she worked at the chestnut hill twice a week. >> reporter: this morning that 85-year-old woman was found murdered inside her home on the 300 block of rumford road in the east mount airy section of the city. investigators say she was found with her throat slashed and her vehicle missing from the garage where it was usually kept. mr. king says the most disturbing part is that he and his family made it a point to keep a watchful eye on their elderly neighbor and help her. >> usually see when there's people going over there. i've gone over there myself a couple times to figure out who are you, why are you here at quarter 8:00 at night or whatever it is you're doing. >> reporter: live on the scene. if mr. king looks familiar to some of you he's the former philadelphia prison commissioner. as far as the victim we're withholding her name until we're sure her family has been notified. her vehicle is a older mod today gray nissan sedan with black tape at the bottom of the car. neighbors tell us the victim has an 84-year-old person

described as a friend who lives here too but he's been in the hospital over the past few days being treated for an unknown medical condition. homicide detectives remain on the scene. we expect to have much more on "action news" starting at 6:00. reporting live from east mount airy, walter perez, channel6 "action news." brian. >> walter thanks very much. a child is among the six people hurt in a six car accident today in camden county. four of those vehicles were heavily damaged. police say a ford pup rear-endedpickuptruck. it happened at hayes mill road in winslow township. a young girl and several other people were airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. four vehicles were taken by plans. >> one of the occupants in the mini cooper was trapped in the vehicle also was extricated by the fire department and transported. >> st accident investigators collected evidence from the wreck for hours today. the camden county prosecutors office also responded to that

scene. >> it's been almost a week since that violent storm moved through our area and knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of people but the cleanup is still not over. ac electric told "action news" they still have about 3500 people without power in gloucester county alone. and one local mayor is blaming governor chris christie for not doing more to help. john rawlins is live in gibbstown which was one of the hardest hit areas. john, this is a very trying time for a lot of people. >> reporter: hi, nydia. it's been a long slow march to get the last thousands back online here in south jersey. tuesday's storm knocked out more atlantic electric customers than hurricane sandy back in 2012, then came saturday night's storm that added more outages to the mix. the allure of living with flashlights or even if lucky enough a small buzzing generator fading fast. dom anyone linda lived here 30 years. prior power outages lasted only a day or so. >> very frustrating.

>> the phillies began a new era today and for lots of fans that comes as welcome news. the team introduced a soon to be new president to lead that franchise moving forward. jaime apody live at citizens bank park. jamie this move has been rumored for some time. but dat team made it official. >> yeah, it will signal a change in the direction of the franchise from the top to the bottom. starts with the ownership group. john middleton is going to take more of a figurehead role for this ownership group that has been visible. andy mcfail has been hired as the team president. he'll take that helm starting in october. let's talk about mcfail phreaked s you see him a long time baseball executive who has turned around the orioles as president. he led the twins to two world series titles as gm but he has been out of baseball the last three years to travel the world after burning himself out. he says he's reenergy kneed. he'll spend the next six months as a special assistant to pat gillick and he sees plenty of potential here.

>> i know we all tend to look at things sort of in the snapshot of time. it's only natural. and right now the phillies snapshot is not that was great. even all those things as franchises accomplished over the last not too recent past, sort of gets faded in memory and looking at the current times but i really have to applaud this organization with the path that it's taken recently. i think it's the right path. >> we needed someone who had a proven track record of success. exactly what does that mean? to us the ideal candidate was someone who had won multiple world series titles but equally important had taken multiple teams over many years and successfully built them up and taken them to the post season. >> the question is what's the timetable for all this? he wouldn't give us a timetable but he does say that teams that commit to a full rebuild like the phillies are are rewarded for that and he has seen teams turn around

it. >> has been a dangerous and very scary summer so far along the east coast. this weekend more vicious shark attacks for tourists on north carolina's coastline. the fifth and sixth attacks took place over the weekends. all of the encounters happening just within the past three weeks alone. this time an 18-year-old boy is in serious condition after

