lothing. we know that police did arrive to the scene initially and only saw three victims. they actually accident happened those victims put them in police cruisers and transported those victims to temple hospital. i'm told all three did suffer gun shots wounds. take a look at this video. this will give you a better look at the scene at the end of the block that is still very active at this point. we see a lot of white shirts. this is the 26th district but detectives are also on scene. when police got to the end of the block that's when they discovered four more people that they were grazed possibly by bullets and they were taken to hahnemann hospital. among three of them, those are the three adults taken to hahnemann and that one little girl was taken to saint christopher's hospital. back out here live you can still see it is an active scene. this whole area is cordoned off. a lot of neighbors can't get back to good homes. we're waiting to find out details. we know a weapon was recovered. whether or not it was the weapon that was used we don't know at this point. we're told that a shot gun was

used in this case. one thing we do want to let you know is that in the case of using a shot gun we don't know exactly what type of bullets, what type of projectiles they used. in some cases there is a bird shot that is used. that's something where there's nine to 11 pellets in one casing and that is a lot of time why you hear about these mass injuries that happen in these shootings. those pellets can spray an area. we're still waiting to find out if that is the case here. that was the case over the weekend in west philadelphia but again we're still waiting to learn more from police. east detectives are on the scene already we've seen them in a number of stores in the area trying to look for surveillance video as they piece together this crime as well. also we know that one person is still on the loose that police are currently looking for so they do not have the alleged gunman in custody. for now live in kensington, annie mccormack channel6 "action news." >> we'll continue to follow this. this shooting happening less than 48 hours after 10 people were shot at a west

philadelphia block party. detectives believe two gunmen opened fire from the corner of 41st and ogden just before 10:00 on saturday night. at least one was armed with a shot gun. an 18 month old girl and two boys were among the wounded. but they are now out of the hospital and police are still looking for the suspects. >> bottled water recall involving several brands include something big name supermarkets. >> that water all came from the same supplier. sarah bloomquist is live at the acme in bala cynwyd. sarah this recall is fair physical limited but everyone trying to be very cautious here. >> reporter: eva and alicia that's right. acme is among a handful of stores in our area to voluntarily pull the affected water off of store shelves over this past weekend. they went beyond the recall and pulled additional brands. this was a voluntary recall. at this point nobody has become sick. there are no reports of anybody falling ill but this was a voluntary recall out of

an abundance of caution after multiple samples tested positive for e. coli at the spring water source. at the acme in bala cynwyd shoppers were just beginning to hear of the bottled water recall this afternoon. >> a little scary. kind of scary. makes you worried on what you're drinking. what are we drinking. >> i'm very concerned about what's going on in the world with our foods and with our drinking water and so on and so forth. >> reporter: niagara water purchased the spring water from far away springs in auburn schuylkill county. it was then bottled at niagara facilities in hamburg berks county or upper macungie lehigh county between june 10th and june 18th. routine testing at far away springs found multiple samples indicating the presence of e. coli in the water. the bottled water was treated but not at a dep permitted treatment facility. so stores voluntarily recalled the water over the weekend.

adam joseph standing out there in that heat for us this afternoon for our first look at the accuweather forecast and some talk of storms. >> yeah, the threat of storms will come tomorrow afternoon but how appropriate that the first full day of summer is certainly feeling like it with temperatures near 90 degrees. in fact, philadelphia the last hour we were at 89 degrees. we did hit 90 about an hour ago but let's just say the more extreme heat is to our south in charlotte 99, nashville 92, charleston south carolina 96 degrees. down the pike in richmond it is 95. today it is a dry heat. it's hot but it's dry. tomorrow that humidity will spike along with the heat, so a heat advisory will go into that effects tomorrow at 11 o'clock in the morning and linger through 6:00 p.m. for all the areas and towns highlighted in orange. it just means that the heat index will be dangerous tomorrow and nearing 100 degrees. in addition to that, we are tracking a storm that is pushing through the great lakes right now bringing quite a lot of severe weather

