>> let's turn to dave murphy and karen rogers. good morning to you both. >> all right guys we have storm tracker six live double scan focused in on the southern portion of the region where there is a shower and maybe even a thunderstorm starting to well up in camden county about halfway down the county from philadelphia. there are also a couple of showers out to the south of us down in cape may county. most of that is fairly light stuff popping in and as we take a look, we are going to probably be maintaining fairly cloudy conditions or -- for the morning hours anyway and then we get into the afternoon and we wind up seeing some clouds and sun. might even see some sunny breaks during the morning. we are basically looking excuse me, at warm and humid morning. there is the possibility of some more of these spotty showers popping up a little bit later in the day and we'll see a high of 86 this afternoon. will any of these storms produce any damage potentially like we saw from last night's storms? well, we'll talk more about that in the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast. but for now it's just showers mainly and they are south of philadelphia.

karen. >> all right, roads are a little bit wet everywhere from the storms we got yesterday. looking live on the schuylkill expressway. this is westbound traffic at south street. an accident involving a dump truck blocking the right lane, blocking the shoulder. you see the flashing lights. police have also set up the flares here with this. we're seeing just a little slowing past the scene scene as more people getting up. know traffic is getting by, little slow and we have a tow truck on scene hopefully getting ready to clear that out. watch for that accident on the schuylkill westbound at south street. in southwest philadelphia a fire location on beaumont avenue near 56th. might want to avoid that area and another problem with these storms. we have a downed tree coming into us from lower merion montgomery county. watch for it on ashbridge road between airedale and wakefield roads. you're seeing some restrictions in that area. and a disabled vehicle someone stuck out here in pottstown on west king street, that's 663 right near northbound route 100. so, watch for that one. a few problems this early hour, at a many. >> thank you karen. this is new this morning heavy smoke and flames damaged

a three story building in southwest philadelphia. crews were called out to woodland avenue at 2:00 in the morning. investigators say the fire started at the dollar and grocery store and then spread to apartments above. the fire also caused smoke damage to some of the neighboring row homes but thankfully no reports of any injuries. and a blaze in mercer county, new jersey, has meant an absolute disaster for a number of families. two dozen homes have burned and forced out those residents residents. "action news" reporter katherine scott lie in hamilton township with the latest. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam. this fire moved quickly. residents scrambled to get out. there were no injuries but there is a lot of damage and you can see some of it here this morning. flames tour through the roof. there's debris on the sidewalk. 60 people have been unable to return home: the smoke was heavy, the flames thick and they moved quickly. in the end 20 homes on this hamilton township block were damaged. 60 people have been displaced.

many lost everything having little time to get out of their homes. >> when i walked out, when i turned around and i just was overwhelmed with what i saw. >> my daughter lost her fish in the fire. >> her pet fish. >> five of them. >> she lost her fish but her life is saved. >> reporter: the fire broke out around 3:45 monday afternoon on the 1700 block of east state street. 175 firefighters, some from as far as burlington and hunterdon counties were called in. investigators believe the fire began in the area of the roof, then spread. there was work being done on the roof but investigators haven't determined the source of the fire. >> he was using a blow torch on top of the roof right there. >> we did find workers working on the roof. we're still unsure what the cause of the fire is. >> reporter: the flames jumped from roof to roof and as you take a look here live you can see some of that damage here this morning. 15 of these homes have heavy damage. for those with less damage,

it's unclear when those residents will be allowed back inside of their homes. we're live in hamilton township, katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> katherine thank you for that. it is now 5:05. also new this morning philadelphia police are looking for the armed man who targeted a 7-eleven. it happened on the 3300 block of tyson avenue in the city's mayfair section just before 1:00 in the morning. police say the suspect walked into the store carrying a weapon and demanded money. he ran off with about $300 in cash. no injuries were reported. police are looking for clues in that surveillance video. >> ♪♪ >> happening today, new castle county police plan to release details of their new push to find this woman who may have been abducted last year. investigators she was last seen outside a new castle home on june 30th of 20's 14. the 33-year-old mother had just come back from a quick trip to a nearby 7-eleven when a witness says someone forced her into her acura sedan and drove away. the fbi has joined local police in the efforts to find

trader. police have made two arrests in the murder of a man whose body was found near philadelphia international airport. the body of 40-year-old scott burn highs sell had been stuffed in a suitcase and left in essington delaware county on may 28. 25-year-old thomas brennan of folsom is now in custody and charged with robbing and beating ben highs sell to bernheisel to death. crystal leibhart has also been charged. friends and family held a vigil for adeiry matos. the car hit him while he was riding his bike on west cayuga street sunday night. police are awaiting toxicology results on the driver. >> a second lawsuit has been filed against saint joseph university related to the hazel scandal involving the women's softball too. "action news" broke this story back on april 2nd after

