doing to the roads. karen filling in for david and matt pelman are here right now. >> we continue with these flash flood warnings because we've had over an inch to an inch and a half of lane in a 20 to 30 minute period in some of these areas and that's what's causing the flash flood warnings until 8:30 this morning for parts of berks bucks, chester delaware, lehigh and montgomery counties. we also had thunderstorm warnings not at the moment right out in but i want to show you storm tracker6 live double scan so you can see exactly where these storms are hitting right now at the moment. and there you can see we currently have 94 lightning strikes just within our region as you're heading out. i want to show you where the hardest hit because these are areas that are just producing drenching downpours as well as lightning. let's get the latest with this track so we can look at this particular storm and causing problems right now in greenfield at 5:01. we see that now wenonah then woodbury heights at 5:02, west end and then jericho so that's some of the areas that are getting hit hard by this.

if you're in swedesboro you're getting gusty winds frequent lightning, gloucester county that was one of the areas we're talking about still damage from storms from two weeks ago. in gibbstown right along 295 we continue to take this farther up north because look at what's happening in trenton, you're just about to get the worst of it. it's moved through doylestown, now in new hope and will be in trenton shortly. i want to show you some of the western areas. although the thunderstorms there are not severe we can see through reading through honeybrook and coatesville you're looking at some really heavy downpours headed through the region right now and that's really the main concern with this as we head out. the trouble is throughout the day today we can expect these downpours at any point with showers and thunderstorms and a humid high of 85 degrees. we'll talk more about when these thunderstorms move out and what's behind it coming up in a minute, matt. >> certainly a lot of water coming from the sky this morning, a lot of water falling on these roads that then had as to drain and in some cases it's too much water all at once leaving us with some big puddles on the roadways and some vehicles

like this one hit those puddles, hydroplane and lose control. that's what happened here on the schuylkill expressway eastbound in king of prussia just beyond 202. the vehicle involved in this spinout accident is now off on the right shoulder so the lanes are opened but watch out for those puddles, they are dangerous this morning and there's debris down in the road ways following the storms like here in lower providence along ridge pike at fern avenue. on 422 again watch out for the water but so far speeds don't look too bad. this is 95 in the great northeast by cottman avenue, southbound traffic moving towards center city with no problems. the storms have not hit here in northeast philadelphia yet. association the road is still mostly dry. but they are in full effect here in the chalfont area of bucks county. as this vehicle comes by maybe you can see the rain coming down. the road is completely soaked. a lost ponding and puddling there. this is the ben franklin bridge. we have the ongoing westbound construction that will slow us down again this morning but at this point not too wet here from camden. erin. >> thanks so much, matt. another round of severe

weather is heading our way. right now mother nature is creating her own light show this morning. reporter katherine scott is in mobile6 riding in pottstown. she joins us live with more. katherine, a bumpy ride there this morning. >> reporter: it certainly is a bumpy ride erin. you want to leave extra time this morning because you could run into some problems. we're in pottstown right now on high street and the rain has will it 10ed up considerably. let me show you what's happening here. you can see there is rain, the roads are wet. it's not the downpours that we have seen earlier. we're seeing will it deb debris in the road. it's early. not a lot of cars on the road but as soon as that rain started the cars that were around us slowed down considerably. visibility isn't great depending on where you are. of course depending on how heavy that rain is but there is a lot of lightning. let's go to video from our sky6 camera in center city. lightning was just lighting up the sky. you can see those storm clouds

roll in and with them have come the heavy rains winds lightning a flash flood warning is in effect so you want to watch out for flooding when you're on this road this morning and again i'm going to turn back to high street here where you can see that the roads are wet. we're not seeing too much flooding so far in this area but it's really going to depend on where you are. so, again leave extra time this morning. not sure what you're going to run into. these storms are sticking around for sometime. we're live in pottstown katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> a dispute between two neighbors an shovel led to gunfire in the port richmond section of the city. gun shots rang out just before 11:30 last night on the 2100 block of east anne street. police say it startd when a 31-year-old man threatened his 65-year-old neighbor with a shovel. the older man retaliated by opening fire hitting his neighbor in the stomach. the 31-year-old is in critical condition but is expected to survive. police took the older neighbor into custody.