on the same spanish steps one of the most legendary urban landmarks anywhere in the world. it spans 135 steps all the way from the top all the way to the bottom. they're incredibly steep steps and frankly it's kind of an apt metaphor for the planning process for waiting for pope francis' arrival in philadelphia. so with that in mind the planners arrived back here in rome today with the hopes of making sure the event not only goes off without a hitch but that it's also memorable and meaningful. those are two words that really resonate with mayor michael nutter. when you look at your role here and you think when the history books are written this iconic figure at this turning point for the church and your name is right there next to it talk about the pressure and the pride that comes with that. >> being involved with any of them that has pope francis being a part of it there's an enormous amount of pride at a personal and professional level but it is of course a window into how serious things

miles from that prison where richard matt and david sweat escaped. investigators found dna matches from both men at a remote hunting cabin. the samples came from food left behind by the fugitives. >> the debate is rage dag in south carolina over the confederate flag and whether it should fly at all in the wake of last week's deadly church shooting. republican governor nikki haley is holding a news conference right now. she says she wants the flag taken down. now over the weekend thousands of people came together for peaceful demonstrations. emmanuel ame church packed. roll lips and political leaders are organizing a rally for tomorrow calling for the removal of the confederate battle flag from the state capitol. now south carolina law requires a two-thirds majority in both houses of the state legislature before that flag can come down. >> apple has agreed to pay royal tease toroyalties to musicians

bragging rights, of course. >> perfect weather to be on the golf course today. >> yeah, today. i think things are about to change. getting hot. time for the accuweather forecast. >> let's head to adam joseph. >> yes, it is getting hot. up to this point in the year we see six days of 90 degrees or above. today we hit 90 degrees for the seventh day this year we're pretty average. we're way behind the normal and this year it looks like we'll be around normal which is in the upper 20's by the end of the summer. as we take a look at your temperatures, 88 wilmington, 89 right now in philadelphia so we've backed off from that high of 90 so far. 86 in allentown. we have a direct westerly wind so you can see the shore no sea breeze this afternoon. temperatures there in the upper 80's. but the humidity is in check today. it's not that bad this afternoon. but tonight it will be turning more humid each and every hour as we go deeper into the overnight with a few patchy clouds. upper 60's north of town, 74

philadelphia and to the south at the shore a muggy 70 to 72 degrees. then tomorrow afternoon, this is when the heat will really spike along with the humidity inhappened locates right along i-95 interior southern new jersey, most of delaware it will feel close to 100 degrees tomorrow with the combination of that air temperature and the humidity. 95 to a hundred in the lehigh valley and the same for the shore and also cape may county. we had a massive complex that passed through chicago and the southern great lakes earlier this morning really rocking severe weather through there. it has somewhat fallen apart but this is just a piece of some energy that's going to pass through here tomorrow afternoon. so, with the heat and humidity at 2 o'clock we'll start to see a couple of pop-ups that develop. it doesn't look like we're going to have a solid line we'll be tracking but it will try to pull together around the 4 o'clock hour right along i-95 so this time tomorrow we could see some very strong, if not a couple of severe storms pass through and then it pushes off the coast by around 7 o'clock. so the window tomorrow is

anywhere between about 1:00 to 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. the biggest threat tomorrow will be the tremendous lightning along with some torrential downpours moderate risk for some strong winds and large hail and right now because the winds and the atmosphere really don't turn all that much or doesn't look like it will tomorrow we'll keep the tornado risk on the low side. as we look at the four day at 4:00 forecast it's very hot and humid tomorrow with strong to severe storms. 95 feeling like 100 degrees and then a beautiful wednesday. once that front pulls off the coast the humidity drops, full sunshine, 86 degrees midweek. and then clouds will build for the parade of sails for the tall ships coming to town thundershowers afternoon. could be a couple evening showers. hopefully they'll hold off until the end cools off at 84 degrees and a lot of showers on friday with a temperature of 81 and the weekend right now eh, we'll see that in the seven-day forecast. >> for now we'll just get through tomorrow focus on that nice wednesday. adam thanks. >> yeah.

