and you can see there's a line of showers, this is all ahead of an approaching frontal boundary that is going to continue driving to the east today. and by later this afternoon we will start to see the development of some showers and perhaps a thunderstorm and any storm that forms could produce drenching downpours in this humid air mass. as we take a look at temperatures this morning 79 degrees in philadelphia already. 71, a little better in allentown, 76 in reading, 74 in trenton. down the shore middle 70's on the boardwalks early and once again today, we are expecting dewpoints to be up around the 70-degree mark so it does feel oppressive out there once again. as we go through the day. heading out the door to catch the bus or just get the car started 76 by 6 o'clock, 81 by 8 o'clock, warm and humid to begin and through the day it's going to be another one of those fairly cooking humid days. 81 degrees by 8 o'clock, 85 by noon. and by 3 o'clock 89 degrees. that is going to be your high today and later in the afternoon and evening there is that chance of a drenching thunderstorm. matt pelman a couple of these

storms might produce gusty winds. looks like we're getting closer to the end of this pattern. details in the accuweather. >> cooking is good but not when we're the things getting cooked. >> right. >> good morning, everybody. it's hump day. as you're headed out on this wednesday morning we've still got overnight construction for you to watch out for but the ramp from the northbound side of 95 to the westbound side of the vine has reopened. i told you that was going to be closed overnight. still see the arrow board up there on the ramp from the eastbound side of the southbound side of 95 but traffic can get by in both direction the here on the vine itself traffic still not getting bye the schuylkill expressway. this construction should wrap up within the next half hour. on the big picture so far pretty good on the schuylkill itself and the roosevelt boulevard. we're expecting an opening at the tacony palmyra bridge this morning in just about 15 minutes but the burlington bristol bridge remained opened overnight so that's ready for you you some if you choose to take the triple b.

in edgemont township problems with gradyville road causing it to be closed. stick with route three or baron road for alternates. matt. >> thanks matt. crews are working to clean up the charred mess from a strip mall fire. the hope is that some businesss in that area can reopen today. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live along 69th street with today's update. katherine. >> reporter: that's right, matt, that is the hope, that some of these businesses will be able to reopen today but it depends on the crews' progress and they have been working to tear down some of the walls at the payless. you can see this morning that the block is still closed. a police officer is positioned right here at the front of the block. there's no cars, no pedestrians and perhaps most importantly to these businesses, no shoppers. crews were still at work overnight on the unit block of 69th street in upper darby the site as much monday evening's fire in payless shoe

stores. most of the neighboring stores have been closed since that fire. some shoppers turned up tuesday only to be turned away. >> we were coming down here to shop. >> not day. yesterday a demolition crew worked by hand fearing the collapse of an unstable wall in the back of the store. concerned about a collapse and issues with power meant all stores but one on the block were closed yesterday. the mayor hopes there will be some reopenings soon. >> our concern right now is getting this business communities back opened. we're working as progressively as possible sale, we're looking at possibly turning some stores over in the morning. >> reporter: so, as they're working to get these businesses reopened, the investigation is under way. this is a joint investigation by police and fire department as they work to determine the cause. we're live in upper darby katherine scott, channel6 "action news." matt. >> thanks, katherine. its search is on for three robbers who stole $15,000 from a philadelphia home. swat teams searched rooftops

as police taped off the 3800 block of j street in juniata yesterday. they found a getaway car but empty. officers were searching for the home innovator who took off from the original crime scene on tulip street. they snuck into a house through a bedroom window. the homeowners were there but were not hurt. >> a private school administrator in chester county accused of inappropriately touching a student. 62-year-old george symonds served as head of school at the concept school. the victim told police he sent explicit texts e-mails and phone calls. the victim who was 14 years old at the time says it became physical the he faces corruption of a minor and indecent assault charges. he's been fired from his job is that currently free on basement foronbail. donovan mcnabb arrested for driving under the influence. this happened in arizona on

june 28. according to a police statement mcnabb rear-ended a vehicle stopped at a red light. fortunate no one was injured. former eagles quarterback was taken to a holding cell before being released. since this is his second arrest he could face up to 90 days in jail if convicted. >> a store clerk was stabbed to death on only his seconds day on the job in atlantic city. 29-year-old peter ferry was working at the cedar market yesterday when a man walked up and suddenly stabbed him in the neck. the store owner says the customers ran out as the attacker chased other employees around the store. they managed to lock the front door and run out the back. then the attacker kicked out the door and began crossing adriatic avenue as a police officer arrived. that officer fired multiple shots killing the man. >> notification of his family and he told my brother the guys says you need to work come down, yesterday started and it happened today. just his luck. it could have been anybody else. it could have been me. could have been somebody else.

