to other people. in addition to that juvenile who has been taken to the hospital. obviously we are still waiting for information from the scene. when we get it, we will give it to you. now, here is the latest on gunfire that erupted in the kensington section of philadelphia this afternoon. it happened in the 700 block of east hilton street. five people were shot including an 11-year-old girl. law men are trying to sort out the details and most of all they're trying to track down the gunman. live at the scene of the shooting is "action news" reporter annie mccormick. annie, what's the latest on this? >> reporter: and, jim, police say that a shot gun was used and the shooter still remains on the loose. you can see behind me that the crime scene unit is around that bloody scene. police tell us three people were shot, two people were grazed by bullets when that lone gunman opened fire this afternoon. the shooting scene spanned the 700 block of east hilton. in total, five people were injured including an 11-year-old girl.

>> 3:30 p.m., it's a hot day block was heavily occupied by adults and children. single perpetrator came onto the block male produced a firearm. discharged multiple times on the block. >> reporter: police transported three victims by police cruisers taking them to temple hospital. a 25-year-old male was slot in the chest. he's critical. a 24-year-old male was shot in the neck. he's also critical an 46-year-old man was shot in the back of the head, he is in stable condition. a 32-year-old woman was transported to hahnemann hospital and the 11-year-old to saint christopher's both suffered graze wounds. a gun was recovered near the scene. police cannot say yet if that was the gun used in the crime. later commissioner ramsey arrived on the scene. this is the second shooting in the city in three days that injured multiple people. >> some of these guys just don't care. they just do not care. and any time, anyplace, irrespective of who may be on

the street. >> reporter: and back out here live again you can see the crime scene unit there around that scene. that's one of several scenes within the block. now, there are also two children that were taken with their mother to the hospital. that 32-year-old woman that was taken to hahnemann. but both of those children are okay. they just went along with her. now, the description that they have of the suspect, they say it's a black male. they say that he is possibly 25 to 30 years old only 5-foot seven. they say that he may have been wearing a black handkerchief and a red and white tank top. if you have any information you're urged to contact police. live in kensington, annie mccormick channel6 "action news." jim. >> thank you annie. philadelphia police are investigating the sexual assault of a 14-year-old a 14-year-old girl in north philadelphia. the incident happened just after 9 o'clock inside the jocelyn corner store at 18th and huntington. police say surveillance video shows a 30-year-old store employee putting his hand up the girl's skirt. police are working to obtain an arrest warrant.

a pennsylvania bottling company has ordered a massive recall of its bottled water because it may be contaminated by e. coli. live at the acme in bala cynwyd is "action news" reporter sarah bloomquist tonight. sarah, what are the details here? >> reporter: jim, there are no reports of anybody becoming sick. this was a voluntary recall after multiple samples indicated that the source of the spring water was contaminated with e. coli. some big store names in our area including acme and wegmans are among those that pulled the bottled water voluntarily from store shelves over the weekend. at the acme in bala cynwyd this afternoon customers were understandably concerned when they learned of the bottled water recall. >> a little scary. a little scary. makes you worried on what you're drinking. what are we drinking? >> particularly in the summer when you're drinking a lot of it when it's so hot you just drink so much that, you know, it's going to get consumed, you know.

>> reporter: niagara bottling purchased spring water from far away springs in auburn schuylkill county. the water was then bottled at its facilities in hamburg berks county or upper macungie lehigh county between june 10th and june 18th. e. coli turned up in multiple samples from far away springs during routine testing. the water was treated but not at a facility permitted by the dep. so niagara issued the voluntary recall. in this area acme, 7-eleven, shop rite and wegmans carried the water under store brand names and pulled it from shelves over the weekend. customers said it was another example of why they're concerned overall about food safety. >> meat and now water is being called back. >> yes, i am very concerned about what's going on in the world with our foods and with our drinking water and so on and so forth yes, i am. >> reporter: now, you can return the bottled water to

days later near the maintenance building in her gloucester township apartment complex. well, today her daughter and police released a youtube video with a time line of her disappearance. there is a $20,000 reward for the capture and conviction of a suspect. people in the strawberry mansion section of philadelphia woke up this morning to find their tires slashed. again. residents tell "action news" this isn't the first time someone has damaged their vehicles. the tires were slashed in the area of 29th and huntington streets stranding victims as they tried to get to work. neighbors say about seven vehicles were hit. police say they have been notified but is not yet responded to the scene. >> ♪♪ philadelphia mayor michael nutter and archbishop charles chaput are leading a delegation in rome and they have a great deal to do to prepare for the papal visit in september. also in rome is "action news"'s brian taff and he brings us up to date.

