afternoon warming convective qualities will start to pop up some thunderstorms and some of those could produce drenching downpours because the air is a little more humid today than it was yesterday. as we take look at temperatures right now 68 degrees. little bit on the muggy side but not too bad yet. 63 degrees is your temperature in allentown. 69 in wilmington. and on or about 70 down along the boardwalks in case you're planning that early boardwalk stroll. 66 by 6 o'clock. 71 in philadelphia by 8 o'clock. a nice start. mild. maybe a little bit on the sticky side. as we roll through afternoon it gets warm and more humid than it was yesterday. 76 degrees by 9 o'clock. 81 by noon. and then by 3 o'clock 86. that is going to be your high more or less around 3 o'clock before we dip to 81 by 6 o'clock. and any time after about lunchtime beginning in the western suburbs and then pushing into philadelphia, there is that chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm and again karen, some of them could produce gusty winds and drenching downpours. more on all of that on future tracker six. for now roads looking tranquil i hope. >> yeah for the most part they are but at this hour we always

have the construction out there that's bound to cause you problems. so can he continue with the construction on the vine street expressway. we're looking eastbound. it's still closed. westbound has reopened as you head towards the schuylkill at this point and crews will return again tonight at 11 o'clock. all the construction scheduled to be cleared right about now so we'll keep an eye on that one. looking live on the schuylkill expressway approaching the blue route we've got no delays coming in from paoli or king of prussia. you could see the roads in this area are clear and dry. no morning weather related problems right now but nonetheless we've got an accident in monroeville. this is in gloucester county right along monroeville road at ridgewood road. watch for that. emergency road work going on right now in newark in new castle county, upper pike creek is shut down and that's between route two and old coach road. if you're in this area stick to polly drummond hill road instead and the burlington bristol bridge still closed for maintenance and that's scheduled to open right about now so i think crews are in the process of clearing out and that will be through thursday night this week. in the meantime stick to the turnpike connector bridge. crews are leaving right now so

you could take it at the moment matt. >> thanks karen. a double shooting left a man and pregnant woman wounded. doctors were unable to save her baby. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live near the scene of this in the city's west oak lane section. katherine. >> reporter: that's right, matt that pregnant woman was taken immediately into surgery but we're told she lost her baby. she remains at the hospital in critical condition. a man believed to be her boyfriend and the baby's father is in stable condition in the hospital. this happened right over there. there was a parked car there by that utility pole in the 7300 block of thouron avenue. when police arrived here around 10:00 last night they found her sitting in that parked car. the 32-year-old woman had been shot in her lower back. a 46-year-old man had been lying on the sidewalk here in west oak lane. he was shot multiple times in his legs. witnesses told police they heard some sort of argument, then gun shots were fired. at least four were fired. police believe the shooting

happened outside the vehicle. >> after being shot we believe the female jumped into the passenger front seat of the vehicle. we didn't find any bullet holes or any strike parks in the vehicle. the vehicle's engine was still running upon police arrival. >> reporter: two men fled the scene but police so far don't have a detailed description of them. they did tow that car that that woman was sitting in. that is going to be searched for evidence. we are live in west oak lane, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> thanks katherine. homicide detectives continue to search for clues in the murder of an 85-year-old woman inside her philadelphia home. regina brunner was found in her bedroom on rumford road in east mount airy yesterday. police say someone beat her stabbed her multiple times and slit her throat. there was no sign of forced entry. authorities are also searching for brunner's silver 2007 toyota corolla which was missing from her garage.

>> triple digit temperatures are making a fire fight really hard in washington state. right now that fire is only 10 percent contained. dozens of homes and businesses have been destroyed and evacuation orders are in place. let's go over to erin o'hearn. she's covering the latest. she is live in our sat sat center. >> reporter: good morning, tam. this does appear to be the wild west. scorching temperatures, dry conditions and high winds are making this a very difficult fight. now, this all started back on sunday when residents of several hundred homes fled when a blaze erupted outseed wenatchee. embers from the fire reached businesses sparking industrial fires sending thick black toxic smoke into the downtown area. fortunately there were no reports of serious injuries as the fire burned four square miles east of seattle. >> embers were going from one house to another catching the roofs on fire.

