two police officers and a passer by pulled the man out of the river. he was rushed to the area hospital. his vehicle was pulled out of the water a little later. >> new information about a block party shooting that injured at least 9 people in west philadelphia including a toddler and two children. police say a large groomed gathered along ogden street when someone opened fire from down the block a year old girl and two boys were hit 11 and 12. >> they randomly fired down the street and hit whoever was in the way. >> police think the suspects used a shot gun an drove down the street and fired more shots this time using a handgun. investigators are looking for a gold or silver four door sedan. all of the victims including the children are in stable condition. the search continues for

another gunman after a man was shot in the head and killed in the city mantua section. a man in his 20s was shot in the head. medics rushed him to penn presbyterian medical center where he died. no arrests have been mailed. church congregations from south carolina to south philadelphia, today was about coming together to mourn and to heal. that was especially true at mt. enon church. reverend pinkney was scheduled to speak to the congregation during a visit to philadelphia next month. instead he and 8 others were gunned down at the ame emanuel church on wednesday. love over hate and good over evil. those are the messages that rang out in song and prayer as the

prostate cancer. thousands of runners and walkers many with colorful team shirts showed up despite the soggy and sticky conditions all to raise money and awareness for the foundation of breast and prostate health. >> we are here to support my father he had prostate cancer, he is a survivor. >> reporter: participants said they were proud to support the cause so loved by gary pappa who lost his battle with prostate cashes in june 2009. >> he was a unique communicator with passion and intelligence and engagement. people fell in love with him. >> reporter: and our fundraising efforts are not over, you can still donate at the ebb website -- website gary pappa run.com, we have exceeded our

east syndrome disease has claimed another life. to combat the spread, dna tests will be carried out on anybody with severe respiratory illness. the most recent outbreak has killed 25 people in south korea. the birth rate in america is on the rise and you may be surprised to hear whose expecting. overall birth rate increased a full percentage rate women in their 30s and 40s are driving the trend. it's the first increase in seven years despite the fact that teen births fell to their lowest levels which was down two-thirds from a peak in the early 90s. there's a silent killer that can affect adults and kids who swim. it's called shallow water

>> happening right now on "action news," residents in southern new york are being told to stay alert after possible sightings of the two escaped inmates near the pennsylvania border. police in south jersey are investigating an armed holdup at a hotel and it could be connected to other robberies in the area. >> police in new orleans tracked down the man who was in the back of a police cruiser who somehow managed to shoot and kill a louisiana cop. >> those stories but first let's go outside to chris sowers >> reporter: good afternoon nydia, eva summer arrives officially in 8 minutes, this is the longest day of the year, shortest night of the year, we are expecting 15 hours worth of daylight today.

from west to east. it will be the northwestern suburbs that will see it first sliding into the city by 7:00 p.m. those of who see it could be drenching downpours and gusty winds. we'll talk about the seven-day forecast in just a bit. >> homicide detectives are questioning a security guard who killed a customer outside a bar in olney at 5th and fisher. the guard removed the patron following an altercation around 2:30. the guard told police he shot the man once in the head after he threatened him with the bottle on the sidewalk. police say no charges will be filed until they figure out what happened. police are investigating another deadly shooting involving an employee of a philadelphia bar at the johnny ace place in north philadelphia. the bar teshed shot a

customer -- bartender shot a customer following an argument at 2:00 a.m. they are not sure if it happened inside or outside the bar. the man was pronounced dead. police have not said if the bartender was arrest. police in south jersey are trying to figure out if a holdup at a hotel is connected to other robberies. it happened at the travel lodge bayside along the black horse pike. police know the suspect was armed with an automatic handgun but not sure what was taken. investigators are working to see if the holdup is connected to a string of others. back in philadelphia, police are looking for four men involved in a violent home invasion last night. the action cam was along the 5300 block of hagger man street in tacony. the suspects broke interest a home and pistol whipped two people inside. the men stole cell phones and

electronics. the victims were treated at the hospital. the suspects are at large. police in new orleans nabbed the man suspected of killing a police officer. authorities took travis boyd into custody. else accused of shooting officer halloway who was take him to jail when it happened. police say they are still trying to figure out how he managed to get a gun they do not think he used the officer's gun. this sunday not only marks father's day it marks the first sunday worship service since 9 people were gunned down in charleston, south carolina. tomorrow the first african methodist episcopal church in the country paid tribute to say those lost last week. in addition to local parishners, 50 people from south carolina

murdered by dylann roof who is being held on a 1 million-dollar bonds. calls have been made to remove a confederate flag from the state house a republican state legislator said he will move the flag to a state confederate military museum. it's not just a symbol of hate, but a symbol of pride in one's hatred. >> one person is dead and nine others hurt after a block party shooting on a basketball court. one was killed, one is in critical condition and the others listed as serious. there were families with small children at the party no kids were hurt. at this point there's no word on motive and no arrests have been made. the man hunt for the two convicted killers in new york has shifted after possible sightings near the pennsylvania border. authorities are scouring allegheny county 350 miles from
