storm tracker six live double scan showing us we're basically dry in our region but you can see the cluster of thunderstorms that are out to the west and this is going to impact us later today. predominantly today we'll be rain free but the trouble is when you get one of these thunderstorms in a few spots today, they're going to produce torrential downpours flash flooding and gusty winds that could be damaging. so, it's serious today with the weather even though not everybody is going to site because they're going to be spot too. let's take a closer look at storm tracker six live double scan. just a couple can of sprinkles up to the northwest not a big deal but we could see an early morning shower or thunderstorm kind of sneaking in ahead of the later storms. you could see that in motion right here on satellite six and action radar. 75 degrees the dewpoint's in the 70's in most places and it's horribly humid once again today. 71 in allentown, 74 in millville. a hot humid high of 91 degrees. we're watching for a strong gusty storm more on that coming up in just a few minutes. matt. >> you know karen we should all be wearing in color bright orange this morning which by

the way looks very nice because it's a little foggy out there. little bit tough to see in some spots like here in center city. jury just going have to take my word for it, this is the vine street expressway close to the schuylkill expressway and again, trust me, the eastbound side still closed coming off the schuylkill for the overnight construction. westbound side has reopened. so eastbound should be opened shortly but not opened quite yet. looks like maybe they're just in the process of letting some traffic by. could you make out those headlights through the fog this morning? overnight work zones along 95 have cleared out. better news there. of course 52nd street still closed in west philadelphia because of the water main break from this weekend. and here's the scene in bucks county, morrisvilleville a little bit of fog you can see in the overhead light. this is route one close to pennsylvania avenue. light traffic. it's moving fine. but let's cross the river and you want to stick with route one instead of 206 this morning if you're traveling through princeton. the northbound lanes are blocked near mountain avenue because of a water main break and if you're headed northbound on the new jersey turnpike in the same neck of

the woods, watch out, there's a crash in the truck lanes northbound near 8a for jamesburg taking out the two right lanes. matt. >> thank you, matt. another steamy and stormy day awaits. pennsylvania's big of the school district already decided to throw in the towel when it comes to classes this afternoon. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live at rocks borough high school with that story. >> reporter: matt another hot one today. students here at roxborough high school are among those heading home early. if today happens to be your graduation day you're going to want to check to see if this early dismissal affects your ceremony. it's an early dismissal for all school district of philadelphia schools. administrators made the decision to send students home at noon today based on excessive heat. there are a number of graduation ceremonies scheduled. those schools have the option to remain opened. check with the school directly. another day of soaring temperatures follows some wild weather in some parts of our area. last night with 4-inches of

rain that fell in some parts of bethlehem came the flash flooding. cars were under water, streets impassable. the hope house assisted living facility was evacuated. a giant truck was brought in to navigate the high water. easton avenue and willow park road turned rivers surrounding the keystone pub. ly. >> this is the first time i've seen it happen that fast, within 15 minutes pretty quickly it flooded pretty quickly. >> reporter: and we could see more storms later on today. take heart though, tomorrow we should finally get some relief from this hot weather. we're live in roxborough, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> thanks katherine. you can get the latest from accuweather from your smartphone or tablet with our free 6abc storm tracker app. it will alert you when watches or warnings are issued plus you can access our live double scan radar. >> new this morning swat teams arrested a suspected gunman. they say he tried to escape a barricade situation in roxborough overnight. the suspect reportedly ran into his house on the 400

block of monastery street after firing a shot at two people out on the street. one of them had a permit to carry a handgun and they returned fire. no one was hit. police recovered the suspect's rifle during a sweep of his home. the gunman's wife, their two children and family friends were all inside at the time of the brief barricade. they're now being questioned by detectives and it's still unclear what sparked the initial shooting. and fire investigators are still on the case of a multi alarm fire that erupted in west chester chester county. "action news" reporter erin o'hearn is live at the big board. she's got the overnight details. good morning erin. >> reporter: good morning, tam. chopper six gives you the best perspective on how intense this fire was. flames erupted around 9 o'clock in west chester which is mostly officers but the red cross has told us that there are four apartments and it is assisting one person. now, initially fire officials responded with two alarms but the blaze spread quickly and then that was up to three

