difficult few days for those still recovering from tuesday's storm. saturday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is another night of wet weather across the region. the rain fell steadily, heavy at times, making driving difficult. and a flood watch is still in effect. we have team coverage of tonight's storm. annie mccormick is live in center. center. but we begin with melissa magee with the latest on what we can expect next. melissa. >> sarah, the good news is the bulk of that heavy flooding rain is starting to depart to our north and east with the showers still persist for much of delaware lehigh valley. you do notice the pocket moving across lancaster and berks county. but i do want to go in a little tighter on the east of philadelphia. so if you're in woodbury, we still have a little bit of light to moderate rainfall. same thing for medford lakes berlin hammonton. as you move over into chatsworth and speedwell, we are dealing

with moderate pockets of moisture but a the love it departing to our north and east. a flash-flood warning stays up until 12:30 in the morning on sunday. these locations, the red shaded counties here, have already seen anywhere from 2 to 3 inches of moisture. for cumberland up to gloucester, camden atlantic, burlington and also ocean counties, again right through the overnight hours. the moisture even report of some strong showers and storms. so the storm report, worton and rock hall, reports of trees being knocked down. newport in cumberland county 3.1 inches of rain reported and as a result of that, you had flooded roadways and also buena in atlantic county, route 40 was flooded and blocked off in that location. so we'll talk about what we can expect as we go throughout the rest of tonight. that flood watch for philadelphia and areas to the west stays up until 5:00 in the morning. rainfall 1 to 2 inches, locally higher amounts than that like we've already seen in cumberland county. the rain is tapering to showers. and it will get windy at the

"action news" reporter annie mccormick is live now in center city with that part of our coverage. hi annie. >> reporter: hi, sarah. that's right. it's been relentless all day. however, right now in center city, the rainfall is still steady for the first time today, it is a light rainfall. now, there have been a canlation of some eventing, like the fireworks display for the tall ship show. however, many people still said they couldn't stay indoors. nonstop rain doused center city. people out for a night on the town held on tight to their umbrellas. the wind knocked down this fence at 19th and terry and along pence landing. it was time to trade summer shorts and flip-flops for rain gear. >> i wish it was summer out.

[ laughter ] >> this doesn't feel like summer? >> windy? wet? not much more i can say about it. >> i drove my mother all home and i got dollar store ponchos and said let's go see the tall ships. >> reporter: they planned to celebrate this 8-year-old's birthday but settled for a tour of the tall ships without the fanfare. >> we had cake and ice cream and then we came down here and got soaked. >> reporter: happy birthday to you, huh? and they found a perk. no lines to see the ships docked on the delaware. >> who would come down here in this weather but us? >> reporter: and across the river, the susquehanna center in camden, dave matthews is playing tonight. we talked to a couple can of people soldiering on through. >> i have an umbrella that doesn't seem to be work right now. >> reporter: this is what the union game looked like. fans made the best of it. and some stuck it out hoping for a break in the weather.

>> if it weren't for my family, i wouldn't be here today. >> reporter: heavy wind gusts have let up and the rain is also letting up. and that fireworks display at the tall ships is expected to be rescheduled for tomorrow night. reporting live in center city annie mccormick channel 6 action news. >> thank you. just as power was being restored for many people, today's rain has knocked even more offline. today's outage numbers are up from yesterday. peco says more than 17,000 people are now without power. montgomery had less than --s. had less than 100 outages last night but that number has grown to more than 2400. atlantic city electric is still a big trouble spot with 36,000 people remaining in the dark. one of the hardest hit areas is gloucester county where thousands are still without power tonight. "action news" reporter trish hartman takes us to one local community where residents are receiving help while waiting for their power to return.

