especially south of the city right now. how about the temperatures? it's 61, not bad in quakertown, 62 in kennett square. still warm in center city at 73 degrees. in most of the suburbs in new jersey you're looking at the low 60's in hammonton and browns mills feels particularly nice there. 67 in glassboro and just in the up are 60's right now in delaware. today we're going to see lots of sunshine mixing with some clouds. so sunshine especially early on and then mixing with clouds but importantly feels less humid so i think it feels good out there. 84 degrees for your high temperature although the dry conditions are short lived because later tonight we have mostly cloudy skies. we're watching for showers and thunderstorms that lead into tomorrow morning so tomorrow morning we've got a wet morning commute for you. i'll show you what that looks like on future tracker six coming up in you a minutes matt. >> about time you had some good news. >> i know, right. >> i'm glad to hear it. believe it or not i've got good news this morning. good morning karen. the vine from the schuylkill westbound reopened. that's because the overnight construction on the vine in beau both direction has

cleared. crews return at 11 o'clock tonight. for now he everything is opened on the vine and the schuylkill expressway and on the lincoln drive we had a downed tree there that blocked the northbound lanes overnight at gypsy lane. that downed tree out of the way. everything is reopened there by the old intond precinct. good news ends there. we've got a crash on the pennsylvania turnpike early this morning about 3 miles east of willow grove in the eastbound direction. left lane is blocked so you could start to see some delays but it's not nearly as foggy as yesterday morning. in fact, we can see our good buddy ben the ben franklin bridge has that ongoing work zone as you come out of the toll plaza headed westbound from camden towards center city but no problems, visibilities are good and so we can see the construction here as well along 42 southbound side at creek road, they're still working still take out the right lane but of course most of you come northbound on 42 in the morning and in that direction everything is clear and looking good. some paving work to watch out for along 70 this morning eastbound at cropwell road. a lane is blocked. and if you're travel on 38 between maple shade over

toward cherry hill watch out for work blocking up to two lanes until 6:00. matt. >> all right, matt thanks. new this morning a philadelphia man is in critical condition following a brutal assault overnight. the search is on for his three armed attackers. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live outside northwest detectives with the full story. katherine. >> reporter: matt, police are now looking for surveillance footage to see if there's anything that can help identify those three at d.c., one woman and two men police are looking for but they have no further description. the victim remains in critical condition at the hospital. there were several witnesses. they were taken here to northwest detectives to be interviewed and northwest detectives were on the scene overnight in the logan section of the city at sixth and somerville. this happened around 11:30 last night and when police arrived, they found a man on the sidewalk bleed heavily. he had been shot, stabbed assaulted and robbed of his watch, wallet and cell phone. police rushed him to the hospital and at that point he was conscious and able to speak with police.

he told them two men and a woman were behind this but didn't provide any further description. he was in surgery overnight suffering from a number of injuries. >> he's suffering from a combination of stab wounds to his back and at least one gunshot wound to his thigh. he also has some puncture marks on his face. >> reporter: all three suspects fled on foot east on somerville from sixth. if you have any tips northwest detectives want to hear from you. we're live in fern rock, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> okay, katherine thank you for that. philadelphia police are warning people who take cabs to be aware of a serial taxi thief. surveillance video shows the man accused of swiping 12 taxi cabs in west and southwest philadelphia since june 7th. on one occasion he drove a gunman to a shooting. nearly a week later he used a cab to take three men to a robbery. investigators say the thief may have been a former cab driver himself. police want anybody taking a cab to make sure that the driver has an id that has the

driver's name and photo on it and that they see a driver's certificate. >> not every cab driver is bad. we do have a situation at this point and pay attention to those two pieces of identification. if they don't have it just don't get good in that cab. >> passengers should avoid getting into a cab without a dome light and a meter on it. it 5:05. a former baltimore ravens cheerleader faces up to 15 years in prison for raping a teenaged boy. 40-year-old molly shattuck entered a plea yesterday. the victim was 15 years old at the time of the encounter. he was a friend of her son's. she admits the two had sex while on vacation in bethany beach labor day weekend. shattuck will be sentenced in august. she also has to register as a sex offender. >> a window at the camden river sharks stadium crashed to the ground. the glass fell to the ground yesterday evening. it toppled onto a first floor awning then shattered onto the

ground below. no one was injured. it is unclear why the window gave way. crews were on the scene of a water main break in philadelphia's kensington section. a 6-inch pipe broke along with the 2600 block of east cambria street at 10 o'clock last night. no word if anyone lost water pressure as a result of the break. this is the second break in less than a week. >> time now to talk about accuweather. it feels so much better this morning than it did yesterday. >> it does right, as soon as you step outside, i was like, oh finally nice and cool. let's take a look at storm tracker six live double scan around the region and we are dry through the area. we're looking pretty good. let's take a look outside and see what's going on right now. it's early and we're looking live going outside and looking at a pretty shot of the sunrise trying to work its way out there. as we look over the ben franklin bridge, you can see the clear skies that we have through the area. we'll see some clouds moving in later but we'll get some of that sunshine nice and early. the temperatures 73 degrees. the dewpoint is way down. yesterday it was 71.

