well, this is different. former injured flyers captain chris pronger who hasn't played in three years is traded today. that's right. at least the rest of his contract is traded to arizona along with current flyers defenseman nick grossman. in return, the fires get center sam gagner a future draft pick, and salary cap relief. gagner was drafted sixth overall in 2007. last year he scored 15 bowls. but if the sound of it gm ron hex dahl may look to dump gagner as well. here's a look at the flyers draft board on day number two. they select four formers and three goalies. they need to hit it big with this draft. hopefully these guys along with first rounders ivan prove rolf and travis connectdy may make an impact. while sarah didn't mind running out in the rain picking up our dinner tonight. thank you very much. >> you're welcome. >> she didn't mind. you could imagine. can you even imagine being out in the rain for nearly two hours tonight? the union they didn't care.

also, mother nature throws a wrench in the plans of hundreds of athletes planning to race a triathlon today. plus an unusual contest that celebrates the faces only a mother could love. but first, an intense search is underway to find the second of two escaped inmates on the run in upstate new york. yesterday, police shot and killed richard matt. tonight, more than 1000 law enforcement personnel are focusing on a 22-square-mile area near the woods where matt was found. we get the story from abc's philip minna. >> reporter: one down and one to go. tonight, the manhunt for fugitive killer david sweat is heating up. police warning sweat may be armed. >> sweat is still out there. he's considered dangerous. >> reporter: residents here on edge. >> terrifying. i've never been so scared in all my life. i had my husband look up to see. >> reporter: this after federal border agents shot and killed fellow escapee richard matt in the woods near a cabin in

malone new york, 20 miles south of the canadian border and some 45 miles west of the prison where he and sweat escaped three weeks ago. police say the trail to matt started friday here at this home where carla gerber was awoken in the middle of the night. >> two light knocks and a very hard knock. and it scared me. >> reporter: investigators finding fingerprints on the door and the handle. bob willit owns the cabin where police believe matt broke into hours later. several items inside missing. >> binoculars and two pairs of boots. >> reporter: after calling police bob says his son heard gunshots. >> how many did you hear? >> four or five. >> reporter: officers say around that same time a driver also called police claiming his camper had been shot. that's when border agents moved in. investigators say matt who had a 20-gauge shotgun with him, refused verbal commands and was shot dead. some 9s here who yeah never even handled a gun before this tell us tonight they are going out

and buying them for their proexit. philip mena, abc news, malone new york. in other news tonight, a woman was killed, a woman badly injured in a crash in claymont, delaware today. it happened shortly after 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of naamans road and darley road. police say 56-year-old debra having a noni was traveling through that intersection when another driver ran a red light and slammed into the side of her car. she was pronounced dead at the scene. her passenger 32-year-old anthony having anoni was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. they were not wearing seatbelts. the investigation into the cause of the crash continues tonight. police in camden are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and a woman injured. it happened just before 5:00 a.m. in the 1100 block of lansdowne avenue. both victims were rushed to cooper university hospital where the man was pronounced dead. so far, no arrests have been made. a firefighter was injured battling this blaze in wynnefield this morning.

firefighters were called to the 1800 block of north 54th 54th street around 2:30 this morning. they found heavy smoke coming from a grocery store. the fire spread to the adjoining apartments. the five families inside were able to get out. there's no word how the firefighter was injuring but he was transported to a hospital. investigators are now working to determine the cause of the fire. philadelphia police got a few more guns off the streets today. people could turn in weapons no questions asked, at this gun buyback at engine 38 in tacony today. in return, they received a $50 supermarket gift card. residents of hunting park spent their saturday sprucing up the neighborhood. volunteers including several children grabbed their brooms and dustpans to clean up the 3400 block of "f" street. neighbors say keeping their streets looking good helps them -- helps to keep them safe as well. there's a new store in south philadelphia where you can pick up items for your home at a deep

"action news" reporter annie mccormick has the story. >> reporter: habitat for humanities helps the organization fulfill their original mission. >> all the profits from the restore go to helping us build and repair homes. we've built 184 homes. this year we'll build 15 homes, and we're going to repair 100. >> reporter: joyce collins came down from germantown before doors opened to donate. >> i know that people need supplies like i do at times, and i'm sure somebody can use one of the doors that i'm bringing back instead of throwing it in the trash, somebody can use it at their house. >> reporter: and the gross family from olney is in the middle of a major home renovation. >> it's a give-give situation. we're getting but we're also giving. and the restore and habitat for humanities does some fantastic work. >> reporter: inside the restore is the real deal with a wide

the heaviest rain and storms over the past few days meant changes for a sprint triathlon this morning here in fairmount park. competitors in the johnson and johnson and tri-rock philadelphia triathlon were kept out of the schuylkill river. instead, racers competed in a run-bike-run event. the swim portion for tomorrow's olympic distance race has also been canceled. not a good day at all for a triathlon. we're hoping for a recovery tomorrow. >> and i think we're going to get it sarah. tomorrow looks to be drier. and we might find a few sunny breaks. you can see that a lot of that heavy rain we had earlier tonight lifting off to our north and east, still some moderate pockets there in burlington and ocean county, but for the most part improvement is on the way as we go throughout the rest of the overnight hours. our high today in philadelphia just 71 degrees. so definitely a cool summer day.

north and west of town, these numbers are in the 50s and 60s. just 57 in fleetwood, center city and chester at this hour 63. and in morgueton, also in the lower 60s. down across new jersey it's 71 in surf city, same thing for the boardwalks and sea isle city. smyrna and dover 68 and 69 respectively. here's satellite 6 with action radar. we've got an area of low pressure across the ohio valley and all that moisture has been inundating much of the mid-atlantic each reach. it. continues to move on off to our north and east for the rest of tonight. so future tracker 6 has you covered. we'll go throughout the overnight hours and we do have a little bit of moisture left over^. it's really for philadelphia, points to the north and east. we'll have to watch these showers approach during the overnight hours for lancaster county. but by 7:00 in the morning, a lot 1/2 heavy rain once again across upstate new york and portions of new england and we're just left over with a few showers early tomorrow morning.

[ squealing ] from the ugly dogs to the pigs now. these little piggies listen to music. these little piggies painted like picasso and, yes the masterpieces were up for sale. a farm in bucks county hosted piggypalooza 5 today. the family today featured live music and food trucks all proceeds benefited the pig placement network an organization that promotes pigs as pets. there's much more ahead on "action news" tonight, including sports. plus an epic birthday celebration for a local woman who turned 100 years old when "action news" comes right back.

on his second day on the job, phillies' interim manager pete mackanin has a beef. even the nationals are mad at the phillies for starting today's game when the forecast called for heavy rain. despite a nasty forecast the fillsz decided to start today's game at 3:05 and it burned both starters adam morgan and gio gonzalez. and the catch doesn't count either because in the second inning it starts pouring as expected after nearly a 90-minute delay. they opt for a doubleheader starting tomorrow. so does mackanin think these games could be an audition for him? does he want to be the manager of the phillies going forward? >> my ambitions to manage at this level have subsided recently over the last few years. and i'm happy with what i'm doing. i wouldn't say i wouldn't want to manage at this level. but it is what it is. you can't -- i'm not pushing --
