yet. >> let's get ready for the steamy and stormy business with karen filling in for david and matt pelman. >> good morning. storm tracker six showing not a whole lot happening in our region but look at the cluster of showers and thunderstorms out to our west. that's all associated with a frontal boundary that's going to slip through the area. it will change our weather for the better tomorrow. much of the day is going to be dry. the trouble is if you get one of these storms later on this afternoon it's going to be really gusty. storm tracker six live double scan showing trying to get a little bit of a shower, maybe even the beginning of a thunderstorm near reading. the rest of us maybe see a drizzle drop or two. the morning dry for the most part other than a stray shower or thunderstorm popping up. 75 degrees already. feeling humid. we've got a hot and humid day at a and we have a lot of moisture in the atmosphere and that's reducing visibility with fog .3 of a mile now in allentown. here are the latest numbers. half a mile visibility in trenton along the coastline ac .3 visibility, six at philadelphia international airport, so call ahead if

you're crying out with the low clouds causing prob before. 91 for your high. hot and humid although much of the day is dry. later this afternoon we get a strong gusty thunderstorm in some spots, matt and that could just produce torrential downpours. >> oh, boy, sounds like fun. i'll tell you karen this morning we're going to keep rubbing our eyes but i don't think things will get clearer. it's foggy conditions out there this morning impeding visibilities and you can see that as we look live in the great northeast at i-95 or we attempt to look through the fog here by cottman avenue. overnight construction on 95 has cleared out so at least there are no work zones aside from the ongoing ones to contend with and everything is reopened on the vine street expressway. overnight work there has cleared as well. no issues on the 76, the schuylkill either. things look fine there. but little bit foggy here in bensalem. this is route one the super highway right at the pennsylvania turnpike. there is some work farther west on the turnpike near willow grove and on the new jersey turnpike a truck flipped over northbound overnight near exit 8a for jamesburg so two of the truck lanes, the two right lanes

are still closed there. in princeton watch out for a water main break this morning blocking the northbound lanes of 206 near mountain avenue. harrison street gets you around that and in camden county a couple work zones along 130 northbound and 295 southbound go for the next hour. tam. >> okay, thank you matt. now as karen mentioned the mercury is expected to rise higher than yesterday and it's already having an philadelphia schools. katherine scott is live at roxborough. a lot of parents have to get a plan for afternoon today katherine. >> reporter: that's right, tam. another steamy day ahead and philadelphia's schools including here at roxborough high school are getting out early today. people have been dealing with the heat. some have also seen some pretty fierce storms and flooding and we could see more storms later on at a. >> this is the first time i've seen it happen that fast. >> reporter: last night flash flooding after 4-inches of rain fell in some parts of

bethlehem. easton avenue at willow park road was under water surrounding the keystone pub. >> within 15 minutes it -- pretty quickly it got flooded pretty quickly. >> reporter: the hope house assisted living facility was evacuated. a 59 truck was brought in. cars were submerged. streets impassable. the wild weather capped another day of high heat and humidity across our area and we're in for another hot one. all school district of philadelphia schools are closing at noon today due to excessive heat. there are a number of graduations scheduled. those schools have the option to remain opened for their ceremonies. so, if today is your graduation day you're going to want to check with your individual schools to see if your ceremony has been affected. we're live in roxborough, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> okay, katherine thank you. and a sinkhole was discovered underneath a transmission tower in bethlehem township after last night's flash flooding there. ppl says despite the hole, underneath part of the tower

there on claremont street it's not in any danger of falling it is not an imminent issue. >> ♪♪ >> new this morning, a drive by shooting left a man critically injured in the overbrook section of philadelphia overnight. the 20-year-old was shot in the torso at 66th street and lansdowne avenue at 12:30 a.m. police are trying to put together a description of the vehicle seen fleeing the scene. three people are expected to be arraigned this morning in connection with a violent home invasion in delaware county. the victims are an asian family who own a bar in marple township police believe they were targeted because of that. investigators say four men forced their way into the broomall home yesterday afternoon, took money and jewelry from a safe and tied up the victims. police later found the getaway car and four people ran away from it. officers nabbed jermaine and sterling wallace of yeadon and a 17-year-old. police are still looking for the fourth man. and philadelphia police and the fbi are on the hunt for this suspected bank

robber. they say he held up a wells fargo bank branch at broad street and glenwood avenue in north philadelphia at noon yesterday and was armed with a gun. a reward may be available for tipsters to provide information leading to his capture. >> this morning restoration and repair crews will return to the west philadelphia neighborhood flooded after that massive water main break. crews removed the 36-inch transmission pipe that was nearly split in half. now on sunday morning 10 million gallons of water filled the 500 block of north 52nd street flooding cars and basements. the water department says the pipe was put into service in 1885 but it was just inspected two weeks ago. crozer chester nurses have healed longstanding differences with the hospital and agreed to a new four year contract. their labor dispute had involved a five day strike last september but now the 550rn's have voted to ratify a new deal. this agreement includes terms for the pension plan, healthcare benefits, pay scale, years of service.