we're at 60 now. i think in many areas in the afternoon it will drop to the 50's so that just means nice and comfortable and very low humidity. the winds are out of the north-northwest at 5 miles per hour. barometric pressure is rising. any time you have the dewpoint 60 or below you feel nice and comfortable out there. that's the change for today. that oppressive humidity is out of there. we only had a few storms late yesterday and looking at satellite6 and action radar you can see how they cleared the way with a cool front that dipped through. we've got high pressure briefly in control today. we'll see sunshine right now. you see some high clouds that are trying to stream in from the south and the west and they will make it here and we're going to get some of those showers as well but for the most part they hold off until later on tonight and especially in the overnight hours, that's when you really knowles it. at 1:30 in the morning you see these showers maybe even thunderstorms moving in. if you're driving in the middle of the night like i do you'll be driving through some of that and by the morning commute it should just be a bit wet at times so watch for that tomorrow morning maybe give yourself a little extra time as we'll be dealing with. that let's take a look at your

exclusive accuweather 7-day forecasts it's a lot less humid today. we're seeing some early sunshine especially. we're going to see those clouds fill in a little more as the morning progresses and the day progresses. 84 degrees for your high temperature so a lot better than it had been with the oppressive heat and humidity. tomorrow we're going to get morning showers. it's going to be cloudy as well at times and that's going to hold that temperature down to 77 degrees so watch for that tomorrow. on friday partly sunny skies. we get low humidity once again. we're getting these little day breaks here and there and friday is a break day. 85 degrees for your high. the weekend is not bad. it's not entirely dry but it's not bad. saturday looks okay, clouds and sunshine. a thunderstorm or two in a few spots but it should hold off until late in the day so that's a lot better for you. 85 degrees for your high. on sunday it will be humid as we celebrate dad for father's day and summer officially arrives with 90 degrees to your high. if we get any of the moisture from what was tropical storm bill we'll be getting some of that on sunday so you want to watch for that. some showers around, maybe a thunderstorm but it looks at this point that most of the

moisture will head up north. on monday hot with a thunderstorm around and 90 degrees for your high. and tuesday mostly cloudy skies and 87 degrees with a chance for a shower or a thunderstorm around. so today feeling pretty nice for this time of year, temperatures in the low to mid 80's less humid. we'll take it. >> we will take it for sure. next up here at 5:09, investigators release surveillance video hoping to catch a predator who seems to be arguing asian women in new york city. >> a major automaker is expanding its recall of air bags that could potentially explode. matt. >> not a bad start matt, here in fort washington along 309. taillights are headed southbound towards the pennsylvania turnpike but if you're getting on that turnpike eastbound i've got a big warning to your. big problems up ahead after the break. >> a prestigious university hangs out a help wandered sign for a lego professor. we'll explain a little later in the morning buzz.

>> ♪♪ >> welcome back. taking a look down the shore beautiful start here on your wednesday morning. it is 5:12 right now 72 degrees out there. we get up to 83. >> what are our obstacles as we go to work and school today, matt? >> we have some of them already. i like it when it's an obstacle free sort of course into the office on a wednesday morning. but that's not what we've got so we'll deal with what we've got tam and matt. as we come out of the suburbs this morning if you're getting on the pennsylvania turnpike headed eastbound, i don't know that you want to do that at this point. a crash 3 miles east of the willow grove interchange, 611 at multi vehicle accident.

unfortunately someone trapped in the wreckage there. so a lot of emergency crews are converging on the scene and all of the eastbound lanes are temporarily blocked because of the crash. so coming away from willow grove you're not getting through headed towards bensalem and route one at the moment. stay on county line, et cetera and of course we'll keep you posted on that temporary blockage of the eastbound pennsylvania turnpike. on the northeast extension had some overnight construction, not such a big deal here and now the zones are actually clear. they were both ways north of quakertown so some better news there. that's the situation on 476 the northeast extension. if you were trying to get to 476 the blue route overnight you had a tough time from 95 northbound here in delco. i told you they were going to close this ramp from the northbound lanes of 95 to the northbound side of 476. they've reopened it. you can see traffic now getting by but they set up a new barrier. they're reconfiguring that ramp to give you more room so it's a good thing but the ramp was shut down overnight reopened now. meanwhile still have overnight

