>> good morning 5:00 a.m. on this monday june 8 we're on breaking news. >> vandal break into a construction site? center city philadelphia overnight creating a serious safety issue. >> a suspected drunk driver is behind bars accused of plowing through a stop sign and killing a teen. accuweather is tracking warmer temperatures and higher humidity and the chance for thunderstorms later. >> reporter: let's find out about that with david murphy and karen has traffic. good morning. >> reporter: good morning everybody, we have clouds around and showers in the poconos that will pass us quickly and then we'll be on look out for more storms later today and tonight. the storm prediction center in

norman oklahoma which predicts storms across the area has us in the low risk category. we think the best place for severe weather is the northern and western suburbs allentown reading, chester and montgomery county and northern bucks county. it's not out of the question that some storms will push through the rest of the region. they could create drenching downpours and localized flooding. 65 if philadelphia. allentown. 61 in wilmington. 61 in sea isle city. comfortable on the bus stop this morning with the temperature ranging from 62 at 6:00 a.m. 67 by 8:00 a.m. on the mild side obviously. as we go through the day noon, 80. 84, more sticky by 3:00 p.m. 85 is the high today that will be right in there about 4:00 p.m. and then we're at 83 by 6:00 p.m. after 5 or 6:00 p.m. in the northern and western suburbs the thunderstorms will start to

erupt and come through the rest of the regional. we'll show you that on future tracker 6 coming up, karen. >> reporter: for now we're dry we have an overnight accident that causing problems newport in delaware southbound 141 is shut down at burnside boulevard. police and emergency workers remain on the scene at this point causing that closure. nye niep at 55 -- i-95 at 55 miles per hour. we can take a look at i-95 cottman norm southbound traffic very light volume it's early yet, roads are looking good and we're not seeing any problems as you head toward center city. on the the schuylkill expressway, 202, northbound eastbound traffic moving okay, we can see all the lanes are open and roads are dry on the schuylkill expressway with an easy five minute ride eastbound between the turnpike and the blue route there. on the big picture, blue route schuylkill expressway and i-95 in good shape.

north franklin street is blocked due to police activity use 9th street to avoid problem there. >> philadelphia police say two juvenile vandals ran amuck inside a center city construction site causing debris to fall on the street below. katherine scott is live at the scene. >> reporter: matt, luckily nobody was hurt by the falling debris. arch street has been opened up, you can see there's a police vehicle stationed outside the building. they climbed up scaffolding to get inside this buildings at broad and arch. let's go to the video of police as they led out the two suspects. an hour long search of the buildings found the suspects on the 18th floor. police were flagged down after debris fell on tow arch street

at the liberty title and trust building. police are not sure if the men were throwing bottles or something else out of the window or threw something out a window and the window broke and fell on the street. the 21 story building is owned by developer wheelan properties. they are in the process of convert, the buildings into a lot of the -- into a hotel. two people were taken out and remain in police custody. live in center city. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> katherine thank you for that. philadelphia police say charges are pending after a suspected drunk driver hit and killed a teen. this happened in the 600 block of west cuyahoga street in hunting park section around 7:00 p.m. the driver ran a stop sign

hitting adelso matos on his bike. the driver is in custody and expected to be charged with homicide by vehicle and dui. police in salem county are looking for the driver in a hit-and-run, as well. a high school student was seriously hurt. 17-year-old kyle pszenny was hit i while skating boarding on hook road in pennsville yesterday morning. he suffered serious head injuries and multiple fractures to his leg. coming up in the next half-hour how the high school plans to show support for his recovery. and delaware state police arrested a man for his 4th dui. 36-year-old jeremy jones of new castle was found passed outside a store inside his carlesha freeland-gaither. he had 200 backs of heroin and three grams of pot inside the car with him, as well. >> city council will hold a

suburbs could pop thunderstorms. as we get into the evening the thunderstorms become numerous and widespread. where they hit they could produce drenching downpours and gusty winds. as we move toward 11:00 and 1130 it's possible they will be she shore, so a bit of a rocky night. the main threat from this is lightning and downpours. i could see flooding in poor drainage areas where the storms hit. there's a moderate chance of large hail while the chance of a tornado is low there's that possibility especially from philadelphia off to the north and west, that's where we think the best chance of that would be. other than that it's going to be warm. 6 degrees by 8:00. 11:00, 76. 83 by 2:00 p.m. high of 85 at 3:00 or 4:00 p.m. before slipping to 84 with warm and muggy conditions by

plane over the runway. no injuries were reported. another successful rescue by the u.s. coast disguard was caught on video. -- coast guard was caught on video. 72-year-old man was having chest pains, he is recovering at a hospital in seattle. and police officer from texas is now on administrative leave after shocking video about how he handled teenagers went viral on social media. officers were called to a graduation pool party at mckinney. the officer is scene grabbing african-american teens and shoving them to the ground. that included a 14-year-old girl in a swimsuit. two teen boys approached as the girl what i would. the officer pulled his gun as he chased them away. >> labron james and the cavaliers evened up the nba finals with another overtime

chaos ensues in north jersey when a rowdy crowd tries to break into a hip hop vep -- venue. >> good morning everybody, we have david murphy has weather and karen rogers has traffic. >> reporter: good morning, guys, we'll be keeping our eyes on the northern and western suburbs today and tonight. some of the storms could produce wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. there's a slight chance of these popping up just about anywhere tonight. there's a slight chance of hail and small risk of tornados popping up in some of the storms the best chance of that would be in southeastern pennsylvania and new castle county, delaware and over to the north and west.
