starting off on a nice note. lots of sunshine out there. it was a perfect day today to be down at the shore. folks packed the beaches here in sea isle city. the ocean is still cold but that didn't keep folks from taking a bit of a swim. accuweather, though, says a bit of bad news. we're going get a lot of rain during the second half of the weekend right in time for father's day unfortunately. meteorologist melissa magee here to talk about a flood watch as a matter of fact. melissa. >> yeah, that's right, monica. as we get into the second half of our weekend we are tracking what will be the remnants of bill working their way eastward but outside currently it's not too bad. in fact its a warmer afternoon than it was the same time yesterday. the heat index currently in philadelphia coming in at 88. 92 in washington d.c. and 93 in richmond, virginia but cooler air off to the north and west. here's storm tracker6 live double scan raid darn you are noticing some spotty showers just to the north of philadelphia. starting to press on through and this will be the case for the rest of the evening hours. but i want to widen out the picture here because what we are tracking is what will be

what's left of bill. you can see showers and storms currently across the midwest and the ohio valley. all of this tropical moisture will be working its way eastward just in time for the second half of our weekend. so, future tracker six showing you it's really late saturday night overnight into the first half of the day on sunday that we will be tracking those tropical downpours overhead. so, with that said the national weather service has issued a flood watch. it goes up at saturday evening lasting right through sunday evening, possible flooding. that's a big concern as we head into sunday especially for dad on father's day. we're going have more details on that, monica, coming up with the full and exclusive accuweather forecast and let you know how much rain is on the way when i come back inside. >> sounds good. thank you so much. school is out and now the pools are opening. these kids were busy splashing around. the pool is the first of four parks and recreation pools opening just in time for the start of summer. all 70 city pools will be opened by july 1st. >> looks like the place to be.

the 2015 fire fly musikfest value is well under way and for the first time ever the four day event is sold out. 90,000 people are expected to film the campgrounds in dover, delaware. "action news" reporter chad pradelli was there for all of the action. >> reporter: fire fly is in full effect. people of all ages are having a great time enjoying some good music and praying mother nature will be kind. >> ♪♪ >> reporter: the fire fly festival is rocking dover. [cheers and applause] >> reporter: 90,000 people packed the woodlands to catch their favorite band on more than a half dozen stages. this year fire fly did not allow single day passes. you had to buy a four day pass. many began camping out on wednesday night and during the rain but still having a good time. >> i've never camped out at an event before. that makes it just that it's so many days and so many cool people here that's what makes it so much fun. >> a lot of space out here. in the camps we're compacted.

weather conditions for your exact location plus the hourly forecast to help you plan out your day and be sure to follow our team of meteorologists on facebook and twitter. >> 30 people were injured when a cruise ship crashed into a wall in upstate new york t it happened last night as the ship was entering a lock in the saint lawrence sea way. more than 270 passengers and crew were on board headed from montreal to toronto. 30 were injured many taken to the hospital. they are all expected to be okay. crews are now trying to figure out what to do with the ship which is still sitting stuck and damaged in that lock. well, the search for two convicted murderers who escaped from a prison in upstate new york is about to reach its third week. david sweat and richard matt have been put on the u.s. marshals most wanted list. officials are checking camp sites and abandoned buildings asking anyone who lives in that area to please check surveillance footage. wanted posters are being handled out at the canadian

and mexican borders. >> philadelphia police made an arrest after a break in this morning in mantua. police were called to the 3200 block of wallace street before 4 a.m. investigators say there was an altercation on the street after the break in and that left a woman hurt. she was taken to the hospital to be checked out. police in north philadelphia are looking for the man who broke into a market by pulling an air conditioner out of the window. it happened one week ago at the carolina market on the 2600 block of west lehigh avenue. well, once inside, the thief grabbed $2,000 in cash as well as 10 car tons of cigarettes. police are asking anyone with information to give them a call. >> amazon is selling celebrating its continuing success at one of its newest fulfillment centers in mercer county, new jersey. the company uses innovative technologies including robotics to run its huge operation. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic saw firsthand today how it works. >> reporter: this is the amazon fulfillment center in

rob onesville. inside this cavernous building the size of 59 football fields is a maze of moving parts that work almost around the clock to pick and pack items once you click the buy button online. >> ship thousands of products a day through 14 miles of conveyers over one points 2 million square feet and just as you can see behind me just a great operation. >> the facility that amazon has in the world and we're really excited about that. it's been a great ratable. >> reporter: amazon pays over a million dollars a year in property taxes. over 2500 people are employed at this facility and amazon is still hiring. but in addition to the people power here, this giant warehouse is extremely high tech. in an intricate dance and without crashing into each other hundreds of these orange robots are constantly moving sets of tall yellow shelves throughout the warehouse delivering orders to the workers who sort and pack them. >> the robots drive the shelves to the associates so the associates can pick the items.

