states from haiti about seven years ago. he is one of 15 people who took the naturalization oath of allegiance in front of the independent hall, officially becoming a u.s. citizen. >> philadelphia has welcomed me like in a good way. i just became a citizen. i like it. >> it is the fourth of july. i'm a citizen now, so i'm so happen bye that. >> reporter: after the ceremony's band, floats, dancers marched through the nation's most historic square mile. >> it is exciting to be here in fourth of july. >> reporter: sebastian celebrated with her three-year old daughter olive and her mother-in-law who happens to be a middle school u.s. history teacher. >> it is amazing wonderful, i have so much to bring back to my students. >> reporter: the showers that fell during the independent day parade, soaked the 6,000 participant, and the spec tait organization. some parade goers came prepared, others didn't, either way folks we spoke with said they still had a blast. >> they said the timing wasn't good.

head line tonight's concert and as always the night end with fire works over the art museum. >> but the concert the fire works, they are the best i have ever seen. my sister and brother-in-law are here from connecticut and i told them we have to come down and see them. >> we have a bunch of food that we made, we have umbrellas, water selfie stick. >> reporter: a selfie stick is that important for fourth of july celebration. >> of course, you have to take pictures somehow. >> reporter: with the city packed and concerns over a terrorist attack nationally, philadelphia police promise stepped up security, and urged people not to bring big bags and coolers. it is not enough to scare india harris of germantown who brings her son here every year. >> we're the birthplace of america. where ever started in philadelphia. it is like we have to come down here and represent for our city. >> reporter: and you're looking right now at the museum of art. of course, the show end with a huge fire works display over the art museum tonight and if you cannot make it out, don't

well men local handy man leroy wilson was arrested today on the 300 block of brown street in norristown. he is charged in connection with the murder of regina brunner-holmes. wilson was known around the neighborhood as leroy the handy man and had done work for her in the past. >> we believe that he came to her door that night, she knew him from previous times where he did work for her let him in, we believe right now he probably was stealing something from her and maybe she caught him in the act of doing that and with that, he was set off beat her and then stabbed her. >> captain james clark there commended homicide detective for their attention to detail in the case. he said even through the beginning of the holiday weekend they remained on the case until the arrest was made. much more to come on "action news" tonight a shocking scene for beach goers in sea isle city when local fisherman, ruled in sharks, a bun much of sharks today. plus hundreds marked the historic day in the history of gay and lesbian equality right here in philadelphia.

now to concerns, over what in the water near the coastline with millions, crowding the beaches. viewer sent "action news" video of some swimmers at jersey shore who caught a small shark in shallow water near the shoreline. the they caught the baby shark, look at that in sea isle city, earlier today. >> well, i'm glad, the kid will get a chance to touch the shark and everything. you know, it is a great time, great way to spend the fourth of july. >> muston says he caught three sharks over last three days. meanwhile there have been more than 20 shark attacks this year, mostly off carolina coastline, typically they are between 30 and 40 reported shark attacks annually off the u.s. coastlines. today also marks 50th anniversary of the first

equality protest for gay rights and it happened right here in philadelphia hundreds of people gathered to honor the 40 gay and lesbian activist who marched in front of the independent hall back in 1965. james ogerfield the man from ohio behind last month's supreme court decision to legalize gay marriage nationwide spoke to the crowd. >> a landmark day, but, we need to remember who came before us and the risk, and the sacrifices that they have made. >> one of the many goals... >> today's celebration was part of the speaking out for equality exhibit at the national constitution center. this exhibit will run until january 3rd, and admission is free.