he was attacked while swim tag beach in cape hatteras. he suffered injuries to one leg and both hands and had to be air lifted to a hospital. the day before that a 47-year-old man was attacked while swimming in waste deep water just 20 minutes away. experts say bait used by local fishermen at fishing piers could be one of the problems attracting sharks to the shore. >> sharks are out there. don't swim where people are fishing. don't swim around piers. >> i'm got going out as far. it's not stopping me or the kids from going in. >> this weekend in south carolina a pennsylvania man is recovering after he was attacked by a shark. he's said to be doing okay after he got bit in the foot. now, there are calls to ban shark fishing from beaches in both states and brian certainly a very scary summer with six incidents happening in north carolina alone. >> certainly scary alicia. thanks very much. a wildfire in washington state has already destroyed nearly two dozen homes less than 24 hours after it started

started. the blaze sparked yesterday afternoon in brush on the edge of wenochi but it quickly spread. 24 structures have burned including two businesses and several hundred homes have been evacuated. firefighters from across that state are now battling the flames. >> the supreme court ruled today that states can continue using a controversial drug for lethal injections. the justices ruled five to four that it does not violate a constitutional ban on cruel or unusual punishment. six states use the drug as an option for lethal injection executions u but last year excuses in arizona ohio and oklahoma took longer than usual and raised concerns that the drug did not work as intended. there was a big development to come out of the losing side of today's supreme court ruling. for the first time two justices said they think the death penalty itself is not constitutional. >> shut down its banks and

stock markets for the next six days as questions continue over the country's debt. prime minister referendum in the meantime there is a limit on the amount of money greek citizens can withdraw from atm's and there's also a rush on gasoline today with some stations saying they will not accept credit cards. that situation in greece having a disastrous affect to your home today. this is the single worst day for american stocks of the year and you see it here red arrows across-the-board the dow tumbling 350 points today nasdaq off 122 points the s & p down 44 points at day. the u.s. navy using an outdated computer system and it's costing taxpayers millions of dollars. the navy is running windows xp which is 14 years old now.

in philadelphia and across much of our viewing area. remember in may last month we were desperate for rain. the grass was turning brown. in philadelphia only an inch for the entire movement the month of june so far in philadelphia we have had over 7-inches of rain. we've had more than 6-inches in addition compared to what we had in may and we will maybe tag on a little bit more of that precipitation before the month ends for philadelphia. as we look at satellite and radar, this system we are tracking, it is low pressure, it is a warm front it's bringing some severe weather in parts of can kentucky and the ohio valley. this will race off to the north and east and bring some rain for some of us during your day on tuesday but not everyone is going to get wet. so, for tonight a few clouds, very comfortable 60. allentown 66, philadelphia, millville 62. the humidity starts to go back up here tomorrow. that's going to throw clouds especially west of philadelphia and southeastern pennsylvania some sunshine, south and east at 7:30 in the morning and then as we get

into the early afternoon hours that's when we can see things firing up, downpours, a couple thunderstorms. west of philadelphia but still dry in southern new jersey and delaware and notice that most of those downpours through 7 o'clock will be confined from i-95 north and west, drier south and east for your tuesday. so, it's really all about location tomorrow whether you'll see a mixture of sun and clouds or you'll see some of those pop-ups. your four day at 4:00 pop-ups 85 degrees, very humid on wednesday and thursday and both days there will be those numerous downpours and thunderstorms developing with temperatures in the upper 70's but neither day is a complete washout as it's looking right now and we could squeeze out friday dry with sun and clouds, a little bit lower humidity at 84 degrees. and what about the fourth of july? we'll give that you answer in the seven-day forecast, guys coming up in the next half hour. >> what a tease. >> only 20's minutes. we can do it. >> adam thank you.

