we're seeing a decent amount of sunshine. yesterday was not that bad, we had a two hour period of showers that pushed through the area. jersey shore saw sunshine from start to finish. it wasn't that bad at all. not too much going on across south jersey and delaware, looks like these areas are in the clear. the far western suburbs are getting out toward central pennsylvania. we're starting to see issues right now. reading down the to -- to a half mile. allentown, 62. reading are 63. poconos, 60 degrees, decent amount of sunshine, morning fog sun and clouds the rest of the way, lunchtime 81. # p.m., 86. we're forecasting a warmer high of 87. the sun will set around 8:33.

it's a nice finish to the weekend, turning warmer in the forecast showers and thunderstorms, the drenching downpours return. i'll let you know when in just a bit. >> firefighters had to rescue several people trapped in a burning home on the ocean city boardwalk. the action cam was on the scene at saint charles place. the homeowner discovered the fire. >> the homeowner attempted to put the fire out himself did not successfully do that, was able to get out and call 911. moments later firefighters arrived and found 6 people on one of the decks and a half people on another deck. crews managed to rescue all of them. seven people including a firefighter suffered minor injuries, investigators are looking for the cause. chopper 66 got a bird's eye

olney section of philadelphia has left one man dead. the action cam was at the of the 5100 block of north front street. police found a dead man in the back seat of the car shot several times. a second man was lying on the ground on the corner of master street. that victim is in stable can condition. police are questioning him to try to figure out who fired the shots and by. greeks are casting their vote in a bailout referendum. the country is in default, the banks are shut down. the greek prime minister said a no vote will strengthennen -- strengthen his and with the european union and the imf. happening today the women's world cup final.

the hospital treated for a gash to the head. the 24-year-old pilot was not hurt, the plane lost engine power and the investigation into why continues this morning. the coast guard rescued a man stranded in a sailboat off the coast of florida. theman left port st. lucie for the bahamas, he ran out of fuel and the battery for the radio died unable to call for help. the crews carnival ship spotted him and called the coast guard. the coast guard rescued the man and took him to the hospital where's being treated for severe sunburn. >> reporter: you can look at this nathan's hot dog eating contest. matttonie, beat joey chestnut.

there this morning after staying out to watch the fireworks display that capped off another fourth of july celebration in the birth place of our nation. ♪ the fireworks over the art museum were set to popular music. people crowded the steps the museum to watch the display. the complicated choreography and the continuing 15 minute on firing visual took 6 months to plan. ♪ that is country singing superstar jennifer nettles she performed to the roots. they were the headliners on the jam on the parkway. ♪r&b artist miguel joined the roots to perform his hits.

thousands watched the free conor macmannis certificate on the parkway. it was part of the wawa welcome america festivities seen on 6abc. the roots played a song close to our hearts. ♪ the band did a sampling and it included the "action news" theme song. this proves that want roots have really great taste. at the location where the founding fathers signed the declaration of independence it was a day to create history for some. for others it was a chance to learn about. trish hartman has that part of the story. >> reporter: thousands chose to celebrate independence day in the city where it began from

independence hall to the parkway, folks came to show their spirit here in the city of philadelphia. caleb move to the united states from haiti 17 years ago. he took the oath of aallegiance at independence hall officially becoming a citizen. >> i just became a citizen and i like it. >> it's the fourth of july i'm citizen, on this day i'm so happy about that. >> after the ceremony, bands and floats and dancers marched through the city. tiffany celebrated with her daughter and mother-in-law. >> it's amazing and so wonderful i have so much to bring back to my students. 6,000 participants some spectators came prepared, others

the 13th amendment to the constitution abolishing slavery. trish hartman, channel 6 "action news." >> the deck of a beach house gave way in north carolina as the family was preparing to take a group picture. at least 14 people were injured two critically. a young child is among the injured. investigators are trying to figure out what caused the collapse. new overnight a man was shot to death in the port richmond section of philadelphia. gunfire broke out this morning. a man in his 30s was shot in the chest and neck, he died there. no arrests. police have made an arrest in the murder of an 85-year-old woman inside her home in east mount airy. the victim knew the suspect. leroy wilson was arrested on the 300 block of brown street in norristown. charged in connection with the murder of regina brunner-holmes. wilson was known around the neighborhood as leroy the

a viewer sent "action news" video of a swimmer who caught a small shark by the shoreline. they caught the baby shark in sea isle city. meanwhile, there have been more than 20 attacks by much larger starks. a half dozen happened off the north carolina coast. there were between 30 and 40 reported shark attacks off the u.s. coastline every year. >> in california the lingering drought conditions caned many fireworks displays. more than 300 fires were caused by fireworks according to the state fire marshal.

the 66-year-old singer married his 4-year-old girlfriend at the couple's annual july fourth party. they've dating since 2009. they are expecting their first child together. and they are off, this was the annual fourth of july soap box derby he in conshohocken, montgomery county kids put on their helmets and took off inn their soap box cars and took off. a lot of create went into building the cars. sports is tough but without an arm is inspiration. michael strahan brings us a child defying the arm. >> reporter: aidan is different from the other kids on his team, facing a huge challenge since the day he was born.