accusation of lewd conduct and drinking forced on freshman players by upperclassmen. the most recent lawsuit accuses saint joe's head softball coach kerry adams of doing nothing to stop at the hazing. in it it alleges "coach adams actively impeded the investigation by informing the players on the team to" plead the fifth when i being investigated ." the university says it is responding appropriately to the concerns and that the investigation is still going on. >> david joins us now. some of us not in the clear yet when it comes to rain. >> not quite. storm tracker six live double scan, we have some sprinkles and showers down to the south of philadelphia and in some cases it's a little bit more than a sprinkle. as we go in a little closer you can see that pushing up past glassboro now there is a pretty decent cell that is dumping a fairly heavy rain right over the northern reaches of the a.c. expressway route 42 really and also route 55. very near where that confluence of roadways occurs not real big.

it won't last for long but it will put down temporary ponding and puddling on the roadways. then this rain stretches back down into salem county. looks like smyrna delaware is now drying out and as we go down south, cape may county, also looking at some generally lighter rain but a little damp this morning. as we take a look outside we have cloudy skies across most of the region including down the shore. and in some cases down the shore south of atlantic city there's a little bit of that rain popping through. temperatures right now are warm, 71 in philadelphia, 70 in wilmington, up are 60's in millville, allentown and trenton and yeah, it still feels kind of muggy out there as a final front that we're waiting to push on through will not be through until later this afternoon. ahead of that there could be a couple more spotty showers and thunderstorms around. i'll show you future tracker six by noon popping some of those stuff. where these hit they could produce some temporarily gusty winds and some drenching downpours but not everybody is going to see these take cover from a storm if it arrives. later in the afternoon looks like less and less of a chance

of this, maybe some activity in the evening hours up north but generally speaking once that front comes through late this afternoon we'll start to see the storm chances die down. we'll also see the humidity drop later on today. anything that does pop today though will threaten you with lightning and potential downpours. not so much the strong winds. there is the possibility of strong winds in a couple can of these but i'm making that a moderate chance because the storms that could produce the gusty winds seem so spotty. not worried too much about large hail or tornadoes today. allentown's forecast, that's a spot where you could see a spotty storm pop up later on. 83 is the high otherwise. warm and humid in the morning and then getting a little bit less humid later on in the evening. clouds and sun at the shore a spotty storm there 80 degrees is the high there. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, today's high 86. then tomorrow 86 again, partly sunny and it will be nicer. once that front comes through and those storms die down

later today and this evening you'll feel the humidity drop and that patter tern will continue through the day on wednesday but it doesn't last long. we've got another front coming into our west on thursday. that's going to get us hotter and more humid with a high of 92. mainly dry on thursday. then friday 90, another hot and even more steamy day. and another chance of a spotty thunderstorm in the afternoon. for the weekend back into the 80's and some pop-up showers and thunderstorms here or there but not a washout. >> thanks, david. 5:10. next a second psychiatrist offers his opinion on the mental state of the colorado movie shooter at the time that of deadly rampage. >> a wheelchair bound woman is taking an airline to court because she says she was forced to crawl onto the plane. karen. >> you can see the roads are still kind of wet here on the blue route. that's your northbound traffic headed towards the schuylkill. problems up ahead on the schuylkill expressway in a different spot. details on that one coming up. >> and also a little bit later in the morning buzz a research librarian stumbles on what could be a piece of film history. >> ♪♪ >> welcome back. you're taking a live look across philadelphia international airport. the storms overnight have passed but just for now. we'll see what the day brings. it's 5:13 and 69 degrees. >> like opening up a new book. >> yes. >> every day. >> and every day we have much the same story. problems on the roads. how about problems on the schuylkill? that's what i'm here to help you avoid. let's get a live look right now. this is the schuylkill expressway westbound traffic at south street. the accident that we had right here causing the slowing has just cleared a seconds ago. what we can see though on the scene they still have left the flares so don't let that fool you. it's okay to head out.

the right lane and shoulder reopened at this point on the schuylkill westbound at south street where we had an early morning accident. had those storms come through overnight. we have a couple of problems with downed trees. here's the newest one coming into us right now. warwick bucks county meetinghouse road between bristol road and turkey trot road we have a downed tree causing a problem. turkeys are trotting over the downed tree. downed tree in lower merion between airedale and wakefield. a couple problems out there this morning. for the most part the roads wet in spots. still dealing with the storms from yesterday and new areas of rain coming in. this is 42. that's your northbound traffic at creek road. wet in some areas especially near here. i can pull in storm tracker six live double scan. i want tow you the latest. we have showers down in salem on route 49, on route 40 near elmer. glassboro right near 55 so if you're headed near rowan university certainly wet right there but you can see the cell that kind of blossomed up near medford lakes right along the white horse pike on the a.c. expressway crossing right now, so watch for that coming in.

