with the latest, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tam two men were injured in all this, one of them actually walked out of the hospital with an officer and got into a police car, both men were in stable condition, one of them drove to the hospital in the car that was shot out, and you can see that vehicle is parked outside of hanheman's emergency room right now. there are bullet holes in the vehicle. there's one in the windshield and one in the drivers side door, the driver's window was shot out. this happened a11th street near west styles in north philadelphia arnltdz -- around # a.m. police say someone shot bullets into the car. one man got out and ran to his home, a woman drove him to the hospital. the other man drove himself to the hospital in the shot-out car. they know that one carr -- car is here your -- correspond --

cordoned off. we're live at hanheman, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> we're following a developing story police are investigating a murder in the northeast section of philadelphia. gurn -- gunfire erupted along scatter good street. police tell "action news" a 21-year-old man was shot and pronounced dead a short time later. no word on who murder murdered or gunned down the victim. >> police officers saved a man's life before a freight train smashed into his car. the elderly driver was trying to make a turn when his car got stuck on the railroad trackings. two police officers got him out just before the train hit. the officers are okay him the force of the crash pushed the

car 100 feet. 5:34, the search goes on for a gunman who opened fire at a west philadelphia block party it happened at 41st and ogden our man waited until it was dark to walk up to the party. they sprayed the crowd with pellets and injured ten people including an 11, 12-year-old and 18-month-old. >> we came to the door when we heard the shots. we saw everybody running. >> police say the shotgun pellets used in the shooting are meant for hunters. investigators believe the shooting was in retaliation for a fight earlier in the week. >> the tragic and brutal killing of nine people in the historic black church in north carolina has reignited an age old debate about the confederate

continues to investigate a manifesto reportedly written by the suspected gunman 21-year-old dylann roof. "good morning america" will have more on the latest out of charleston, south carolina after "action news." >> a dell indication of city -- a delegation of city and church leaders arrived in rome this morning. they will be meeting with the vatican police and the pope security forces. business leaders and archdiocese personnel will be meeting with their vatican counterparts. the world meeting of families is september 22. the pope arrives on the 26th. brian taff is in rome for the final meetings ahead of the pope's visit to philadelphia. his live reports from roam will start today on "action news," he'll be reporting there through thursday. and you can follow brian's trip and get the latest updates about the pope's upcoming visit by following pope on twitter. i tweeted that out, as well.

beloved former white house chef. walter shibe went hiking in the mountains, he never came home. he served as white house chef under bill clinton and george w.bush. his family told investigators that the 61-year-old was in good shape, but an amateur hiker. he was found two miles from the car. there's no word on what killed the chef. of. the search for the two fugitives in new york has shifted again this time to an area west of the prison from which they escaped. hundreds of law enforcement officers are combing parts of western new york for richard matt and david sweat after several reported sightings someone who lives near friendship new york reported two men asking for help getting out of town. they are describing the information as unconfirmed, but credible. a passer by's camera was rolling seconds after this man

she was arrested and charges for disobeying warnings signs and barricades. lightning may have caused a fire at a south dakota apartment building. a passer by pulled people out of the buildings. they raced toward the building and searched for pets or people who remember trapped. the damage from the fire resulted in partial roof collapse. one person was taken to the hospital for smoke. a local man celebrates father's day for the gift he gave to somebody else. >> the dramatic rescue that was caught on tape that took 20 hours to complete inside a cave. we'll be right back.

>> new on "action news" the hunt is on for pa -- a man who opened fire inside a walmart in georgia. according to a police report, employees told the man to empty his pockets shortly after that the suspect pulled the weapon out of a brown bag. the surveillance video shows the suspect point the gun at a walmart employee and fire and runaway. nobody was hurt. detroit police chief said he is getting no help from neighborhood residents and left a teen dead and dozen injured. police are looking for two men who exchanged gunfire with the victim. police say it was a retaliation