>> you grab your family. >> kids. >> kids and our animals stayed with friends across the river and watched this area burn all night. >> reporter: now, the governor has issued an emergency proclamation that allows the quick uses of state resources to fight the wildfires. now, the cause of the fire originally has not been identified as of yet. for now we're live in the sat center, erin o'hearn, channel6 "action news." tam back to you. >> erin thank you for that. it is now 5:06 and the 12th lawsuit has been filed in the wake of the crash of an amtrak train in philadelphia on may 12th. the family of maryland businessman robert gildersleeve jr. filed a wrongful death lawsuit yesterday accusing amtrak of negligence and outrageous behavioral the ntsb still hopes to learn why an engineer was going more than a hundred miles an hour in a 50 miles an hour zone. >> so, david's just back from changing the oil and the sparkplugs in storm tracker six radar. >> right, because we are going to need that high technology this afternoon. we'll see some thunderstorms

pop up. storm tracker six right now though shows you we're dry a-little bit of precipitation out to the north and west of pottsville. we don't have to worry about that just yet. as we take a look outside we have some sun developing early. as we go through morning the sun will give way to increasing clouds and eventually we'll see some of that action out of the west. 68 in philadelphia, 69 in wilmington. a tad more humid this morning than it was yesterday but not too bad. 63 in allentown, 62 in trenton and 70-degree readings down on the boardwalk early this morning. as we take a look at future tracker six sun will mix with clouds and an approaching frontal boundary. by as soon as 12 o'clock we'll pop showers up perhaps in the lehigh valley but particularly in the western suburbs and there might be some developing thunderstorms by the time i'm on the air at 12 o'clock today. between 12:00 and 1:00 and up to 3:00 there is that chance of thunderstorms developing. again these don't hit everywhere all at once but where they do they could produce drenching downpours and maybe some gusty winds. this one right here on the model looks pretty good to the

north and west of philadelphia. then we go to 6 o'clock and there's a couple more scattered cells around the city. more stuff out to the north and west. we can't totally rule out additional showers and thunderstorms heading into the early evening in and around philadelphia but you can see as we go through six to college clock most11 o'clock most of this is dying down. risks will be lightning and downpours but there's a moderate risk of strong gusty winds. some of these storms could be gusty as is always the case with thunderstorms i would like you to take cover indoors on the lower floors if you see thunder or you see that sky looking particularly threatening. while there's a low chance of hail an tornado the storm prediction center isn't totally ruling out a twister in one of these cells very in the midatlantic states,, too and we would be included in that. in allentown today warm and humid, afternoon thunderstorms possible, a high of 80 degrees. bit more humid than it was yesterday certainly. down the shore actually not a bad day as most of our thunderstorm activity will probably be inland but we do have an issue down the shore

and that is rip currents. we had some rescues in the water yesterday and the national weather service warning for a repeat of that so if you're going to be swimming at the shore today definitely do it on the beach. that's important for to you keep in mind. warm and humid then today. afternoon thunderstorms possible in philadelphia with a high of 86 degrees. winds out of the southeast at eight to 16 and this is how we are going get there. seventy one by 8 o'clock, 80 by 11 o'clock and 85 by 2 o'clock. your high of 86 is at 3 o'clock this afternoon. your seven-day from accuweather, so today 86 degrees, warm a-little bit more humid. those afternoon thunderstorms could kick you around a little bit. tonight for the union at ppl park the cup match with dc united we're hoping that that contest stays dry but you have to allow for a possible thunderstorm. and then humid again tomorrow, 87 with some more storms possible and it may still be somewhat unsettled on thursday way high of 87. not a washout in through here but a chance of it being a little bit unsettled. best chance of rain on friday would be in the morning. otherwise high pressure makes a brief visit giving as you