alarms. now, let's take a look at some ground video. as you can see, there were multiple crews on the ground at the corner of market street and north church street. this is a stubborn fire and it affected multiple buildings. the scene was a block away from the chester county courthouse. it took almost three hours to get it under control. the word from officials was that at 11:50 firefighters finally got a handle on the blaze. fortunately there were no injuries. again, that is largely attributed to the fact that this building is mostly offices and the fire started around 9:00 so there were -- they were likely vacant at the time. now, fire companies continue to put out hot spots this morning as investigators tried to determine the cause of the blaze. if you were in the area this morning, please note that all traffic has been restricted because of the large amount of emergency vehicles and debris on the scene. matt back to you. >> okay, thank you erin. authorities are trying to figure out if the man whose naked and partially decomposed body was found in his philadelphia home had been murdered or not.

the 51-year-old's body was in the living room floor of the home on the 1500 block of south hollywood street. a neighbor discovered the remains last night with the home in disarray. officials believe the man had been dead for several days but he had no visible signs of trauma. they're awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause and manner of death. a two-year-old little girl disappeared from her western pennsylvania homeownerly to be found dead an hour later. police in the community of swiss veil are now treating her death as a homicide but there was no obvious sign as to how the toddler died. her body was found in a wooded area of the pittsburgh suburb a few miles from the girl's home. police say they suspect the child was dump thread because it would have been too far for her to walk. >> now to an "action news" exclusive. philadelphia police say they have finally foiled a motorcycle theft operation. police caught the alleged thieves in the act yesterday morning. they say a home on the 4200 block of mill street in

holmesburg nd had been found in a chop shop. two men were arrested and charged. police were called when someone sought men on cottman avenue. witnesses said the pair were trying to steel david bok's gleaming yellow chopper. >> they couldn't get it started. the clutch wouldn't pull in all the way. >> they had a dark colored suburban that had been used in previous thefts throughout the city. >> police say surveillance video from an attempted theft earlier this month shows harris and jacobs in that suburban. investigators say they ask he can't the make more arrests. >> from our new jersey news room what comes down must go back up. that is what happened to the landmark welcome sign on the atlantic city expressway just after the last toll. dozens of workers dismantled the sign after it was discovered it did not have the proper permits. then the state transportation commission order it back up calling the sign iconic.

it cost nearly $62,000 and that does not include overtime. some lawmakers in pennsylvania are looking to delay graduation exam requirements. state education standards require the class of 2017 to pass three keystone exams to graduate high school. the state senate unanimously approved the bill yesterday to delay the exams as a graduation requirement until 2019. lawmakers say they need more time to work out options for students who do not pass the test. >> philadelphia's prestigious marian anderson award presentation will have a jazzy feel this year. mayor michael nutter announced this year's recipient will be grammy award winner wynton marsalis. he'll receive the honor at the kimmel center on november 10. the award recognizes artists whose work has improved the world? bond their power to entertain he has been active in expanding the public's exposure and interaction with jazz and music education for children. >> once again fine choice. >> a great choice.

>> texas is getting ready for tropical storm bill which is expected to make landfall this morning. school districts in galveston and in some houston suburbs have canceled classes and the eastern half of texas is under flood watches with up to 10-inches of rain expected in some areas. the storm has maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour. >> oh, my poor parents. >> it's a mess out there. i'm going to show you that in a tropical satellite imnew jersey a second but flooding in places that don't need it right. storm tracker six live double scan around the region we have nothing more than a spotty sprinkle here or there. drove through a couple tropical storm near the city. reading maybe a quick shower.

