through injuries. thank you and congratulations. and now, to the golden state warriors. joe, peter, coach kerr and this team, what a historic season. and now, you've been waiting a long time, so, i won't keep you waiting any longer. for the 2015 larry o'brien nba championship -- the golden state warriors. >> joe, i'm going to start with you. because when your ownership group took over, the very first time you had to aggress those so loyal fans back in oakland, you looked up at the one banner and said, that's lonely up there. what kind of satisfaction do you take in giving those fans back in oakland this championship?

>> this is our fans. we have the greatest fans in the world. it's been 40 years. i'm so happy for them. and i'm so happy for our ownership group and the players and our coaches. 40 years, seven months and one day, and this last day is the best day. >> doris: congratulations. peter -- as joe takes that trop trophy. peter, between those championships, there were long stretches of futility for this organization. what's gone into this championship? >> the culture. the culture from top to bottom. the players made it work on the floor and rick and bob, joe, the whole team, the whole organization, they wanted to win. they wanted to play great and they did just that. they won, 40 years, through the desert to now. it's a long journey, but they paid it off.

>> doris: congratulations. steve kerr, i'm not going to allow you to duck me, sir. there he is. steve, in your first year, you have said all season long that this group of men was special. what has been the defining characteristics of this group? >> i think the sacrifice that every guy made, from andre and david, you know, stepping away from the starting lineup, throughout the playoffs, different guys stepping in and playing, whatever match-up we needed. we just played and they were all in it, just to win. that's the only thing that mattered. this is an amazing group of guys. >> doris: last night, you said to us, you didn't have time, this series didn't give you time to reflect on all the people who have helped you get here. who are you thinking of right now? >> i'm thinking of lute olsen. i'm thinking of phil jackson, lenny wilkins, gregg popovich. i've been blessed to play for this greatest coaches ever, and i've learned a ton from them and they've all helped me get here and -- i was blessed with an

unbelievable group of guys in my first year. i can't believe how lucky i am. thanks. >> doris: well done, steve. please welcome back to the podium to present the 2015 bill russell most valuable player award, adam silver. >> thank you. it could have been a lot of these guys, but there can only be one mvp, and this year's mvp is a player who didn't start in a single game until these finals. this year's bill russell mvp, andre iguodala! >> doris: andre, the commissioner just mentioned it. 758 straight games in your career, you started. in what way did your sacrifice

of coming off the bench embody the spirit of this entire group? >> we got a team full of believers. we all go to chapel before every game. we all believe. and we all say gold has a way for you, a purpose for you. this is my purpose. and i accepted it. i got great teammates. steph, i want to be just like steph when i grow up. just a god-fearing man, great guy. >> doris: there's a set of young eyes on you right here. can you describe what it's like to hold that, be a champion and have your son standing right here? >> man, it's -- so much, this is my man, my booboo london at home -- this is great. we're going to remember this for a long time. >> doris: congratulations, andre. steph curry -- steph? steph? come on up front. with that beautiful little girl. no bring, riley. you got to bring riley. steph, your first year, you won

26 games, your second year, you win 36. you talked about the changing perception of what it meant to be a warrior. what does it mean now? >> world champs. this is -- this is truly special. this group is a special group, from the time we started the season, this is what we envisioned. a lot of hard work goes into it. all the way down to the last minute of this game, that's what this is all about. to have the families here, the whole team, everybody be apart of it. we're going to remember this for a long time. >> you said signature moments are reserved only for champions. what will you remember most about this journey? >> tonight, the whole process, i mean, we're -- anxious before the game, trying to get the game startled and just the whole battle. we knew we weren't going to quit. we made plays down the stretch. unimaginable feeling out there on the floorp, knowing you're one game away from an nba championship and we got it done. >> describe the moment when you

went over and shared postgame, that moment with your father, dell. >> it's special. i'm in the family business and this is for my whole family, because, you know, he played 16 years in this league and was never able to enjoy this. he can live through myself and the whole team, because he's as much apart of this as we are. >> doris: congratulations, steph. klay? klay thompson. he's tall enough, i should be able to find him. klay thompson? there he is. klay, you have been step by step alongside of steph as this journey to a championship has occurred. as you reach the mountain top,

what is this like for you? >> it's hard to put into words. you know, to see where we've all come as a team, i mean, it was -- a collective effort throughout the whole year and man, just so proud of these guys. some day i'll tell my grandkids. i can't put it into words. >> doris: draymond green, a guy that slips to the second round, completes this championship with a triple-double. can you describe how valuable that young guy was? >> oh, his emotion, you know, his heart, he brings it every night. he's not afraid of the moment. he's not afraid of anybody. one of toughest competitors i ever played with. doesn't show up in the box score every night, his toughness and grit. it trickles down. so, couldn't have done this without him. and he has one of the brightest features in the nba. >> doris: you, too, are the son of an nba player, a guy who is a champion. please describe for me what it is like to share this moment with him? >> it's special. great to give him a hug.

