>> bracing for bill. flash flood and tornado warnings remain in place though the storm is quickly losing steam. >> 6:30 on this wednesday. matt pelman joins us along with karen who is filling in for david and she's enjoying the nice weather outside. >> i am enjoying the weather. and you should too because it's beautiful out here. we've got bright beautiful sunshine this morning and much lower humidity. let's take a look at satellite6 and action radar. and you can see that the clouds have cleared nicely. lots of sunshine early today but you see the clouds filling in from the north and the west and that is headed in our direction as well as some showers for the overnight hours. today the dewpoints are way down. they were in the 70's. they're in the 50's now. that means it feels nice and comfortable. humidity is not an issue today. and temperatures have dipped in quakertown. these are new numbers. 59 degrees in quakertown, 61 in saints david's. 62 in chester. a warmer 73 in the city. 62 in browns mills, 65 in glassboro, 66 in dover. really comfortable today with a high of 84 degrees. by 9:00 a.m., 78. by noon, 82.

by 3:00 p.m., 83 degrees. by 6:00 p.m. 78. some showers arrive especially after midnight tonight and that's going to impact your morning commute tomorrow. so enjoy today while you can 'cause we've got a beauty, matt. >> all right, we won't think about tomorrow at this point. things becoming a little more comfortable on some of our roadways karen because some of our problems are clearing out like that broken down vehicle we had on 95 northbound in the work zone at girard. all three lanes reopened headed northbound. southbound the lanes are opened but they are crowded as you can see from academy to cottman, again the betsy ross bridge through this point at girard headed towards center city. and our crash on the pennsylvania turnpike, the big accident of the this morning eastbound about 3 miles east of willow grove is now completely out of the way. still a little bit sluggish through there but the delay is starting to let up. but to take its place there's a new crash in hatboro along byberry road at south new street and we have that crash that brought down the traffic signal in pennsauken along 130 affecting traffic in both

directions at cove road by the dunkin' donuts. they've got the left lane now blocked in both directions. before it was the two left lanes. now just the one left lane. so making progress but still some restrictions there in pennsauken. here in bellmawr camden county some building northbound volume along 42 but as you can see, we're not jammed yet headed towards 295. downed tree in medford along tabernacle road at dixon town road. watch out for fire crews. we're getting reports that the tree was also on fire. tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. new this morning a trio of armed robbers made it a painful night for one man in the logan section. they're still out there on the run. katherine scott is live outside of northwest detectives. she's got more on the story. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tam. and police are looking for surveillance footage to see if they can find any that can help give more descriptions, better descriptions of the three people they're looking for, two men and one woman. several witnesses were taken here to northwest detectives

to be interviewed and the victim remains in critical condition. northwest detectives were on the scene last night of logan for hours gathering evidence after this brutal robbery. it happened around 11:30 last night at sixth and somerville. when police arrived they found a man on the sidewalk, he was bleeding heavily. he had been shot, stabbed assaulted and robbed of his watch, wallet and cell phone. police rushed him to the hospital and at that point he was conscious and able to speak with police. he told them two men and a woman were behind this but didn't provide any further description. he was in surgery overnight suffering from a number of injuries. >> he's suffering from combination of stab wounds to his back and at least one gunshot wound his thigh. he also has some puncture marks in his face. >> reporter: all three suspects fled east on somerville from sixth. if you have any tips northwest detectives want to hear from you. we're live in fern rock, katherine scott channel6

"action news." >> thanks katherine. "action news" learned an armed robber who carjacked a priest in camden county may have held up another drugstore. the man was wearing a reflective vest a hard hat and was carrying a traffic cone. when he stole adderal from a rite-aid on the 700 block of haddon avenue in haddonfield yesterday afternoon. he then ran into the parking lot forced a priest out of his vehicle and took off with that. the robber drove the car a block, jumped out and ran. police say the robber held up a rite-aid in gloucester county back in may also wore a reflective vest and a hard hat. >> police are still looking for a suspect in a delaware county home invasion. three alleged accomplices are already in custody. police say the brothers jermaine and sterling wallace broke into a home on old cedar grove road in broomall monday. they're accused of tying up a 17-year-old and his mother before taking money and jewelry. philadelphia police have released pictures of a bank robber who struck twice this movement he hit two republic bank branches both on frankford avenue and in both cases he handed the teller a

note demanding cash. the suspect is in his mid to late 20's with a beard blue eyes and tattoos on both arms and police warn you he is armed and dangerous. >> 6:35 now. the city of philadelphia is disclosing its transportation plans for the papal visit in september. mayor michael nutter predicts it will be the biggest event in the history of the city. he warned attendees should expect to walk long distances once they arrive by mass transit. septa's goal is to transport three times its normal number of daily passengers. riders will need a special one day, $10 pass. they will go on sale next month. nutter also wants to discourage people from planning to leave their cars in the septa station parking lots. >> maybe someone can drive you in the car to the mass transit station and drop you off but they should not necessarily anticipate that you're just going to pull up and park your car and jump on the train. >> pope francis will visit philadelphia for the world meeting of families on saturday and sunday

september 26th and 27th. delegates from the philadelphia archdiocese the city of philadelphia and the world meeting of families committee will travel to rome next week for their final meetings before the pope's visit. brian taff will be along for the trip. look for his live reports starting monday on "action news." "action news" also create add special twitter page for any papal news you can follow it at 6abc pope. >> former tropical storm bill lost steam as it pounded the texas coastline. it's been downgraded this morning to a tropical depression but flood weary texans are still concerned. the storm could deliver four to 5-inches of are a town areas of central texas. that area is still recovering from memorial day weekend floods that left 14 people dead along the blanco river. arkansas and oklahoma could get up to 9-inches in the coming days. >> not a sure thing that we'll get any of the system's rainfall around here. >> right now looks like the remnants will be just north of us like maybe just north of the poconos but it's so close that we're watching it careful and it would come on father's