it just happened to be him. >> neighbors say the at that is correct was a known drug addict who had recently gotten out of jail and wasn't taking his medication. >> new information this morning about a deadly shooting on a san francisco pier. an official now says the gun used belonged to a federal agent. the suspect juan francisco lopez sanchez a pleading not guilty. he says he found the gun wrapped in that a shirt on the pier and it went off in his hands killing 32-year-old katherine steinly last week. sanchez had been deported to mexico several times but kept returning to the u.s. he's being held on $5 million bail. investigators are trying to figure out how and why an x16 fighter jet collided midair with a cessna near charleston south carolina. officials say two people on the cessna died in the crash. the air force pilot ejected safely and was taken to a

hospital. a witness says the military jet slammed into the smaller plane causing a huge explosion and ball of fire. >> the local prosecutor who handled a former temple employee's claims against bill cosby is talking about how he convinced cosby to confess that he bought drugs to use on women he wanted to have sex with. bruce castor was the montgomery county district attorney in 2005. he says he cut a deal with cosby because there wasn't enough criminal evidence for a criminal charge. the only way to get cosby to go on the record in a deposition caster says was to agree not to charge him. the case was later settled for an undisclosed amount. >> new this morning, a suburban pittsburgh couple managed to escape unharmed after an explosion knocked their home off its foundation. this is what's left of the house in north braddock allegany county. the gas company is investigating the calls of the leak. it had recently installed a new meter and checked the lines inside the home at the end of june.

a fish with a net in the street. that area received a record 8-inches of rain yesterday. >> not something i hope i ever do. >> seriously. >> good for fishermen but bad for everything else. we could have some drenching downpours from storms that form later today. as we take a look at storm tracker live double scan right now the only rain we have is off to the north and west of the area and again the biggest issue for us will probably be in the afternoon versus the morning. as we take a look outside, we have a fair amount of clouds early but we expect some sunny breaks early on. looks a little bit well, just slightly misty at the airport. not in terms of rain but in terms of maybe some fog that's trying to fire up down there. 79 degrees currently is your temperature in philadelphia. dewpoint up there at 70 so once again, very humid as you step outside. the winds a little bit breezier today. southwest at 13 miles per hour. future tracker six shows that you through the morning between now and noon, basically dry perhaps a couple of pop-up showers like we had yesterday and every now and then one of them could in

a couple of isolated neighborhoods give you a brief downpour. then we get into 4, 5, 6 o'clock and there's a better chance of some of this stuff. again, it is spotty, it's scattered but every now and then in this humid air mass you get an indication on the model of a drenching downpour and we do want you to be careful of that. looks like by the time beget up to 8, 9 o'clock most of this is off the map. now, in terms of -- this should say today but in terms of today's storms lightning would be a moderate risk. i'm also posting strong winds as moderate risk. not that we expect a lot of that but there is some chatter at the national weather service and accuweather level perhaps a storm or there probably based just because of the heavy downpour ahead of it could produce a little gusty wind. the big issue today will be downpours from any storms that forms. it's another warm one. 89 is your high today and it will probably feel like the mid 90's at times with that high humidity. 87 degrees by 5 o'clock. high temperatures across the

region, up in allentown 83. 84 in reading. a little less intense up in the northern areas today than it was yesterday. closer to 90 in parts of the i-95 corridor and mid 80's down the shore. spotty drenchers are possible just about anywhere around the region. 83 degrees is today's high in beach haven. 84's everywhere else. the ocean temperature still running very warm. a lot of mid 80's down into bethlehem or -- bethany beach i should say and 75 degrees in the ocean there. again afternoon downpours not out of the question although not everywhere all at once. and then tomorrow it still looks unsettled as we have a wave of low pressure in the afternoon coming in from there west and by late in the day and evening another round of showers or thunderstorms is possible and this action continues up until tomorrow night. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, today humid downpours are possible in some neighborhoods. not everybody sees them but where you do they're going to show you down on the roads for sure. 89 is today's high. humid tomorrow with some downpour producing showers and