>> reporter: red cross and other volunteers were out here all day at kingsley regional high school giving out water and ice to people who have been without power since tuesday. bags of ice and cases of water were loaded into trunks. >> you go into wawa and different places buying the essentials you need, and everybody wants water, of course. >> reporter: then folks drove back to their homes settling in for another night without power. >> long and tiring. no electric since tuesday. >> you don't know how much you need electricity till you don't have it. >> reporter: after tuesday's straight-line winds brought down trees and power lines throughout south jersey, thousands are still without electricity in gloucester county and are growing weary. >> i haven't seen no electric trucks nowhere. >> reporter: american red cross and county agents are giving out supplies and trying to help people get by until the lights come back on. >> we're providing by having the mobile phones that can be recharged. they can come in and get something to drink. we have food there we're offering.

>> reporter: the power came back on just as this man was headed out the door. so he says he's stocking up for the next storm. >> it's like, hooray, it's great. >> reporter: yeah. >> it's something you can't live without. >> reporter: while most people are desperate, we managed to find one person who says he's managing just fine. >> there's just so much out there, you got be patient. because they got to get everybody. >> reporter: volunteers will be out here again tomorrow giving out ice and water and officials say they will continue to do so as long as they're needed. atlantic city electric officials say they hope to have all of their customers back online tomorrow or by monday at the latest. trish hartman, "channel 6 action news." for the latest on severe weather, check out 6abc.com/weather. our images will let you know exactly what's coming and when. the "action news" weather team keeps you up to date with the very latest information. authorities in new york have intensified their search for david sweat one day after they killed his fellow prison escapee

richard matt. state policemaned roadblocks as choppers searched from above in an area about 30 miles west of the prison. sweat and matt escaped three weeks ago. police say there were no sightings of sweat during yesterday's shoot-out with matt. but they say they have no reason to believe the two were not together. an official brief on the richard matt shooting tells abc news that matt appeared to be acting intoxicated at the time he was shot by authorities. wedding bells are ringing across the country one day after the u.s. supreme court ruled that same-sex couples can get married in all 50 states. but some states say they need more guidance before they can begin giving out marriage licenses to gay couples. mississippi and louisiana are holding off as are some counties in texas and tennessee. in new orleans disappointed couples were turned away at the clerk's office where they were told louisiana's ban remains in effect until a decision by an appeals court.

by a shark off the coast of north carolina's outer banks. it was the second shark attack in two days and the sixth in two weeks in north carolina. the 18-year-old was bitten on his calf buttocks and both hands. on friday, a 47-year-old man was bitten off hatteras island. several children have been the victims of shark attacks along north carolina's coast this month including a 13-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy who both lost limbs. in south carolina's capitol today, an activist scaled the flagpole and removed the confederate flag, which flies above the statehouse. 30-year-old bree newsome climbed up the 30-foot pole and removed the flag just after dawn. police were waiting below and quickly took her into custody. the controversial banner which is protected by state law was raised again less than an hour later. the city of charleston south carolina, held funerals today for three more victims of the church massacre. cynthia heard, taanza sanders,

and suzy jackson were laid to rest. mourners packed the emanual a.m.e. church. mayor joe riley said the community is sending a powerful message. >> you the family and this community of prayer and love, has sent a desperately needed message to the world and that is you respond to hate with love. >> activist jesse jackson was among the mourners today. philadelphians rallied to show solidarity with the people of charleston south carolina. today in north philadelphia, the philadelphia coalition for real justice called for serious discussions on race and violence in america. the group then met up with another from the united states social forum for a march that went down broad street.

it's been more than three years since a mother of three has been heard from. and her parents are desperate for your help. here's our rick williams with tonight's crime fighter's report. >> reporter: susan prima verree hasn't heard from her daughter jill in over three years. >> she stopped contacting, and i started to put my feelers out to friends and whatnot. and nobody heard from her. >> reporter: the now 30-year-old was last seen thursday april 12th, 2012, talking to a friend at the intersection of a and allegheny in philadelphia's kensington section. her mother says primavera has a history of being bipolar and involved in drugs. but she also says none of that matters. >> i just want to tell her to come home. that's all i need. i just want her to come home. >> reporter: primavera has three daughters and her family says they miss her. >> they're getting old enough now. they do know that we're the

