d and the shooter does remain on the loose. again, this is one of two scenes here in the 700 block of east hilton where the shooter opened fire. >> 3:30 p.m., it was a hot day, block was heavily occupied by adults and children. single perpetrator came onto the block male produced a firearm. discharged multiple times on the block. >> reporter: and again at least one of them is a child an 11-year-old girl. we are told that three of the victims were actually transported by police to temple. three more were taken to hahnemann. that includes an adult woman who suffered a graze wound and two were children who now we have learned are not injured. now, again the 11-year-old girl we're told is expected to be okay. again suffered a graze wound. we're told a gun was recovered along the block but police can't say yet at this point if that was in fact the gun that was used or if it was in fact a shot gun that they did discover today.

now, back out here live you can see police here on the scene. a suspect description we're given is a black male stocky about 5-foot seven, 25 to 30 years old. we're told he had a black hand kerr cliffkerchief on. we'll bring you the latest on any updates as they become available. for now we're live in kensington annie mccormack. >> let's switch live to ali gorman live outside hahnemann university hospital where some of the victims were taken. ali. >> reporter: and three people were taken here to the hahnemann university hospital. we've since learned that police are telling that you say one is a woman who suffered a graze wound. we're told she's in stable condition. she was transported with her two children. police say that those children were unharmed. now, as for the others we do know that there are three other people that suffered gun shot wounds. they were rushed to temple university hospital. we are learning that two are in critical condition.

one is in stable condition. and another person the the child, a little girl an 11-year-old suffered a graze wound. she is at saint christopher's hospital as annie had mentioned, she is expected to be okay. back here live at hahnemann university hospital, we're still working to learn more of the details the extent of the injuries and police continue to investigate what happened. right now that's the latest that we have confirmed. we're live outside hahnemann university hospital. ali gorman channel6 "action news." >> thank you, ali. a teenaged girl says she was molested by a worker in a corner store in north philadelphia. police say they do have surveillance video showing the crime and that they know who they're looking for. allegedly this morning fondled and assaulted a 14-year-old girl visiting philadelphia from lancaster pa. >> you did right. little do you know you just saved a bunch of other little girls and i'm proud of you. do you understand me. >> reporter: a mother comforts her 14-year-old daughter who police say was sexually assaulted inside this corner store at 18th and huntington just after 9:00 this morning. she quickly ran to her under a's home and told her what happened. police were called immediately. detectives now have surveillance video of 30-year-old store employee putting his hand up the girl's skirt and an arrest warrant is forthcoming police say. i spoke with the victim's mother. we are protecting their identities. >> she said when she went to the refrigerator to try to get -- to get milk he was his knees looking under her skirtly he put his hand up her skirt. he put his hands in her panties. >> reporter: i spoke with the store owner who says the suspect has worked for him off

and on for some time. luciano gomez has seen this surveillance video. >> he touch. i just say oh, my god why he do that? i never know. >> i'm past angry. i'm beyond angry. i don't think there's a word to describe how i feel right now. >> reporter: at this hour police have still not released the name of this suspect. live in hunting park, vernon odom, channel6 "action news." >> vernon at least detectives know who they're looking for. meantime in northern new york items recovered from a remote hunting cabin have been linked to the convicted killers who escaped from prison. search crews had been focused on an area hundreds of miles across the state but now they're looking just miles from the maximum security prison where richard matt and david sweat escaped. investigators found dna matches from both men at a cabin that was broken into. authorities say the samples came from food that was left behind by the fugitives. the man who lashed a gyro

copter on the lawn of the u.s. capitol will go to trial. today douglas hughes rejected a plea deal that included jail advertisement hughes said he thought the punishment was too severe for an act of civil disobedience. hughes said his april 15th flight intended to call attention to the influence of big money in politics, he is due back in court next month. >> some of new castle county's finest officers were honored this afternoon. seven officers are recognized for outstanding work and service and promotions they're getting within the new castle county police department that includes lieutenant colonel matthew jim place son. jamison has not missed a dave work in 21 years. the philadelphia delegation is in rome italy for one last visit before the world meeting of families. "action news" anchor brian taff is there all week for us as they finalize details of pope francis' visit here in philadelphia in september. today brian talked with mayor michael nutter who is one of several city officials in rome for the meeting. and stay with "action news" for continuing coverage of the world meeting of families.