thunderstorms again 87. and then warm and finally less humid on friday. we'll get up to 86 but it is going to feel a lot better heading toward the end of the work week and sunny and warm and pretty nice on saturday now. 89 degrees. you'll need cool drinks but it doesn't look like the humidity is going to be out of whack and we're also going to look at nice evening conditions for the philadelphia union at ppl park. and on sunday it gets hotter and more humid and there could be an afternoon thunderstorm. >> one big cycle. >> yeah. >> thanks, david. an eight-year-old boy has a powerful message about the violence in chicago. tj donald is taking part in the city's safe haven summer pro program. he's part of 12,000 public school students enrolled in the free day camp at churches and community centers. tj talks about the seven-year-old boy shot to death over the weekend. >> he didn't even go to second grade. he didn't grow up to be a grown up. people need to learn. put the guns down. put them down.

>> i think we should all be listening to tj. safe haven teachers kids about anger management focusing on the anti bullying and antiviolence. >> time for your first look at business in the big board. new jersey gaming officials are investigating the hacking of four of the state's internet gambling sites. this happened over the weekend. the party responsible threatened more attacks unless a ransom was made using the online currency bit coin. gaming officials say the hackers were not able to access any personal information. the cvs drugstore chain says it's leaving the u.s. chamber of commerce over its stance on smoking. the new york times reported last month that the chamber was working to fight antismoking laws. cvs removed all tobacco products from its stores last year. the chamber claims it is not promoting the use of tobacco but wants to make sure that the intellectual property rights of tobacco companies is protected. all three major indices reported gains yesterday but futures point to a slightly lower open this morning.

a judge has ordered time warner cable to pay $230,000 to a texas woman. she received 153 robo calls from the cable company despite her complaints to stop. the judge tripled the $1,500 penalty for each call saying the company was particularly egregious. >> i would say that would be correct. 4:48 now. passengers were stuck on a train for 14 hours. only to end up right back where they started. the reason for the long delay coming up on "action news." >> and a police officer down south is facing criminal charges for a poorly executed arrest. authorities claim his shoddy work led to a deadly shooting. >> ♪♪

from 422. these are the eastbound headlights passing 23 headed in towards 202 in king of prussia. looking good on 422 and 202 so far this morning. but there's still some overnight work on the pennsylvania turnpike. they're working both ways between bensalem and willow grove. westbound it's the right and center lanes that are out of commission. eastbound the left and center lanes are blocked and i mentioned last time around in edgemont township delco we've got problems with gradyville road. the road is collapsing in on itself. they figure it's going to be several weeks to get things fixed up. stay up top on route three west chester pike or baron road to get around that temporary blockage. erin. >> all right matt, thank you. a police officer in new orleans is facing criminal charges after officials say he failed to properly pat-down a man who later shot and killed another police officer. he's also accused of intentionally overlooking evidence. the police cleve says johnson responded to a report last month that a suspect had fired a gun at a woman.

the suspect was later handcuffed in a patrol car. somehow got his hands on a weapon and shot and killed another officer transporterring him. police officials say they're still investigating how the suspect got the weapon. the cleve says johnson tried to cover up his shoddy police work. >> how disgusted, frustrate and appalled i am that an officer would lack the professionalism and integrity to do what he did. >> the suspect in the case escaped but was later arrested again. officer johnson was arrested monday and has been suspended from the force. >> new video this morning showing the aftermath of a crash at a doughnut shop in gardenia california. two cars went off the road one of them breaking through the front of the restaurant. five people were hurt, one is in critical condition. officials are checking on the integrity of the building because, well, it has a huge doughnut on top of it.

>> what was supposed to be five hour trip turned into a 14 hour ordeal for passengers on an amtrak train leaving chicago. they were headed to saint louis when the train had to stop for four hours because of a truck accident. but the bad luck didn't stop there. a freight train derailed causing an even bigger delay. finally amtrak turned the train around and guess what? passengers were eventually put on buses to their destinations. >> a driver in louisville kentucky is getting stares and screams during his commute because the driver is looking like he missed a few meals. it's actually a skeleton not really driving. it's the work of a mechanic.
