there. it's going to -- it could be a holiday that could stinking hot temperatures in the 90s and lots of parades around, weather wise it's cool for july. high temperatures in the mid 70s, mid 60s north and west, this is easy to handle. quakertown, 65. tanersville, a comfortable 62. 70 in center city and 66 in saint davids. on the the other side of the delaware we go, glassboro 66. gandys beach, 69 anticipate smyrna, 71. with all the cloud cover and showers off to the west, temperature-wise we'll not go too much higher than the numbers we saw there. double scan live a few clusters of showers and rumps of thunder to the west, it's pushing toward the northeast away from the delaware valley. some of it down here may sneak into the region as the late morning hours wear on and we get into the first part of the

representing our city's diverse theme. we ate our way through finishing with something american, of course. >> that's another good one if you like coconut. >> reporter: the only thing more american than spam is apple pie. >> reporter: city celebration continue to grow. crews worked into the night to put the final touches on the parkway stage big concert philadelphia is showing america how it's done. >> it's a big thing here in philadelphia, this is where it all started. we have to do it big for the fourth of july. >> this is my place right here, nobody does it like philly. >> reporter: it is estimated 700,000 people will head out into the city. plenty will be out here on the parkway for the party on the parkway and the concert and fireworks. reporting on annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> fireworks in ocean city at

10:00 p.m., and sea isle at 9:00. atlantic city lit up the sky last night at 9:30. "action news" found all types of of people browsing the boardwalk. >> you're a cowboy from new york. >> basically. >> i've never seen anybody like him up here, so it was a first. >> many folks are enjoying the rides, others are satisfying their appetite with a shore favorite are there pizza. the delaware beaches were crowded yesterday as people got an early start on their holiday weekend taking in the surf and the sand. the mile long boardwalk at rehoboth beach and the ocean were packed. everyone saying it made for a perfect beach day. >> we couldn't ask for a better day to come out and hang out. >> rehoboth beach will have their fireworks display tomorrow night at 9:15 between brooklyn

avenue and laurel street. several displays lit up the skies last night. "action news" stopped by several including this one at washington township high school. the patriotic spirit is alive in well in barrington, camden county. marchers wrapped themselves in red white and blue. uncle sam and the mummers made appearances. there were antique cars and military vehicles and fire trucks and more for the crowds to enjoy. our live coverage of the festivitying begins at 10:00 a.m. join matt o'donnell and tamala edwards as they host the freedom ceremony and the independence parade on 6abc. join in the jam on the parkway rick williams hosts along with karen rogers and adam joseph. the concert begins at 7:00 p.m. followed by the fireworks

display over the museum of art. whether you're on the parkway or grilling in the backyard, share your holiday weekend with us, use the #6abc sports on social media. we'll be showing it right here on 6abc. >> new this morning philadelphia police are investigating a deadly crash on the roosevelt boulevard it happened in the northbound inner lanes of the boulevard near adams avenue in the city's norwood section. police say that the driver of a car lost control at 3:00 a.m. and slammed into a tree. a driver and passenger were trapped inside, firefighters worked to free both victims. one person was announced the other taken to temple hospital in serious condition. overnight an "action news" viewer send -- sent us this video of a fire crash in camden county.

3 were inside the car on route 130. the car plowed into a traffic light and concrete barrier flipping over before crashing into a cemetary fence. motorists rushed to pull out the people and all three were hospitalized. the crash is under investigation. police are looking for who hit a man and woman along penns landing, a buickic -- buick hit them around 11:50 as they tried to cross the road. the driver fled on foot and has not been captured. a female passenger was caught running away. the victim 32-year-old male and 28-year-old female were taken to the jefferson university hospital. the fbi is investigating how the city of allentown does business. agents spent several hours seizing documents from city hall and questioning top officials

including the mayor who is running for senate. the city solicitor said agents collected records from several offices that date back to 2005. nobody has been subpoenaed to testified or told they are a target of the probe. in a statement yesterday the city said the contracting process is fair, open and honest and cooperating fully with the fbi. prosecutors in the corruption case against senator bob menendez want a judge to determine if some of the evidence in his trial should be when he would or restricted to possible national security concerns, they asked for a hearing on the matter. menendez was charged with conspiracy and bribery for allegedly accepting gifts from a florida doctor in exchange for political favors, both men pleaded not guilty. the power was out after a week in the storm infuriateing

residents in new jersey. board of public utilities will review atlantic city's response in the wake of the storm. a spokesperson said the company restored service to 100,000 customers within a day and 1600 workers in the field. there's much more to come on "action news" saturday morning, which state shows the most pay treatism. a -- patriotism, a new poll may surprise you. half a road is missing after flash flooding in parts of the plain states. >> reporter: we're traveling a little bit of wet weather this morning, steadier stuff to the west, i'll let you know when it arrives and when it moves away in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast right after this.

