governor chris christie makes it official. he's running for president in 2016. >> good morning everyone, good to see you. 6:30 on this tuesday. david and karen are weather and traffic. >> we are starting to see more cloud cover filter through the region right now. a little brighter by the east coast. take a look at the satellite and radar imagery. you can see that cloud cover getting a little thicker across the region. there's showers to our west and eventually particularly during the afternoon we'll be on the lookout for some showers and perhaps a couple gusty thunderstorms. for now we're okay. 69 degrees. comfortable enough just a little bit on the humid side. 67 in wilmington, 64 in allentown, 66 in trenton -- redsing. 62 in trenton and low 70's along the boardwalks in sea isle city and ac. as we roll through the day it is going to be a warm one. by noon we'll be at 81. by 3 o'clock 86. that's your high been 6 o'clock, 81 degrees and any time during the afternoon there's that chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm and in some cases they could produce drenching downpours and perhaps some gusty winds.

i-95. on the vine street expressway westbound traffic really jammed as you approach the schuylkill so watch for that jam on the westbound vine. the overnight construction is clear. crews will return again tonight and you'll see those closures. we have a report afire location causing a problem in burlington county so watch for it in medford bridgewater court near mcken dim men road. they're still doing emergency construction here upper pike creek is closed near route two. stick polly drummond hill road instead. matt and tam. >> thank you karen. and we're starting this morning with a developing story. a pregnant woman who was wounded in a double shooting, her unborn baby did not survive. "action news" reporter katherine could the is live on the scene in west oak lane. these got the latest developments this morning. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tam. that's right, that woman when she was rushed to the hospital went right into surgery but her baby did not survive. a man believed to be her boyfriend is in the hospital in stable condition and that woman is in critical condition after being shot here last

night. it all happened right over there by the this utility pole on the 7300 block of thouron avenue in west oak lane around 10 o'clock last night. witnesses told police they heard some sort of argument, then gun shots. when police arrived the 32-year-old woman was sitting in a passenger seat of a parked car. she had been shot in her lower back. the 46-year-old man was lying nearby on the sidewalk. he had been shot several times in both legs. police believe the shooting happened outside the vehicle. >> after being shot we the female jumped into the passenger front seat of the vehicle. we didn't find any bullet holes or any strike marks in the vehicle. the vehicle's engine was still running upon police arrival. >> reporter: and that car has been towed. police are going to be searching it to look for any sort of evidence that can help in this case. all we know so far about the gunman is that there were two of them and that they ran in an unknown direction. so they're looking for tips. they're looking for surveillance video.

if you have any information northwest detectives want to hear from you. live in oak lane katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> thank you katherine. an off duty philadelphia police officer suffered minor injuries in a nasty wreck. this happened on the 9500 block of germantown avenue in chestnut hill just after midnight. the vehicle nearly tipped over after hitting a tree and jumping the curb. the officer had to be pulled out of the wreckage. he's now in stable condition. >> ♪♪ >> happening today, new jersey governor chris christie will finally end all speculation and announce he too, is running for president. "action news" reporter erin o'hearn is live at the big board with that story. >> reporter: the new jersey governor known for his blunder outspoken style is throwing his hat in the ring after years of will he or won't he banter. christie will enter the race as an underdog. the tilt like it is governor is expected to make the campaign official today at 11 o'clock at livingston high school. perhaps because he was once the president of the student body there.

observers thought that perhaps this was an administration that was over. and thought that indictments would go broader but watching the governor over the many years, the five years that i've been watching him, it is clear that he is very capable of rebounding and that he is a masterful retail politician. >> reporter: again christie's announcement is expected at 11:00 a.m. today and we will be carrying that live on 6abc. christie will leave right after the speech to campaign in new hampshire so he's wasting no time, tam. >> all right, thank you, erin. vice president joe biden is now rumored to be considering a run for president. the wall street journal reports that before his untimely death his son beau biden encouraged his father to launch a bid. biden's other son hunter is also said to be supportive. a source tells the journal the vp set a deadline of early tying make a decision. >> 6:36 now. atlantic city electric predicts all of its customers that lost power in last week's storm should have electricity by the end of today. more than 1,000 power crews

from out of state pitched in for a final push to get everyone back online. only a few hundred customers are off line right now down from a peek of 280,000 last week. the delaware county council asking governor wolf to declare a state of emergency due to the impacts that area saw from last week's storms. eight municipalities suffered substantial damaged and an emergency declaration would help foot the bill. the city of chester sustained more than $2.5 million in damage. >> almost feel bad telling people we have a little more rain to talk about tonight. >> yeah, some thunderstorms this afternoon and this evening could give us a little bit more absolutely. storm tracker six live double scan though shows that the morning commute looks like it's going stay dry. a couple showers on the other side of harrisburg and pottsville headed up towards new york state. as we take a look outside we have had the development of clouds overhead. if you're right down along the beach and you look east it's still a little bright because the sun is getting in beneath those clouds early but overall we will see sun giving way to clouds this morning and then again this afternoon clouds

and sun and some storms. 69 degrees is your temperature. the dewpoint has climbed a little bit over the last hour. we're up to 63. that's pushing a little farther above that 60-degree threshold from when we start to say yeah it's starting to begin to feel humid. especially if you start moving around you'll feel it. winds south-southeast at 3 miles per hour. future tracker six shows that you as we roll through the day and in through the morning the clouds get thicker and thicker thicker. why 12 o'clock there could be a couple showers perhaps a thunderstorm developing out to the west of the area. as we get to noon to 3 o'clock some of these storms will push in closer to the central portion of the region. there's less of a chance of any of this making it to the shore. if you're on the beach and you here a rumble of thunder or see threatening skies grab your stuff and get in right way. any storms that form could produce drenching downpours maybe gusty winds in some cases. by 6 o'clock the model wants to ease this stuff back to the west but i'm going allow for something coming through the immediate region. later on this evening it looks like we start to see things die down although both adam.

