karen. good morning. >> downpours and thunderstorms late yesterday and last night. as we take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan the thunderstorms are moving up through the eastern edge of long island at this point and all we've got left this morning is a couple of light sprinkles and showers and they're really falling off the map. nonetheless i have a driver's alert for you this morning as we have leftover debris and branches on the roadways. wouldn't be surprised to see people's trash cans all over the place but more importantly trees and wires are down again in parts of the region. there may also be some residual flooding on some roadways where the storm drains are jammed. be careful of all of that. use caution on the way in. satellite and radar shows you that now that that main batch of precipitation is moving on and away from us we're going get into a lull through most of the day with a mix of clouds and sun. warm and humid conditions and then later this afternoon and this evening another shower or spotty thunderstorm is possible. 70 degrees in philadelphia, 68 right now in millville. tranquil across most of the region at this point. roads still a little bit wet where the rain has depend or

is still falling as we go through the day it is going to be another warm one. 8 o'clock 73 and then 83 as soon as noon on the muggy side with clouds mixing with some sun. by 3 o'clock that's your high, 87 degrees and then 84 by 6 o'clock and again we do have that chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm this afternoon or perhaps early this evening. these are not going to be severe today but i still want you to take cover if you hear thunder on account of the lightning threat. when i step inside matt pelman we will talk more about the next round of precipitation and that could be within the next 48 hours. >> i'll tell certainly hasn't been quiet around here lately that's for sure. good morning everybody. we enter july with a whole bunch of issues on the roadways for the wednesday morning ride including this very serious one on the schuylkill. westbound side right by the exit for montgomery drive, it was an overnight crash that led to a vehicle fire and still just the left lane is squeezing by as the cleanup continues. this is causing huge delays coming away from the vine street expressway that now are spilling back onto the vine itself.

westbound 676 now a parking lot coming away from broad street through this point at the schuylkill and then the schuylkill westbound remains a solid line on out to montgomery drive. you want to use the river drives instead but they are very wet. you have to watch out for those big puddles along them so that you don't hydroplane and lose control. also big issues this morning on the regional rails. no service because of amtrak power problems on the airport wilmington newark and thorndale paoli lines. we're watching that. watching a crash by brugers bagels along 30 at haverford station road. action cam on the scene in pennsauken. a crash led to this downed traffic signal blocking the southbound lanes of 130 here at drexel avenue. so you're not getting by as you head down toward route 38 this morning. they're detouring you through the neighborhood but if i were you, i'd stay a little farther away from this closure, maybe on haddonfield road, even 73 or 295 as alternates on this wednesday morning. tam. >> okay, thank you so much matt. you have been talking about this breaking story.

that out of control car that crashed and burst into flames on the schuylkill. two people killed. a third person in the hospital. let's go to katherine scott she's live at the barracks in wynnefield heights with the latest about what happened here. good morning. good morning, tam, that's right, the driver and a passenger in that vehicle died. another passenger was rushed to hahnemann university hospital. this was a terrible crash. they're still out there cleaning up on the schuylkill expressway. troopers here from the belmont barracks in wynnefield heights were called out to the scene. let's go to that video from that crash this morning t it happened around two:30 in the westbound lanes of the schuylkill expressway approaching montgomery drive. the cause of the accident remains under investigation but somehow this car lost control, it flipped to its side and it burst into flames. here's what the car looked like after the fire was put out. it was completely burned out. accident investigators were called to the scene we don't yet know if wet roads were a factor from all that overnight rain. traffic has been slowly getting by as this

investigation to clean up is under way but we do know that two people have died. one person was taken to the hospital. stay with "action news" for updates. we're live in wynnefield heights, katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> okay, katherine, thank you for that. and philadelphia police are on the hunt for a team of bank bandits who held up the td branch in chestnut hill on the 8600 block of germantown avenue last night. at least one of the five suspects was armed with a gun. they were all disguised in hoodies sunglasses and hats and got away with $7,000 in cash. no shots were fired and no one was hurt. >> developing now the fbi has joined the investigation into last night's fire at a prominent black church in south carolina. white supremacist had targeted the same place of worship 20 years ago. erin o'hearn has the latest for us at the big board. matt back in 1995 the klu klux klan burned down the mount zion methodist episcopal church. last night flames erupted again at the church which is about 50 miles north of charleston and that's where

nine people were shot and killed on the church on june 17th. fortunately no one was inside this place of worship at the time. authorities say it is too soon to say what caused the blaze which did break out on the night of frequent storms. but this comes at a time when federal authorities are investigating other fires at predominantly black churches in the area. but so far the fires do in the appear to be related. however members of the church say this latest fire -- because of this latest fire, they are drawing from the strength of the congregation of emanuel ame in charleston. >> i think emanuel ame has shown us the way to deal with tragedy and that is to draw your strength from the lord and come together as a community and meet whatever adversary you may have with a spirit of love. so, i think this community has done that in the past and they will do that now. >> reporter: like many more congregations finding comfort in their faith, a church near