when our system knows the proper item has been picked that robot drives away and the next shelf drives up. >> reporter: it's almost looks like ballet. >> you can reach 130 million people on a tank of gas. i think that's why amazon is here andy. >> reporter: employees work 10 hour shifts four days a week. >> they get decent benefits, they give them college education dollars and there's also tremendous room in the inn a company like this for promotions. >> reporter: a bus route called the z line was created to give job opportunities to inner city residents. after almost a year of operations here amazon is clearly happy with how things are going. the company plans to open another fulfillment center like this in north jersey. in robbinsville, i'm nora muchanic, channel6 "action news"." >> pretty cool. >> time now for the "action news" traffic report. >> all right, let's swing it over to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center and see where the trouble spots are. >> hey, matt. >> speaking of amazon a little bit of a jungle on the roadways as you head home or maybe down the shore. we're seeing lots of traffic in south philadelphia headed towards the walt whitman bridge. the traffic remains slow across the bridge onto 42 and

then southbound starts to break up here by creek road but a little slow again as you pass 55 headed do you know towards the a.c. expressway. 295 southbound basically heavy from 73 on down to 42 with a crash in the mix near warwick road. you can get by it but speeds are in the 20's. closer to the shore points on the garden state parkway southbound you still have a 4-mile parking lot headed towards an accident scene approaching wildwood. that crash hours later is still taking out the right lane. back here in center city, accident involving a new jersey transit bus trying to make the turn from broad street to the eastbound local vine. you can see the restrictions resulting from the bus accident. on the schuylkill expressway just a really busy summer time friday afternoon in both directions. no accidents no lane restrictions, everything is opened but it's crowded. still have that crash in east norriton closing germantown pike. use main street or ridge pike as an alternate around that. let's end with good news. lower southampton bucks county today they opened the brand new shiny round about at 213

for blaine. >> it's not only a way to get fit but also a way to help app great cause and honor a local star athlete who lost her life. health reporter registered nurse ali gorman is at the big board with the story. hi ali. >> lie, guys. this is a story about turning tragedy into something positive. blaine's parents tell me she was all about fitness and living healthy so she would have loved this challenge. >> blaine was just full of life and full of energy. >> blaine steinberg was also a tremendous athlete and a leader on and off the field. she played soccer and lacrosse at penn charter and was recruited for lacrosse to dartmouth. >> she was tremendously into fitness and worked at it. >> but her work was cut short. her parents tell me 15 months ago when blaine was 20, she died suddenly from an undetected rare autoimmune illness. >> it's pretty much a parent's worst nightmare to get the call that we got that night. >> thanks to a friend's idea blaine's spirit lives on.

showers and storms across the region. you do notice a little bit of activity to the north and west also moisture pressing into dover. i want to focus your attention on the shower just to the north of philadelphia. so storm tracker6 live double scan street level showing you a moderate pocket of some heavy rainfall across this region mainly across areas in new jersey so in palmyra along route 130, also as you travel eastbound into rancocas also along route 38 here that rain looks to be picking up in intensity especially if you're north of mount laurel. now we'll swing you out across our northern and western suburbs down across berks and lancaster counties, we're dealing with that moisture right along 322 or 222, i should say and right along i176 as well. it's passing to the south and east womelsdorf. allow for a pop-up shower or thunderstorm. pretty sticky today. 87 in philadelphia. 83 in allentown along the coast in sea isle city.

