touched down in delaware valley this week. a twitter destroyed an elementary school in berks county wednesday night. the principal was inside when the storm hit. she was able to get out just a few bumps and bruises. school officials hope the students will attend a sister school nearby when classes resume in the fall. another tornado touched down thursday night. a viewer captured this ominous cloud heading down new castle avenue. strong wind wiped out there wall at a new castle industrial complex. a mobile home park was heavily damaged. you can see the twisted metal and shattered windows. >> it ripped it off and some of it ended up on new castle avenue and some on the trailer. >> at least three homes were destroyed, the tornado was 75

credit cards wide and half mile long. five people recovering in the hospital this morning after a crash in bucks county. they were inside a car that flipped over several times and went off the road. the accident happened on street road near route 413 around # p.m. two -- 3:00 a.m. this morning. two people were thrown from the car. police are trying to figure out what caused the crash. parishners in fishtown say their prayers have been answered. an important piece of their culture has been saved from the wrecking ball. saint laurentius church has been saved. >> reporter: a piece of philadelphia history has been protected. the twin expires and hand paintings have been saved from the wrecking ball. >> it's clearly historic property. >> reporter: it is the first and oldest polish catholic church in the city.

the historic commission voted to designate it a historic place preventing the archdiocese from moving forward with plans to demolish it. cracks are growing and scaffolding has gone up to catch falling bricks. >> i think it's a beautiful historic structure. a lot of people have a lot of the love or remorse for something like that. >> i hope they can do that to keep it sound. >> reporter: margaret who attended school here for a year isn't celebrating yet. >> i think it might be giving us false hope. they can't tear it down, but where does the money come from fixing. >> reporter: in a statement the archdiocese writes, the historic commission didn't take into fact public safety and the inability of the local parish which owns the building to ray ford

necessary repairs. a.j. thompson who represents those who want to save the church believe money is available to preserve a piece of fishtown's history. >> there are grants for this type of restoration. >> reporter: the archdiocese estimates it could cost $3.5 million to repair the school and church. they will keep it on the market while they appeal the city's decision. >> a charter school teacher in exton is accused of having a relationship with a teenage student. katie cross of phoenixville was arrested july 1. she was caught having sex with a 17-year-old in the car. she is the teen's teacher. the teenager told authorities she had been intimate since february. attorneys plan to appeal the conviction of a family in connection with the deadly

delaware courthouse shooting. they were found guilty of cyber stalking resulting in the death of david's ex-wife. his father killed bell ford and her friend at the new castle county courthouse in 2013. they denied knowing of the plan, sentencing is set for october. they could face life in prison. >> this trial represented an expansion of christine bell bellfour's life. it represented the courage of her children who came into the courtroom and testified on her behalf. the conviction was the first of its kind in the united states. an emaciated dog who was rescued from philadelphia, is happy and healthy in a new home. this is what the dog looked like in december. the animal was skin and bones.

yesterday, jeffrey collins pleaded guilty to animal cruelty. he must pay $5,100 in restitution. they nursed him back to headlight. he is doing just fine. dozens gathered in love park to push for the decriminalization of marijuana. they pushed for marijuana reform. the protesters showed their support for change by lighting up in the middle of the park. the group wants lawmaker to legalize we'd and remove it as a schedule one drug. they want to lift federal restrictions on state and medical cannabis programs. in washington, the head of the office of the personnel management has stepped down from her post. katherine archuleta abruptly resign after bowing to demands that she be fired. back in april hackers breach a

argentina. the pope has reached out to the poor during his south american trip. we're 76 days away from the hope's first official visit to the u.s., which includes philadelphia for the world meeting of families. his visit presents a huge challenge for the security teams to protect him and millions of visitors to the city. the agency has gotten guidance from rome, but his surprise interactions with the crowd makes him a challenge for protecting him. >> we have to ray -- we have to adapt to some of the things they want to accomplish and we have to do it in a discreet manner and in other manners be prevalent and out front. we're working closely with our counter participates at the vatican. >> of course we are counting down to the pope's visit in

we'll see sunshine this afternoon. probably around 11:00 a.m. is when everything starts to brighten up and skies begin to clear, waters nice and calm. dover, 72. poconos 61 and trenton checking in at 67. we'll take a quick look at how we measure the amount of moisture in the air we use dewpoints for that, anytime you're under 60 degrees it's a comfortable air mass. somewhat stickier to the south but very delightful stuff from the pennsylvania turnpike to points north. changes monday. tomorrow is another comfortable today. today is 50 that's fantastic for the middle of july. sunday we'll climb it up there a little bit we'll inch it up a notch. 60 to 62 which is slightly humid but not too bad. monday it increases a little bit more. it's going to be higher than what you see here. probably most areas will see mid 60s, most times that's humid compared to what we're dealing with the past two weeks monday