exactly double what it ideally should be. nothing in your way just some other traffic here along 76. on 422 westbound normal delays forming as well with speeds in the 20's and 30's. have a crash in valley forge national park along yellow springs road at library lane and one in east pikeland along 724 near harris hill road. a ya' in abington closing down woodland road. thompson road gets you around that. in doylestown ongoing emergency construction along 202 northbound at 611. that's been out there a couple weeks scheduled through this wednesday. now there's also a downed tree on 611 southbound just past 202 restricting traffic. and if you're out and about this afternoon in stanton delaware watch out for a wreck along route seven limestone road at jame way with normal southbound slowing on highway one. we'll check it again monica and sharrie in the next half hour. >> matt, thank you. there is still much more to come on "action news" at 5:00 including the latest on a the bottled water recall.

>> a fish that is native to the amazon was caught in a pond in south jersey. >> yeah, the rare catch was made in delran, burlington county. that's where we find "action news" reporter walter perez with the full story. hi, walter. >> reporter: hey guys, we'll give you a live look at where the whole thing happened. it's a really picturesque scene in this part of new jersey. this is swedes lake in delran a popular spot for boaters and for swimmers and fishermen. yesterday it was a local fisherman who pulled up something unusual. >> accident happened this thing up brought it up and we didn't know what kind of fish it was. >> reporter: ron rossi is talking about the catch he made yesterday during a fishing excursion with his family. frank rossi ron's son and fishing buddy says he couldn't

identify it either. >> i've never seen anything like that before in the lake. it was different. >> reporter: at first judging from its appearance they thought it was a piranha. after researching on the internet indications were that it's actually a south american fish called a papu. papu are related to piranha. while they have teeth as you can see they're not sharp. the rossis say that's how they confirmed the fish's identity. >> we did pull the bottom lip down the see what it looked like. they have almost human teeth and this is exactly what it looked like on the internet. >> reporter: the creation question is how did a fresh water fish from south america end up in a man-made lake in new jersey. state officials say the answer begins with people buying pacu from pet stores for their aquariums. a spokesperson from the dep sent "action news" a statement readingreading in part many times these fish are deposited into lake by pet owners. the fish do not survive in colder water so we encourage

contaminated with e. coli. well, it was bottled by niagara but sold under store brands including wegmans acme, shop rite, giant 7-eleven and even others. they were bottled between june 10th and the 18th. so far no one is sick and many stores have pulled the water from the shelves. but they want everyone to check to make sure that they don't have some of this at home. e. coli is a dangerous bacteria particularly for the very young and the very old and those with compromised immune systems. now, symptoms include nausea, vomiting, cramping and diarrhea and that's usually three to four days after being exposed. we have all the information that you need to know on these brands and also the lot numbers on our web site at 6abc.com. well millions of americans have had small wire cages implanted in heart arteries after chest pain but there's never been any study to show whether they prevent

heart attacks. federal experts are launching a trial to do that. they want no know whether the stents to cut heart attacks for people who suffer from chest pains and whether a combination of drugs can also do the same thing. also farmer's markets are a great place for fresh fruits and vegetables and for finding varieties that you won't see in supermarkets. but to make the most of those markets, dietitians suggest that you ask a few questions. like what is the item and how do i use it and where did it come from? vendors don't necessarily grow everything that they sell. do they use pesticides? that's another question and don't assume that all of the produce is organic. be sure to follow these safety tips including bagging the produce separately from meat and bring an inflated bag or cooler. finally do not buy perishable items at the market like meat or eggs unless they are properly chilled at that market. >> some makers coming to the breakfast cereal aisle.

