closing in on him. of course matt and sweat have been on the run for nearly three weeks after breaking out of their cells using power tools. we will of course keep you posted on this breaking news story as more information becomes available to us. >> all right, turning to other news now it's been a deadly day overseas. three attacks in three countries, one at a factory in france that is based in lehigh county. >> it was a gruesome attack that's hit home for a business here in our area. a man rams a car into the factory triggering an explosion and a businessman was beheaded. the suspect is a local truck driver and the man found decapitated was his boss. the gas factory where it all happened belongs to a company based in upper mcewen township and that's where john rawlins is. he joins us lie with the very latest. hi, john. >> reporter: hi, sharrie. the company involved is air products. it's a big industrial player worldwide. it is a bigler here in allentown, more than 3,000

people employed in the area locally. a statement that was updated a short timing a by the ceo says he was horrified and saddened by what occurred. air products sending word today it has stepped up security worldwide including here at its headquarters in trexlertown. lunchtime today scores of staffers left the campus to eat, many declined to talk about the french attack. those who did said the reaction to the news sorrow and surprise. >> it's a tragic event. people are concerned for their families. >> reporter: were you surprised at the news? >> surprised absolutelily we're a company that does good things. it's not like we're out here doing harm. >> i don't know why they targeted air products but i think it's just random. i think it was air products in general that they were targeting. >> reporter: you think it was a convenient target. >> correct, right. >> reporter: these images produced by air products a fortune 500 company which does business in 50 countries with sales of $10 billion a year it

is known for producing industrial gases among them nitrogen hydrogen and oxygen used in healthcare electronics manufacturing and food processing. company officials did not talk to reporters today. the company did put out a written statement that read in part "we are deeply saddened by loss of life and want to express our sympathies to the family of the victim of this unspeakable tragedy." so, one victim, one fatality. he was the manager avenue french based transportation company. two other people reportedly were injured the not clear who they might have worked for. air products in their statement said all air products employees were safe and accounted for. live in trexlertown, john rawlins channel6 "action news." rick. >> all right, john, thank you. also today a gunman opened fire on tourists at a beach in tunisia killing at least 37 people. dozens more were wounded. witnesses say a man unfurled an umbrella pulled out a gun and opened fire.

at a mosque in kuwait 25 people are dead from the blast and isis is claiming responsibility. this was the first terrorist attack in kuwait in more than two decades. >> in light of those attacks the department of homeland security has issued a reminder for americans to stay vigilant especially with the upcoming fourth of july holiday. the department's secretary says it is encouraging state and local law enforcement to be vigilant and prepared. they'll ah adjust security measures to protect the public. >> the supreme court today ruled that same-sex couples in all 50 states now have the right to get married. the five to four decision ends a long battle which many say is the defining civil rights issue of our time. but then within hours of the decision same-sex couples in the 14 states that had banned gay marriage began applying for licenses to tie the knot. president obama spoke shortly after the ruling saying the

weather for the start of our weekend. we'll show you what's going on with storm tracker6 live double scan radar 3-d. the area of low pressure we're tracking is over central sections of illinois. you can see all of this moisture currently moving out of the ohio valley. it will continue to do so as we get into the start of our weekend on saturday. so, we'll time it out for you showing you future tracker six. as we go throughout the morning hours 11:00 a.m. you can see a lot of the steady rain is still west of philadelphia so still some light precipitation at that moment but as we go in time here, 7:00 p.m. tomorrow evening the heavy rain will continue to move on in from a west to east direction. and that's why the national weather service has issued that flood watch. it's really for philadelphia that 95 corridor and points to the north and west, so the watch goes up saturday afternoon lasting right through sunday morning. flooding is a big concern especially ponding on the roadways. so, the weekend call from accuweather showing you tomorrow it's a good soaking on the way. the rain arrives, some of which will be heavy as we get into the afternoon and evening hours. it's going to be a cooler day

