pinkney, throughout the entire bible study. >> friends of roof said he commonly spewed hatred toward black people. authorities are investigating the shooting za za -- as a possible hate crime. >> people are asking if you're not safe at church where are you safe? that's being asked around the county. katherine scott is live with more on how local churches are increasing security. >> reporter: security is a challenge for churches. they want knew members but there's a danger associated with that. a lot of churches like this one in west philadelphia have beefed up security, some measures are noticeable some not. thousands of people come through the doors each month at west philadelphia calvary baptist church. >> we must open the door and

accept people in, the difficulty is that some of the same people because of their belief systems may come to do hard. >> reporter: security is part of today's reality even in a house of worship. in the recent years they enhanced security measures. >> we have rotating security, but we have people who are trained in security systems. >> reporter: surveillance cameras are posted around the building. trained staff members or volunteers many of whom have military backgrounds or currently work in law enforcement. >> the whole concept is to get new faces to come in, which is different than how you would secure a building or business or church. >> reporter: church leaders say it's difficult to eliminate the risk entirely, but being aware could make the difference.

mostly dry at this point. >> thank you matt. police in allentown say a guy crashed his van into a fence at a playground injuring an 11-year-old boy at stevens park. police say the driver was trying to make a turn when he hit the fence, a piece of the fence hit the boy who suffered minor injuries. witnesses say he had a 6 pack of beer in his hands when he got out of van. police have not indicated whether alcohol was a factor in the crash. prosecutors in the colorado shooting trial is set to wrap up their case they will call ashly mosser to the stand she was paralyzed and suffered a miscarriage and her 6-year-old daughter was killed in the 20123 shooting. attorneys will limit mosser's testimony because the details are so heart wrenching and emotional. the remnants of tropical storm bill focused most of of
