 degrees, satellite and radar showing a lot of clouds over the delaware valley this morning thanks to a cold front that is slowly crossing the region. as it pushes through there's the possibility of showers.

greeted mourners. it's the second time he had to bury a child he lost his infant daughter and mother in a car accident in 1972. beau and his younger brother hunter were hurt in that crash. you can watch the funeral service at 6abc.com. our live coverage starts at 10:30. it's all there at 6abc.com. new this morning, a nasty crash on i-95 seriously injured one person. a vehicle smashed through a guardrail and went down an embankment. this happened this morning on the southbound side of i-95 in tinicum township. it's all clear now. in allentown two girls are hospitalized after they both fell from a 4th story window. it happened on the 700 block of turner street last night. a woman walking her dog said she saw the girl's fall with the

window screen on the walk. the girls ages 5 and 3 are in serious condition at lehigh valley hospital. there's a 5,000-dollar reward for information leading to the arrest of a berlin township man 45-year-old michael eitel is wanted for the murder of his former girlfriend carol -- carole browne. she was found with multiple stab wounds in the drive of her home. a suspect was killed in a pizza robbery who opened fire on officer. the suspect was using a gun loaded with blanks. >> reporter: what happened 11:30 thursday night the rising sun pizza parlor, police say an

off-duty detective was inside placing an order when two men walked in and put a gun to the detective's head. took $20 and ordered him to lie down on the floor. the men turned their attention to the clerks at the cashier and announced a holdup. it was then that the detective drew his weapon and identified himself as police. >> there was a gun battle. the perpetrator fired two shots at the detective and the detective returned fire. >> reporter: the detective shot toward the glass the gunman identified as 33-year-old andrew ellerbe dropped his weapon and died outside. >> two shots were fired at the shop at pointblank range at the officer. the officer was extremely luck i was not shot. >> reporter: what's strange is that the gun was loaded with blank cartridges not bullets something that was unknown when the detective was shot. >> he did what he had to do.

unfortunately somebody died, but he defended his life and the lives of others. >> reporter: meanwhile residents think it's odd that anyone would target this pizza parlor since it's known as a popular place for police. >> everybody knows there are cops here. >> unmarked cars and marked cars and bicycles are always there. >> reporter: the case will be reviewed by the district attorney. the detective has been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation. at police headquarters, dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." >> it's been two years since the deadly building collapse at 22nd and market. 6 people died and 14 others injured in the tragedy. families of the victims heard about the latest plans for memorial park. >> we want beauty and hope to a place that's now associated with

horror, a sad and shameful day for all of philadelphia. >> the woman's daughter was among the victims. the mayor announced that the city of philadelphia will donate # hundred thousand dollars to the project. organizers have close to 1 million toward their goal of $1.3 million. one of the survivors finally met the man who saved her life that day. >> we've met before, but i don't know if you remember me but i was the fireman who found you. >> thank you. >> you're welcome. >> reporter: mariah does not remember the fire chief, but she is grateful as you can see he saved her life. she is ukrainian and speaks very little english she is a double amputee and remains in rehab. assessed her life is difficult

>> reporter: in the tree. >> reporter: i thought you meant in the apartment house. >> i'm sure they got in the apartment, too. >> reporter: it's a bad morning for those folks. all right let's talk about the weather back here in the delaware valley. we'll go live on sky 6. we'll start you out with the view of atlantic city. shades of gray out there morning, which has been the look all week long. most of the this week we've been feeling the effects of upper level low which means a lot of clouds and on and off showers and cooler temperatures. this has been a dramatic change in the weather pattern, you remember the week prior to this, we were stuck in the upper 780s he, we hit 92 last sunday with higher humidity levels and temperatures drop into the # 0s, look at tuesday, 58 for tuesday wednesday and thursday, # 0. friday's high, 76 degrees. this time of year, though, now we're up to 80. that's the normal high, it's well below average this past week.