grandparents and that they do have a mom and they do know that mom is missing. >> reporter: primavera is described as a white female, 5'5", about 140 pounds. at the time of her disappearance, she had blonde hair with red highlights. she also has a couple of tattoos, one on her right arm is a picture of jesus. and on the back of her neck is a flower that reads "gina grandmom." >> if anybody has seen her, just reach out and tell us, and if anybody has any information on her, i mean, please just let us know. >> reporter: as an added incentive, the citizens crime commission is administering a $5,000 reward for the information on the whereabouts of primavera. all you need to do is call 215-546-tips. all calls will remain anonymous. for crime fighters, i'm rick williams, "channel 6 action news."

double scan radar. and we've focused a lot on the moisture across south jersey camden gloucester, burlington, even ocean counties. moderate pockets there, but it's starting to lift out of our viewing areas. so i will go in a little tighter north and west of philadelphia for berks county. you do notice those showers for womelsdorf, also northern lancaster county lebanon bethel and also if you move to the east in leaseport and -- leesport and fleetwood. this will depart as we go throughout the rest of the overnight hours and the second haft of the weekend definitely looking much better. until that time however we have that flood watch. it's for philadelphia, our western suburbs, also northern delaware there in new castle county. some locations have seen anywhere from one to two inches of rain. and we we saw pockets in cumberland county. temperatures outside tonight does not feel like a summer day. the high in philadelphia, 71 degrees.

we have that east-northeasterly wind. it's cool in the city. just 65. 53 in the poconos. 60 in allentown. along the coast, though in wild adwood holding on to the 70s. 72 in sea isle city and dover also in the lower 70s. here's satellite 6 along with action radar. we're tracking an area of low pressure which is currently over ohio and that warm front continues to lift to the north. the cold front, by the way, still off to our west, kind of curving through the spine of the appalachians as we speak. so we have been in that warm sector throughout most of the day, which is why we have that threat of severe showers and storms across extreme southern and central delaware. future tracker 6 showing you during the overnight hours, some improvement will be on the way. the heaviest departs to north and east. and as you wake up perhaps early, 5:30, 6:00 in the morning, you do notice a little bit of wet weather to the west of philadelphia moving across reading and allentown. i would allow for light showers tomorrow morning. but after 7:00, 8:00, the

moisture will depart. clouds break for sunshine. so by 3:00 in the afternoon, we will get into the heating of the day. and there is the likelihood west of philadelphia that you could find a pop-up shower or thunderstorm with the instability overhead. nonetheless, i think most locations will stay dry and tomorrow's definitely the better half of our weekend. so improvement in the poconos tomorrow. it's still a cool day high of 66 degrees. and a stray shower by sunday afternoon. and down the shore the ocean temperature is 70. but as you head on the beach and sand, it's going to be windy but clouds and sunshine. and improved temperature coming in at 80 degrees. here's the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. clouds and sun for sunday. high up to 80 degrees. a gusty breeze is likely however. looking good on monday. sunny and nice holding at 80. and on tuesday the humidity returns with a high up to 86 degrees. a shower or thunderstorm is possible. midweek clouds and some sun and at 86. not as warm on thursday, but plenty of sunshine and at 80. friday, cloudy with a threat of an evening shower or storm, and

there. tomorrow it will be two games. only one ticket. when it rains, it pours. the phillies just can't seem to do anything right this these days. interim manager pete mackanin and the team ticked off they started today's game when the forecast called for heavy rain. mackanin is upset and so are the nationals. in the second inning, it starts pouring as expected. and after a long delay, they end up postponing it. so both teams burn their starting pitchers. adam morgan and zeeo gonzalez leaving the phillies to call up sever reno gonzalez for tomorrow's doubleheader which starts at 1:00. when they take the field under mackanin for however long it will be don't expect big changes. >> we have a certain amount of talent and there's only so much we can do with them. it's easy to hang your head. you want to make excuses. you want to complain about the players or that. but you vent in the coaches' room, but at the same time when you take the field you talk to