>> ♪♪ >> a south jersey barn went up in flames this morning in gloucester county. chopper six saw the huge smoke coming from that barn at route 45 and monroeville road in south harrison township. the barn was behind house. fire crews had to bring in tanker trucks to get water to the scene. there are no reports of any injuries this afternoon and no word just yet what startd that fire. >> police in south philadelphia are looking for the man who broke into two separate businesses over the past two weeks. both crimes were caught on camera. the first happened on june 15th insides rita's water ice at 19th and oregon. the second crime happened six days later at the oriental chinese restaurant on the 1800 block of south broad street. in both cases the man broke in and took money from the register.

that he is already answering at least some of them. one day after his bloody capture david sweat is recovering in this hospital and talking with investigators. revealing that after breaking out of this northern new york prison more than three weeks ago he and fellow fugitive richard matt planned to head to mexico. governor andrew cuomo saying sweat admitted when prison worker joyce mitchell didn't show up with the getaway car the men instead decided to walk towards canada and there just a mile and a half from the border is where sweat was caught yesterday afternoon. >> he was just about at the tree line. if he would have gotten that tree line they probably wouldn't have got him. >> reporter: before he could get there sergeant jay cook spotted sweat and shot the convicted cop killer twice as he took off running. >> i heard a couple gun shots. within another 30 seconds the place was flooded with police cars. >> reporter: the takedown happening two days after matt was shot and can killed by officers. sweat telling investigators the two had split up last week

to an arrest in a school break in. police say someone stole a number of ipads and computers from saint ignatius of loyal la elementary school after cutting the locks. vernon odom is live at the school in west philadelphia with more. good evening, vern. >> reporter: good evening, nydia. the fop is going all out to try to help this school in west philadelphia which was hit very hard earlier this month but some heartless criminals. some time overnight june 9th into the next morning this school the saint ignatius school was burglarized. 30 ipads, three dell laptop computers and three mac book pro computers were taken. the culprit cut locks and lanes to get to the gear being used here by students and faculty. this was the dave school before the summer break. >> the last day of school was a downer for us as we brought the children into church to give out awards and to wish

you very much. accuweather now. a sunny start to the work week but more unsettled weather coming our way. >> we knew it couldn't last forever. >> we had two days of dry weather and then we're talking about more rain coming in. today is probably the nicest day of the week hopefully you can get out to enjoy it. live on sky6 in cape may a lot of folks on the shore there but if you can look far in the distance there is a red flag blowing. we have some red flag warnings because of dangerous rip currents yesterday dangerous rip currents today. there have been a lot water rescues over the last couple of days. tomorrow 79 degrees. the air temperature the dewpoint 59. water temperature at 72. and we are tracking a system in the ohio and the tennessee valley. it does have some severe weather with it but for us looks like it will just be heavy scattered downpours with a couple thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon just adding to these very impressive rainfall totals we've seen this month. in fact wilmington it's been the second wettest june on record, the same for atlantic

city. the sixth wettest in allentown and although it's the tenth wettest in philadelphia's history, we've seen over 7-inches of rain this month and we could see more rain before the month ends. we'll talk about the timing of that in that full accuweather 7-day along with that holiday weekend. >> want to know about the fourth. >> you'll find out soon enough. >> thanks adam. >> thank you. investigators in taiwan say they're looking into the possibility that a cigarette butt or spark caused that deadly fire at a water park party over the weekend. nearly 500 people were hurt when colored powder sprayed from the stage caught fire on saturday. one person died. more than 400 are still hospitalized. police have recommended that criminal charges been filed now against the organizer of that party as well as two technicians. authorities in tunisia are interrogating several people in connection with friday's terror attack that left 38 people dead. the person close to the investigation says four people were arrested today. three others were taken into

custody yesterday. police say the attacker, a 24-year-old student opened fire at this beach resort. he was then killed by police. authorities say he acted alone during the attack but had accomplice whose gave him assistance beforehand. >> back here a barbershop and two homes in delaware county were raided as officials busted a methamphetamine ring. the path that i did. as you can see i'm a failure. i disappointed my family. >> well, bolger told the girls that he took the wrong path in life and that his life was wasted and spent foolishly. he spent 16 years as one of the nation's most wanted fugitives before his capture in 2011. he is right now serving two life sentences. >> and those girls won that competition, you can see why. a man is in custody in georgia after police say he stole a hearse with a dead body inside. the hearse was parked outside a hospital morgue in atlanta yesterday. the funeral home says the suspect attacked the driver as he was loading a body into the back, then snatched the keys and took off. >> he was in shock and all like what's going on. clearly this guy was just standing there. >> police say the suspect ditched the hearse after crashing it through a fence. he then forced his way into another suv and took off. authorities caught up with him later that afternoon and took him into custody. they think he may have been a patient who escaped from the

