just trying to calm their frayed nerves. wednesday night, jim's off, i'm monica malpass. the big story on "action news" tonight is desperation and devastation after last night's monstrous storm. the frustration can still be felt on cherry hill tonight. folks say a fallen tree cut off their street, trapping them in a way. but then, cause for celebration as pse and g repair crew is a arrived with the fire department 24 hours later and dealt with the clean up. it is a scene being echoed in our region tonight with power companies warning some residents their electricity in may not be turned on, until the weekend. in fact peco still has 91,000 outages to deal with right now, more than half in delaware county. ac electric has even more, 152,000. pse&g working to get power on for 22,000. del marva about 6,000, in the diamond state. who has stories of how folks are coping this second night without power sharrie? >> reporter: yeah, hey monica, big headache for these homeowners, take a look for yourself. you can see where they have taken a beating here. this tree, once stood high up in the air but as you can see now it is complete liz uprooted. that has been the story throughout the a area. well into the evening families in brookhaven are working to get their homes and their yard back in order. gene grabbed her lake clearing away branches and trees blown around by the storm. >> it really is quite a devastation. in fact, i got caught driving in it, and it was horrifying. >> reporter: one street over at her neighbor's house this is the scene a tree, uprooted and crashed through the pennsylvania patio. a tree service removed part of it but good portion still remains. brian mason lives her here with his family. >> it was surreal. i had to thought this was in

the real. >> reporter: brookhaven isn't only town feeling effects of the storm. in media families flocked to the popular dining under the stars event but dozens of the restaurant like picasso's lost power, putting a damper on business. >> we're trying. obviously nothing in the kitchen is able to go. it is pitch black report report we found one restaurant operating in the tark, little anthony's pizza on state street was without power but ovens run on gas so they're open. >> gas, gas ovens, fortunately, and now we're sweating and trying to help everyone. >> reporter: carol woody and her daughter sammy needed a place to grab dinner because their power is still out. >> hopefully it gets back on. >> we do like to come up for dining under the stars on wednesday here in media but tonight it was very helpful to come up because we could not cook. >> reporter: could not cook because they didn't have power. this down tree, and also

affecting the area when hitting a power line nearby for these homeowners. these residents can relate, to not having power, not being able to cook, and forfor the second night in the row the brightest light and only lights in the neighborhood are from our tv cameras and from the "action news" van. these residents are without power. we are hearing from the delaware county officials that they will hope to restore power come friday night. we're live from brookhaven delaware county sharrie williams channel six "action news". monica. >> let's switch live to "action news" reporter dann cuellar along the path of destruction in south jersey where weather experts determined 85-mile an hour wind, struck there right dan? >> reporter: that is right monica. the devastation here in the greenwich crossing subdivision is widespread, as you can see this vinyl fencing, torn apart like children's toys. over there in the distance you can see that the roof was ripped off of that building, and over here, among all of these down trees you will see a racing trail their was loaded with three quads and

two motorcycles that the owner says was tossed for 50 feet and rolled five times before it landed where it is, minus the quads and motorcycles. on the ground you see yellow insulation, all over the place, that came apart from some of the homes in the subdivision but before the storm struck here it blew the roof off a firehouse in mantua with fire fighters inside, lets take a look. dramatic cell phone video taken by a mantua volunteer fire fighter shows the storm moment before it blew the roof off the firehouse. >> we see black black sky coming across, shut the doors down and that is when it all hit. we heard a big loud boom, which was a roof coming off of the building. >> reporter: in seconds fire fighters say a large portion of the roof was blown off by powerful wind, and scattered everything across a neighbor's backyard, including air conditioning, and electrical equipment accounts that was on the roof. inside the building was heavily damaged by what the their poured in. >> all of our offices, my office career staff office our meeting room, everything that we had just work on about

a year ago to renovate this whole hall and our volunteer time is all destroyed. >> reporter: only moments earlier in east greenwich the storm blew through greenwich crossing subdivision. >> it sounded like a freight train was going through our homes. it was scary. we thought we were going to lose our roof. >> i took off to the basement. it was like a freight training come through. whole house was shaking. >> reporter: fifteen minutes later the storm moved through and residents could not believe devastation left behind. roofs blown off buildings portion of someone's house blown on to electrical wires. debris, every where. >> it looked like armageddon. it looked like the apocalypse. babies were crying, dogs were barking, just everybody came out to check on everybody the community really came together. >> reporter: meantime back in the mantua firehouse. >> we are getting a call now. >> mantua township. >> reporter: the calls just kept coming in and volunteers were still responding to fires, to fight all of the damage to their firehouse.

a patient has had won a lawsuit after accidentally recording his doctor, insulting him and putting a phony diagnosis on his chart. the patient had been recording the doctor's post op instructions but he forgot to turn it off when he went under anesthesia for a colonoscopy and the recording captured this.

the patient sued for defamation, and medical malpractice. he was awarded more than half million-dollar in damages. corrections officer is under arrest tonight in the escape of those two convicted murderers in new york. gene palmer was charge with promoting contraband and tampering with evidence. he will ab rain in the felonies next wednesday. investigators say palmer helped smuggle tools and contraband to richard matt and david sweat in frozen hamburger meat and then gave them access to a catwalk. philadelphia was on the holy father's mine, during a general audience today in rome italy. pope francis not only stopped to a shake hand were on our delegation visiting from here but he had a personal message about the visit to the city of brotherly love. brian taff reports from rome. >> reporter: night fall in rome here after another extraordinary day and this one particularly memorable because of what happened early this morning, and it came as quite a surprise. this is not your every day