>> we're working to learn the name of the woman who died this morning after she was hit by a train in burlington county. chopper six was over the tracks in bordentown near prince street and west park street. the accident happened around 6:15 this morning which shut down nj transit's light rail line for part of the morning rush. investigators have not said how this happened. >> one man is dead after an early morning shooting in northeast philadelphia. it happened just after 1:00 a.m. on the 1700 block of scatter good street. police say they found the 21-year-old victim lying between two parked cars. he died at the scene a short time later. police have not told us his name. they also say they don't know who killed him or why. >> still ahead, we are live at hahnemann hospital with an update on some of the seven people shot in kensington. >> from horror to terrorism. a new jersey senior citizen is alive thanks to two off duty cops. what they did when they saw him sitting in the path of

rushed to hahnemann university hospital in university city. that's where we find registered nurse and health reporter ali gorman. ali. guys we're still waiting for more information about this but as you said three people were taken here to hahnemann university hospital. some police sources say the three people suffered graze wounds. now, the shooting happened around 2:30 in the afternoon on the 700 block of east hilton street in kensington. three other people suffered gun shot wounds. they were taken by police cruisers rushed to temple university hospital and as annie mccorm mark had said earlier one child an 11-year-old child was injured and was taken to saint christopher's hospital. so, right now we are still working to learn the extent of the injuries at this time. we're waiting to learn more from the hospital. also waiting to learn more from the police. police do continue to investigate this crime scene. we'll continue to follow this story and we will bring you

the latest as it becomes available. so right now we are live outside hahnemann university hospital. ali gorman channel6 "action news." >> all right, ali, thank you. a new jersey senior citizen is alive right now thanks to the quick actions of some off duty officers. you're looking at the moment a 76-year-old man's ford escaped was launched off the tracks by a speeding train in delaware last night. fortunately that car was empty at the time. and it's all because of two newark cops. "action news" reporter chad pradelli talked to one of the dozens of people who witnessed their heroic actions and he's live near the scene with their story. chad. >> reporter: hey, deldot calls this the most dangerous railroad crossing in the state and last night it proved so. right there, that's where the vehicle got stuck next to that stop sign there halfway on the tracks and halfway into the gravel and the driver, what he didn't know is a train was coming through.

the train hit the suv with such force it plowed the vehicle a quarter mile before finally coming to a stop. >> i was just like what's going on. i saw all the flashing lights and everyone crowded around and i winds over there right as the car got hit. >> reporter: liz was working at the deer park tavern when patrons and coworkers ran to the window. 76-year-old george kichline was stuck on the tracks. two off duty newark cops were working security detail at the. >> they ran up to the vehicle as soon as they realized what was happening and started talking to the driver. >> reporter: that's when the crossing gate began to drop and the warning alarm sounded. they pulled him from the vehicle just a few seconds before impact. >> he definitely looked in shock. >> reporter: he did? >> yes, yes. how can you not be after something like that. >> i don't have any idea at all why he did or how he ended up stuck on the gravel. >> reporter: kichline

on social media. >> right now police in new castle county are trying to figure out why a driver slammed into a house in hockessin. the action cam was right there as officers checked out the scene along the 1500 block of brackenville road around 1:00 this afternoon. police say the driver first hit a pole, then crashed into the side of the home. two people were inside at the time but they weren't hurt. the driver is now being treated at an area hospital. >> we now know the name of a south jersey teenager who was crushed to death in a freak accident this weekend. ocean county prosecutors say 17-year-old jared marchiano was found underneath a 650-pound stone slab saturday morning. the teenager was apparently walking between marble and granite at stone encounters in berkeley township at the time. they're trying to figure out why marchiano was at the business or how long he had been trapped. we're also learning more about a street fight near coney island that claimed the life of a north philadelphia

