>> good morning, it is 7:00 a.m. on this saturday, the fourth of july, here's some of the stories we're following on "action news," new overnight deadly crash a person was killed in an accident on the roosevelt boulevard. ♪ the philly pops kicked off the holiday celebrations at independence mall, plus will mother nature cooperate for your plans for the fourth? meteorologist chris sowers is outside looking at the accuweather forecast. >> reporter: sort of. again, if you're someone down the shore and lay on the beach and work 0 on your tan this is not a good day for that. even with that said, it's not going to be a washout today just a couple of passing showers. temperature-wise it will not be warm either, 70 in philadelphia. wilmington, 70. we're going up four or five

degrees from here. the numbers are well below seasonal averages. reading, 66. allentown, 69. look at the poconos 62. sea isle city, 72. there's the view in atlantic city, lots of clouds and wairvets battering the -- waves battering the beaches. seas build two to four feet if you're doing boating. rougher for the smaller boats but nothing major. we have showers approaching from the west all this activity is in central pennsylvania and harrisburg and gettysburg. there are oranges and yellows out there, as this blob of moisture moves to the east it will fall apart. the barbecue forecast looks okay, the parade looks okay, as well. cloudy skies and mist and passing shower is possible. the 2:00 p.m. 74. later on, 75.

celebrations continue to grow, crews worked into the night to put the final touches on the parkway big stage concert philadelphia is showing america how it's done. >> this is where it all started. so it's like, we have to do it big for the fourth of july. >> this is my place i have to be here for the fourth. nobody does it like philly. >> reporter: it's estimated 700,000 people will head out into the city, plenty of the people will be on the the parkway for the party on the parkway and the concert and fireworks. reporting along the parkway annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> more fireworks shows are planned for tonight at the jersey shore weather permitting. in ocean city at 10:00 p.m. and sea isle at 9:00. atlantic city lights up the sky at 9:30, they went off last night as well. in my past 20 years, it was a first. >> many folks are enjoying the rides and others are satisfying their appetite with another shore favorite with pizza. the delaware beaches were crowded yesterday as people got a start of the holiday weekend taking in the surf and the sand. mile long boardwalk at rehoboth beach and the ocean were packed. the weather made for a perfect beach day. >> it's 85 and beautiful. we can't ask for a better day to come out. >> rehoboth beach will display their fireworks at 9:15 launch at brooklyn avenue and laurel street. thousands across the delaware and lehigh valleys didn't have to wait for fireworks. several displays lit up last night. "action news" stopped by this one at washington township high school.

6abc. philadelphia police are investigate a deadly crash on the boulevard. it happened near adams avenue near frankford the driver lost control at 3:00 a.m. and slammed into a tree. of both the driver and a passenger were trapped inside. firefighters worked to free both victims, one person was pronounced dead the other was taken to temple university hospital in serious condition. overnight an "action news" viewer sent us this video of a fiery car accident in camden county. police say three people were pulled from the breakfastage before it caught fire. a -- from the wreckage before it caught fire. the car plowed into a traffic light and concrete barrier flipping over before crashing through a cemetary fence. motorists rushed to pull out the man and woman all three are hospitalized. that crash is under

investigation. police are looking for the driver who hit a man and woman along penns landing both are critically injured, this is new video of that scene on christopher columbus boulevard. police say a buick hit them at 11:50 as they tried to cross the road. the car took out a traffic light, as well. the driver fled, the female passenger was caught running away. the victims were taken to jefferson university hospital. doctors are pushing to have baby boomers tested for a potentially life threatening disease, we'll explain why. successful launch relief, after a rocket blasts off into space. >> reporter: patchy mist this morning, showers roll in this afternoon, i'll let you know how that impacts your fourth of july plans, when we come right back.

huge race going on in pitman and parade. ewing, 66. browns mills 66 degrees, satellite and radar small little area of low pressure pushing on by to the northeast. this will be a nice nice rainmaker for new york and new england. pushing by here and we're left with scattered showers this afternoon. one or two of these could be, i don't want to call it steady, because we're not anticipating anything too terribly heavy. one or two of these could hold together as it passes over the appalachians. we could get a quick-passing shower or downpour for the western suburbs, but that's about it. it will be light showers for the most part and drizzle. watch all these yellows. it disappears as it pushes east, which is good news, it will push to the north.

holiday events in and around the delaware and lehigh valleys this weekend. first up in collingdale delaware county, the borough is celebrating the fourth of july with a motorcycle roll at 8:45. a grand bread for follows this morning. the parade begins at mcdade boulevard and are a better at that avenue where the -- roberta avenue. food donations will be collected along the parade route. in audubon, camden county, the parade gets started this morning at 8:30, service sacrifice and strengthen. the day wraps up with a band, prizes and fireworks display at dusk. in quakertown bucks county, the holiday will be celebrated with a community day and fireworks. they get starting pointed at 8:00 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, there will be

underway, law enforce. around the nation are heightened alert. they are ramping up security and urging caution because of an increased concern of a terror attack. in boston police employed special under cover teams to report suspicious behavior. new york city is ramping up enforce on the air and in the water. the fear is people radicalized and inspired by isis propaganda. philadelphia is expecting 700,000 people to celebrate independence day. football and homeland security issued an advisory to 18,000 law enforcement agencies after three terror attacks on the same day last month. city officials say they are in contact with federal authorities

and assuring tourists it is safe to come out. >> i want to emphasize there's been a lot of chatter that's good you heard all over the country. there's no specific threat anywhere that we are aware of in the country. >> organizers are asking people not to bring big coolers or cooking equipment or big backpacks nothing larger thatten a bread basket. as they may be subject to security checks. police questioned a man over an injured baby. the baby was taken by medics from this apartment building in northeast philadelphia. the baby is in stable condition at st. christopher's hospital. so far police have not said who they questioned or if a crime was committed. in north philadelphia, police are investigating a double shooting it happened around 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of germantown and

erie avenue. two men both 31 were rushed to temple university hospital one in critical condition the other in serious condition. so far police have no suspects or motives in the shooting. u.s. marshals have caught this man 21-year-old victor bennett wanted for shooting a police officer in camden. he was tracked to the 200 block of haddon avenue in collingswood. after three block foot chase officers caught him. he was armed with a handgun. the officer wounded in the previous shooting is out of the hospital and recovering this holiday weekend. casino gambling throughout new jersey is looking less likely this fall. lawmakers say there's no chance of having a referendum on the november ballot. in order to do so, a bill must be passed by august 3.

>> a young man died when a fairway -- stairway collapsed. this the cause of the accident outside sack meant tow is being determined. a flight for life helicopter crashed and exploded in colorado. the pilot died, he was a vietnam vet with 27 years. of a paramedic and hospital employee were injured. a witness said it was trying to gain attitude in wind windy conditions. a swimmer took video of a shark roaming near the shore. it ventured into shallow water several people went into the water to get a closer picture. really people? it follows a series of shark attacks off the be in income coast.

there was a shark sighting in north carolina a woman shot this video of a fisherman hooking the shark in kill devil hills. she said the shark was 6 1/2 feet long. the fisherman threw it back into the water. there were ten recent shark attacks off the coast of north and south carolina this year alone. people if you see the shark don't go near it. you can get a good selfie with the shark from the beach. >> reporter: the one guy look like he was ten feet away. i remember when i lifeguarded. people want want to run out there. you were blowing the whistle at them they didn't listen. i was in tornadoal -- tornado alley, effort a tornado came, i would tell them to head to the basement, they run out with their phones.
