♪ im gardner. it is wednesday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is breaking news from south carolina.

a gunman opened fire inside of a church in downtown charleston. the initial reports are that a number of people have been hit. the church on calhoun church is the season and this video just in to "action news." it is reported to be one of the oldest black churches in the south, and regular wednesday-night services were on the schedule tonight. a number of ambulances have been dispatched to the scene. area hospitals are standing by to receive victims. we will update this story for you as we get more information. transit police. live at septa headquarters dann cuellar channel 67 "action news." police in haddonfield are trying to track down the bandit holding up a rite-aid. and dressed as a construction worker, the same that he wore in a previous hold up. and he dumped the vehicle a block away. atlantic city police arrested as many as 70 casino workers tonight. many more than that stage add protest outside of the taj mahal casino. and carl icahn in the process of acquiring the casino. and workers are concerned about rosing their pension and benefits. >> the workers say their livelihood is at stake and why we saw the passionate response and them also using their

emotions and tensions are running high. this isn't the first time the ka season work-- casino workers have taken to the streets literally. >> with drums, horns and whistles, casino employees caloried outside of the taj mahal to protest what they call an unfair work environment. their chants and demonstrations aimed squarely at the casino owner carl icahn. >> the message we are trying to get to him is quit messing up our lives. >> the largest union representing workers in atlantic city. employees are upset after abruptcy court approached a measure to cut the benefits of 1,000 employees. carl icahn requested those cuts in exchange for investing in the taj mahal and keeping a business

open at a time when casinos were closing left and right. >> and taken about $17,500 away from me a year including my health care and pension. my dignity and my respect. >> and donning bright-colored shirts, union members formed a large circle and staged a sit-in in the middle of the street blocking the intersection near the casino entrance. police looked on allowing the peaceful gathering to continue until employees refused to leave. they were then hand cuffed with zip ties one by one and lined up before being placed in waiting police advance and buses. union members say they have to take a stand. >> no, no, no, give our benefits back. >> the casino management expressed their disappointment in today's rally saying that the taj employees do not benefit from such disruptive conduct.

the pennsylvania supreme court committed the death sent of cop killer bracy. he was convicted in 1991 of shooting rookie philadelphia police officer daniel boyle. he fired eight shots in the roof of the police cruiser hitting the officer in the temple and boyle died two days later. the supreme court ruled 4-1 that bracy cannot be executed because he is intellectually disached and those are barred. and sentenced to 339 to 690 years behind bars for sexually accusing children over a period of decades. they say that warren yerger molested two boys and two girls in his care. by deoften violent acts.

and the puppies survive add crash on the turnpike. a van carrying about 80 dogs for a commercial breeder involved in a wreck near the interchange early this morning. sadly two pup yieppyies did not survive. others had broken bones. the spca are nursing them back to health. and breaking ground on a residential tower in philadelphia, set to rise along the banks of the schuylkill river. this will be a high-rise from carl dranoff. they say with prices starting at $685,000 for a one-bedroom these luxury amenities are really targeting empty-nesters, part of the trend of suburbanites moving into center city hoping to open in the summer of 2017.

a 16-year-old who was attacked by a shark in north carolina over the weekend says he never saw it coming. 16-year-old hunter treschl, who was in waist-deep water near oak island said he felt a bump. seconds later he realized the bump was a shark and he had ahold of his left arm. it ripped off his arm but he was able to run to the shore for help. he was on the mend tonight and keep his spirits high. >> i can try to live my life the way i was and make an effort to do that even though i don't have an arm, or i can kind of let this be completely debilitating and bring my life down and ruin it in a way.

>> less than two hours before the attack, a 12-year-old girl kiersten yow, lost an arm in a similar attack just a mile away. she also remains hospitalized tonight. now to this photo of a shark attack victim causing a stir on social media. the remains of a baby bottle-nosed dolphin that washed up. they believe the bite marks came from a sand tiger sharp, but also say that the chunks were taken out after the dolphin had died from another cause and the sharp species is no concern for people. the federal government called out at&t for allegedly misleading customers about their unlimited data plan. the f.c.c. says that at&t would intentionally slow cell phone user's internet speeds to a crawl after they use a certain amount of data in a month.