man early this morning. police in new york city say 51-year-old eric rivera was shot in the head just after midnight. they believe he was trying to break up a fight between two women at the time. detectives have few clues to go on but say they're looking for at least one gunman. police say rivera was in brooklyn visiting family this weekend. >> a major drug bust in delaware kept a lot of dangerous drugs from making their way into the firefly music festival this weekend. undercover officers say they caught two men with hundreds of doses of lsd bath salts and hallucinogenic mushrooms on friday. 31-year-old daniel wood and 39-year-old dion mcpherson of michigan are each being held on $100,000 bond. >> big names in music coming to atlantic city this summer including maroon five. the band will perform on the beach on august 16th. adam levine and crew will be joined by nick jonas. tickets go on sale tomorrow for american express card members. everyone else can buy them

back it off big time in the middle of the week on wednesday. as we look at double scan live radar all is quiet this afternoon. the first full day of summer lots of sunshine. it is hot but it's not all that humid but again that does change on your tuesday. we did hit 90 degrees in philadelphia the second day in a row. tomorrow we will at least hit 90 degrees so we get three consecutive days in a row. tomorrow would be the first heat wave officially in philadelphia for the year. right now we're at 89. 86 in the lehigh valley. 88 in wilmington. winds generally are westerly, so really no sea breeze kicking in. temperatures equally as warm at the shore in the upper 80's and that ocean very warm right now, not bad at 71 degrees. tonight we'll be in the upper 60's north and west for your low temperatures, 74 in the city just a few patchy clouds but it will turn more humid as we go deeper into the overnight. and with that increase in humidity late tonight and tomorrow, when you combine that with 90's, we will have a heat index in philadelphia

near 103 early tomorrow afternoon. could feel like 104 in wilmington, the same for millville and dover. cracking that century point also for trenton and lakehurst and even at the shore very little in relief from that heat and humidity. in combination that will be in place tomorrow afternoon and then we're tracking a cold front. you can see how quickly these storms pass through chicago north of there, north of cleveland. almost looking like a bow and arrow as it was stretched out. those are those powerful winds pushing these storms along at very strong speeds. now, most of that energy tomorrow will lift up into new england but we will catch the cold front as it slides through tomorrow afternoon so we will see some scattered very strong, some could turn to the severe side anywhere between about 2 o'clock in the afternoon to around 4 o'clock north and west of philadelphia. then sliding to the south and east off the coast during the latter afternoon and early evening hours as we dry out to the north and west. and as these storms pass through, again, it doesn't

>> ♪♪ >> "action news." delaware valley's leading news program. with jaime apody meteorologist cecily ily tynan rick williams and monica malpass. >> the big story on "action news." breaking in kensington police say five people have been shot and at least one of the victims is a child. we have team coverage on the shooting. let's go first to annie mccormack live near the scene. annie, what can you tell us. >> reporter: sharrie, that's a big update we just got from police and now five people are shot, down from seven. it does include an 11-year-old girl who suffered a graze wound. she is at saint christopher's hospital. well, take a look behind me. this is one of the bloody scenes here. you can see lawn chairs out here. police say a shot gun was used

and the shooter does remain on the loose. again, this is one of two scenes here in the 700 block of east hilton where the shooter opened fire. >> 3:30 p.m., it was a hot day, block was heavily occupied by adults and children. single perpetrator came onto the block male produced a firearm. discharged multiple times on the block. >> reporter: and again at least one of them is a child an 11-year-old girl. we are told that three of the victims were actually transported by police to temple. three more were taken to hahnemann. that includes an adult woman who suffered a graze wound and two were children who now we have learned are not injured. now, again the 11-year-old girl we're told is expected to be okay. again suffered a graze wound. we're told a gun was recovered along the block but police can't say yet at this point if that was in fact the gun that was used or if it was in fact a shot gun that they did discover today.