overtime bonus and how many nurses the hospital is required to staff. >> karen rogers joins us. looks like it's going to be dry for most of the morning commute. >> yeah, i think we're going get a spotty shower, like one or two places, not a big deal. and even later on today not a lot of rain but the trouble is those who get it are getting it g let's take a look at storm tracker six live double scan around the region we're looking pretty good. we're basically dry. neared aring and allentown i have been watching a little bit of a shower and some of you may see a little bit of drizzle here or there. it's not a big deal this morning though. let's go outside and see what it looks like right now and we have been watching issues with fog and as you look out on this sky six shot of the platt bridge you can kind of see that in the distance there so be careful traveling with reduced visibility. it's 75 degrees right now in philadelphia but look at the dewpoint. 71. it just feels really uncomfortable out there with high humidity. the winds out of the east not getting much of a break at 5 miles per hour. it's pretty light. barometric pressure is holding steady. satellite6 and action radar

showing lots of clouds. we can kind of see one or two showers trying to pop. there was it's not going to be a whole lot. what you're watching is out to the west. that's where we have a frontal boundary, a cold front that's going to slip through the area and give us chance for some strong storms. this is a look at 8 o'clock in the morning with future tracker six showing maybe a shower maybe a thunderstorm in one or two places but most of the morning is dry and then in the afternoon at 1:30 we start to watch these storms pop up and the areas of purple and red that indicates really driving rain with these storms 'cause it's so humid out there. at 4:30 not everybody is seeing it but the can i kind of pepper with showers and thunderstorms and right near evening drive time you could be getting that in one or two places. this is a look at 6:30. the storms will be scattered. look what happens beyond. that it clears out. clouds are gone, the humidity is going to do. it only lasts a day but that happens on wednesday. today we have a severe probability, a low risk for gusty winds up to 60 miles an hour with straight line winds and that's enough to cause some real damage so we're watching these storms pretty closely.

with high pressure in control it's going to feel like it's between 95 and 100. the tropical satellite showing tropical storm bill producing a lot of rain in the gulf of mexico heading towards texas and producing some flooding then. could some of those remnants work its way here on the weekend? we'll have to watch and see. humid today with a gusty thunderstorm, 91 degrees for your high. tomorrow it's less humid it's dry, kind of a nice days 84 degrees. some increasing clouds, though. thursday some showers and thunderstorms kind of book end early in the morning and then later in the afternoon. friday partly sunny skies and dry and 87 degrees. saturday mostly cloudy skies 85 degrees for your high temperature on saturday with a few scattered showers or thunderstorms. not a washout but kind of scattered here or there. sunday summer begins and it's father's day 90 degrees for your high. going to feel hot with a couple of scattered showers or thunderstorms. monday hot with a thunderstorm around 91 degrees so we're turning up the heat and it's basically staying pretty high. >> thanks karen.

trying to peer at i-95. it's foggy right now. it's 74 degrees getting up to 91. heat, humidity and possible storms later. >> let's head on over to matt pelman see where things stand with your commute and good morning. >> so, we are on this fog finding mission this morning. we will find the fog and we are finding plenty of it especially through the city as you work your way up into the northeast and into bucks county. north and east of the city is where i'm seeing the most of it in the traffic cameras north and west, south and west not quite as much. but here we are in bucks county along i-95 close to business route one. there's the southbound traffic, a couple cars going down toward woodhaven road moving along okay despite the foggy conditions but do you have to take it a little bit easy when visibilities aren't so great. watch out for those construction crews. they began a new project yesterday here in cheltenham montgomery county. it's going mid days 9:00 until 3:00 through mid august that they're closing just a short chunk of church road between

serpentine lane and chelten hills drive. maybe stick down on cheltenham avenue to get around the work closure. also have a closure because of a water main break this morning in princeton. northbound lanes of 206 are blocked near mountain avenue. harrison street gets you around that. over on the turnpike northbound they're investigating an overturned tractor-trailer from the overnight at exit 8a for jamesburg. a couple of truck lanes are blocked there and if you're traveling between maple shade and cherry hill work continuing for the next 45 minutes along 38 between lenola road and long wood avenue. let's grab the ipad to the commuter report early on this tuesday morning and our gun friend william myers meow, can we see the ipad on the commuter report -- yeah, well, mr. kitty man he's talking about a hazard along 55 northbound near pitman so watch out for that. week check it again tam in just a few minutes. >> thank you matt. 12 passengers who got sick on flight from fiji to la have been examined and released. yesterday the fiji airways crew reported that passengers were sick with stomach problems. the cdc says the illness is

