break in upstate new york, now a prison employee provided contra ban before they cut their way out. and a tragedy in northeast philadelphia, a woman is dead and her mother is in critical condition after flames ripped through their home. but the big story is the excessive heat conditions outside, temperatures heading into the mid-90s and some areas could see record breaking temperatures as the mercury climbs and that causes philadelphia public schools to dismiss early today and in new jersey, haddonfield public schools are dismissing early at 12:30. first lets head out live to sky 6 hd over penn's landing, you can see the heat and humidity, melissa magee is outside of our studios with more on what to expect today. >> you can see the haze in the sky and really feel the difference today in comparison

to yesterday that is why in fact the heat advisory is posted. for philadelphia the i-90 corridor and 25 miles to the east and 25 miles to the west. it just went into effect at noon and stays up until 8:00 this evening, it's the heat and the humidity, we'll feel like the upper 90s to near 100 currently outside it's 90 degrees with the heat index of 97 in the city and 87 in trenton and 89 and reading and 90 in dover but the relief is on the coast 73 in beach haven and 74 in sea isle city. the level of moisture in the atmosphere any time you have dew points 75 or higher it's down right oppressive outside and this is sticking with us throughout the aafternoon, so looking ahead. 3:00 in the afternoon 95 if we hit that that will be tying the

out on the home and the scorch marks on the bricks from the early morning fire. >> this morning i saw the fire trucks, laurie hennerson saw the family that lives here and this morning they were inside of the somer ton home on avon street when a fire broke out. their daughter did not survive, she is the city's seventh fire fatality this year. >> it's shocking i saw her the other day walking her dog. >> arriving firefighters found the mother on the first floor by the door and they performed cpr and she was rushed to the hospital, when the fire was extinguished they searched the home and found a middle age daughter in the upstairs bathroom, the father was in the basement and he was able to escape when the neighbor knocked down the basement door. they believe the family may have

tried to stop the fire themselves. >> the fire is believed to have started on the first floor. the fire department was there 30 years ago to service a smoke alarm. >> even though we serviced this property in 2001, that is more than ten years ago we need them to be updated. >> the american red cross and fire department walked the neighborhood at 3:00 p.m., distributing safety information and smoke alarms. the cause of this fire remains under investigation, katherine scott, channel 6 "action news.." >> an early morning house fire sent one person to the hospital, this blaze broke out at 5:45 this morning on the 3500 block. they found smoke pouring from a second floor bathroom. crews were able to put the flames out in the matter of minutes and still no word on what sparked the flames. in delaware county dozens of people were forced out of their

homes here, after fire tore through an apartment complex. this on north landsdowne avenue in landsdowne, residents said the flames spread quickly, within two minutes there were flames on the bottom coming out of the basement and five minutes later they were on the first floor, fire officials tell "action news," the flames were senterred in a store able part of the basement and the cause is under investigation and two people were hurt but both are expected to be okay. the manhunt for two convicted killers that escaped from an upstate prison, intensified after blood hounds picked up a strong scent and now they say a female employee brought in contraband for those prisoners. >> reporter: investigators now say that the search through the dense woods started when the bloodhounds picked up the scent

of two convicts less than a mile from the prison. now police are going through the surveillance video to see if the two convicted killers rummaged through the trash for food. they are trying to figure out if prison employee joyce mitchell was suppose to pick them up in a get away car and never showed up. >> the presumption would be they popped their head over the manhole cover in sight of the prison and no joyce and no car at that point, they are sort of lost. >> the attorney general says mitchell was investigated for a relationship with one of the prisoners says she brought contraband to the prison. >> she did not provide power tools to either sweat or matt. >> investigators are looking into who did give them the

c. >> a man is in critical condition after being shot three times in the huntington park section, medics were on their way to the hospital when they found the victim and drove him to the emergency room, someone shot the unidentified 25-year-old on the west block of ontario street. no arrests have been made. police in the lehigh valley says that someone may be poisoning stray cats, more than a dozen cats are found dead and neighbors think that an eye freeze were left out to poison

the animals, someone may be trying to curb the pet population by taking matters into their own hands. someone caught poisoning domestic indicating animals could face fines and jail time. and 20-year-old martese johnson was charged with to misdemeanors which the prosecutors will ask to be dismissed. agents arrested him outside of a bar in march video of the violence encounter went viral and johnson says he was targeted because of his race. authorities in massachusetts say that a man that was distraught over a failing relationship released chemical gases in his apartment killing himself and seven other people in the hospital they went to his apartment after the 31-year-old man posted on facebook that concerned his