the region. some of your roads still a bit damp. as we take a look outside big issue on the roads this morning is not so much going to be active rain it's going to be perhaps some backed up storm drains from all that heavy rain last night although it looks like they've cleared out the airport pretty nicely and also a lot of trees and wires down across the region in areas where the heavy storms hit last evening and yesterday afternoon. 70 degrees in philadelphia currently, 66 in allentown, 68 in wilmington. everybody in the process of drying out but it's still on the muggy side because remember, this was a warm front that came through. we still haven't got the cold front through that's going to clear things out and well bring that humidity down. a lot of hail from some thunderstorms around the region. in east falls nancy tweets in these pictures. three hail stones in her hand. eve of them look like they're probably about nickel to quarter size. of course they have those spiky edges too because of the melting they've gone through. we've also got some storm damage to report. northampton pennsylvania mark tweets in some strong wind damage on the side of a house

where some siding was ripped off and of course a lot of trees down across the region, too and in fact it might have been that falling tree that took down the siding. trees and wires down in northampton, honeybrook, 14 in this caseville hanover, west goshen, parts of delaware county and maybe montgomery county would be the areas where you would see the biggest impact from the storm. slow down and plan on a little bit of a delay in case you run into an area where a tree or a wire is blocking things and of course you never go near any of those wires. they could us light up. precipitation is in the process of getting on out of here. looks like by noon we're in a mix of clouds and sun. warm and muggy mainly dry and then later in the afternoon just a slight chance of a pop-up shower or maybe a rumble of thunder. not expecting any severe weather the rest of the way. in fact right now let's show that you. the best chance of severe weather with strong gusty storms is to our north and east today. so we're in the pink in terms of strong thunderstorms but if you hear a rumble of thunder i still wants you inside indoors because lightning can always be a problem from any thunderstorm.

even a nonsevere thunderstorm can give you a brief pretty good gust. 81 degrees is your high in allentown at a and an an afternoon shower or thunderstorm can't be ruled out. probably staying dry down the shore during the afternoon but the issue once again today is rip currents. so if you're swimming, yeah, nice in the water with temps in the 70's, okay on the beach with a high of 80 degrees in atlantic city, for example butter rip currents in the water so swim near the lifeguards. today's high in philadelphia is 87 degrees. an afternoon thunderstorm can't be ruled out but honestly i think most areas are mainly dry later today. so here's your seven day. warm and muggy today 87 degrees. a thunderstorm in a couple of spots or maybe a brief shower. then tomorrow sun giving way to clouds, 84. and in the afternoon there's the chance of some showers redeveloping but they're mainly south of philadelphia. then friday some lingering showers or a thunderstorm is possible in the morning. in the afternoon we dry out and a high of 82. getting into the weekend saturday the fourth of july, a mix of clouds and sun. we might build that humidity back a little bit with a high of 84. and there's the slight chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm but it does not

international joke day. did you know? it is. but this commute definitely no joke. it's going take you a lot of extra time especially if you're take to the regional rails. we've had big issues with the amtrak power this morning. there hasn't been any so we haven't had any service along the airport line the wilmington newark line. they have gotten that service up and running once again. but with residual delays on the airport line and up to hour delays on the wilmington newark line. if it's an easy option for you, you may be able to use the media elwyn line instead of the wilmington newark line depending on where you're coming from. thorndale paoli line still not running for some of you the norristown high speedline may be a viable alternative. on the schuylkill expressway, you definitely want the find an alternative to the westbound lanes we still have this accident investigation and cleanup going on by montgomery drive. just the left lane is squeezing by. that does not bode well coming out of the city. it's a parking lot from approaching the vine street expressway on out to this point at montgomery. the delay really spilling back

onto the vine street expressway. westbound side barely moving from broad street out to 76. again you want bail and head for the river drives but as you round those corners really watch out for the ponding and the puddling as much as you can stay toward center of the roads as you use those river drives on those outer lanes you're definitely seeing large puddles this morning. and still seeing debris cleanup from the weekend storms in west conshohocken. one of my favorites. remains closed balligomingo road still out of commission between port lands road and 23. stick with 320 there by gsk. we still have issues in pennsauken. action cam still on the scene. the southbound lanes of 130 remain shut down right here at drexel avenue. it's because of this downed traffic signal just up there. they're in the process of cleaning up, though. the guy sweeping up out there. and actually as we watch live, looks like they're picking up the cones here along 130 southbound at drexel avenue headed down towards 38. looks like this should be opened before too long. we always like that when we see the cops picking up the