cecily tonight on channel 17 and 6abc will probably have something to show you on radar. in terms of severe probability there's not a high chance but the storm prediction center does have a wide area covering much of the eastern united states for the potential of a strong thunderstorm or two and this actually, the eastern edge of it does go all the way through our region almost to the north jersey shore. so all this means is that if a thunderstorm does form today there is a slight chance it could produce strong gusty winds. just to reiterate take cover indoors on the lower floors if one heads your way. 80 by 11 o'clock, 85 by two. your high today will be 86 at about 3 o'clock and it will be more humid than yesterday. high temperatures from north to south only 80 in allentown and about 80 down the shore as well. want to quickly go in closer to the shore and remind you there's the chance of rip currents. even though it's nice on the beach and nice in the ocean water only swim next to the lifeguards in new jersey and probably be a good idea in the

delaware shore regions as well. 79 degrees for the phillies first pitch tonight and 74 in the ninth inning, a possible thunderstorm but hopefully dry. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, 86 is today's high. those afternoon thunderstorms possible in the evening as well, some drenchers here and there. and then humid tomorrow with more thunderstorms with a cold front on the doorstep a high of 87. possibly unsettled on thursday 87 degrees. i don't think there's a big chance of a thursday thunderstorm but we'll leave the mention in there and then while there is a chance of a little bit of rain on friday morning it looks like high pressure delivers us basic al nice day overall. and a high of 84. for the fourth of july a mix of sun and clouds, humidity building back in a little bit a high of 86 and a slight chance of a late day or evening pop-up thunderstorm but at this point it doesn't look like a washout. it's one of those days where it will be a good idea to tune in to melissa magee since it's saturday night before you head out just to make sure that everything is high and dry. >> okay, will dodge thank you david. it's 6:40. up next home grown terror. a new jersey native.

cottman. there you see the slow speeds we talked about on the schuylkill. in west philadelphia don't forget 52nd street blocked near westminster because of that water main break and also phils tonight at 7:05 a-concert at the mean at 7:00 so lots of congestion that those areas. reports of a new accident causing really slow speeds. watch for this. the ramp from the turnpike westbound to northbound northeast extension causing problems right now. we're seeing speeds like 23 miles an hour westbound on the turnpike. this is a new accident just coming in so as emergency workers respond you're going to want to watch because the ramp is partially blocked. so this accident causing problems already this morning. and here's a fire location we have been talking about here. this is bridgewater court in medford township in burlington county new jersey. so, something else to look out for. one more issue in gloucester county. one of the hardest hit areas east greenwich township, downed wires still a a problem

problem. the ramp from i-295 to harmony road still closed. they're still dealing with that one week later in gloucester county. 69 degrees right now in philadelphia. 65 in millville, 64 in allentown. you're good to go this morning but watch for this afternoon. you'll be traveling with some strong gusty thunderstorms tam. >> okay, thank you karen. and american airlines employee has been arrested near pittsburgh in an online sex sting. authorities say 55-year-old ray holland tried to set up a sexual encounter with a 10-year-old girl and her mother. the criminal complaint says holland exchanged nude photos of himself. he's a long time employee of the airline and was named in the 9/11 commission report for his role in dealing with highjacking of flight 11 from boston on september 11th. >> a north jersey man has been charged in a plot to help support isis. federal officials say 23-year-old alaa saadeh planned to travel into isis terrorrer to in the middle east to join the group. the feds also say he purchased a plane ticket for his brother. his arrest comes two weeks after law enforcement arrested

approaching cottman and from the betsy ross bridge to girard. >> temperatures are okay. we're at 66 degrees in fleetwood. 61 in quakertown, 63 in chester. up to 70 in center city. a little bit humid out there but with cloud cover starting to come in, it doesn't feel all that bad. of course unless you're out there jogging you'll want cool drinks for that. sixty five in buena, 72 in gandhi's beach. 71 up and down the boardwalks and somewhere in the mid up to are 60's in the state of delaware. if you are running errands today and you can get them done in the morning that's what i would recommend. not only is it going to be more comfortable with temperature in the 70's up to the low 80's between 9 o'clock and noon but during the afternoon there's a chance avenue shower and thunderstorm popping up. where they hit they could produce denching downpours. they'll be spot dee but the morning more tranquil. 86 is your sir high today. on the humid side matt. >> thanks, david. >> a man pulled out of a bank rob flee new york city and used a wheel claire for his get away. this newly released surveillance of the suspect.