western lancaster 83. satellite6 along with action radar shows you it's pretty quiet with the exception of pop-up showers and storms but this will be the focus of our weather as we head into our weekend, this counterclockwise wrote taillights this will be the remnants of bill as we get into late saturday and into sunday and all of this moisture coming out of the ohio valley in the midwest will be tracking eastward just in time for the second half of our weekend. so as you notice those clouds are starting to stream in in advance of the moisture off across the midwest so the weekend kickoff tomorrow, the city to the shore, the poconos, 83 turning cloudy early in the day tomorrow in philadelphia. at the shore an afternoon shower is likely with a high temperature of 76. and 70 at the poconos with a scattered shower or a storm. here's future tracker six. we'll time out the precipitation store you. it's mostly cloudily during the day and as we get into the afternoon hours we'll track that moisture west of philadelphia and some of these showers and storms could be on the strong side. by tomorrow but we'll have to wait for the majority of that rain to come in overnight

in one philadelphia neighborhood after a massive water main break flooded several stores and vehicles. and an accused thief suspect in there a delaware robbery is behind bars now and summer season officially under way in philadelphia and area communities have opened their public pools. >> now the details. the cleanup continues at a philadelphia shopping center hit hard when a water main ruptured underground. it flooded the parking lot and several surrounding streets. it happened in the hunting park section. it happened at fox street and roberts avenue yesterday afternoon and it's deja vu for the business there is as a different water main flooded the same area last year. >> we came in, towed clean up, wewe had to pick up boxes and stuff. >> the push to get back to normal is under way for businesses overpowered by fast moving waters. a 48-inch water main break in this hunting park shopping plaza thursday sent customers and employees running for higher ground.

>> it was crazy. it was real hectic. >> firefighters were even called in to rescue people trapped by the rising waters. taylor is an employee at hair buzz. they came in early to clean up and get the store opened today. >> we just had to wipe -- like use windex and stuff and wipe stuff off use paper towels and mop the floors. >> they were able to reopen and so was the shop rite but many of the other businesses like the wine and spirit store, the dollar store and the ross are all still closed. got the look clothing store took a significant hit. it has now hired professionals to come in and soak up the water. air moves and dehumidifiers are all over the building. customers showing up in hopes of shopping unfortunately were turned away. >> that's what we came for. >> yeah, i guess it did affect a lot of them because we were coming for here and the new store, the got the look that was here. >> they'reed. >> they're closed, yeah. so that kind of put a damper

on our plans. >> no word yet on when the businesses will reopen and yesterday's water main break in hunting park is just one in a string of incidents that has plagued philadelphia neighborhoods in recent weeks. coming up in the next half hour, john rawlins will take a look at the aging infrastructure underneath the city and what's being done to preventer costly water main breaks in the future. >> a woman's body was found in the rubble of an early morning fire in that philadelphia's germantown section this the scene in the 5600 block of lloyd street about 1 a.m. smoke and fire poured from the windows and roof. officials say the entire house was filled with debris making it extremely difficult to fight the flames and even walk through the home. it took them about 45 minutes to get a handle on this situation. then this afternoon a female victim between the ages of 30 and 50 was also found in the home. it's not clear if she died because of the fire or from some other cause and the cause of the fire is under investigation. the sister of a philadelphia police officer

killed by an intellectually disabled man says the decision not to execute him for that killing is excruciating to her. daniel boil's sister told a north dakota newspaper that the pennsylvania supreme court ruling is unfair and injust. on tuesday the high court upheld a lower court decision that 52-year-old edward bracey's iq of only 74 makes him ineligible for the death penalty. bracey did shoot 21-year-old boyle eight times back in 1991. he is now serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. from our delaware news room police say they've caught the florida and who robbed a mexican restaurant in bear delaware. they say 21-year-old marco medina acosta held up the restaurant on pulaski highway in bear last month. they say they also searched his apartment and ailed let mely found evidence linking him to the crime. he's in jail after he could not post $55,000 bail. rehoboth city commissioners are expected to vote friday on whether to ban

the use of pools and who the tubs at rental properties in the city. if approved it would require owners of the rental properties to cover and lock pools and hot tubs while the property is occupied by vacationers. the proposal stems from an increase of noise complaints around the popular beach community. however, those who oppose the ban say it will drive away visitors and greatly impact businesses who depend on the summer season's big profits. one place where swimming is absolutely encouraged is at the dozens of area public pools. they started welcoming visitors today. "action news" reporter eva pilgrim has more from the recreation center in fairmount park tonight. >> reporter: school is officially out and that means it's go time for the city's pools. these kids wasted no time jumping right in. the wait is over at the rec center in fairmount park. >> three two one. >> i like swimming.

