>> good morning, everyone, it is 6:00 a.m. on this friday, july 3 breaking this morning. >> a philadelphia neighborhood erupts in gunfire overnight, two people are dead and at least two others are injured in what police say was an attempted stickup. >> we have more on the fiery train crash in tennessee. thousands are out of their homes as a dark plume of toxic fumes hover overhead. >> we have a beautiful day today, but it won't last, we have rain in the forecast. >> reporter: overall sun will overtake us, that will be the rule for the morning and perhaps partly sunny skies as the day goes on.

police saycy the night did not go the way a would-be robber intended. there was gunfire that left two people dead including the suspected robber. katherine scott is live at the scene in tioga-nicetown. >> reporter: investigators believe this started as a robber, they are trying to work out the details. in the end four people were shot, two died, including the alleged robber. he still had his ski mask on. investigators remain on the scene. homicide detectives and members of the crime scene unit are piecing this together, you can see the evidence markers on the street here. this happened at 2:30 a.m. police believe the robber stopped a group of people on the 1900 block of juniata street. someone in the group had an assault rifle and changed gunfire. the robber was hit and ran down to bruiner street and he died.

another man was shot in the torso, he died. a man and a woman are in stable condition at the hospital. the crime scene unit and homicide detectives are on the scene to piece together what happened. >> unfortunately rienl i don't see any sure -- unfortunately i don't see any surveillance cameras. other than the victims we don't have any victims until our men come out and canvass the area. >> reporter: a lot of gunfire, a bullet hit a home, several cars shot up. police are trying to gather all the evidence. they believe there were more people here, they are not sure who fired the assault rifle. they are hoping someone can come forward and get more information about the case. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> thank you katherine. a few hours earlier a man was shot walking down a philadelphia street. this happened on the 2100 block of west tie ago -- tioga avenue.

he a man was shot in the groin and walked into walt's devil island bar and someone called a ambulance, there's no word on a suspect or motive. >> a toxic cloud of smoke hover above a tennessee town following the train derailment is starting to subside. five thousand people are out of their homes this morning. the chemical is used to make plastics and exploded in the crash. it is dangerous if inhaled many have been treated for respiratory ailment. philadelphia police department will name officers who are involved in shootings. until now the department refused to name officers citing safety

the 80s and high of 83 around 8:00 p.m. tomorrow wave of low pressure is to the south starts to push off the coast. the wrap around flow around it will produce clouds tomorrow and suppress the high temperatures to 75 given the increase in cloud cover. there's a chance of scattered showers as the flow interacts with a trough coming through. as we look at future tracker 6 we're look at fairly dry conditions in the morning, but we get into the late morning hours the latest model run wants to bring showers and thunderstorms up from the south. once we get into lunch time, even as highs a philadelphia there's a chance of shower activity. there could be a problem for early afternoon parades or picnics as we get later into the afternoon hours though, it looks like this has a chance of pulling away from us, we may be cloudy but we would be looking at drier conditions. that would set us up for good conditions for the fireworks.

sure it might be cloudy, but dry, that's the important thing. 77 by 7:00 p.m. 72 in philadelphia by 11:00 p.m. i would still keep my eyes on the forecast just in case this changes and the storm is slower to leave. but looks like we'll be dry in the evening. at the shore risk of rim currents, clouds and showers sunday, 78 and partly sunny on the beach. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, partly sunny today, 83. tomorrow, 75 a lot of clouds around showers at times during the day. you have to watch out for but looks like the southern half of the region has the best chance. hopefully drying out in time for fireworks at night. sunday 83 degrees, partly sunny skies, another change to the forecast. we'll add the chance of a thunderstorm, monday tuesday and wednesday, i think the best chance is wednesday because it looks like the frontal boundary will be closer to us.

>> two news crews were covering a deadly shooting in san francisco. an armed man approached a photographer and pointed a gun. another crew tried to intervene one of the photographers were pistol whipped. they grabbed the crew's camera and jumped into a getaway car. it is one of several attacks on news crews in the bay area and prompted news crews to higher security. might have to compete with clouds, the call from accuweather is next. >> we're gathering new details on the breaking story this morning, a deadly quadruple shooting in philadelphia.
