overspread patchy drizzle over south jersey and delaware. this is the first sign of what is net -- yet to come. huge area of low pressure over the great lakes along with it comes an approaching warm front that will trigger thunderstorms later on and the potential for severe weather. forecast for today i hope you have a good plan b because if plan a is outdoors, it's not going to go well. the rain will be heavy this afternoon west of philadelphia. the possibility is there for flooding and gusty thunderstorms. i'll talk about that and have the timing for you when it clears out in the seven day when i see you in ten minutes. eva. >> flood flash flooding created dangerous conditions on the schuylkill expressway. the action cam found cars wading through waves of water the massive puddle formed in the eastbound lanes in her the

belmont exit. traffic came to a stop so crews could clean storm drains to prevent additional ponding on the roads. the flash flooding overnight caused a small mudslide in west conshohocken. water came rushing off the blue route dumping rocky debris on the balligomingo road. police tried to block traffic but cars managed to manuver through the muck. on river road, flooding was an issue, police were diverting drivers. the red cross is teeming up with a power company to offer assistance for people without electricity from tuesday's storm. atlantic city electric is offering people water today. 19,000 people still do not have electricity. gloucester county was the hardest hit county in new jersey. in pennsylvania, the most peco outages are in delaware county and that number has dropped

dramatically overnight. just 1700 people are without power there. this is just in from our delaware newsroom. state police are investigating a deadly collision in claymont. troops say a dodge caravan slammed into a malibu killing the person at the wheel. the driver of the minivan is hospitalized with serious injuries naamans road is expected to be closed for several hours. developing at 9:00 a.m. the investigation into this inferno, flames shot from a corner grocery store and apartments in philadelphia's wynnfield section the action cam on the scene on the 1800 block of north 54th street. the blaze broke out at 2:30. this is a grocery store with apartments above it. you can see flames shooting out of the windows. >> one firefighter was transported with minor injuries and ankle injury transported to

the hospital. five families were evacuated as a precaution. >> it took crews nearly 2 1/2 hours to bring that fire under control. the search has intensified for david sweat, he is the lone escaped convict on the run in upstate new york. police killed richard matt during an armed confrontation 20 miles south near the canadian border. there's no sign of sweat authorities have no reason to believe he would have partlied partlied -- parted with matt prior to shooting. matt's half brother was speaking out. >> i was hoping this was the outcome, i can only think about the man who threatened to kill me and killed other people and escaped. >> reporter: police are urging

the head of homeland security has a new warning for americans heading into the fourth of july holiday. jah johnson is urging people to be watchful and prepared in the wake of the attacks in tunisia and france and kuwait. remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. we're learning about the gunman behind the deadly attack at the tunisian beach. he pulled a gun from an umbrella and opened fire killing 39 people. he was shot on a killed by

for smoke it is believed they are corrections officers. a teenager is recovering after being hit by a car in north philadelphia near north broad and oxford. the initial reports is that the girl was 14 years old. medics rushed her to hanheman hospital. we're told her injuries are serious, but not believed to be life threatening. the car stayed at the scene. the southbound lanes of broad street were shut down while police investigated. a delaware county woman is making a plea for help. she is searching for the man who killed her only brother. dann cuellar reports this is not the first time violence devastated her family. >> he was the most compassionate person. >> reporter: we met sharon conroy at the memorial garden for the families of violence in upper chichester. her brother tom is memorialized as an eagles and phillies fan

of the delaware river this is the same area that's under the flood watch. you can see from malvern exton all this area picking up light rain. route 1, the schuylkill expressway, pennsylvania turnpike all getting a little wet at this point. and again there's more activity across south jersey and delaware, all this picks up in intensity as the day wears on. dover, 70 degrees, millville 69. allentown, 67. trenton, 69. reading coming in at 67, the poconos barely cracking 60 degrees at this hour, a little bit chilly up in the mountains. satellite and radar we're watching this area of low pressure here, you can kind of see that little counter clockwise swirl that comma-shaped cloud that will push east across the keystone state. we have two areas of low pressure one developing across richmond virginia. they converge on the area overnight tonight and it will

pull away tomorrow. tomorrow we'll see a combination of sun and clouds, maybe a late-day shower, but it will be isolated in nature. today we're looking at a widespread shield of moisture covering the entire delaware valley from start to finish. later this afternoon you'll see it picks up in coverage and intensity. by 6:30 we're picking up the gusty thunderstorms again. the storm prediction center has parts of our area under enhanced risk for severe weather. that will not be anything remotely close to what we experienced tuesday, but he there's the possibility some of storms could contain winds of 55 to 60 miles per hour. that's the exception not the rule. this will be mainly a rain event and the possibility of flash flooding. sunday afternoon combination of sun and clouds, pop-up shower. rainfall totals, the model is going bonkers with predicted amounts, # -- 3 inches in lang.

>> reporter: amongst the hemlock trees, the message is beyond the basics of adopting animals. hemlock edge started as a foster-based rescue in june 2013. they have saved 200 animals. as word spreads the rescue hopes to add a store front that will provide training tips while uniting families with a friend. >> providing the local community with an outlet where they can take their dogs and have people would whole help them. . missy is ready to make an impression. she is a pit lab mix. hannah was a tray picked up by animal control eating trash from a fast food restaurant. she is well fed now and at 9