>> time for accuweather at the "action news" big board. meteorologist adam joseph here. first full day of umer is and it is a steamy one. >> feels like it. it's appropriate today at 90 degrees so far is the high temperature. it's the seventh time this year in philadelphia we have hit that 90-degree mark. now, our average to this point in the year is six days, so we're pretty on par here for seeing that amount of 90-degree days. in fact we got close to 90 north and west, south and east but really no one else cracked that number this afternoon. 87 in allentown, 86 in wilmington, 88 for millville and dover and throughout the day we've had a westerly wind, so no sea breeze this

afternoon right along the shore temperatures in the upper 80's and the ocean right now has moved up to 71 degrees. so, if you're vacationing down the shore this week or in rehoboth or bethany beach or llewes tell wear, you picked a good one with that water temperature. patchy clouds overnight tonight. it's going to be turning more humid, upper 60's north and west, 74 philadelphia, 71 in millville and at the shore lows pretty balmy in the lower 70's. but tomorrow that's when we see the combination of that heat and humidity kind of collide here so it's going to feel over 100 degrees across much of the heart of the delaware valley. heat advisories will go into effect at 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. tomorrow. that's when the peek of the heat is expected but north and west of that area and south and east towards the shore still dangerously hot feeling between 95 and 100. in fact, if you live in and around the highly urbanized area of lansdale and downingtown, middletown, glassboro, up to new egypt you

also have that heat advisory in play until 6 o'clock tomorrow evening. as we look at satellite and radar, we had a powerful system, low pressure with its area of showers and thunderstorms north of chicago heading towards detroit zipping right along and that created damaging storms earlier an piece of that system will drop through here tomorrow afternoon. there will be some scattered strong to severe storms starting at 2 o'clock north and west then towards philadelphia around 4:00, four:30 and off the coast at 7:30 tomorrow evening. they will quickly pass through. not everyone is going to see them but where they do develop tomorrow the major threat will be the intense lightning and the strong downpours. the secondary threat will be strong winds and some hail and a very low risk for tornadoes. most of that will be up in new england where the atmosphere will have a little extra spin in the storms. your five day at 5:00 forecast, hot and humid pop-up storms, 95 degrees. a beautiful wednesday full sunshine low humidity, 86.

tool and a big reward will help them solve a mysterious death in gloucester county. new details tonight in the battle over south carolina's flying of the confederate flag. that as families of the people killed in the charleston church massacre start making their final arrangements. and delaware authorities announce a plan of action to deal with nonviolent crimes. we'll explain. now the details. detectives are hoping social media will help drum up leads in the cold case death of a south jersey mother. 59-year-old carol reiff was last seen alive on june 20 2013. her body was found four days later in her gloucester township apartment complex. well, tonight the victim's family and police are working together to find out what happened. "action news" reporter david hadden reis lie outside the victim's apartment building with more david. >> reporter: sharrie, carell reiff lived at the lake view apartments. her bod was found in this wooded area across the street from the leasing office. that was two years ago.

well today the gloucester township police are hoping to scare up new leads with the help of a video poster on youtube. >> we need your help in solving this suspicious unsolved death of carol. >> reporter: she had arranged to meet her daughter at the shore the morning of june 21st but she never showed up. >> i contacted my mother's local police department because i became worried. >> reporter: carol's body was found three days later. for the past two year her death has been mired in mystery. it's treated as a criminal case even though cause and manner of death are listed as pending. >> she obviously was placed back there. don't believe that she walked back there on her own. so, it was one of the things that lead it to be suspicious. >> reporter: detectives to use dental records to identify reiff. her family has been pushing

