6:31 am
near 100 with oppressive humidity and a lot of that area. the other issue is the thunderstorms. right now we've got a line of them popping north of pittsburgh and starting to push to the east of the steel city. looks like in our case most of these will hold off until later this afternoon but once they hit they could be strong and gusty. 77 degrees in philadelphia, 75 wilmington, still in the 60's in allentown. 74 trenton, 75 in sea isle city. check out the dewpoints. every time we get numbers above 70 on this map it means oppressive humidity and most of the region right now is in that oppressive zone. how about that 76-degree dewpoint in dover? that's just an indication of how saturated the air is and how uncomfortable it's going to be. as we roll through the day by 8 o'clock, 79 degrees. by noon, though, 91 and your high today will be 95 feeling like 100 and again any time after about three or 4 o'clock, starting in the northern and western suburbs we'll be on the lookout for some strong gusty drenching thunderstorms. i'll have more details on what to expect from those storms

and future tracker six showing you how they're going to roll through the region. that's coming up in the exclusive accuweather 7-day. karen. >> all right, we have a dry commute now but we've got big problems already. this is the northeast extension northbound. all lanes are blocked because of an accident northbound on the northeast extension between quakertown and lehigh valley. that's exit 44 and exit 56. all lanes blocked. you've got to stick to 309 as your alternate to deal with this accident that's causing problems right here on the northeast extension. in north coventry township we have an issue here an earlier accident brought down a pole and that downed pole still causing issues here in chester county. so route 22 westbound, for route 422 westbound is blocked between route 100 and 662 and they've also blocked the ramp from route 100 northbound to 422. so, you've got a couple things blocked because of this downed pole here. stick to 724 or use high street to get around the alternate there. looking live on the schuylkill expressway you see no weather related problems but we're slow nonetheless. looking live here in conshohocken, eastbound traffic headed towards gladwyne pretty slow from the

6:36 am
segregation but back in 2001 mississippi voters decided by a two to one margin to keep the state flag it has used since 1894. since then bills that proposed to change the flag have gained to traction. meanwhile in south carolina, haley says she's not against the heritage the flag represents but said yesterday it is time for a change. some family members of the charleston church shooting victims are skeptical of the timing of her announcement. >> for many people in our state, the flag stands for traditions that are noble. for those who wish to show their respect for the flag on their private property no one will stand in your way. but the statehouse is different. and the events of this past week call upon us to look at this in a different way. >> last week her position was we don't have time for this debate right now. last week her position was there will be a day for us to discuss this. and over the weekend pictures

6:39 am
we will probably see maybe just a passing shower or a thunderstorm and by 3 o'clock we'll be on the lookout for some of this stuff beginning to development between 3:00 and 5:00 model consistently interested in putting the action in the northern and western suburbs down to about philadelphia. notice how these storms are a little on the spotty side. but where they hit they're producing drenching downpours and some additional issues that i'll talk about in a moment. as we go up to 7 o'clock philadelphia still getting hammered by this as well as the rest of the i-95 corridor. some lingering stuff in the northern and western suburbs and then by 9 o'clock it looks like most of this action is shifting over by the shore. some of this pretty heavy thunderstorm activity. severe weather probabilities though are fairly high, at least compared to where they usually are. the storm prediction center has us in this orange zone which is a moderate chance of any storm that forms producing strong wind gusts potentially as high as 60 miles per hour. that would be enough to bring down trees and wires. there's also a lower risk but
6:40 am
a risk nonetheless of some hail from some of these storms and from about the i-95 corridor and on through the northern and western suburbs there's even a chance of an isolated tornado. i'll tell you the support for this is probably a little better up in new england but the fact that the storm prediction center is even mentioning this combination of problems tells you that if you hear thunder or see lightning later today or tonight you head indoors to the lower floors because some of these storms could potentially be strong. the other part of the story of course, is the temperature. 79 degrees by 8 o'clock. 88 by 11 o'clock. and then by 2 o'clock 94 degrees with a high of 95 this afternoon. and remember, there is a heat advisory because the combination of this temperature and that high humidity is going to feel like it's about 100 degrees at times today. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast shows that 95 today for your high. hot, humid uncomfortable. later in the afternoon and evening the chance of a strong thunderstorm popping. there was and then all that's over on wednesday. it's sunny and much nicer

good weather for the union. 84 is your high on thursday, parade of sail at 2 o'clock. some point in the afternoon and evening a chance of a shower or thunderstorm. hopefully it does not hinder the tall ships coming up the the delaware. friday 77 and for the weekend it now looks as though we have a shot at going all the way back into the low 70's. there is the chance of some rain on saturday night. and perhaps into sunday morning. the weekend does not look like a washout. best of all looks like it's going to be rather comfortable. >> especially after those temperatures. >> thanks. 6:41. all new here at 6:00 a.m. on "action news" people in japan mark 70 years since that brutal battle at okinawa. >> a man suspected of harassing wildlife caught on camera. karen. >> the 30 bypass at 322 where traffic is moving okay, just a bit slow eastbound from 322 to 113. a couple of big accidents on a jam on i-95. all that were when we come back. >> happening today, the
