reading. we look out to the west and start to see some of the showers build n we can pull out a wider view with storm tracker six live 3-d and you see the threat trouble out to the west associate were there you a cold front. heavy downpours not everybody is going to get them but those that do could see torrential downpours and damaging winds. that's why we're watching it so closely right now. let's look at the temperatures. that's another part of the story. it's hot, it's sticky out there. right now 75 degrees already in philadelphia. and look at the fog. that's a real problem this morning especially east of the city. .3 of a mile in allentown but as you travel right along the coastline half a mile in trenton, 1.3 in beach haven and .3 of a mile visibility in atlantic city so getting even worse there along the coastline. and looking at the temperatures for today a high of 91. you saw maybe there's a shower or sprinkle even a brief thunderstorm in one or two places. most of us stay dry all morning. by noon 87. by 3:00 p.m., 91 degrees. some of these strong thunderstorms coming through

and by 6:00 p.m. 90. it will actually be 90 degrees with a thunderstorm in one or two places. matt. >> all right, karen, cameras reflecting what you're saying this morning with the fog north and east of the city. here in northeast philadelphia yeah, we are seeing some of it along woodhaven road route 63 right over top the roosevelt boulevard, route one. traffic is moving just fine but do you have to trop the speeds a little bit because visibilities are down. now this is the scene in delco and south and west. things are looking a little bit clearer in the skies and clear on the roadways as well. this camera is up pretty high so if it was foggy we would be all fogged in and wouldn't be able to see anything but you can see the roadway pretty well here in delco. overnight construction on 95 and on the vine street expressway has cleared. no delays yet. schuylkill also is looking good. overnight work on the pennsylvania turnpike westbound by willow grove is out of the way so all lanes reopened there. but on the new jersey turnpike if you're head north toward north jersey watch out they're investigating an overturned truck from the overnight hours near 8a jamesburg. two right truck lanes are blocked there and in princeton

there's a water main break blocking the northbound lanes of 206 this morning near mountain avenue. harrison street gets you around that. >> thank you matt. philadelphia public schools have decided to throw in the towel before the heat reaches extremes this afternoon. "action news" reporter katherine scott live at roxborough high school to continue our weather coverage. katherine. >> reporter: matt, it's going to be another hot humid day today and students here at roxborough high school are going to be among those heading home early. if today happens to be your graduation day you'll want to check with your school to see if this early dismissal affects you. an early dismissal for all philadelphia school district schools. administrators made the decision to send students home at noon today based on excessive heat. there are a number of graduation ceremonies scheduled. those schools have the option to remain opened. just check with the school directly. another day of soaring temperatures follows some wild weather in some parts of our area. last night with the 4-inches of rain that fell in some

parts of bethlehem came the flash flooding. cars were under water streets impassable. the hope house assisted living facility was evacuated. a giant truck was brought in to navigate the high water. easton avenue and willow park road turned to rivers surrounding the keystone pub. >> this is the first time i've seen it happen that fast. within 15 minutes the got pretty quickly -- it flooded pretty quickly. >> reporter: and we could see some more storms later on today. tomorrow though, look forward to a little relief from this heat. live in roxborough, katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> thanks katherine. elsewhere tropical storm bill is taking aim at the gulf coast of texas. parts of the state are still recovering from record floods. the storm is expected to make landfall sometime this morning. a voluntary evacuation is already under way in the pens l lines wrapped around a houston supermarket as people stocked up on supplies.

school districts from houston down galveston have canceled classes. the national weather service predicts parts of north texas could get up to 9-inches of rain over the next five days. >> and new this morning, swat teams arrested a suspected gunman. police say he tried to escape a barricade situation in roxborough overnight. the suspect reportedly ran into his house on the 400 block of monastery street after firing a shot at two people on the street. one of those two people had a permit to carry a handgun and returned fire but amazingly in all of that no one was hit. police recovered the suspect's rifle during a sweep of his home. the gunman's wife, their two children and family friends were all inside that home at the time of the brief barricade. they're now all being questioned by detectives. it's still unclear what sparked the initial shooting. and tenants will be out in the morning heat surveying the damage from a three alarm fire in west chester overnight. so, let's go on over to erin o'hearn she's live at the big board with more on the story. good morning. >> reporter: tam, this is a

big one. chopper six probably gives you the best perspective on how intense this fire was last night. flames erupted around 9 o'clock to this building in west chester which is mostly offices but the red cross has told us there are four apartments inside and the red cross is assisting one person. now, initially fire officials responded with two alarms but the blaze spread quickly and that was up to three alarms. let's take a look at some ground video. as you can see, there were multiple crews on the ground at the corner of market street and north church street. this was a stubborn one. it affected multiple buildings. the scene was a block away from the chester county courthouse and the fire took almost three hours to get under control. the word from officials was that at 11:50 firefighters finally got a handle on this. fortunately there were no injuries but again, that is largely attributed to the fact that this building is mostly offices and the fire started around 9 p.m. so, those offices were likely vacant at the time. fire companies continued to

put out hot spots this morning as investigators tried to determine what caused the blaze. of course, if you are in the area this morning please note all traffic has been restricted because of the large amount of emergency vehicles and debris on the scene. matt, back to you. >> okay, erin, thank you. time now 5:37. philadelphia police are awaiting autopsy results on a decomposing body that was found in a grays ferry home. a neighbor discovered the body of the 51-year-old in the man's home yesterday. it was naked lying in the living room floor of the house in the 1500 block of south hollywood street. police believe the man had been dead for several days. he had no visible signs of trauma. the house was in disarray but officers are not discounting the possibility that the man was just sloppy. >> now to an "action news" exclusive. philadelphia police say they have finally foiled a motorcycle theft operation. police caught the alleged thieves in the act yesterday morning. they say a home on the 4200 block of mill street in holmesburg was turned into a chop shop. leonard harris and walter