>> it is the start of the new era at plymouth whitemarsh high school but it's going to take some time an whole lot of work to finish a $40 million makeover. "action news" reporter eva pilgrim was at the school today. >> reporter: the ceremonial groundbreaking marks the start of a major makeover for plymouth whitemarsh high school. >> i feel that some parts to need to be upgrade. >> being a graduate from whitemarsh high school you see the same lockers same hallways same classrooms that we've had over 20 years ago so it's great to really have a facility really match the quality of education that we provide our students. >> reporter: the $40 million renovation will modernize the high school but it will also create some issues for

learning. principal dr. jason connie says they've been talking to parents and students about what exactly will happen and when to ensure class time is not interrupted. >> i think we hit all the communication vehicles be proactive to let them know ahead of time safety and areas of concern to make sure the instruction isn't impacted. >> reporter: the big first project turning this courtyard into one large cafeteria which was a top priority for the students. >> we've done a lot. we've taken polls of the student body, we've held meetings and really all of our major topics and interests in what the students need are being represented. >> reporter: the new eating area will feature a mall style food court complete with an outdoor eating area for for when it's nice. >> everyone has cell phones, portable devices so we wanted to incorporate power stations so kids can power their equipment during down time. >> reporter: the cafeteria should be finished by march of next year. the remaining projects will take longer. many dealing with the internal bones of the school.

>> renewed take recently about getting pete rose into the hall of fame but maybe another hurdle to climb. >> a big one i think. former philly pete rose always maintained he never gambled on baseball while he was still playing. well today espn says they've uncovered a notebook that proves rose bet on the reds during this last year as a player in 1986 much it's first written record he bet on baseball while he was still on the field. previously he only admitted to gambling while managing the team. rose agreed to a lifetime ban if baseball back in 1989 and remains ineligible for the hall of fame. fame.

severe thunderstorms before the day ends tomorrow. here's that heat advisory. goes into effect at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning and lasts through 6 o'clock in the evening for the highly urbanized areas between wilmington philadelphia, trenton all the towns you see in and around this as well in that orange zone. it just means that the heat index the combination of the air temperature, the humidity will feel close to 100 degrees tomorrow afternoon. in addition to that because of the heat and humidity being in place and then a cold front coming in, which is a trigger in the atmosphere, to kind of rise the air up there could be some strong storms developing everywhere and some of them could contain some damaging winds, also some small hail but the biggest concern for severe weather will be in the orange which is up in new england but we still have a small threat here tomorrow afternoon. so as we say hello to summer today's high 91 in philadelphia. it's the seven and time we've hit 90 or above this year and up to this point we typically average six days above 90 degrees so pretty on par so

far this year. for now 87 trenton. the same for the shore. we've had a westerly wind so it's equally as warm no matter where you are. upper 80's in dover. and upper 70's right now in the poconos. just a few clouds overnight tonight and we're going to be cranking that humidity up minute by minute or i should say hour by hour as we go deeper into the overnight with overnight lows on other side of 70 degrees. and we're watching severe weather rocking north of chicago, parts of the great lakes earlier this morning. you see these boxes popping up severe thunderstorm watches. also tornado watches and warnings. most of the energy again goes into new england tomorrow afternoon but is trailing cold front will pop some scattered storms starting at 2 o'clock north and west. along i-95 by 4:00, 4:30, off the coast by 7:30, 8 o'clock. in that line some storms will have vivid lightning torrential downpours, 60 miles an hour wind gusts and also possibility of quarter size