no word yet on whether he faces charges. also developing an elderly woman was caught in the crossfire of a shooting in north philadelphia. "action news" was there as the woman was being placed into an ambulance. it happened just after 10:30 last night on the 2800 block of north 25th street. police say the 79-year-old woman was an innocent victim. >> this 79-year-old female was sitting on her front porch of the house where she lives. she was sitting with her son. her son in his 60's. they were sitting on the front porch enjoying the weather when at least two shots rang out. >> the woman was taken to einstein hospital is that in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the right leg. police are looking for suspects in this shooting. >> 5:06 now. happening today, former president bill clinton will be in philadelphia to address the naacp convention. yesterday president obama spoke at the event at the pennsylvania convention center in center city. the president laid out his

vision for reforming the criminal justice system. he says the system needs an overhaul to remove bias. >> mass incarceration makes our country worse off. and we need to do something about it. the criminal justice system isn't as mart smart. >> president obama says lawmakers are working on legislation to make those changes. >> karen rogers joins us and those really intense thunderstorms are kind of dissipating. >> we don't have any thunderstorm warnings at the moment but the trouble when we had them produced an inch to an inch and a half of rain in 20 to 30 minutes. there's still flash flood warnings. storm tracker6 live double scan showing us right now even though there are no severe thunderstorm warnings at the moment i wouldn't be surprised to see them pop back up because what we're looking at are strong storms through the region. as we go close are with double scan we have nearly 70 lightning strikes in the region alone. this is one of the areas that's the most active right now in south jersey in

woodstown right now, on the new jersey turnpike near swedesboro you can see all the lightning strikes happening right now on 295 on gibbstown, on woodbury in 295 and i can place the storm track to give you an idea right now of where you can expect these storms go. blackwood 5:14, gibbstown 5:28. some of these places you may be getting a little bit of rain just now but the heavy stuff is headed your way and head thread momentarily so be careful as you're headed out and if you can kind of hold off on your morning commute a little bit that may help you. another area where you're getting hit so hard is areas -- this is what already tore through parts of philadelphia and left us with so much rain. it's now in new hope just moved through doylestown and headed up to the north and west. from there you're going to get clipped a little bit from that, in trenton. also some of the areas blooming up once again are near pottstown and honeybrook and downingtown where you had some really good downpours. let's go outside and show you what it looks like as sky6 is looking live.

we see the gloomy skies at philadelphia international airport where you're getting a good amount of rain through the region right now. we have flash flood warnings continuing through parts of the region, through central philadelphia and that continues until 8:30 this morning. looking at the numbers right now, 72 degrees right now in philadelphia. it's still oppressively humid. the dewpoint 68. the winds are out of the north-northwest. as we look at future tracker six we can see it's not just one line of storms that comes through. the problem is at any point today we could see these heavy downpours. this is a look at lunchtime showing that we're still going to deal with downpours here or there or strong storms with some of these storms we have gusty winds there could create damage as well and wednesday at 5 o'clock looking later this evening even in your drive home some of these areas still dealing with some of these downpours. but then what happens is a front comes through and look at the difference. we really start to clear out tonight and it's much more comfortable. so, today 85. these storms coming. they hit hard. then this front comes through and you really enjoy the benefits after that so this is our last day to deal with this

unsettled weather for now. humid with downpours at times at a 85 degrees for your high. tomorrow 80's breezy and refreshing just a huge change with low humidity and lots of sunshine. friday is mostly sunny, 84 and it's a nice sumager weekend although not perfect for the weather, very nice warm and more humid, 88 with just a chance for late day storm. nothing like we're seeing today. sunday hot and humid, 90 with a chance for a storm. monday hot and humid, 90 and if we stick with those numbers by tuesday we could be talking about our next heat wave. still sticky 90 degrees for your high an chance for a thunderstorm. so, if you were out driving early, you were driving through disastrous situations even now you have a lot of water on the roadway and frequent lightning so you got to give it maybe a little more time because the strongest storms are moving through the area. >> that's good. thanks karen. >> thanks karen. >> all new on "action news" the dramatic moments showing when a florida police officer was struck by a car with a driver taking off. >> encounters between sharks and humans usually don't end well but this wasn't the case on a beach in massachusetts. we'll explain.

>> ♪♪ >> 5:13. mobile6 taking a ride along pottstown's main thorofare. that would be high street. all the lights are green but we still have some rain coming down. it was really intense earlier. now, it's kind of dissipating but could leave behind some pretty intense rain, some flooding. we're watching after that. >> matt pelman is standing by because a lot of after effects from the drenching storms we saw this morning. >> for sure. if you can just sit by the window and enjoy the lightning show it is pretty impressive. let's start with pottstown since you just mentioned that, matt and erin because we're getting reports of a couple of fires in the pottstown area. no confirmation yet on whether these are as a result of lightning strikes but a couple fires with fire crews responding nonetheless. one is along hills boulevard at oakdale avenue, the other along south street at montgomery street so avoid both of those intersections. no big problems so far along 422. we saw katherine driving along there in mobile6 just a bit ago. this is what things look like on the highways this morning. we're here in fort washington along 309. this is just north of the

pennsylvania turnpike, 276 and you see the drops from the camera lens. lots of drops on the roadways, lots of puddles lots of spray coming up off those vehicles that you're traveling behind this morning so you want to allow some extra time. it is going to be a little bit of a rough commute coming out of the suburbs. meanwhile we have some debris on the roadway in lower providence at ridge pike at fern avenue. construction come dag to upper merion. they'll close trinity road right by balligomingo road which also remains closed after those storms a few weeks ago. 320 by gsg gets you around that. watch out for midday work in northfield atlantic county closing shore road at roosevelt avenue. time for the commuter report brought to you by the waze app on this wednesday down in delaware just some vehicles reported stopped on the shoulder. obviously we're dealing with the very wet conditions and a pothole along dupont highway near bear. matt. >> thank you, matt. this is new video of an orlando police officer getting injured during a hit and run.

