getting you through the messy morning commute. >> a moon shot from the millville meteor. south jersey native mike trout starts the mlb all-star game with a home run and ends up as the m.v.p. good morning everyone, 5:30 on this wednesday. tam is off. erin o'hearn joins us. david is off, karen rogers is here along with matt pelman and we'll go to katherine scott a little bit later on on the scene of that flooded road. good morning to you all. >> good morning. it's a tough morning commute when you're dealing with strong storms moving through the area and we have flash flooding concerns, a flash flood warning in effect for parts of berks bucks lehigh, chester, delaware and montgomery counties here and that's until 8:30 because look at this. covering to the national weather service over an inch of rain fell in about a 30 minute period. so, so much rain coming down so quickly. as we look at storm tracker6 live double scan you can see exactly where these storms are right now who is getting hit the hardest. there you can see storm tracker6 lighting up here. we've got 97 lightning strikes happening right now through the region.

and with our double scan technology we can show you exactly who is getting hit the hardest. i want to go in a little closer to this right now. i've got a track placed on this storm that's so active right now where we're getting most of the lightning. this storm alone 87 lightning strikes, haddonfield at 5:37, gibbsboro 5:42, marlton 5:51, moorestown at 5:54 then mount laurel right now at 5:58. so that's where the storm is headed currently through the region and you can see also a new one beginning. in salem one to the southwest of that. one in west chester right now hitting so it's not just that area that's getting hit so hard. some of the storms that tore through philadelphia an hour ago have broken up a little bit. it's just some heavy rainier new hope and lansdale and pottstown yet still a couple lightning strikes. up near quakertown as well you're getting some of that rain and we've had a significant amount of rainfall in a relatively short amount of time and i just want to show you over the past 24 hours some of the rainfall that we've had so far because that's what's causing the

problem today. and with our double scan technology we can show you that. in salem you've had already about 3-inches of rain, 2-inches there near elmer 3-inches in chadds ford in 24 hours, 3-inches of rain. near media 2-inches of rain. out near speedwell 2-inches of rain. honey book 3-inches from the storm that came through this morning. it's still coming down right now so that's the concern. we're seeing it live with storm tracker6 and the problem is we've got this concern into the night with these scattered downpours and thunderstorms which could produce two to 4 inches of rain and cause that flash flooding, matt. >> all right karen. thankfully the rain has stopped here in dole company at the moment along the blue route 476 but it was lot of rain to drain very quickly and so we're left with some big puddles. we've had reports of high water along the blue route 476 right by the exit for broomall upper darby route three. there go the pen to the crews. they're driving by making sure that the drains are draining properly but again, reports of high water here along the blue

route this morning. reports of traffic lights out in norristown. this happens after a storm along west main egypt road. debris along ridge pike at fern avenue. a couple fire locations in pottstown. no confirmation these were sparked by the lightning but that is a possibility. hills boulevard at oakdale avenue and south street at montgomery street. early this morning we saw a car spin out here in king of prussia along the schuylkill expressway eastbound east of 202. that car is now cleared out. everything reopened but the road is still very wet. and this is the ben franklin bridge looking live from center city. kind of streaky because it's west and westbound we have the construction in the right lane that will slow us down once again much matt. >> thank you, matt. those storms left behind some flooding in montgomery county. let's go to "action news" reporter katherine scott live in mobile6. hello, katherine. >> reporter: hello matt. yeah the rain has been steady since it started and here's what we're looking at right now. we're seeing some problems here in pottstown.