consistent with norovirus. all passengers were cleared. however one 19-year-old man chose to go to the hospital. the 12 american passengers were not traveling together. however, they had all stayed at the same hotelly in fiji. excuse me. rachel dolezal has stepped down as the president of the naacp chapter in washington state. but the firestorm around her is not letting up. she told the world she was black but last week her parents came forward to say she's white. erin o'hearn is live at the big board. she's got more. good morning. good morning. this story continues to develop tam and this is 37-year-old rachel dolezal who has seemed to carefully construct a life as a black civil rights activist in the last decade. that world is falling apart following a shocking revelation by her parents that dolezal is actually a white woman who has posed for years as african-american. her parents produced this picture of her as a young girl. you can see with fair skin and

straight blond hair. her mother saying she began disguising herself as black after her parents adopted four black children years ago. and dolezal has resigned as president of the local branch of the naacp lost her position as a part time african studies instructor at a local university as well as her job as a freelance newspaper columnist and is a subject of a probe by the ethics commission. she's also filed numerous racial harassment complaints since this recent uproar, though, police say they are suspending investigations into those claims. dolezal initially dismissed the controversy saying from a local dispute that divided the family but came under increasing pressure from the naacp members to resign. >> a lot people that i've talked to especially in the african-american community that feel very hurt by the lies and the deception and i think they're still waiting

for answers that they haven't gotten yet. >> that's the first step was stepping aside. and it's up to her if she chooses to give an apology to the people. they would like it. they would appreciate it. and but it's not required. because we're going to make a conscious choice to forgive her regardless of her actions because that's the right thing to do. >> mixed reactions there. dolezal hasn't responded directly to questions about her race but has said in a statement i will never stop fighting for human rights and will do everything in my power to help and assist. there's new information that dolezal actually sued howard university where she attended for grad school for discriminating against her claiming she was passed over for positions in favor of african-american students. so new information continuing to come out of this story matt. >> thanks for the upday. game six of the nba finals is tonight. the golden state warriors can clinch the series with a win. they tip off at 9 p.m. in cleveland. watch it here on 6abc. the chicago blackhawks

celebrating their third stanley up in six seasons. they beat the tampa bay lightning two to nothing in became six last night. former flier kimmo timonen won his first stanley cup with the hawks and now the 40-year-old defenseman plans to retire. chicago won can you please in that 2013 and in 2010 against the philadelphia flyers. will the phillies ever win a road game again? or score. the orioles beat the phillies four to nothing in baltimore last night. the home plate umpire ejected rookie michael frankel for ordering a third strike call. the phillies haven't scored a run in 21 innings. they've lost seven straight games and 11 straight road games. >> 5:18. hopeful new info out on medical marijuana laws and teens. >> a wildfire in alaska mushrooms in z it has already burned more than two dozen homes and forced thousands of residents to evacuate. karen. >> 91 degrees, the normal high 83. that would feel good, right?

>> north and east of the city. and we're seeing the ongoing work along 202 northbound at 611 much it's got these two right lanes blocked scheduled for about the next week or so. if you're riding patco and you use the ferry avenue station they found some problems requiring some pse&g work so the entrance going to remain opened but the exit is closed starting today. you can get in but you can't get out. they expect it to cause some problems but they'll have detour signs set up for you to exit. karen. >> it's going to be hot going to be humid today with a couple of gusty thunderstorms later on. by 9:00 a.m., 81 degrees. at any point in the morning we may see a stray shower, a little bit of drizzle or a quick thunderstorm in one or two spots but most of us stay

dry all morning. by noon, 87. early in the afternoon hours any time after lunchtime you start to see a couple of scattered showers or thunderstorms that are gusty. by 3:00 p.m., 91 with a gusty thunderstorm activity by 6:00 p.m. 84 degrees with a thunderstorm still in place and not everybody is going to see these storms. they're not going to be really widespread but the trouble is we really could get some torrential downpours and even some straight line winds that could cause damage so watch for that this afternoon tam. >> thank you karen. we have seen the push to legalize marijuana for medical use across the states but it doesn't seem to be increasing teen use of the drug. a survey took a look at eighth, tenth and 12th graders. researchers look at responses from a million students in 48 states from 1991 to 2014. they didn't see an additional spike after the laws were passed. >> if you bought stocks in the beginning of the year you would likely have lost money

the fire began raging on sunday and has burned up to 25 homes and up to 20 other structures. crews are battling a second wildfire which popped up about 150 miles south of the first one yesterday. >> 20 miles north of pittsburgh you'll find yourself in the borough of mars. they're having a big party. they say for every new year that we have it takes mars twice as long so they only have a new year every two years and they're saying it's happening right now and nasa is showing up they're going to have a big party. they want people to think about mars because they're trying to actually get humans to mars by the 2030's. i'm going to stay here. if anybody else would like to go let me know, send me a postcard but if you're looking for something interesting to do they have the sculpture of a flying saucer, they'll have other activities there. they'll be having the martian new year in mars pa this weekend. >> they should show total recall, too. we go to mars. 5:27 and we'll have an update on a multi alarm fire
