"action news" reporter trish hartman has more. >> police say a passerby flagged down a patrol car before 4 a.m. alerting them to 17-year-old girl in the parking lot of this walgreens on north broad in hunting park. the victim's father said she was on her way home from 4th of july activity from her cuz sglin she was coming from the fireworks they had down penns landing and i heard there was a scuffle or fight that took place and somebody stabbed her to death. >> family members identified her as 17-year-old anita cotton. investigators say cotton was

rushed to einstein with a stab wound to her neck where she was pronounced dead. several friends and family members said a fight broke out in the parking lot and they didn't know why. >> this had to be an outside somebody i guess wanted to do some damage to somebody. somebody so young. >> my niece was a nice girl. she was eye -- the fight broke out and end result was she got stabbed. >> those who know cotton said she was a student and dedicated to mother to her 2-year-old daughter. >> she was a good mom. no matter what she was going through, young smart great mom. >> i'm upset about think want to find out who donecy wish they would turn themselves in. >> philadelphia police are still investigating if you heard or saw anything homicide detectives would like to hear from you. hunting park, trish hartman

"channel 6 action news." >> philadelphia police are investigating other homicides overnight. after 1:00 police were called to east gel is street in port richmond where they found a 44-year-old man lying in a fool of bloodshot three times. there's no arrest and no word on a motive. >> and city olney section investigators are piecing together a double shootinger early this morning. around 3:30 a.m., 5100 block of north front smun fired more than 30 shots at a car with two men inside. the driver was hit in the thigh and foot and a passenger in the backseat was killed. no arrests in this case, either. from our new jersey newsroom tonight please are investigating a murder in camden adds well. it happened late last night broadway and vixt ola street. a man in 30s was shot repeatedly there. he was rushed to cooper where pronounced dead and the gunman remains on the loose. >> authorities are lehigh county

vebilitying a double homicide. a man and woman were found shot to death at the intersection of 6th and greenleaf streets. no arrests made in this case as well. recovery crews in wildwood recovered a body that matches description of missing teenagers. witnesses say tuesday they saw someone struggling in the water hereford inlets and last night the body was found. pending autopsy will expect edly provide confirmation of the victim's identity. a memorial service held today for an 85-year-old woman murdered in her east mt. airy home. rej iriana bruner holmes was remembered my friends and family joseph lavine and sons memorial chapel. yesterday police announced arrest of leroy wilson a handyman that did work for the victim. brenner-holmes let him into her home last monday and at some point confronted him after perhaps catching him trying to steal something perhaps. and wilson then beat and slashed her throat. the 4th of july went off

with a bang here in philadelphia. the philly 4th of july jam and fireworks shows with a huge success last night. officials estimate 200,000 people packed the parkway. they also as you can imagine left behind quite a mess. as soon as the crowd cleared out those cleanup crews moved in. some of the crowd moved from the parkway to south street party afterwards. police were out in full force to make sure the crowd did not get too rowdy. >> and the holiday weekend coming to a close. good news is that the weather today was fabulous and bad news many of us spent the day inside a car driving home from holiday destinations. meteorologist melissa magee is outside enjoying sunshine and enni rukanjarvi joining us now for the first accuweather forecast. >> we had a drier and brighter finish to the holiday weekend. we're under a partly cloudy sky and temperatures rend spokeing to the warmth overhead. 84 degrees. 77 poconos. cool are but still comfortable a look of the coast. beach haivrn 78, 76 in sea sil l