prior to that we were well above. temperatures wise, # -- 65 degrees, the dewpoints are in the low 60s it's a little humid. everybody is showing low to mid 60s. today, we'll have clouds that will give way to sunshine and clouds will hold on long enough to keep the temperatures lower once again. milder than yesterday but lower compared to where we should be. visibility, # miles in lancaster, 3 in wilmington, 6 in trenton. in and around the city looks like the visibility is all right. there's a cold front stretching from new england down to washington d.c. that may trigger showers and brief heavier burst around lunchtime. don't allow that to ruin your day it will not last long when you see the shower.

there's sunday weather right there. high pressure sets up over the great lakes that provides us with a really nice day. we have reds and yellows and darker shades of red around cape may county. this is around lunch time the passage. front. by the time the phillies get going around # p.m., most of the activity is well to the south. mostly sunny, north and west, most cloudy south and east. by evening all the cloud cover will pull away, that's a clear night tonight and nights one coming up tomorrow. 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning clear conditions in and around the immediate area. the weather will be coming from the north. that will suppress the cloud cover to the virginias and the carolinas. the pattern gets ready to change sunday night into monday. series of frontal systems swings through, the humidity increases enough to trigger the showers and thunderstorms. the warm front comes through that will be followed by the cold front. that triggers showers and storms with the potential of downpours.

>> reporter: welcome back everyone, 6:25 saturday morning satellite and radar showing we have a cold front pushing through stretching from new england to the virginias. we had clouds and drenching downpours, what happened we had an area of high pressure sitting here. last week it was supposed to be a nice week. instead a frontal system swept through and stalled across the carolinas and the virginias and an area of low pressure developed across the front and slowly pushed to the north.

each eneveryday the clouds stretch into central pennsylvania triggering showers and downpours because of the high which refused to give its ground. so it stalled everybody back kind of like a traffic jam on the roads. looks like the pattern will give way a little bit. once this front pulls through skies open up this afternoon. on the ocean front lots of clouds high tide occurs between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. seas 2 to 4 feet. not a great beach day but not all that bad either. >> the phillies and giants play ball this afternoon first pitch 3:05. both teams busted out the bats last night. ducis rogers has that. and american pharoah bigot for horse racing triple crown. >> reporter: the phillies began a three-game set with the world series champion giants and the phillies are not ready for prime time to be more specific their

marijuana bust. chris sowers is here with the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. i know we needed the rain this week but we're ready for sunshine. >> reporter: good news i'm going to deliver that. as we look at the camden waterfront, the battleship new jersey, no sunshine out there in fact we have haze and patchy fog setting up. midday we'll see showers pull through and the sun starts to pop up, after the bout of showers, millville 62. we've had a string of cooler days high temperatures below the seasonal averages for this time of the year, which is completely the opposite what we saw the week before when high temperatures are well above the # -- 80s. it was a comfortable week, but gray and gloomy out there. this morning, gray and gloom across new england stretching across the i-95 corridor.

the d.a.'s office is investigating. new on "action news" this morning three people were injured in an overnight crash involving a support column for the septa el. they were in a work van that hit the column on the 4300 block of frankford avenue. one person is hospitalized in critical condition. no word on what caused the driver to lose control. that this morning police in delaware have made a major marijuana bust. police say they found five pounds of marijuana after executing a search warrant in the unit block of elsmere boulevard in elsmere yesterday. when officers searched the home they found several grams of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia. and then they want outside. >> we discovered the defendant had a car parked outside of the residence. we discovered there were five pounds of marijuana located in the trunk. >> the drugs have a street value of $5,000.

the officers took one person into custody on possession charges. they also tips from informants in the area led to the bus. philadelphia police charged two teens as adults in connection with several armed robberies near temple university. harden and anthony was arrested thursday. investigators say they had linked harden to five incidents anthony is charge in two robberies. the philadelphia mother accused of abandoning her disabled son in cobbs creek park is competent to stand trial. the psychiatrist who made the determination said parler does need mental health treatment. her son spent five days in the woods with no food or water after she left town to visitor her boyfriend in maryland. a man suffered life threatening injuries after being