what about the pennsylvania turnpike? we have construction that is cleared in that area. some and rowville road at ridgewood road we still have that accident to watch for so be careful of that one in gloucester county restricting traffic. here's an update in gloucester county still at this point we've got the ramp from 295 to harmony road, that's exit 17 closed down. this is due to last tuesday's storms. a week later we're still dealing with restrictions there. exit 15 and scenery opened 16 reopened. harmony road mee mains closed in greenwich township one of the areas hardest hit still dealing with the traffic there this morning. let's say good morning to alex. he's a member of our 6abc team. hello a pothole on the road in darby road. that was a really warm welcome from this crew. 68 trees in philadelphia right now, 62 in millville, 63 in al town looking good but warm and humid today with a strong thunderstorm later on matt. >> thanks, karen. authorities believe the two convicted killers who escaped from a northern new

york prison and eluded a manhunt for three weeks were actually improvising. david sweat talked with investigators from his hospital bed yesterday. the state police sergeant shot and captured him on sunday. sweat says after breaking out of the clinton correctional facility he and fellow fugitive richard matt planned to go to mexico but they headed to canada instead saying their get away driver who they say was prison worker joyce mitchell got cold feet. >> would kill mitchell's husband then get in the car and drive to mexico on the theory that mitchell was in love with one or both of them. >> reporter: sweat also told detectives that matt was slowing him down so the two separated five days ago. police shot and killed matt on friday about 16 miles from where sweat was apprehended. sweat is expected to remain in the hospital for several daysly. >> philadelphia police say they have one of two men in custody in connection with a shot gun shooting. 11 people were injured while

attending a cookout on june 20th on the 4100 block of ogden street in west philadelphia. 23-year-old dominic lamar turned himself in to detectives yesterday. police say 23-year-old suspect kylief harley is still on the run. there's a $10,000 reward for his arrest and conviction. for the past couple of weeks wilmington police have increased their foot patrols in an effort to reduce violent crimes and during a community meeting last night the attorney general revealed it's been working. the foot patrols are the result of a grant that the city of wilmington received but it's set to run out soon. they're hoping to get a few additional funding weeks from lawmakers. >> phillies continue a four game series with the brewers at citizens bank park tonight. the brewers are the second worst team in baseball the phillies are the worst and last night they showed us why. the brewers scored three runs in the sixth inning registered 16 hits on their way to beating the phillies seven to four. the phillies are hoping a big shakeup in the front office will lead to a brighter

karen. we're in the 60's right now but as soon as 9 o'clock we'll be in the mid 70's, then 81 by noon and your high today is going to be 86. the big issue today after about 12 o'clock all the way into the evening the chance of some thunderstorms popping up, particularly west of philadelphia but some of them will probably make it all the way into the i-95 corridor and some of these could be strong and gusty and at the very least produce drenching downpours. in terms of severe weather for those of you traveling there is a slight risk of it all the way from southern new york state through our entire region and then back down through atlanta and all the way basically over to about the mississippi river and beyond. dallas look like it's okay. denver probably okay as that pattern is north of you there. and if there was going to be a tornado, it would actually be right here in the northeast or perhaps back out in the midwest. on the big board right now at the airport we've got all green aircraft none rain in any of our most commonly traveled destinations. those problems i just talked about tam are probably more during the afternoon. >> thank you david. going to health check it's sad to think of children

being assaulted and sadder still to learn that mostly it happens at home. a new survey took a look at the issue. results show the youth are exposed to violence in extensive ways. among the key findings 22 percent of kids reported being assault by a sibling. over 40 percent had one direct experience of violence crime or abuse. the results are from 4,000 randomly selected children and their parents up to the age of 18. for the first time the american heart association is backing a device for the treatment of stroke. the device called a stent retriever is used to open clogged arteries. most strokes are caused by a blood clot in the brain. however, people are only candidates to get this if they seek treatment within a few hours of observing symptoms. this is the first new treatment to be backed by the group in nearly 20 years. >> u.s. stock futures indicate wall street could recover some of the losses from yesterday's