as well with a high temperature of 74. and on sunday, some improvement on the way. clouds and some sunshine. it looks to be a mostly dry day with a high temperature coming in at 79 so a 50-50 weekend and the better half is definitely coming in on sunday. we'll have more details sharrie coming up with the full and exclusive accuweather forecast. >> okay, melissa, thank you. from our new jersey news room now, police in atlantic city are investigating a shooting that left a man in critical condition. officers were called to the atlantic care regional medical center after the victim was dropped off there just around 1:30 this afternoon. investigators say he had been shot multiple times in the 800 block of north virginia avenue. so far no arrests have been made. >> a pennsylvania state trooper was injured this morning in a crash on i-95 in delaware county. chopper six was over the scene shortly after the accident at around 10:30. the trooper was investigating another crash near bartram avenue in tinicum township when he was struck. he was inside his patrol car

at the time. he had to be freed from the vehicle. the vehicle had hit him remained on the scene. the trooper's injuries are not severe and he's expected to be okay. >> time for the "action news" traffic report this friday. >> all right, seems like it's been a long week. matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. weekend arrived just in time right, matt. >> yeah, but to cap it off it's going to be a long ride home as well rick and sharrie on this friday afternoon. plenty slowing especially here on 95 in delaware county. it's a parking lot coming north of the state line through this point approaching the blue route. you can see the accident with all the emergency crews on the scene taking out the two right lanes. so, just that left lane is squeezing by leaving us with a 35 minute travel time. that's more than four times what it should be on 95 northbound through delco. on 95 southbound we had that crash close to academy road. that's out of the way now but just a bit farther south near cottman there's a disabled vehicle now taking out the left lane and then as you get closer to the city, speeds just in the teens headed down towards double games phils and the soul tonight in south

philadelphia. of course we've also had issues on the schuylkill expressway like a crash here on the westbound side right by the belmont off ramp but it's off to the side. still, though, really slow moving westbound traffic and just generally delays in both directions. you can also expect delays on the northeast extension headed up toward the poconos because of a crash by the lehigh valley interchange off to the side. and if you take the ac rail line to get down the shore eastbound trains going to resume service at 5:47, westbound just resuming finally making some progress after those storms on tuesday. rick i'll catch you again in about a half hour. >> see you then. thanks matt. developing news on the phillies front. manager ryne sandberg has stepped down. he's led the team since he was named interim manager back in 2013. the phillies finished last in the national league east last year. this year they're the worst team in baseball. third base coach pete mccann none will take over for sandberg for now. jamiejaime apody is at citizens

bank park. she'll have much more at 5:30. >> definitely a big talker today. summer is the best time of the year to eat fresh fruits and lucky for us some of the best are grown right here in our area. >> this year's blueberry crop shows there's good reason new jersey is called the garden state. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic has more. >> reporter: new jersey's blueberry season is in full swing. it started june 1st a week earlier than normal and production is peaking right about now. >> fruits definitely it's coming into its own. the fruit looks fabulous. you know, the size is outstanding. the quality is excellent. >> reporter: at moore's farm in tabernacle migrant workers are picking 40 acres roughly 64,000 plants by hand. >> hand harvest is gentler on the blueberry and keeps it firm. >> reporter: during peak season farmers are working long hours. once the plump blueberries are picked they're sorted where they move along conveyor belts and are checked to remove

stems or green berries. then they're load into the little plastic car tons you see for sale at the store. >> when the blueberries come in we'll do maybe 30, 40 pallets loaded up a day. it's crazy. >> it's about five to six weeks mad dash to get everything done. you want to get that fruit picked packed and on the shelves as soon as possible to keep the quality high. >> reporter: the u.s. department agriculture says new jersey is fifth in the nation when it comes to blueberry production. last year farmers grew over 56 million pounds. 11-year-old sam is the seventh generation of blueberry farmers in the moore family. >> there's a lot of generations in the family and i just want to keep it going so -- so the business keeps going on. >> reporter: with the crop now coming in farmers like the moores will be busy until every last berry is picked. in tabernacle, i'm nora muchanic, channel6 "action news"." >> still to come on "action