watch as the officer approaches the car on the driver's side. his gun is drawn. the passenger then bolts from the other side. as the officer runs in front of the car the driver plows him down. both people who were in the car are still on the run. the officer is expected to make a full recovery. >> new on "action news," shark sightings normally send swimmers scrambling out of the water to safety but this encounter in massachusetts ends a little differently. this is new video of a great white shark that got stranded on a cape cod beach. the 7-foot male shark got stuck as the tide went out. beachgoers kept the shark wet until officials pulled it back into the water. the shark was then tagged by scientists. and this black bear has been making the rounds in one north carolina town. this tree was the bear's most recent home. the bear eventually climbed down and took off into the woods. the residents in conover were nervous after the 130-pounder was spotted outside a fast

food restaurant and on interstate 40. looking for a burger i guess. >> maybe. the american league won the all-star game for the third year in a row securing home field advantage in the world series. millville's own mike trout became the first player in 38 years to lead off the mid summer classic with a home un. the al squad won six to three at the great american ballpark in cincinnati. trout also became the first play player to win back to back all-star m.v.p. awards. pete rose sinces banned career hits leader was given an 80 second ovation when he was honored before the game. coming up in our next half hour, mike trout hanging with his buds in south jersey. only "action news" was there. >> you got to see it. 5:17. the last of boston's winter nightmare has finally melted away. >> and get ready for christmas in july. it's amazon versus wal-mart today, an online shopping showdowns. karen. >> we still have 60 live lightning strikes happening right now through our region with these storms that are

>> ♪♪ >> time right now is 5:20 and we're taking a live look from mobile6 at a vehicle in pottstown. we're told that it's stuck in the flood waters right now sort of in the middle of the street. another time the remind you if you see flood waters stay away from them. you don't know how deep they are. you don't know what is beneath there. you don't know how fast those waters a traveling. stay away. looks like someone got stuck in pottstown. if you bet that boston's last bit of snow would melt yesterday on july 14th, you would be right. boston's snow siege is finally over according to the mayor. it has officially melted. more than 110-inches of snow fell in boston last season. mayor marty wash created a

contest to predict when the last bit of snow would melt. >> i guessed the 15th. >> one day off. >> is there a consolation prize. >> you would have won. >> gone already, what a bummer. as we head outside this morning the storms are gone at least for the moment here along the schuylkill expressway. no more rain falling but the road is definitely wet. you can see that as those westbound headlights come toward gird girard avenue. from 9:00 until 3:00 watch out for road work going on on the schuylkill westbound in this area as you head towards the roosevelt boulevard. that did slow us down during the midday yesterday. down in delaware roads are wet. same with south jersey and connecting the two the delaware memorial bridge has construction blocking a lane in both directions around the clock through friday afternoon. mass transit though looking good so far this morning. patco running on its construction schedule but i think we're used to that by now, karen. >> that's right. storm tracker6 live double scan slowing we still have storms moving through the

region right now. i want to go in a little closer. we're seeing a lot of live lightning strikes happening along 95. this is all lifting to the north and west n gibbstown woodbury on 295 that's the new jersey turnpike right here heavily traveled roadways right here that are just getting pounded in there is a bro' near rowan university on 551 of the areas hardest hit. this is all moving up to the north and east. it will be headed towards mount holly soon. the trouble with this is these storms will is frequent lightning, 66 lightning strikes in this area alone hitting an area that was just ravaged from storms a couple weeks ago so that's really some of the hardest hit areas. these storms now hitting new hope and pennington. looks like in trenton you'll just get some of the light rain with the heaviest going north of that, erin. >> thanks karen. rheumatoid arthritis affects millions of americans. it's an autoimmune disease which attacks the hands and are feet. people who suffer ra have higher rates of heart and

morning commute. >> a moon shot from the millville meteor. south jersey native mike trout starts the mlb all-star game with a home run and ends up as the m.v.p. good morning everyone, 5:30 on this wednesday. tam is off. erin o'hearn joins us. david is off, karen rogers is here along with matt pelman and we'll go to katherine scott a little bit later on on the scene of that flooded road. good morning to you all. >> good morning. it's a tough morning commute when you're dealing with strong storms moving through the area and we have flash flooding concerns, a flash flood warning in effect for parts of berks bucks lehigh, chester, delaware and montgomery counties here and that's until 8:30 because look at this. covering to the national weather service over an inch of rain fell in about a 30 minute period. so, so much rain coming down so quickly. as we look at storm tracker6 live double scan you can see exactly where these storms are right now who is getting hit the hardest. there you can see storm tracker6 lighting up here. we've got 97 lightning strikes happening right now through the region.