can't wait to see my family. you know, i got one more to catch him, but man, it's a special feeling and like he told me, not a greater feeling in the world. >> doris: congratulations. >> thank you, doris. >> doris: congratulations to the 2015 nba champion golden state warriors. mike, back to you. >> mike: thank you very much, doris. it is always an interesting dynamic when you have the trophy presentation on the road, but the golden state warriors could care less, as this is the start of a long, long celebration, as they win the franchise's first title in 40 years. since 1975 when rick barry led them in scoring. now 40 years later, they win the title. all right, mark, let me start with you. and you talked about a little bit toward the end of the game, you had a number of people come over to you from the warriors and the players, and give you a hug because of your contributions to what's happened

and the growth of this team, getting to this point. what's going through your head tonight? >> mark: well, this is about them. steve kerr, this organization, these players, incredible year. 67 wins, the pressure was on them, they responded and they're champions. it is their moment, they've earned it and they should celebrate. >> mike: what's the thing that stands out in terms of, let's just say with the finals, what they did here in the finals? >> mark: well, great versatili y versatility. you have to have guys willing to sacrifice. andre iguodala did that. and because of that, he's the mvp of the finals. top through bottom, they sacrificed, they embraced their roles and because of that, they're always be remembered. >> mike: jeff, what do you take away from the finals and what the warriors did? >> jeff: well, similar, i think you need, obviously, great talent, you need great habits. you need a little bit of luck. but you also need health. and they were healthy, they have the right habits, and they have talent. they put that all together with versatility, their coaching staff did an outstanding job,

>> so, the champagne is flowing in the visitors locker room here at quicken loans arena. meanwhile, at the other end, obviously disappointment for the cleveland cavaliers. >> i love you. i'm back. >> mike: well, his return home brought unbridled joy to the city. the kid from akron was back home. he came oh, so close to ending the championship drought, putting on a performance for the ages, as they came within two wins of winning a championship. but the fairy tale ending was not to be for lebron james and the cavs. at least not this season. warriors won a championship in '75, led by hall of famer rick barry. they swept the washington bullets. but it would be 40 years before they got another title. >> warriors, until the last few years, were irrelevant for most of the past two decades. >> first time in 40 years a warriors team has been here and

my six years since i been here, just to see where we came from to now and all that's gone into that, it's a special moment. >> mike: what a magical year. the best team from start to finish. 67 wins. the coach said, their commitment to each other made them special. the leek's bestague's best offe defense. entertaining style, led by the rookie head coach who has had such a fascinating basketball life. five-time champion player, front office exec, tv analyst, now a championship head coach. the mvp, a brilliant point guard with breathtaking skills shined on the game's biggest stage. not physically imposing, but he strikes fear into his opponents. klay thompson, the other splash brother. what a year. they talked of trading him last summer. but he answered the talk with an all-star all-nba season, and now a ring. andre iguodala, waited 11 years to win it all. his acceptance of a bench role set the tone of sacrifice for

crew where is called to this home in the 2200 block of gene road in mill creek at 7:40 tonight, and they say it was at least 120 degrees in the attic. medical examiner will determine if that extreme heat or preexisting medical condition or both, led to his death. crews are on the scene of the water main break in the kensington section of philadelphia. a 6-inch pipe broke in the 2600 block of east cambria and at 10:00 o'clock tonight. we have not heard if anyone lost water because of the break. philadelphia police are working overtime to catch a serial taxi thief. law men say that the bandit has stolen 12 taxis in all. "action news" reporter dann cuellar has the full story. >> reporter: it is almost as if he is doing it for sport to show he can steel them and getaway with it but police say is there more to it. cab thief is using them to transport criminals to shoot and rob people catching victims by surprise. police are hoping someone

recognizes man in this surveillance footage they say he is on a roll manager to go swipe 12 taxi cabs in southwest and west philadelphia since june 7th, stranger still he is not using them to collect fairs on june 9th he used one to transport a gunman to the 4100 block of ogden where a man was sitting on his porch. >> he gets out and fires multiple times, hits a male in the torso. he is currently still at penn presbyterian in critical condition. >> reporter: june 15th he uses another cab to transport three pennsylvania male to the 4,000 block of west minister to rob a man. >> they point aid gun and fleeing in that same cab they robbed him with and that cab was recovered in the wyalusing. >> reporter: lieutenant walker had has never seen anything like it. he believes he had has a key for cans and video shows him walking up to them and unlocking them mostly fords made between 2007 through 2009. >> we believe that male has some familiarity with cabs. so we are asking cabdrivers to pay attention to that particular male. >> reporter: they want everyone taking a cab to make