>> ♪♪ >> health check tonight it is fitness friday and many athletes will be participating in the johnson and johnson try rock philadelphia triathlon this weekends. >> the event raises money for pediatric cancer research at the children's hospital and this year one participant has a very personal reason why he's competing. health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman is at the big board with the story. >> this is steven stuart of west chester. he's a teenager who spent a lot of time as a patient at the children's hospital two years ago. now he is healthy and wants to pay it forward. >> you will start your swim right from here. >> reporter: 18-year-old

steven stuart is getting some last minute advice before his first triathlon this weekend. but this isn't his coach it's dr. susan ryan gold his oncologist or cancer doctor. you see, two years ago when he was 16 steven started feeling sick. >> i was just experiencing the worst stomach pain like i've ever felt. like the worst pain i've ever felt really. >> reporter: he was diagnosed with diffuse large b cell lymphoma an aggressive cancer. >> when the diagnosis came in it was shocking to say the least. >> reporter: dr. ryangold says after surgery steven needed intensive chemotherapy. during that time she talked to him about her experience doing triathlons. >> it's always been my dream to get a patient out there to do it as well. >> reporter: this year that dream is coming true. steven is now healthy and ready to race. >> 5:00 in the morning. >> he even got his little brother, four-year-old zach to

>> ♪♪ >> a deal could come as early as this weekend on plan to keep greece from defaulting on its debt. the nation has been operating under a bailout which is set to end tuesday. greek leaders have agreed to terms. greece owes the international monetary fund $2 billion. an emergency meeting is set for tomorrow. >> more than 300 people learned today they will lose their jobs after a bakery in northeast philadelphia announced it is shutting down. they own old kraft foods planter in northeast philadelphia will close sometime next year. the company plans to consolidate its operations to other locations in new jersey and virginia. >> well, in honor of today's historic decision making same-sex marriage legal in the united states, ben and jerry

>> time now for the accuweather forecast at the "action news" big board. meteorologist melissa magee joining us. keeping an eye to the sky for the rain we're looking to come in. >> yeah, that's right, sharrie and rick you want to have the wet weather gear close to you as you head into the weekend. that moisture is moving in and it looks to be heavy by saturday night. here's storm tracker six live double scan radar. it's dry and quiet across the region but north and west across our western suburbs of pennsylvania we are tracking a spotty shower so it's mainly in the lehigh county to the north of lynn port there you can see just to the north as well of i-78 we're tracking that light shower. if you're between route 309 and 222 which he is to macungie we have light precipitation on the way. there's more moisture coming just in time for saturday. temperatures currently 81 in philadelphia, 77 in allentown the lehigh valley. along the coast in sea isle city 72. pair of seven's as well out to the west in lancaster here's satellite6 along with action radar. this is the area of low

pressure we're tracking currently over central illinois. you notice that moisture coming out of the ohio valley with some severe thunderstorm watch boxes posted down from cincinnati and as far south as memphis. we'll be tracking this moisture as it works its way from a west-east direction just in time for the start of our weekend. the call from accuweather for the rest of tonight it's mostly cloudy. the loud will dominate the sky. showers are possible toward dawn. we'll drop down to 66 in the city, 64 in allentown, 66 in cape may for the overnight low. here's future tracker six. we'll time out the moisture for you. 8:30 in the morning it's mostly cloudy for most locations but you notice that moisture still off to our west approaching lancaster. also getting closer to reading, allentown and the poconos but as we go throughout time here you can see noon the steady rainfall will start to develop with moderate pockets of rainfall as well but by 6 o'clock that moisture continues to inundate the region and it does give us a soak as we go through the rest of saturday night. the moisture will quickly

depart as we get into the overnight hours and for the second half of our weekend on sunday by 8 o'clock in the morning. expected rainfall for philadelphia and points to the north and west, you can find anywhere from one to 2 inches of rainfall and locally higher amounts than that especially through our western suburbs. down across south jersey and dover anywhere were from one to 2 inches of rain on the way. the weekend kick off not the best going on. the city tomorrow heavy rain will develop a high temperature of 74 going to be a cool day. afternoon and evening rain at the shore with a high temperature of 73 and up in the poconos tomorrow its a washout. head to the movies tomorrow with a high temperature of just 62. years your five day at 5:00 showing you on saturday that heavy afternoon rain, high temperature of 74 degrees. again one to 2 inches across south jersey and delaware. two plus for the city points to the north and west. breezy some sunshine on sunday, a high of 79. gets better and brighter on monday with a high of 84. 87 tuesday and we'll hold that back next wednesday. we'll have more details guys