hard for answers. her daughter appears in the video with a tearful plea for information. >> thank you so much for your help. >> reporter: her familiar is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. police have done numerous searches around the complex where she lived. her body was found in a wooded area behind this maintenance shed. it's on a busy access road to route 42 and police are hoping the video jogs someone's memory. >> when they see that video and bring whatting that memory of two years ago, if there's anything that they may have no matter how small they watch that video and then they bring that information forward to us, that is so important. >> reporter: gloucester township police have post they had video to their web site and it's a sign back here when it is activated is also end can couraging people to take a look at that web site to try to shake loose any memories

they might have from two years ago and you can also check out the video on 6abc.com. live in gloucester township, david henry, channel6 "action news." monica. >> thank you david. in other news the families of the nine victims killed in that charleston church last week are preparing to bury their loved ones. late today president obama announced he will deliver the eulogy for reverend clementa pinkney on friday in charleston. he and vice president joe biden will attend a memorial. last week's shootings ignite add long running battle over the confederate flag. governor nikki haley called for the removal of the confederate flag from the state grounds. >> today we are here in a moment of unity in our state without ill will to say it's time to move the flag from the capitol grounds. [cheers and applause] >> and shooting suspect dylann roof was seen in a photo

posing with the confederate flag on social media. many folks are at odds over whether that flag is merely a symbol of southern pride or of deep seeded racism. and world news tonight with david muir will have much more on the battle over the confederate flag in south carolina. you can watch that following "action news" at 6:00. police are looking for the gunman who shot two people in north philadelphia overnight. a man was in his toyota camry on north 11th street near west styles when he told investigators he was driving when he saw a group of people and then heard gunfire. that man who was in the vehicle was grazed by a bullet but was not seriously injured. a second man who was walking down the street was also shot and remains in the hospital tonight. a street fight near coney island in new york claimed the life of a north philadelphia man early this morning. nypd says 51-year-old eric rivera was shot in the head just after midnight. they believe he was trying to break up a fight between two

women at the time. detectives have few clues to go on but say they're looking for at least one gunman. police say rivera was in brooklyn visiting family over the weekend. ocean county authorities have released the name of the teen who was killed in a freak accident over the weekend. 17-year-old jared marchiano was found beneath a 650-pound stone slab on saturday morning. the teenager was apparently walking between marble and granite here at stone encounters in berkeley township at the time. investigators are still trying to figure out why he was even at that business. >> from our delaware news room, four women are in the hospital tonight after this crash in bear this afternoon. police say a blue jeep wrangler ran a red light at the intersection of route 40 and route seven. a white four door started to go when the light turned green but it ended up slamming into the jeep causing it to roll over. there were two women in each car. all are being treated but they are expected to survive.

two michigan men behind bars in delaware tonight accused of trying to sell illegal drugs at the firefly music festival in delaware. undercover officers say 31-year-old daniel wood and 39-year-old dion mcpherson were caught with hundreds of doses of lsd bath salts an hallucinogenic mushrooms at the campground in dover. both are being held on $100,000 bond each. >> lawmakers from delaware and wilmington rallied in front of the new castle county courthouse to call for a new plan of action when it comes to low level crimes. they want to establish a community court in wilmington. the building would have courtrooms and social services resources under one roof. supporters say it would put more nonviolent defendants on the path to a successful and productive future. >> community courts have the goal of solving the problems of the defendants appearing before the court while using the leverage of the court to encourage the offenders to give back to their community.

a woman was shot this morning. then police found the suspect in the stolen car. that's when they say the suspect opened fire on them at a sheriff's vehicle. after a brief chase another shootout occurred and the suspect was arrested. two people were injured. neither of them officers. a former white house executive chef was found dead in new mexico. scheib was last seen june 13th when he left for a hike by himself. officials say his body was found yesterday off a trail here in the new mexico mountains. he headed up the white house kitchen from 1994 to 2005. no word yet on the cause of death. >> former u.s. representative jesse jackson is back with his family after he was released from a halfway house today. jackson was serving a 30 month sentence in federal prison for spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign money on personal purchases. he was moved to the halfway house from an alabama prison