sure they have two forms of identification as required to operate a cap in the it i. id with his name and photograph and driver's certificate. >> every cab should have a certificate. just pay attention to those two pieces of identification f they don't have it, just don't get in that cab. >> reporter: passengers should avoid getting in cabs without dome lights or meters running. that equipment can be turned on by a license cabdriver with a special swipe card. so far they have been limited to southwest and west philadelphia, anyone with any information is being asked to call police. in southwest detectives, i'm dann cuellar for channel six "action news". police are looking for a man who stole adderall from a pharmacy and carjack a priest, in haddonfield, new jersey. the man walk into this rite aide on the 700 block of haddon avenue knew at 1210 today, and he jumped over the pharmacy counter, pulled out a gun and demanded drugs. he took off after he got adderall. he ran in the parking lot and

carjack a priest. the suspect drove the car, just a block before he jump out and ran. this crash in elsmere, delaware sent two people to the hospital, a pickup truck and a suv collided at center and faulkland road at 9:15 tonight. the suv then crashed in another vehicle. we know two victims a man and a woman are in serious but not life threatening injuries. charges have been filed against a man from lease port for a deadly crash that killed a berks county pastor and injured her husband. investigators say 31 year-old shawn irich was under influence when his ford explorer crossed in the path of brian and lynn couch's motorcycle earlier this month. he surrendered to police and released on $50,000.01. a window in the camden river sharks team store outside campbell's field crashed to the ground this evening just minutes before the game started. it fell out, hit awning below

and shattered on to the the ground. fortunately nobody was hurt. two people accused of break nothing to nearly 50 vehicles have been caught. police say that sean johnson and anisa jordan started to break into cars last month taking electronics, sunglasses and jewelry. break ins happened around tilton road and kings ton avenue in egg harbor township. suspects are from baltimore but they have been staying in this area. they still don't know what spark that massive blaze last night in the heart of the west chester but they certainly know how much damage it did. "action news" reporter walter perez was on the site today. >> reporter: it took 140 fire fighters and first responders, nearly two hours to get this three alarm fire under control. now approximately, five million-dollar worth of damage is is what left behind. earlier today "action news" was allowed inside the historic office building located on north church street, and went up in flames last night. west chester fire chief mike

mcdonald says fact that it was built around the turn of the 20th century helped keep the situation from becoming worse. >> heavy december, the roof was under construction. made it a lot easier for fire fighting efforts. it was a newer balloon type construction it would be on the ground. >> reporter: huge portion of the building was occupied by dnb first bank and local officials say they feel confident that the rebuilding process will include dnb and every other tenant affect by this. >> that building is beautiful. it is a contributing resource to our historic downtown and we hope rebuilding effort goes well and dnb cannery join us as soon as possible. >> reporter: fire officials say only silver lining is that the fire broke out at 9:30 last night. no one was inside the massive office building at the time and no injuries have been reported. we spoke to people living nearby who say only thing they can do now is look forward to the building's reconstruction. >> i think the appropriate fund will be allocated in order to make it what it was

in both cases he handed a teller a note and demanded cash. suspect is in the mid to late 20's with the beard and tattoos on both arms. police say he is armed and should be considered dangerous. a threat prompted the evacuation of the two philadelphia naval facilities today. the naval support facility in lawn dale and the shipyard in south philadelphia were evacuated just before 11:00 o'clock this morning. chopper 6hd spotted several vehicles streaming out of those locations. both locations were given the all clear less than an hour later. official was say recent intelligence spurred evacuations but threat turnout to be not credible. the city of philadelphia has started to disclose plans for moving people, during the pope's visit in september. the long and short of it is this, don't expect to drive your car, as if you were going to an eagles game. mayor michael nutter says this will be the biggest event in the history of this city, and people should expect to

celebration, ended in tragedy this morning, when a balcony collapsed, six people were killed, and seven were injured, seriously in berkley, california. the victims who ranged in age from 20 to 22 were all irish citizens and they were in the united states on a student exchange, summer work program. the search goes on for two murderers who escaped from a maximum security prison in new york state. excuse me. authorities say that bad weather is hindering their efforts, and the rain is washing away any possible scent of david sweat and richard matt. meanwhile prison worker charge with helping the men escaped joyce mitchell was visited in jail by her husband today. we heard today from rachel

dolezal, the former leader of the spokane washington naacp. dolezal resigned her post after her estrange parents disclose that had dolezal is white. during her first interview this morning she was asked if she is an african-american women and she responded i identify as black. she started identifying as black when she was around five but her mother called that a fabrication. dolezal would not say that identifying herself as black was wrong. >> i am one of survival and decisions i have made along the way including my identification has been to survive. >> dolezal said tonight that there is no biological proof that her mother and father are actually her parents. let's get the accu weather forecast, with meteorologist cecily tynan. >> we have a nice break from the heat and humidity. storm tracker six live double scan showing cold front that brought us isolated showers