>> ♪♪ >> "action news" at 5:00 continues now with more on our breaking news story tonight. one of the two escaped convicts in new york state has reportedly been shot and killed by police. sources tell abc news escapee richard matt was shot and killed. he was reportedly shot by a u.s. border control agent near the canadian border. authorities are now searching for the other fugitive, david sweat. they say they have a good idea

where he is and are pursuing him with canine teams at this hour. still not clear, though, if both men were together at the time. but of course both escapees escaped from the clinton correctional facility back on june 6th and since then it's been an intense manhunt that spanned across upstate new york. earlier today authorities announced that they had credible evidence that the men were heading towards canada. that turned out to be correct. once again abc news is reporting that escaped murderer richard matt has been shot and killed by police. the second convict, david sweat, remains on the run. we will continue to follow this breaking story and bring you updates as we get them. >> now to an emotional service in charleston, this afternoon. thousands honored the life of state senator and reverend clementa pinkney. president obama delivered the eulogy for pinkney saying he was a man who lived by faith. pinkney was one of anyone who was shot to death during a bible study at a charleston church last week.

abc's marci gonzalez is live in charleston tonight with more. marcy, good evening. >> reporter: good evening, sharrie. tomorrow people wanted to be a part of this that the funeral won fit inside of this church instead the more than four hour long service was held in an arena just around the corner. as people started lining up at 4 o'clock this morning just to pay their respects. >> ♪♪ >> reporter: between impassioned songs and moving signs, testaments to how pastor clementa pinkney's death so reflected his loving life. >> senator pinkney's last act was to open his doors to someone who he did not know, who he did not understand and who did not look like him. let us not close the doors to senator pinkney -- that senator pinkney gave his life for to us open. >> reporter: a message of forgiving unity in light of a hateful, race fueled massacre. pinkney one of nine people shot to death last week in the

church he so proudly led praised today by mourners who stood in line for hours in blistering heat. >> he was a good manly he was loved by everyone. >> reporter: just to pack this arena to capacity with 5,000 people and pure emotion. >> ♪♪ >> reporter: president obama delivering the eulogy. >> what a lifife clementa pinkney lived. what an example he set. what a model for his faith. >> reporter: reflectorring on this tragedy that sparked a national debate on racial tensions and symbolism and honoring a husband father and leader and all his legacy represents. and services for other victims will be held over the next few days. some of them will be right here in the very church where they were killed. live in charleston, south carolina, marci gonzalez, channel6 "action news." sharrie back to you.

>> march see thankthank you. you can watch that following "action news" at 6:00. >> back here five men are accused of trying hire prostitutes during an be undercover sting in montgomery county. today prosecutors announced the arrest of wellington bravo richard bruno joseph dalessandro adam golden and johnny parker. each allegedly agreed to pay money for prostitutes in response to an online advertisement. police placed the fake ad to target the sex trade in the king of prussia area. a police chase ended today in new castle county. police say 30-year-old davidra morris an 17-year-old boy allegedly broke into not one but two gnomes wilmington and hockessin yesterday. in the first case investigators say a