much of the day will be dry but strong storms later on. let's see what it looks like. right now it's hard to see with fog in the wake of some of the storms that moved through yesterday and ahead of the next front that's coming we do have a lot of moisture in the atmosphere making it hard to see. low clouds and fog reducing visibility and you see it in that shot right there. the temperature is 75 degrees. the dewpoint way up there 71. it feels horribly humid once again today. winds out of the east. barometric pressure holding steady. satellite6 and action radar slowing we have lots of clouds, maybe we'll see a sprinkle pop up here or there early but the big deal is the front that's coming through later and it's not as if everybody is going to see the thunderstorms that come through but the trouble is any one could produce torrential downpours. this is a look at 8 o'clock this morning on future tracker six showing maybe a sprinkle in one or two spots, into the big deal. then we look at 1 o'clock in the afternoon and we start to see these storms. no look at the areas of purple, some driving rain could come down with any one

of these storms at 4 o'clock for evening drive time. it's kind of scattered. not everybody gets it but some strong storms coming through at 6 o'clock right during the evening drive crossing i-95, that would be a mess. beyond that, though, this front is going clear us out and i'm giving you a one day break and it's a good break but it's not today. today the trouble with the storms is you're once again at a risk for severe weather and although it's a low concern for gusty winds that seems to be our best issue here is gusts up to 60 miles an hour so i think with any one of these storms you have the torrential downpours but you could have damaging straight line winds so that's an issue for us today its a summer sizzler for sure with high pressure down to the south this front that's going to try to cross us is going to feel like it's 95 to 100 degrees with a high today of 91. tropical storm bill, here is the tropical satellite image and, see how it got more organized yesterday before forming into our second named tropical storm and bringing flooding rains to parts of texas and we'll have to watch to see if some of this moisture might impact us on

malcolm melonis says it began when he pulled into a gas station. as he began to fill up a thief jumped into the car and took off. the man said he quickly took action and jumped onto the car. he said he held on for nearly a quarter of a mile. eventually his son was able to jump out of the moving car. he said in all that of he broke his arm but his son was not seriously hurt. and, say two customers got fresh in a subway restaurant in maryland. this is new cell phone video of the brawl. police arrested the man who could be seen slamming another man through a glass case. the first man then fled the scene. police are trying to track him down. and it's unclear what started this fight. >> time now for your first look at business. here is the big board charitable donations by americans have is your passed prerecession levels, first time it's happened in seven years. the u.s. foundation which tracks donations didn't expect that to happen for a few more years. americans gave an estimated

fog. what we're not watching anymore is the construction that was blocking the ramp from the schuylkill, the vine street expressway eastbound. everything reopened in both directions but of course the crews will return tonight at 11 o'clock and close down the vine once again. on the big picture construction crews have cleared from 95 as well but do watch out for some paving work going on in the city. several different spots like around washington square and rittenhouse square. overnight restrictions each night this week and we still have overnight work on the pennsylvania turnpike westbound near willow grove. they're taking out the right lane. you really have to watch out for those crews especially in the foggy conditions. it's a crash on the new jersey turnpike northbound near exit 8a for jamesburg that's blocking the two right truck lanes and in princeton there's a water main break this morning northbound near mountain avenue blocking the lanes of 206. stick with harrison street to get around that. you see the fog here at our good buddy ben the ben franklin bridge. speed restrictions are up on some bridges here at the ben so far aside from the fog we're looking okay. matt.

>> thanks, matt. the texas rangers are investigating that incident at a pool party where a white police officer is seen pushing a black teenaged girl to the ground. it happened in mckinney on june 5th sparking outrage and leading to the officer eric casebolt to resign. the district attorney requested the rangers to conduct the outside investigation hoping it will add a layer of transparency. >> some community members in stabbed craig want punitive action against a sheriff's deputy. the deputy tased a teenaged boy but police are saying it was warranted. a rally was held last night claiming the deputy used excessive force. cell phone video captured part of the 70. the sheriff says says he recognized a young many man as a runaway 13-year-old. the deputy says when he tried to get the boy to go home that scuffle ensued. police say the boy severely bit the officer so he tased him. he says that chain of events justified the actions. >> all new in the next half hour of "action news" the