the verge of 70 degrees. as we look at the forecast for tonight just a few patchy clouds drifting through but it will turn more humid. deeper into the night we go. 68 degrees in the suburbs, 74 for center city with that southwesterly wind very light four to 8 miles an hour and as we look at future tracker tomorrow afternoon of how it's going to feel when you head outdoors, it will feel like 103 in the city of philadelphia. future tracker showing 104 for most of delaware, the same for millville and cracking that century point even in trenton and lakehurst, atlantic city as well. so dangerously hot tomorrow. hydrate, hydrate, hydrate if you have to be outdoors and try to limit outdoor activity and kind of take a break in the shade every now and then. in addition to that you see these boxes popping up around the storms. tornado watches and also we have a tornado watch just to the south and west of chicago. this powerful system blasting severe storms very quickly across the great lakes. most of the energy with that system will go into new

england. new england has the biggest threat tomorrow for widespread severe weather. we'll see scattered strong to severe storms tomorrow starting around 2 o'clock north and west. around the 4 o'clock hour between wilmington philadelphia and trenton and then those scattered storms push off the coast around 7 o'clock in the evening so between 2:00 and 7:00 from the northwest, 2:00 south and east. with that timing of that period of 2:00 to 7:00 any of the storms that do develop will contain very frequent lightning. when you have that much heat in the atmosphere colliding with ice and the clouds you can get a lot of discharge out of those clouds with that lightning, also torrential downpours. winds could be in excess of 60 miles an hour in a few areas and quarter size hail is possible. but if you're at the shore tomorrow, vacationing down there really overall it's just a breezy very humid day. the storms won't hit until very late in the afternoon so you can get a decent amount of time in on the sand with a temperature of 89 degrees. the exclusive accuweather

7-day forecast, 95 in the city feeling closer if not above 100 degrees with those strong storms in the afternoon but a beautiful wednesday. low humidity, 86 degrees. wall to wall sunshine and as the tall ships come into the delaware on shurs, sun giving way to clouds. there could be some evening showers developing and 84 degrees. on and off showers, kind of a damp day on friday of 81 and that system could be slow to move out saturday and sunday. a lot of clouds. there could be periods of rain over the weekend. highs only in the upper 70's and sun and clouds come monday 80 degrees and hopefully we can fine tune that weekend and try to kick some of the rain out at some point. we have five days to do that and hopefully we can with the accuweather forecast later this week. >> that would be nice. thank you. much more "action news" coming your way right after this. stick around.

>> ♪♪ >> "action news." delaware valley's leading news program. with ducis rodgers meteorologist cecily tynan and jim gardner. >> ♪♪ >> it is monday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is breaking news in the rhawnhurst section of philadelphia. this happened just about 25 minutes ago and as you can see, it is a mess. a car slammed into or make that an suv it appears slammed into a building at loney and tasker again in the rhawnhurst section of philadelphia. we do know that a juvenile has been transported to frankford torresdale hospital. also l and i has been dispatched to the scene to see if that building still has any integrity left. they're concerned about a potential collapse. we don't yet know what the building is. we don't know about the extent of injuries to other people.

in addition to that juvenile who has been taken to the hospital. obviously we are still waiting for information from the scene. when we get it, we will give it to you. now, here is the latest on gunfire that erupted in the kensington section of philadelphia this afternoon. it happened in the 700 block of east hilton street. five people were shot including an 11-year-old girl. law men are trying to sort out the details and most of all they're trying to track down the gunman. live at the scene of the shooting is "action news" reporter annie mccormick. annie, what's the latest on this? >> reporter: and, jim, police say that a shot gun was used and the shooter still remains on the loose. you can see behind me that the crime scene unit is around that bloody scene. police tell us three people were shot, two people were grazed by bullets when that lone gunman opened fire this afternoon. the shooting scene spanned the 700 block of east hilton. in total, five people were injured including an