91-year-old woman had her purse stolen and was physically attacked. the second owner escaped and called 911. the duo took off eventually crashing into another car near the intersection of limestone and little baltimore roads. both more rinse the juvenile are facing a number of charges including robbery and reckless endangerment. a video showing an arrest of a man holding a baby on a septa train. "action news" reporter chad pradelli is live in center city tonight with more on that. chad. >> reporter: rick, septa police officer tom nestell wrapped up a press conference about an hour ago. he was visually upset about what happened yesterday on the market frankford el and he says the agency is now reviewing its policies and procedures. this is a few seconds that had septa reviewing its policies and people outraged. a septa officer grab mang with

his infant daughter in hand, grabbing him by the neck and pushing him against the rail car. it happened yesterday around 5:00 p.m. on the market frankford el. >> i never want a child's safety to be jeopardized. this is the type of incident that causes us to reflect on what we tell our police officers and how we tell them. >> reporter: septa police chief tom nestell says the man evaded his fare. the officer approached him and video shows him engaging in conversation for more than five minutes. septa says the officer tried to get the man off the el peacefully so he could be cited but the man refused. after the push, other officers are called in. and eventually the man is handcuffed and cited. >> officers are trained for incidents such as this. and if your train congress not kick in where your common sense should be able to kick in to realize there's a child involved and this should be deescalated instead of escalating this. >> reporter: what sort of responsibility does the father

have if he simply gets off and accepts the citation this may not happen as well. >> i think the father acted reasonably without aggression. >> reporter: septa did not name the officer but says he's a 16 year veteran with no complaints. nestell says the officer told his sergeant he didn't let the situation go because he feared he would be disciplined for noncitation. fare evaders have been a focus of nestell's tenure. he says felony crimes have dropped 30 percent in 2014. >> that's a failure on my part part. >> reporter: and internal affairs investigation is under way. the man his daughter and the officer were uninjured. live in center city, chad prad daymarks channel6 "action pradelli, channel6 "action news." >> a former atlantic city police officer going prison for sexually assaulting a teen last year. a judge sentenced andre corbin for five years behind bars.

rail line is back up and running tonight. >> yeah, and that's the great news. of course people want to get home because it is the start of the weekend. >> or head to the shore. >> yes, somewhere nice. >> somewhere nice. >> let's check in with matt pelman with a check of the roads. hi matt. >> is it nice out there on 95, matt. >> no, this is not somewhere nice. you want to stay far away from this or turn on peaceful music in the car because it's going to be a long slow frustrating ride for drivers northbound out of delaware up to the blue route. that travel time is five times what it should be between those two points sitting at a 40 mint minute40 minute ride ride. in concorde township overturned truck on ivy mills road. we're trying to get things reopened because of the storms on tuesday but route one baltimore pike southbound is still closed through concorde township. smith bridge road 322 alternates until that can be cleaned up. this is 95 in the great northeast southbound a disabled vehicle approaching cottman causing a crawl coming down from woodhaven.

manager. sandberg said the losing got to him. he leaves with 119 and 159 record which is worse for a phillies manager in free years. right now they're 26 and 48 in last place in the majors. sandberg was emotional when he made this announcement ironic because he rarely shows any emotion in the dugout. he cited the looming changes in the front office. knowing he won't be here long he kind of wanted to leave on his own terms. >> in the last three years here at philadelphia, i have met some of the most passionate baseball fans on a daily basis that always gave me encouragement. they love their baseball team. and that was something i'll never forget. >> reporter: at the time of this announcement sandberg hadn't even told his players the news yet. needless to say they were as surprised as we all were that this happened now.

what we are tracking is off to our west. there's an area of low pressure currently just to the south of chicago. you can see severe thunderstorm watch boxes posted from memphis and as far north as cincinnati. so the moisture currently moving through the ohio valley and this will continue to work its way eastward just in time for the start of our weekend. future tracker six timing out the precipitation for you. 9 o'clock at the morning it's a mostly cloudy start to the day but you notice across our western suburbs from lancaster up to the poconos we're tracking light but steady rainfall on the move. 12:30 tomorrow afternoon once again have the wet weather gear have the umbrella, have that slicker close to you in case because the moisture will be coming down. 6 o'clock in the evening the moisture will pick up in intensity from a west-east direction which is why the national weather service has issued that flood watch for most locations. 9 o'clock tomorrow night a good soaking on the way and it does look to be the possibility of some strong storms well south of our region. as we go throughout time, however, for the second half of our weekend on sunday, clouds will bring forth