we're on high street right by college and you can see that there is flooding, high street flooded out here. a car a minivan got stuck as well. police are on the scene here. so is a tow truck here to pull out this minivan from the flood waters. they know high street is closed up by gable. drivers have been coming through, we've seen them doing some u-turns around here. other that is looked like they were contemplating going through. i do want to tell you do not go through standing water. , see sometimes this is what could happen or worse. so right now tow truck working live on the scene here to get this stuck vehicle out of the flood waters. let's go to new video we have from pottstown from when this storm swept through early this morning and you can see there is heavy driving rain. another issue that we're seeing is the lightning. this lightning is seen constant. we've seen so many lightning strikes in the area. they've just been lighting up the sky for the last several hoursly so, high winds heading through and again flash

flooding, something you want to look out for during the storms. there could be flash flooding. here in pottstown again we have seen this problem here on high street and so definitely leave a little extra time as you're heading out today. we're live in pottstown, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> okay, katherine, be safe. thank you. developing this morning, an elderly woman was caught in the crossfire of a shooting in north philadelphia. "action news" was there as the woman was being placed into an ambulance. it happened judge after just after 10:30. police say the 79-year-old woman was an innocent victim. >> this 79-year-old female was sitting on her front porch of the house where she lives. she was sitting with her son her son in his 60's. they were sitting on the front porch enjoying the weather when at least two shots rang out. >> the woman was taken to einstein hospital and is in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the right leg. police are looking for suspects in this shooting.

and this is new, a shooting victim shocked moviegoers when he collapsed outside of an imax theater in delaware. the action cam was along the 400 block of south madison street in wilmington where medics placed the victim on a stretcher last night. police believe someone shot the man in a nearby neighborhood before he ended up in that parking lot. he is in critical but stable condition. >> philadelphia mayor michael nutter's security detail had to spring into action when a homeless man confronted him on the street. and the mayor himself got involved. >> stop. stop. stop. >> well, it happened on monday outside the municipal services building near city hall. a 56-year-old man who identifies himself as george creamer says he didn't intend to hurt the mayor. he says he wanted the mayor to know the plight of the homeless during the pope's visit in september when the ben franklin parkway will be closed. the mayor calmed the man down during the confrontation. >> my main role here quite

frankly was to really just try to calm him down have him understand that no one's here to do anything to you. this is not about you. >> well, the mayor says it's the first time anything like this has happened. >> we are at the big board to break down yet another big night for south jersey native mike trout. how good is he? the angels outfielder made history by becoming the first florida your to win the all-star game's m.v.p. award two years in a row. here's why. trout stole the show right off the bat literally by going opposite field hitting a lead off home run to start the game. only "action news" was there as trout returned to his hometown of millville cumberland county overnight alongside fellow all-star and new jersey native todd frazier. frazier as you know won monday night's home run derby. here's what trout had to say about traveling back with his new jersey bud. >> jersey boys stick together. he's a great consumed he has a great family. i met his family today and it's going to be fun.

>> check this out. trout is catching a little bit of heat for this photo taken with the entire american league all-star team. check this out right here. the only person notifiesing the camera out of all the players, mike trout. he's a great baseball player so we'll give him a pass here. >> right. he definitely stands out. thanks matt. crews in kentucky plan to resume their search this morning for several people missing in flood waters in the appalachian mountains. flood waters rising in rural johnson county monday afternoon killed two people and left six more missing. it's estimated that more than 150 homes have been destroyed in that flooding. gosh. >> big warning around here karen. leftover flooding from the rains have moved through. >> we are and we still have strong storms even though we don't have severe thunderstorms yet according to the national weather service in our area right now. we've got strong storms moving through and storm tracker6 live double scan showing us right now that the storm is blanketing through much of the region. let's go in a little closer to

some of the areas that are hardest hit and it's been in south jersey this morning right now. we can see a new storm that's been developing in salem right along route 49 headed towards woodstown. in woodstown you were dealing with this for awhile. now you got another one coming your way. see another storm behind it in its wake. that's the progression of this. one in chadds ford along route one, in gibbstown, this is 295 n-woodbury near the new jersey turnpike. this is all headed towards medford, medford lakes and mount holly. let's go in a little bit farther to the north and see what you're dealing with right there as we can kind of switch this up and show you where it's headed because everybody is getting it. in philadelphia you've got it just west of the city and in media and this will be crossing through the area as well some heavy rain in west chester you're getting pounded with it and up in norristown and willow grove some heavy rain. you're not getting the lightning strikes that we saw earlier down to the south but heavy rain nonetheless. overall 87 lightning strikes happening right now through the region. let's go on outside. i want to show you what it looks like right now and you can see the skies what an