flash flooding washedz -- washed away parts of the road in oklahoma. the rain came down in just a few hours stranding drivers. thankfully, everyone is okay. we were talking about a little bit of rain here. >> reporter: i'm glad we're to see we're not alone with all the rain we had last month. parts of the area picked up over a foot of rain during the month of june. we have more rain executived this afternoon just a couple of showers, but several more chances in the seven seven-day forecast.

highs in the mid 70s it won't feel that bad out there. this is the last of it, we've had a series of small low pressure systems run a stalled out frontal system to the south each one bringing a chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the duration of the week. we've had a a couple of those slide through. this is the last. future tracker 6 showing clouds this morning spritz or sprinkle, brief passing shower. this afternoon you can see how the shield of moisture falls apart as it approaches the viewing area. nothing more than a shower this afternoon. in the evening hours clouds break up a little bit, you will see stars out there the weather should be okay for the fireworks. thing tomorrow we get into a little bit of patchy fog otherwise it's combination of sun and clouds, and warmer temperatures. for the poconos, only 65 degrees, there will be showers around from time to time looking much better and brighter for sunday, sunny and warmer,

showers working off the coast steadier stuff to the west across state college and harrisburg. the good news, this cluster here is actually pushing off to the northeast. that will won't hit us, this down through here, western portions of maryland and west virginia that will slide east over the next several hours that will get in here during the first part of the afternoon. going hour by hour, which you can expect which would be late morning into the first part of the afternoon. for the city, areas of showers 76 degrees normally we should be ten or 11 degrees warmer. it's a nice cool day. in the poconos 60s and passing showers 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. those are the best chance of seeing the showers pull through. afterwards we start to dry beforehand we are cloudy and cool. not a bad day, but a chance of showers from time to time. eva. >> thanks, chris.

"good morning america" will have more on the story at 8:00. as fourth of july celebration get underway, law enforcement around the nation will be on heightened alert. they are ramping up security and urging caution because of the increased concern of terror attacks. new york city is ratcheting up police presence on the ground air and water. los angeles called today the highest terror alert since 9/11. the fear is mostly over attacks by lone wolves. people in america radicalized and inspired by isis propaganda. philadelphia is expecting 700 million people to celebrate independence -- # -- seven hundred thousand people to celebrate. fbi has issued advisories to 18,000 law enforcement agencies

after three attacks last month. officials are insuring tourists it's safe to come out. >> yes there's been chatter there's something you heard all over the country. but there's no specific threat anywhere that we're aware of right now in the county. >> organizers are asking visitors not to bring big coolers or cooking equipment nothing larger than a bread basket as they may be subject to security checks. philadelphia police began questioning a man about an injured baby, the 5-month-old showed signs of being assaulted. the baby was taken from this apartment buildings in northeast philadelphia. the baby is stable at st. christopher's hospital. police have not said who they questioned or if a crime was committed. in north philadelphia, police are investigating a double shooting that happened

around 12:30 around germantown and erie avenues in fronted of max' steaks. two men were rushed to temple university hospital, one in critical condition, the other in serious condition. police have no suspects or motives in that shooting. the u.s. marshals have caught this manner, 21-year-old -- this man 21-year-old victor bennett was wanted for shooting at a camden police officer. he was tracked to haddon avenue in collingswood. bennett was armed with a handgun, being held on $1 million bail. officer prince reid is out of the hospital and recovering this holiday weekend. a vote to expand casino gambling throughout new jersey is looking less likely this fall. lawmakers say this is almost no chance of having a referendum on the ballot. in order to do so, a bill must be passed by august 3. lawmakers say there's no

>> parts of tennessee are under water and bracing for more bad weather. this is what it looked like in cookville. days of heavy rain triggered flash flooding, homes and vehicles surrounded by high water, the area could see another inch or two of rain today. makes you stop and keep yourself from whining about the little tiny bit of rain we're seeing. >> reporter: it's kind of funny the dramatic change in this pattern, we went from dry and everybody east of the mississippi has had too much rain and we're seeing flooding scenes in cookville tennessee. there will be showers and dodging rain drops from time to time, but it shouldn't be enough

to ruin your plans. here's the view at philadelphia international airport. runways are dry, but it's cloudy 70 degrees, dewpoint, 66. just the slightest breeze out of the east-northeast at 6 miles per hour. atlantic city, 71. the dewpoint, 69. winds picking up out of the east at 15 miles per hour. water temperature, sitting at 73. it's the temperature in sea isle city this morning, there's the 70. allentown, 68. the poconos 62. here's satellite and radar a big cluster of moisture across central pennsylvania, that won't effect us this afternoon that's pushing northward toward up state new york, we have a cluster off the coast that won't affect the area either. that will work out to sea. we're worried about this shower activity pushing across the mountains this morning it could hold together long enough, excuse me, to get in here later this afternoon. but, again it shouldn't amount to all that move. here's the showers today.