jacobs were arrested and charged. police were on the 3200 block of cottman avenue after they got called. witnesses said they saw the men trying to steal david vocht's gleaming yellow chopper yesterday morning. >> got my clutch set up. they couldn't get it started. the clutch won't pull in all the way. >> they had a dark colored suburban that had been used in previous thefts throughout the city. >> police say surveillance video from an attempted theft earlier this month shows harris and jacobs in that suburban. investigators say they expect to also make further arrests. >> things could really be happening this afternoon. >> yeah, and i don't think everybody is going to see a thunderstorm but the trouble is they're going to be so gusty with such torrential downpours you don't want to be driving in the middle of this its a little tricky. let's take a look at storm tracker six live double scan around the region we're basically dry. i want to go in a little tighter because with double scan you can see every little sprinkle. we have a little one forming near malvern and i'm seeing just a touch of yellow so it might be a quick hitter as it

move to the east and green lane as well along the northeast extension just watch for that. let's go outside right now and see what it looks like. we're in the fog but it's not looking bad in cape may, is it? it's rather inviting. i think we should go and do the forecast down there why not. 74 degrees right now in philadelphia, the dewpoint spunt it feels uncomfortable with high humidity once again. the winds out of the east so light, so no break with the breeze and the barometric pressure holding steady. satellite6 and action radar showing lots of clouds, maybe a shower trying to pop up in the morning. the morning mostly dry. later today we're dealing with this, a cluster of thunderstorms and you can see our always on day planner to help you make plans around all that. future tracker six showing at 9 o'clock maybe there was a sprinkle in one or two places that move out of the there. the trouble really comes this afternoon. so, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon we see some thunderstorms forming and look at the dark colors there the purple, the red that indicates just driving rain with any one of these storms which is not surprising at such high dewpoints and the humidity out here. as the weak cold front comes through it will spark these

storms here or therely. this is a look at 4:30. you get the idea it's kind of scattered a bit throughout area. at 6 o'clock still a thunderstorm or two through the region. during your drive time. but then those thunderstorms break the heat and humidity. it looks a lot better. look how clear this looks at midnight on wednesday so just hang out at midnight you'll be fine. but prior to that we could see strong gusty winds. we have a probability for severe weather low possibility for straight line winds that could get up to 60 miles an hour and that's certainly enough to produce damage. that's why we're just watching it so carefully here. day planner showing a high of 91 degrees by 8:00 a.m. the 79, by 11:00 85 degrees with clouds and sun. by were p.m. we start to see those thunderstorms in some spots. by 5:00 p.m. 85 degrees with a thunderstorm that brings that temperature down. here's a look at your exclusive accuweather 7-day humid today gusty thunderstorm, 91 degrees for your high temperature. so it's hot humid with a thunderstorm. tomorrow less humid, dry. it's a little bit of a nicer day, 84. we could see some showers and

jump out of the moving car. he in the end broke his arm. his son though, was not seriously hurt. >> new this morning, al-qaeda's branch in yemen confirmed today that a cia drone strike took out the terror group's number two leader. meanwhile there are conflicting reports about wanted terrorist mokhtar belmokhtar. officials believe the al-qaeda leader was one of at least 17 people killed in an air strike over the weekend. mokhtar is not on an immediate list of casualties just listed by libyan militants. the u.s. filed terrorism charges against him saying he took part in a 2013 attack in algeria that left at least 35 hostages dead. >> some community members in san diego want punitive action against a cher rivers deputy much the deputy tase add teen boy. a rally was held last night claiming the deputy used excessive force. cell phone video from saturday captured part of the incident. the sheriff says when the deputy approached a group of young people he recognized one of them as a run away 13-year-old. the deputy says when he tried

>> friends and family gathered in newark last night to remember the four-year-old girl who drowned in a delaware pond over the weekend. mariah selby wandered away from a picnic at george wilson community center on saturday. firefighters pulled her out of a retention pond. she later died at the hospital. police say the death remains under investigation. also new this morning, the discovery of a toddler's body in western pa is now being investigated as a homicide. two-year-old adriana williams was found dead in a wooded area a few miles away from her home. the discovery happened just one hour after her family reported her missing. police in allegany county believe someone who knew the girl killed her over the weekend and then dumped her body. the child's cause and manner of death are still pending further test results. police are following leads but they have not yet made any arrests. >> philadelphia district attorney seth williams says will he not reopen the criminal case against a police officer who shot and can killed brandon tate brown. his family held a news

conference outside city hall yesterday calling on williams to consider new evidence. they argue video released last week contradicts police claims that tate brown was reaching into a car for a loaded pistol. police shot the 26-year-old at a mayfair traffic stop back in december saying the situation escalated when tate brown resisted arrest. >> he was happy with his life. and it was tooken from him by one person's judgment. one person made a decision. accountability is all i'm asking. >> tate brown's family is suing the city. supporters are calling on the federal government to get involved. >> it's 5:57. and new this morning, the search is on for the drive by shooter who seriously wounded someone in philadelphia overnight. >> a drugstore giant targets pharmacies. what it means for your medicine next on "action news." >> ♪♪