day, so a lot of people would be out celebrating so we're watching it very closely but for now not too bad. let's take a look right now at storm tracker six live double scan around the region. you can see we're dry and it feels great out there today. let's go outside. want to start this day right. let's take a live look at some of the sunshine out there this morning. looking at the center city skyline. we have lots of blue clouds and you can see those high thin clouds starting to fill in. we'll see more of that as the day progresses. looking at the numbers and the highlights today, we get a brief break in the heat and the humidity today and it's a bit wet tomorrow. so, some real changes coming up in the seven-day forecast here and we brought in our always on day planner to help you out through the day. 71 degrees the current temperature. look at the dewpoint. it was in the 70's yesterday now it's in the 50's. that's a dramatic change. feels much different out there today with the humidity. not there today. the barometric pressure is rising as we have high pressure briefly in control. satellite6 and action radar showing we have clear skies but you get the idea from this picture it's not going to

last. the clouds are trying to fill in from the north and west and even some showers but the showers hold off until the overnight hours. at the shore today it's much cooler, 75 degrees with sunshine and clouds. we'll see more clouds fill in late in the day at the shore. we'll see those clouds until a little earlier here in the city so let's run it down for you. by 8:00 a.m., 76 with bright sunshine. by 11:00, 82 with more of those high clouds filling in. by 2:00 p.m., 84 degrees with clouds and sunshine. and by 5:00 p.m., 81 degrees. so our high is 84, low humidity nice and comfortable but then late tonight it looks most likely in the overnight hours we get some showers moving in, even the chance for a thunderstorm. this is 1:30 in the morning and you see some of that rainfall coming into the region at 5 o'clock during your morning drive time it's going to be a bit wet at times, so you definitely want to give yourself that extra time tomorrow morning. at 8:30 in the morning still going to see some showers in place and then linger a little bit to the early afternoon. so, tomorrow is a big change. today is a delight so enjoy it. less humid, a high of

roadway. several vehicles involved. the traffic is just squeezing by there on the shoulder headed in toward 202 on the eastbound side of 422 and if you drive 422 you know that it would normally be crowded in this area. so with this crash things are really extra jammed from oaks through this point at the pennsylvania turnpike overpass. we're going to keep watching that nasty situation. we were watching the situation on the pennsylvania turnpike. the multi vehicle accident eastbound past willow grove that is now gone. speeds back up into the 60's so cross that one off the list. things looking better there. but in hatboro we have that crash now along byberry road at south new street. on the big picture on the schuylkill expressway it's a normal morning with speeds like 17 miles per hour westbound there as you travel past city avenue. we've got robert plant in concert at the mann music center tonight and the phils are back in town so going aba busy evening on the roads as well. and 95 southbound of course busy with speeds like 11 miles per hour there by the betsy ross bridge. building volume on 95

northbound here in delaware county and if you exit for the blue route northbound, 476 you're going to see a different pattern on that off ramp this morning. they worked there overnight to kind of reconfigure things a little bit. if you're out and about in pennsauken left lane still out of commission both ways on 130 at cove road by the dunkin' donuts. a crash brought down a traffic signal there. tam. >> thank you matt. we have in a new story information on a story that we told you about last week. investigators in the lehigh valley now say that a recent rash of stray cats deaths looks like they're due to a disease. recently at least a dozen cats in the steel city section as much lower saucon township turned up dead. at first officials thought the cats had been poisoned. the pennsylvania spca performed preliminary tests and the tests show one of the cats died from a highly contagious disease. the spca is now urging all cat owners to make sure that their pets are up to date on their vaccines especially that distemper shot. >> federal authorities are investigating a possible case of espionage in major league baseball.

the fbi is looking into whether the saint louis cardinals front office hacked into the database of a houston astros. that question is -- at question is whether the executives gained access to sensitive information like scouting reports or internal discussions about players and trades. both teams and the mlb say they're cooperating. >> a man is building a discrimination case against a planet fitness in western pennsylvania. chris edmund's friends gave him a visitor's foos that gym. his friend got a call that the pair had been kicked out. edmonds asked the general manage injury for a explanation and al hispanic he got a racist response. >> is it my beard i'm tall, my tattoos. he said pretty much all of the above. >> he said edmonds and his friend are welcomed back. guests are complaining about a training session the pair were leading in the gym. edmonds says that's simply not true and that he wants to see surveillance video. >> time right now is 6:46.

two men and woman attack a man in a logan neighborhood. they stabbed him robbed him and shot him. he's in critical condition. police are interviewing witnesses and checking surveillance video as they search for the attackers. philadelphia police are warning people who take cabs to be aware of a serial taxi thief. they say the go swiped 12 cabs in west and southwest philadelphia in just the the last 10 days. >> don't expect to get anywhere quickly on 422 eastbound this morning. it is a long slow crawl from approaching oaks into this point at the pennsylvania turnpike overpass where there's a crash taking out the two lanes just kind of the shoulder squeezing by there headed in toward king of prussia. 30 minutes should be six karen. >> all right, let's take a look right now at the temperatures. feels good out there. 59 in quakertown, 61 in saint davids, 73 in center city. humidity is way down, 63 in hammonton and 65 in dover. your high today 84. lots of early sunshine. fades behind clouds. by noon 82. by 3:00 p.m. 83 degrees.