we have areas of red, some good downpours with. that currently not seeing any lightning strikes but something we're watching on double scan. i want to bring in our commuter traffic report. someone talking about an object on the road, 422 eastbound near oaks and it is sizzle mrs. bringing us that. somebody is up early and ready to give us some traffic here on your commuter traffic report so don't forget to be a part that of with waze matt. >> okay and think of a creative name too. a woman who uses a wheelchair is suing american airlines saying she was forced to crawl onto a plane. purzell says a gate agent told her it was too late to set up a ramp for the chair. the airline has apologized for the incident but purzell says that is not enough. she says she wants to make sure it doesn't happen again. >> a second court appointed psychiatrist says the man behind the aurora colorado theater shooting was sane at the time that he acted. from jeffrey mentzer says

james holmes knew the difference between right and wrong and tonight 12 people were killed and dozens more were injured. he spent more than 25 hours evaluating holmes in 2013 and roughly 100 hours reviewing the overall case. james holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. a massive manhunt continues for two convict id killers who broke out of maximum security prison in new york. david sweat and richard matt used power tools to make that escape over the weekend. abc has learned that investigators have interviewed a prison employee named joyce mitchell about that break. it's still unclear how sweat and matt managed to get their hands on those tools in the first place. authorities are now offering a $100,000 reward for information that leads to the capture of the pair. >> the phillies take on the reds tonight in cincinnati. aaron harang will take the mound. the reds took game one last night. cole hamels had his first loss against cincinnati in 15 career starts.

final score six to four. tampa bay lightning have the lead after taking game three of the stanley cup finals. they beat the blackhawks three to two in chicago last night. they have a two to one series advantage now. game four is tomorrow night in chicago. game three of the nba final center city tonight. cavaliers and warriors tied at a game a piece. watch the action from cleveland at 9 p.m. on 6abc. >> 5:17 now. the u.s.d.a. is acting swifting to try to ease the egg shortage. >> new research finds a drug free approach to help you fall asleep faster. david. >> take a look at the kids as we have them dressed in t-shirts obviously warm again this morning, kind of humid. there is a chance of a spotty storm around but it's spotty enough that i'm going easy on the rain gear. nonetheless there is that opportunity to get an isolated thunderstorm. we'll talk more about that when we check the day planner forecast and severe weather across the country for those of you traveling. >> ♪♪

>> "action news" viewer had an unexpected visitor from the wild kingdom yesterday morning. a black bear believed to be 500 pounds showed up in mary jane rossi's backyard in upper black eddie. she said the bear didn't seem to be afraid of people. it was the first time she's seen a bear in the neighborhood and she's lived there for 30 years. >> and she just sat there filming it right. >> good for her. >> you would have seen my film running in the other way. let's take a look outside right now and check the ben franklin bridge. looking good this morning on the ben. no construction set up at this point eastbound so heading in, heading out. you can see it's a little wet in this area and certainly that's the way it is with storms that have moved through. and so far mass transit is on time, dave murphy and looking pretty good. >> all right, karen rogers. and we have some showers in south jersey, some of these very light in cape may county. some others fairly light for the most part in through glassboro elmer down towards salem. as we roll through the day there is the chance of a

spotty gusty thunderstorm around. most of you are going to be dry today, though. 73 by 9 o'clock yes unby noon and your high today 86 degrees at 3 o'clock with again those thunderstorms in through the afternoon hours. 86 is that high. if you're traveling across the country the pacific northwest and the upper midwest look fine. rain down in the southwest along the gulf coast ann little bit up and down the east coast. chance of severe weather out through chicago and actually also in our area there is a slight chance of a gusty thunderstorm popping up that could produce gusty winds maybe some large hail, a tornado threat minimal across the country today. at the airport this morning we have all green aircraft no major delays just yet none rain in our most commonly traveled destinations, tam. >> thank you, david. going on to health check sleeping pills may not be the best solution if you have trouble dozing off. maybe your best bet is to learn to talk it out. australian researchers studied the effects of cognitive behavioral therapy. it uses talk therapy to challenge negative thinking which is often at the root of anxiety.

love star wars like we do. a film historian at the university of new brunswick in canada they were trying to digitize the collection. going through it he found what he thought was an original star wars script. it had labels and different things on it. it was done in 1973 about three or four years before the movie came out. they took it to lucas film and they said they don't think it's an original but a copy of the kind of thing that would have been sold early on at conventions but it does give you an insight into how things change. this one says saga one we now know that movie as episode four, luke is not luke skywalker he's luke sky killer. in an early scene when han originally han drew first but test audiences didn't like it. they wanted it to be self-defense rather than hot off the trigger. >> we would have seen hasn't han solo as a bad guy.