ominous view of sky6 looking live right now at the clouds up above. the current flood conditions, the warning continues through much of the area, parts of berks, bucks, polling montgomery, philadelphia and now in parts of new jersey with that heavy rain that's moving through in gloucester, camden and burlington counties because we had over an inch of rainfall in a 20 to 30 minute period so that's why you have the flooding and flash flooding happening right now. the temperature 71, the dewpoint 68. it's still oppressively humid out there. as we look at future tracker six, you get the idea although it's not going to rain all day, this batch of storms moved through, looks like at lunchtime this is a look at 12:30 once again we have some strong storms or at least tropical downpours coming through the area. at 5:30 in the evening it's lessening a bit in intensity as the front tries to come through but we do still see some of these storms and downpours. then we get that clearing at 9 o'clock. the storms are out of here and in its wake it will feel much more refreshing. so we'll look at the day. it's not going to rain

couldn't standsly but through the morning hours and it looks like the afternoon hours at times you're getting these storm. so, by 8:00 a.m., 73. by 11:00 79. by 2:00 p.m., 83 degrees. and your high will be an early high of 85. behind these storms that come through it feels better tonight. humid with downpours. be prepared for it at any point. and then tomorrow it's breezy and refreshing, low humidity, lots of sunshine. what a change, right? 82. friday mostly sunny, 84. good way to lead into the weekend and the weekend is a pretty good one, a typical summer weekend. it's going to feel warm, more humid, 88. just a chance for a storm at the end of each day. nothing like we're talking about today. sunday hot and humid, 90. monday hot and humid 90. if we stick with this on tuesday we'll have our next heat wave. still sticky and tuesday's the next day that we're looking at a chance for a strong storm that may break the heat. some storms coming through now, lots of lightning and play it safe if you're on the roads. >> good advice. thanks so much karen. 5:41 now. still ahead on "action news" mobile6 live in pottstown.

some of that rain is letting up but as you can see the effects of those early morning downpours are going to have a big impact on your morning commute. looks like some troubles on the road there, matt. >> they sure are, yeah erin. we are definitely seeing those effects here along 202 in the devon area it's really wet. traffic having to move a little slowly than normal headed up towards the schuylkill expressway. we'll check in some traffic light troubles, fire locations when "action news" continues on this wednesday morning.

>> ♪♪ >> welcome back. it's wednesday. a cool shot looking at the philadelphia international airport through sky6. of course you saw a lot of those lightning strikes this morning and those heavy downpours. the rain has lightened up but there's flash flood warnings for bucks, chester philadelphia county and of course new jersey so you have to be really careful when you head out this morning because you're going to be feeling the effects from those downpours most of the morning. >> type of stuff you seeing on the roads matt. >> sort of a wet and wild wednesday. seeing a lot of puddles, rain coming down in chalfont, we're seeing some bugs in the overhead light. i'm just waiting for the locusts here along state road at bristol road. at this point you can see the road is definitely very wet. you can see a few puddles out here this morning but the traffic is moving through the intersection okay. that's the case on most of the roadways. you just have to allow a little extra time, drop the speeds a little bit.