construction in good way township atlantic county. ing to some paving work there along the lines just east of pomona roadblocking a lane until 6:00 time for the commuter report brought to you by the waze app. one of our friends in mount airy talking about some moderate traffic no big deal along stafford street. the good news is on the lincoln drive that downed tree that was closing things down near gypsy lane is out of the way. everything reopened there. matt. >> thanks, matt. a string of attacks on asian women in lower manhattan has residents on edge. police say this surveillance video shows the man before his latest attack on monday afternoon. in another attack the victim says the man complained asian women don't want to date him and then slammed her in the face with a hard object. the nypd is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the attacker's arrest. >> two men who escaped a maximum security prison in new york state are still on the run. now state police are trying to expand their search. authorities are dealing with trouble starting with the bad weather. that rain is washing away any

possible scent of david sweat and richard matt. meanwhile the prison worker charged with helping the men escaped, joyce mitchell. she was visited in jail yesterday by her husband. an army veteran who jumped the white house fence and managed to run inside will spend 17 months in prison. prosecutors had asked that omar gonzalez get a much longer sentence but his lawyer argued he deserved some leniency because of his military service. gonzalez was arrested in september. his lawyers says he has a history of mental issues. >> the golden state warriors celebrating their first nba championship since 1975. the warriors defeated deb lebron james and the cavaliers 105 to 97 in cleveland. steph curry and former sixer andre iguodala scored 25 points a piece. iguodala was voted the m.v.p. of the finals. cleveland continues the longest championship drought of any major sports city, 51 years.

the phillies yielded eight home runs, summoned their right fielder jeff francoeur to pitch a few innings all while stumbling to a 19 to three loss to the orioles in baltimore last night. pitcher jerome williams left in the first inning with a hamstring injury. the defeat sealed the phillies' first winless road trip of eight games since 1883 their inaugural season. it was the phillies kathy straight loss and 12th straight on the road. >> 5:16. more cars are being added to an already massive air bag recall. >> hear from the brave 10-year-old florida boy who pulled children from a burning home. karen. >> feels a lot nicer out there with temperatures in the low 60's in the lehigh valley. 73 in the city and again the low 60's in some spots in new jersey like 64 in hammonton 63 in browns mills. not bad. we'll check that seven-day forecast coming up.

it christine's critter cafe a rescue for animals. the township ordered it to close in may because of the colony of domestic rats. the owner says the rats have been dropped off at the rescue and they multiply. the other animals that were being cared for at the critter cafe 40 rabbits and 18 cats were moved out. >> gross. >> that's too many rats even for all those katz. >> i know. snakes i can handle, even cockroaches, i can but rats, no. i hate -- i don't want -- rats i hate. we're saying oh rats here this morning if you're traveling eastbound you'll want to bail by the time you get to willow grove. 3 miles east of the willow grove interchange there's a multi vehicle accident blocking the eastbound lanes as you head towards bensalem. westbound they have the left lane blocked with the emergency crews. so big problems on the pennsylvania turnpike. we'll keep you posted. and is that time of year the fire fly musikfest value

trends when it couples to american burst. 53,000 more babies were born in 2014 than the year before that's a 1 percent increase. births were up for nearly every racial and ethnic group. this is the largest increase in seven years. there were improvements in other levels. teen births hit a historic low and fewer cesarean sections and preterm deliveries. the nation has been in a baby recession in 2007 a decline experts have blamed mainly on the bad economy. the food and drug administration is requiring manufacturers to phase out partially hydrogenated oils out of food. these oils are the primary source of trans fats. they're commonly found in baked goods cake icing and microwave popcorn. doctors estimate ditching the trans fats will prevent about 20,000 heart attacks every year. manufacturers have three years to make the changes. >> the takata air bag recall expands. >> the giant air bag recall growing again. >> toyota adding nearly a

with saving two other boys from a burning home. 10-year-old isaiah francis and 11-year-old grimes say they saw a father throwing water on the fire. >> i went running outside and i said where is kids at. he said in the room so i went into the house grabbing the kids. >> the boys rescued two of those children. firefighters went in and pulled two more out to safety. two of the victims were taken to the hospital. there's no word on their condition. crews on the scene say they were told that the fire started on the stove but investigators now say that does not appear to be true. so the state fire marshal is still investigating. >> the university of cambridge in great britain is looking for a new professor for legos. >> okay. >> the requirement. >> what. >> yeah, legos. you have to know how to play with them and build them which really isn't all that hard but they're seeking a lego professor because they want to launch a new research center focused on play in education development and learning.