hospital. here at the big board with the big talker a female ceo is raising big questions about workplace equality between men and women. she says she had to hide her pregnancy to attract investors and keep her business alive and her story is going wildly viral on social media today. 33-year-old thalia goldstein launched a successful match site called three day rule. she worried many investors wouldn't take a pregnant ceo seriously so she covered up. >> i called up a bunch of my advisers and asked them without telling them i was pregnant if they would invest in a pregnant ceo. they told me they would not its a huge red flag. >> so, she hid her pregnancy and she did get those investors. well she's now pregnant with her second child due in november. she says this time she's taking a different approach and by the way everyone knows about it this time. speaking of kids, any

parent out there knows that the birth of a child is truly a miracle. but this woman's experience in california will be quite the story to tell the little one. this is amber and at nine months pregnant she went into labor and tried to take a shortcut to her parents' house. but she got lost, ran out of gas, had no cell service and so she gave birth to her daughter all by herself in the national forest but wait, it doesn't end there. she was stranded for four days with little water and only four apples in the car, all while fighting off swarms of bees and mosquitos. she finally started a fire that got the attention of responders who rescued her and little marisa there. both mom and baby were hospitalized and expected to make a full recovery. that's unbelievable. finally, because all couples in america can now say i do, ben and jerry's is celebrating by saying i dough. in honor of the supreme court's ruling legalizing gay marriage throughout the

left lane getting by here on the northbound side of route one the super highway it's not a very pleasant ride. i think you want to stick with northbound 95 through bucks county instead. in delaware county, a couple issues this afternoon. in springfield township right by the mall watch out for a crash along sproul road 320 at sheffield drive. another downed tree in nether providence along providence road. chestnut street or bullings lane some alternates. normal delays on the schuylkill and neiffer. a vehicle broke down in collingswood along 130 southbound approaching haddon avenue by the dunkin' donuts. right lane is out of commission. watch out for a crash in beverly along broad street at pennsylvania avenue and we still have the motorcycle that ran into the tree in maurice river township along taylor avenue near harriet avenue but let's end with some good news. finally, finally for those of you down the shore trying to get between sea sea isle and avalon on friday the town sends inlet bridge reopened. about a month behind schedule but it's back in business now. welcome news for people down

now. but we look to the west. you can see clouds increasing just to the east of pittsburgh rain also falling apart at the onset as it's pushing into that drier air. we are dealing with severe weather. you see a tornado watch for the parts of the ohio valley and also parts of kentucky. that does not slide in tonight. tonight just a few clouds, staying very comfortable, 60 to 66. that humidity will slowly start to increase tomorrow as a warm front arrives from the west so first thing tomorrow morning, it is brighter south and east and it is cloudier to the north and west. then we'll see those downpours and a few thunderstorms erupting tomorrow afternoon. this is at 4 o'clock. and again the target zone for tomorrow would be wilmington, philadelphia trenton all points north and west. if you're at the shore tomorrow, it should stay dry through much of the day with a mixture of sunshine and clouds. because you are farther removed from that warm front coming in from the south and west so it's brighter east, 85 degrees. those afternoon storms popping west. but if you're at the shore

tomorrow you hit the sand, a moderate risk for rip currents again. we've had many rescues over the last couple of days because of the choppy water so watch that. despite that it's 78 with sunshine and just a few clouds. and it's that southeasterly wind piling up that water at six to 12 miles an hour. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, warm with some of those downpours and storms developing tomorrow. again mainly west of the city and 85. very humid with still thunderstorms and downpours around at 87 especially in the first half of the day on wednesday. and then thursday afternoon another system comes in, humid, 87 with some pop-ups around. we could squeeze friday out dry as of right now at 84 degrees but another system arrives in time for the fourth in the afternoon with some thunderstorm threats at 86 degrees. and then it dries outsin, partly sunny, 88 and warmer and more humid on monday of 89 degrees. so, it is rather unsettled as we go into the upcoming holiday weekend but neither one of those days is a complete washout. so we could salvage part of