i can have fun with my friends and all that. >> i'm glad it's cold 'cause it is like a hundred degrees here. >> i like to put my head under the water. >> reporter: today the first four philadelphia city pools opened up. by july 1st, all 70's pools will be opened. the summer programs and pools create about 800 jobs. while it's mostly fun, there are some rules. >> you have to wear bathing suits. that's our requirement. that's a sanitary thing for our pools. >> reporter: in norristown at the george washington carver community center. >> they've had to culley actually jackhammer the fiberglass off of the pool. >> reporter: the final preparations are being made. >> it was closed last year because the repairs were so dramatic that it could not be repaired. >> reporter: tomorrow this historic pool will reopen thanks to an anonymous $80,000 donation. the fun f-the laughs and the water, this is what the kids look forward to.

>> go swimming. >> like every day. >> 'cause it's hot outside and i can't take it no more: i'm just burning up. >> reporter: the city has made a few changes and updates to the pool this year. they're using liquid chlorine and after a few kids were shocked last year they inspected and improved the electrical systems at every pool in the city to ensure that doesn't happen again. in fairmount park, eva pilgrim, channel6 "action news." >> new funding means some more summer jobs for teens in the keystone state. today in center city state senator vincent hughes and the governor's chief of staff katie mcginty announced seven and a half million dollars in new money to create 3,700 new summer jobs statewide. now, half the monies from the federal government, half from the workforce investment board. the pilot program is focusing on low income high poverty neighborhoods. >> new jobs always good news. let's see if there's any good news on the roads. >> well, we'd like that. >> we know to keep the expectations nice and low in the summer time friday

afternoon, right. as long as you do that you're going to be fine as you head home. it has been problematic in a lot of spots like right here on the vine street expressway westbound side camera is a little shaky i know but right here by the ben franklin parkway there was a crash until just a minute ago. it just cleared out but still heavy as you come away from 95. this is the local vine in the same neck of the woods eastbound side, this bus got stuck here on the median barrier so the ramp from the eastbound side of the local vine to the eastbound side of the expressway is blocked because of this accident and the rain is coming down here, too as you can see. earlier accidents on 95 are both gone but it's still heavy especially through south philadelphia headed to the new kids on the block concert and the phils game this evening. and of course the arts festival in manayunk is going to close main street all weekend long. this is 422, nice and sunny out here but slow westbound as it always is and on the eastbound side of 422 in pottstown, watch out tonight into tomorrow, they're setting up a new traffic pattern. meanwhile down the shore a 4-mile jam on the southbound garden state parkway still has

>> police in london are investigating whether a body found on a rooftop is linked to a stowaway discovered in the undercarriage avenue british airlines plane much the flight was from south africa. the stowaway who survived is listed in serious condition at the hospital. there is no link yet between the stowaway and the person found on the roof.

but police say the rooftop where the man was found is in the flight path of the plane. a vigil will be held tonight to honor the police officer shot and killed in cincinnati ohio. the police chief says officer sunny kim was shot after responding to a 911 call this morning. there were reports of someone acting erratically with a gun. the suspect and the responding officers then were involved in a shootout. both the suspect and kim were killed. kim is a 27 year veteran and the faster three boys. >> the search for a former white house executive chef is in its sixth day. walter shine was reported missing on saturday after he did not return from a hiking trip. police have found his vehicle but they say recent bad weather could be washing away other clues. the largest wildfire california has seen this year

it feels like 84 in allentown. 90 degrees the current heat index there in beach haven. here's satellite6 along with action radar. lots of clouds streaming across much of the midatlantic region with this front dipping to our south. now you focus your attention off to the west because we're tracking this counterclockwise rotation here. this is what's left or what will be left of tropical storm bill, the remnants of bill now currently moving into the midwest and the ohio valley. and this moisture will be working its way eastward as we get into the second half of our weekend. so, future tracker six has you covered. saturday 8 o'clock in the morning it's a mostly cloudy start to the day and with so much building moisture, there could be a pop-up shower or thunderstorm overhead. it does look like by saturday afternoon 4 o'clock west of philadelphia there could be some strong showers and storms setting up across allentown on south and westward into lancaster. but we'll await the arrival that tropical moisture overnight saturday and into sunday. future tracker six showing you a good soaking on the way by then which is why we have that