i don't want you to hit one of those puddles and go flying. we've seen a few peopling to that already this morning. we're also seeing some fire locations in pottstown. no confirmation whether or not these are due to lightning but there was one on hills boulevard. that cleared out. the fire crews have left. the fire is under control along south street at montgomery street and katherine was telling us about the flooding along high street at gable avenue. that's just to the west of route 100. definitely a chunk of high street that you want to avoid right now. moving down towards norristown there's a fire location along forest avenue. traffic lights not working close by along west main at egypt road. and we had some debris in the road along ridge pike at fern avenue so really something for everyone in the wake of these storms. this is the 42 freeway now getting very wet. really hasn't been raining here too hard up until this point but you can see the vehicle traveling northbound toward 295 are moving slower than normal. a lot of rain coming down here at the moment. it's laying on the roadway. again, as we've been saying it's just a lot of rain to have to drain really quickly

and so sometimes that's not possible and it just kind of ponds on the roadway. so, extra time now needed in camden county as well and close by with the commuter report one of our friends using the waze app even talking about some hail along 295 south in barrington. that's close to where we just looked at 42. it's a soggy situation in that area at this point. matt. >> thank you, matt. breaking right now, police in pottstown evacuated residents after a shooting at an apartment complex. this is video just in from highland manor apartments on east schuylkill road. it happened at 2:30 a.m. before intense storms moved in which caused flooding in pottstown. the victim is in critical condition. no word on what sparked the shooting. authorities say the evacuation was simply a precaution and new dash cam video of a car fire rescue in north jersey. the vehicle had slammed into a utility pole on route 17 in paramus on monday. debris went flying. some of it hit a police cruiser. the officer inside then noticed the smoking car.

>> we've seen better looking morning. >> for sure. >> we're going get through it somehow, some way. let's go to 422. so far it's not so bad here. it's just really wet around the saint gabe's curve. no delays to speak of yet. during the midday today i like to give you these warnings so you don't get caught in the construction delays. they're going to be working westbound on 422 from trooper out to oaks blocking a lane from 9:00 until 3:00. heads up on that. this is delco, 95 close to highland avenue. the rain has moved through so the road is wet but no more rain is falling. that's the good news. northbound go the taillights up toward the blue route and airport. you're getting by okay. regional rails on time, no problems there like we had yesterday morning. patco of course still running on its construction schedule which i know no one loves but hopefully you're used to that by now. karen. >> storm tracker6 live double scan showing we've got 74

lightning strikes right now hitting our area. let's go in a little closer. it is south jersey that's been the hardest hits of late. in wilmington new cell has blossomed near newark. these are traveling to the northeast the it will be hitting wilmington shortly. looking at strong storms through salem county, a lot of lightning strikes right there. headed towards glassboro and route 55, now in woodbury. you see the direction headed towards the northeasterly it's in berlin headed towards medford lakes and browns mills shortly just north of chadds ford getting hit hard there. so a number of storms moving through the area. and that's why we continue to have flash flood warnings in effect. we've had over an inch of rain in a 20 to 30 minute period. this lasts until nine:30. we talked about some of the philadelphia counties like parts of berks lehigh berks montgomery and now philadelphia gloucester camden burlington and parts of salem county until 9:30 because of all that heavy rain that's coming down right now, matt. >> thanks karen. a un security council diplomat says the u.s. will circulate a

draft resee resolution that would authorize that iran nuclear agreement. the deal reached yesterday has iran agreeing to sharply cut back its nuclear program. iny exchange the u.s. agreed to end crippling sanctions on iran. the bill could produce lower oil prices. iran has millions of gallons of oil waiting to be sold to us. republicans have offered plenty of skepticism over the iran nuke deal.

>> we are getting another look at the incredible emergency landing on a new jersey highway over the weekend. police in stafford township just released this video of a sky diving plane in the middle of route 72 on sunday. the plane was carrying dive students to a jump when the aircraft lost power. one instructor suffered a cut. listen to his words for the very first time. >> of course i was -- i was nervous. you know, many thoughts go through your head. when we hit the road sign, that's when the plane shook quite a bit but the landing itself was actually soft. wow, that's just like landing back at the airport. >> no one else on board or on the road was physically hurt. >> 5:57. police say an innocent woman was shot while sitting on her porch in north philadelphia. >> and mobile6 is out where the rain is coming down and of course you're going to see a lot of effects from some flooding. karen rogers and matt pelman will be back with updates from
